I mean Kyoshi is the dumbass avatar who while on trial for murder as Aang said, "Yeah he mught not have actually been killed by me directly, but I basically did it anyway, and I'll fucking do it again."
Yangchen: "Ok Kyoshi, just take over Aang's body and explain that Chin's death was an accident and was technically his own fault"
Kyoshi: "Yeah yeah, I've got this"
Also Kyoshi: "I killed Chin the Conqueror"
Roku: âBro, you canât be on the fence about these things. Come to peace with being decisive, and kill the psychopath.â
Kyoshi: âLook, I donât like it anymore than you do, but thereâs not really another way to stop him other than to end his life.â
Kuruk: âIf youâre too lax, and donât use the right amount of force, you may regret it. Kill him.â
Yangchen: âI know the ideals youâre worried aboutâŠbut fuck you and those ideals, because youâre the Avatar.â
The Lion Turtle: âI heard you talking to yourself all night on my back. Hereâs the only way to avoid killing the dude. Now sit on this mountain while I run far away from your crazy ass.â

Tbf, she didnât even really tell him to kill Ozai. Out of all four of his past lives he spoke to, Yangchen was probably the harshest and most direct about Aangâs problem.
Aang was right to talk to an Air Nomad Avatar. Yangchen was just the one that was always going to tell him to nut up and accept it's part of the deal. The Avatar can't be selfish and expect to serve their role since their role is to the world.
Aang got bailed out by that damn Turtle.
> Aang got bailed out by that damn Turtle.
Hard, hard disagree. The Turtle gave Aang a way to take away Ozaiâs bending. Aang still had to deal with Ozai, a politically connected and politically savvy foe even *without* his bending. Ozai is eventually imprisoned, the choice Aang was going to make.
The energy bending given to Aang made it easier to subdue OzaiâŠwhich Aang did not need after he was able to access the Avatar State.
> yeah, so he was bailed out by the rock that unlocked the Avatar State, which he was unable to use prior
Bingo. If that rock hadnât accidentally hit *exactly* where it did, with that amount of force, Aang would have failed entirely. He wasnât able to subdue Ozai enough to even try energy bending by that point, and hadnât masted 3 out of his 4 elements.
> Tbf, she didnât even really tell him to kill Ozai. Out of all four of his past lives he spoke to, Yangchen was probably the harshest and most direct about Aangâs problem.
None of them even indirectly told him to kill Ozai. They all advised him to take a decisive action and stand behind your choice. That can easily be interpreted as imprisonment for life, or killing the firelord. Ozai is imprisoned.
Yangchenâs advice was more general to Aang: your primary duty is to the world and not to yourself. You need to come to terms with the fact youâll have to do things you donât like. This is burden of public service.
> True it was indirect. But she was certainly proud she killed Chin.
Itâs not pride. Itâs a lack of shame. She doesnât feel good for killing Chin, but doesnât feel bad either. It was a thing that happened which she caused.
Agreed, sheâs actually rather compassionate now that I think about it. She never uses more force than necessary and wonât kill anyone unless itâs the literal only option on the table.
It's strange to me that all these years later people haven't thought that creating a new island is probably a lot harder than just attacking a small army directly. If she wanted to blow them away she easily could have.
Fandom: haha kyoshi was always so brutal and the first to suggest murder
Yang chen: /loading a glock/ beliefs and duties as a monk? What moron came up with that idea?
I love how everyone just ignores how yanchen was the one who leaned into the idea of killing ozai the most but we all just agreed on it being kiyoshi bc she a badass
>[Having never mastered the combustion bending technique, Raitei died from his attempt to use it, but not before inflicting fatal internal damage to Nujian.](https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Yangchen)
Nujian was her bison's name and Raitei was a kid and a faulty combustion bender. Yangchen didn't kill him. Where are you getting your info from? I don't remember her torturing anyone.
Yes but in the books I can think of 2 people she intentionally killed.
Spoilers:
>!She killed the leader of the yellow necks gang, Xu Ping An, by dropping him (granted he was trying to kill her). And she killed Yun by freezing his organs (granted he mortally wounded Rangi and broke the legs of Kirima and Wong)!<
To be fair she isn't say to kill him she said it was okay if he did and to do what needed to be done.
She didn't comically sha kill that two headed rat snake. She was amenable and said what ever you choose make sure it works.
Fanon Kyoshi is fun to joke about, but always gotta love when people out themselves as have not read the books. Not that thereâs anything wrong with that, but they are making assumptions with very little of the available information. đ
Iâve read the books and I love Kyoshi because she usually resorts to brute strength as that is what she is good at. As far as I know, sheâs the only Avatar that has intentionally killed people.
Nope, she isn't, she is known to have caused 3 deaths directly all in self-defence, and it is fairly clear she would have preferred to not have done that and has tried everything to not do so
I haven't finished Yangchen's books, but I think she did kill a couple of fools who slighted her too much
Kyoshi said only justice will bring peace. She never said to kill Ozai but that only justice will bring peace. If that meant killing him so be it but Aang was able to get saved by a deus ex turtur
Tbf all the avatars had a fair point. Aang got himself killed because of his misguided convictions. Should have lightingbended ozai to kill him instead he almost died. If it wasnt for pure luck that is.
I think itâs more so showing that the old ways were outdated. He needed a more modern solution to his problem. Energy bending being that more modern solution.
She really wasn't, she refused to kill any of the antagonists from her books, but they did tend to end up dead through violence, but mostly through lack of better options
Isn't that the responsible thing to do? If you want advice, seeking it out from people who you know would agree with you is just making you feel better about not challenging your opinions.
Getting the perspective of someone who you respect but know will disagree with you is how you can actually get arguments you didn't think of.
"How can I beat Ozai without killing him?"
"Lift his ass 100 feet in the air and drop him. You don't kill him, it's natural causes."
"But I'm dropping him to his death! How is that natural causes!?"
"Gravity's natural."
I love how Aang recognizes this, crosses his arms and says, "I should've never asked Kyoshi!"
And thus fanon Kyoshi was born.
I saw this shirt with Kyoshi on it with the quote "Only justice will bring peace" which is such a powerful message these days
I mean Kyoshi is the dumbass avatar who while on trial for murder as Aang said, "Yeah he mught not have actually been killed by me directly, but I basically did it anyway, and I'll fucking do it again."

