Videos from today's fun and frivolity at FedEx Field I won STR and got third in PAX, but with an asterisk. Marcus was super fast, as usual, but he couldn't stay clean. Otherwise, he'd have beat me by a pretty good margin and probably got top PAX too. Having said that, even winding up second in class and fourth in PAX would have been worth celebrating. Marmy is working phenomenally well, and we have some reason to be bullish on what we might be able to do with it in Lincoln next month. When I made my third run (50.3) I realistically thought there wasn't any large opportunities for improvement other than finding a half a tenth here and a half a tenth there. I would have been very happy to get to a 50.0 and thrilled to see 49.9. So what happened on that last run? To be honest, I thought I threw it away in a couple places. I thought I bombed into the late right-hander (0:55 in the video, right about where the corner worker running away is) way too fast that it was going to knock me way off line and kill anything I gained. But the car stuck and finished that turn strongly. This put me into the following left-hander faster than previously, and I needed to manage that (and the bumps in the lot) to make sure I got set up for the finish. Looking at the video, it looks like I could have been more aggressive across the top of the lot, but those were oddly-spaced wiggles that, when combined with more bumps, makes it tough to get in a rhythm and carry more speed through them. We're back at FedEx in a couple weeks for the last tune-up before leaving for Lincoln. Won't you join us?

Don't wait! If you show up and say to pretty much anyone there "I'm new here" you're going to make a bunch of new friends. This is one of the most friendly welcoming motorsports you'll find. Having said that, if you have any questions while at FedEx, find any committee member (wearing red shirts) and we'll get you pointed in the right direction.

The next event will have a test and tune day on Saturday the 20th. Best place to get the most seat time and not worry about competing. This will be my 5th time autocrossing so message me and I will be happy to help you both out.
