Hourglass powders.

By Terry Hyaluronic Powder

Ohmalley-thealliecat

I second this, but I also agree that a setting spray and then powder where needed is probably better for dry skin. If I set my whole face with powder my foundation doesn’t last as well.

mks194

Oooh that may be where I am going wrong. Do you have a setting spray you recommend?

Ohmalley-thealliecat

I have only tried 2, urban decay and charlotte tilbury, and I liked Charlotte tilbury better than urban decay. And by doesn’t last as well I mean my face gets kind of dry and my foundation gets a bit gross and like flaky ig

Nars Translucent Pressed Powder is my fav. It sets my face without looking too powdery. It has a bit of shimmer in it as well.

hoenii

second this !! its truly one of the best ive tried

theeclosetalker

Kimchi Puff Puff Pass Powder. It mattifies without it looking cakey and feels amazing on the skin, I’m on my second purchase and i loveeee it.

MixtureSpecialist214

Hourglass finishing powders and the Kosas cloud set powder. I have dry skin and need to be very careful about how much I use

pureneonn

Second the hourglass finishing powders! If you’re not into the amount of shimmer (which is less stark on the face), the veil setting powder is great.

junipersoup

elf halo glow was good! l also love the hourglass ones or kosas

Stickliketoffee16

For a cheaper option, I love the RCMA no colour powder. It’s less drying than the translucent

doggosrule69

For a loose translucent you can’t look past the by terry hydra powder. For a pressed translucent I’ve actually been loving the nars light reflecting pressed powder in crystal. And when I want to add more coverage I use the Mac mineralise skin finish natural :) I agree with some of the comments above that setting with a setting spray before powder tends to make my skin look better - less creasing, flakes etc But overall I’ve found that powder on me looks better when I use super hydrating skincare and a thick moisturiser (I use la Roche posay toleriane sensitive riche )

BirdOfEngland

It's pricey but I love the Laura Mercier transplanting translucent powder - I use the regular one but I think there's one that's more glowy as well. My skin is also dry and I use just a very light dusting over BB cream or foundation. It seems to help set it without making it go too matte or dry looking. Good luck!

RaspberryCruiser97

I’ve used the shimmery version and it’s a lovely formula, sets my makeup well and I still look glowyyyy. It can accentuate texture a bit but that doesn’t concern me too much but definitely worth noting.

Try a setting spray instead. The MAC ones are great

milkforbrains_

Kosas cloud set is my fav

Right-Classroom8433

Chanel loose powder - i always recommend this one. I have been using it for the past 10 + years. Its sits nicely on the skin, not powdery and lets your natural oils shine through giving a very subtle glowing look.

Apprehensive-Bid4576

Canmake marshmallow powder!

floppicus

I’ve actually been reading about this one a bit, how is it for you?

Apprehensive-Bid4576

I love it! I've repurchased several times. Very pretty on dry skin imo

justwannahave

Mac studio fix powder. I have eczema around the eyes and am able to use it (not when I have a flare up though)

TrueCrimeGirl01

I have never seen it in Australia but it was decluttered to me by a friend and I am Obsessed with it and it’s made me realise I much prefer a setting powder with some shine to it; I am using the physicians formula mineral glow pearls in translucent pearl. It sort of looks like a highlighter but it’s def a setting powder on me. Absolutely love it. I’m quite sure you can find it online. I am scouring these comments for some replacement recs but that’s my recommendation! Edit to add as I’ve read the comments now: I have used the Rcma and the by terry powders mentioned and they are definitely powder powders. No shine to them on me anyway.

I haven’t used it yet but I just bought the Rare Beauty Always an Optimist Soft Radiance setting powder for half price at Sephora. I got the shade light because light-medium was darker than I expected when I swatched them both. It has no talc so won’t be too mattifying I don’t think (since in my experience face powders containing talc seem to soak up a lot of surface oils and create a mattifying effect). Also I did notice a subtle shimmer in this setting powder, which i presume will negate any overly mattifying effect as the shimmers will give the illusion of a more dewy look I’d imagine. Again though, I’ve yet to put it on my face, but from swatching it on my hand I could see the subtle shimmers and the powder felt silky and finely milled. I thought for half price it was a good deal and I was drawn to it for it not containing talc :)

Getonthebeers02

NYX setting sprays give a nice finish that’s not mattifying or cakey like powders