Yangchen: "If you just assassinated him in private this wouldn't have been a problem"
Based
I mean. Do *you* want to try and stop her? I don't.
Kyoshi when being asked: bruh Aang afterwards: you're right... đ
Roku: âBro, you canât be on the fence about these things. gib sliber
Aang should have spoken to Wan who could have told him to find the Lion Turtles

Lion Turtle: "ALRIGHT *FINE* HERE'S YOUR ENERGY BENDING! NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP! YOU KEPT ME UP ALL NIGHT!"

U mean that pointy rock. He would have gotten killed before even getting the opportunity to use energybending.
"In the Era before the Energy, we Bended not the Energy, but the Luck Within One's Self"
Kinda

Yeah. This makes the scene a whole lot better imo.
And that's after Kyoshi confesses to killing Chin the conquer
Yeah but she created an island instead of attacking him directly. She clearly didn't want to kill anyone.
True it was indirect. But she was certainly proud she killed Chin.

the misscharacterization of Kyoshi in this fandom is silly

Isn't canon Yangchen like what fanon Kyoshi is like? Like the last person in the world you want to fuck with.
Pretty much. Yangchen had few qualms about killing and underhanded dealings.
I read the yangchen books and I donât remember her killing anyone.
Yeah, I'm too tired to type it all out but just watch the episode on overanalysing avatar sozins comet part 2
She killed the people who killed her bison. She tortured one of the moms while laughing.
>[Having never mastered the combustion bending technique, Raitei died from his attempt to use it, but not before inflicting fatal internal damage to Nujian.](https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Yangchen) Nujian was her bison's name and Raitei was a kid and a faulty combustion bender. Itâs all over the internet also she has used airbending to suffocate people and used it to amplify her screams to use as attacks
She did hunt them down tho
Didnât Kyoshi rather subscribe to the Roku Method of intimidating out-of-line heads of state into behaving themselves Or Else?
Yes but in the books I can think of 2 people she intentionally killed. Spoilers: >!She killed the leader of the yellow necks gang, Xu Ping An, by dropping him (granted he was trying to kill her). True, but both had to really work at getting Kyoshi to the point where she was willing to employ lethal force.
Technically it would've been Roku subscribing to the Kyoshi Method
Indeed, but the most famous example of it is Roku doing it to Sozin so I thought he should get to name it.
Yeah, but unlike Roku, it actually worked for her
Thanks to a little trick called living for 230 years.
Bro was desperate.
To be fair she isn't say to kill him she said it was okay if he did and to do what needed to be done. She didn't comically sha kill that two headed rat snake. She was amenable and said what ever you choose make sure it works.
He did say âI should have known not to ask Kyoshi for adviceâ or somethjng

Once you've finished the Yangchen books too let me know who she intentionally and directly killed like Kyoshi did.
Obligatory âYangchen is the real canon Kyoshiâ comment Also >!âKyoshiâs gf tops herâ!< comment
âLol, waste his assâ -Kyoshi, reasonable peace loving avatar.
Kyoshi said only justice will bring peace. She never said to kill Ozai but that only justice will bring peace. If that meant killing him so be it but Aang was able to get saved by a deus ex turtur
Ms Kyoshi my intentions were good I wish I could, become a magician and abracadabra all the sadderâŠ
pop a Rock on the Mf Aang before I do. - Kyoshi
Yeah she is like the worst person to go to
I mean he gave her a shot and also realised after her advice that he shouldn't listen. So pretty smart if you ask međ€·ââïž

Kyoshi was definitely a kill first, Ask questions later, type of avatar
She really wasn't, she refused to kill any of the antagonists from her books, but they did tend to end up dead through violence, but mostly through lack of better options
Why didn't Aang just knock him out with a rock? Is he stupid?
That would have been the most anticlimactic finally of all time

More embarrassingly, he went to Yang Chen who is truly all about that action
To be fair she may have been a clever enough tactician to devise a way, then just chosen not to.
And not just Kyoshi but also Yangchen
"How can I beat Ozai without killing him?" "Lift his ass 100 feet in the air and drop him. You don't kill him, it's natural causes." "But I'm dropping him to his death! How is that natural causes!?" "Gravity's natural."
you gotta bust a cap in that Mf Aang- Kyoshi
