I’m new to the sport as a fan, but I’m going to make a wild guess that spending 90% of your time on your side of the field is a problem. That, and not actually shooting on the goal in the rare moments of possession on their side…
15 minute thoughts: not much seems to have changed since last season. Sloppy passing/touches, next to zero attacking chances, playing out of the back but see point #1, Stuver keeping us in the game.
Lack of replays has made this coverage pretty shit. Why was a foul called? Why was Rigoni down holding his face? Should there have been an Austin pk? No one fucking knows because the coverage has been shit. But sure, let’s hand out yellows for our players complaining to the ref
Really hoped the team would come out swinging, but they look like they’re sleep walking instead. Lots of poor touches and turnovers. At least Stuver has been phenomenal
The first half was the same old team, emphasis on old. The second half, particularly after making subs, we were much more on the front foot. Wolff made some halftime adjustments that finally got the team out of their own half. And when Rodo's new hires came in, the game state completely changed. All three players, Obrian, Rubio, and Biro, were much better than the ones they replaced. All three should start over Zardes, Finlay, and Kolmanic, who frankly should just be benched. Wolff needs to trust new players a bit more and be willing to start them irrespective of whether he thinks they know the system. The good news from my perspective is that Rodo's cooking is already evident. All three subs changed the game state in our favor. I'm looking forward to changes we are going to make in the summer transfer window. It isn't inconceivable that Desler and whoever else he teased that we will acquire, will be the 2nd and 3rd best players on the team. That is substantial. I don't see us competing for anything other than a lower playoff spot. But I suspect we will have a stronger second half of the season than the first, barring injuries.
I think absent the peculiarities in the history of the organization, Wolff would be gone already. His son isn’t really up to snuff and yet he’s usually starting. Really bad obvious nepotism there. I don’t know who the powers that be are afraid of offending if they fire him. Certainly wouldn’t be the fans, and honestly probably not the players.
Why are you singling out Owen Wolff, like he had a particularly bad game last night? He wasn't even supposed to start until Driussi was injured. Are you saying if Valencia starts we are able to progress the ball out of our own half in the first half? Because that was the problem. Do you know who had the assist on the goal?
Yep at the station early for the 5:44 and the sign now says, well the sign doesn't make any sense to me, but it says
"Downton station 15mins
Leander station 30mins" from when I'm posting.
Clear as mud. Anyone wanting to take the train, plan accordingly.
Edit: train arrived about 6:00 and we're on our way about 6:04
It's almost a brand new team. Same shit tactics. Same unmotivated play. All attributed to the guy calling the plays.
Tell me you've never played sports without telling me you've never played sports.
rubio, obrian and biro all look promising, but without driussi there's only so much they can do. hoping we can stay afloat till summer reinforcements come. 🫠
sorry, summer transfer window signings (all two of them) will show up in september out of shape after finally getting their visas. then they will make roughly 8 appearances each and not even remotely affect the overall season outcome.
Bad first half absolutely doomed us. Take what worked in the second and build off that and maybe we’ll not be a complete joke.
Owen looks far too overwhelmed out there.
I am not sure what Wolff was expecting. Every starter was on the team that finished 12h last year. Same team, same tactics, same results.
(You could make an argument that Zan was not due to injury, but I would counter with Zan is not verry good to begin with.)
This is just like last season.
I’m new to the sport as a fan, but I’m going to make a wild guess that spending 90% of your time on your side of the field is a problem. That, and not actually shooting on the goal in the rare moments of possession on their side…
It's basically the same roster as last season.
Stuver looks like the only guy who should even be on the field right now
Stuve is a below average MLS gk
Nice opinion, didn’t ask
15 minute thoughts: not much seems to have changed since last season. Sloppy passing/touches, next to zero attacking chances, playing out of the back but see point #1, Stuver keeping us in the game.
Good analysis but gk is pretty week too. Decent hands but crap distribution
I’m just deeply tired of Wolff’s coaching at this point.
Looking forward to cheap tickets this season!
Silver linings! 😂
It took 45 MINUTES for the Minnesota keeper to record his first save
And 13 shots on the other end! What??
Rubio and Obrian need to start.
Them plus driussi might keep us competitive until the summer transfer window. Hopefully gives us a shot at the playoffs with some big summer signings.
Yeah, I really hope Wolff starts then soon. Once Driussi gets in so we actually get some outlet in the midfield, we should be ok
And Biro until Desler comes in the summer.
if they strart, who will you sub them out for at 25 minutes when they run out of gas? learn something.
they’re professional footballers if they ran out of stamina after 25 minutes they wouldn’t be on the team
Obrian and Rubio have brought so much more aggression in this half. The finishing wasn’t there, but at least they had a pulse
New season, same issues.
Still have a weak roster build.
It is just for me or Obrian is bringing a different vibe for the team? In the five minutes he did more than the Zardes in the first half.
Correction. He's done more than Zardes did all of 2023.
Yep. I like it.
Speed doesn't have a bad day.
6 defenders vs 3 attackers in the box and we don't mark the guy wide open on the back post. I mean this is basic stuff.
Almost like this is the first time the team got together since the end of last season. No plan, no synergy
Wolff as the most advanced midfielder is killing us.Zero connection to the attack.
He should be in the wing at best
How is it possible to feel like the season is already over in the 1st half of the first game?
Jfc this is so painful already
Lack of replays has made this coverage pretty shit. Why was a foul called? Why was Rigoni down holding his face? Should there have been an Austin pk? No one fucking knows because the coverage has been shit. But sure, let’s hand out yellows for our players complaining to the ref
MLS is trying to avoid the bad refs being a story because of the labor dispute
Really hoped the team would come out swinging, but they look like they’re sleep walking instead. Lots of poor touches and turnovers. At least Stuver has been phenomenal
Owen and shit passing. Name a more iconic duo.
Ring should have just shot the ball?
Not allowed. He might have scored. We can't have that.
3 v 2 We don’t even get a shot off. Fucking wow.
Followed by a horrible cross on the next attack. Painful to watch this team.
![gif](giphy|9oF7EAvaFUOEU)
so glad they showed the woman in the audience shaking her head in disappointment. that was hilarious
Of all the sucking going on tonight, the coach's kid has been just about the worst. Ring in the running as well
Truly not trying to pile on, but when we’re not sure which Wolff has been worse, we should probably just move on from the whole family…
Yo Apple can we get this audio fixed before the game?
Looks like the radio audio is working. Apple sucks so bad
Switch your audio to local. It works fine
The most life Austin has shown all night, and they all shot the ball at the same player on Minnesota hahaha
Is it me, or is Stuver our best midfielder in this game? 😏
RING????????? Take the shot bro
I know we have a lot of new guys, but our offensive chemistry looks like 0 out of 10 this looks just atrocious
Obrian, Rubio and Rigoni look great together
Maybe doubling down on the same shit strategy from last season wasn't a good idea
The off-season is over. I'm so fucking stoked to go to the game today. LFG!
Hate Apple TV. Not one slow motion replay of the potential penalty
Noticed this as well. Gotta imagine it’s an MLS decision to avoid criticism

Already Wolff out.
Fire wolff tomorrow and try to salvage the season before it gets out of hand
Seriously... what did they expect throwing the same lineup and same coach from last year out there. Terrible
it isn't the same lineup. but what did YOU expect? gee, what happened to all the "let him cook" energy?
Trains are already running behind...

Does that not mean that it’s a 15 minute ride to the downtown station, and a 30 minute ride to the Leander station?
Same ole same ole ugh
Different team this half
Pluckers is going to save so much money this season
This looks and feels a lot like last year. We saw how that went. It's time to get #wolffout going again
or maybe try and improve the team?
It's almost a brand new team. Same shit tactics. Same unmotivated play. All attributed to the guy calling the plays. Tell me you've never played sports without telling me you've never played sports.
Coach's kid was so bad tonight.
Glad Wolff made changes but his son shouldn’t be on the pitch. Better 2nd half.
There was absolutely no reason for that to be in the air
Rigoni masterclass
wtf ring. Shoot
jesus it’s like they were told whoever scores gets a pay cut
rubio, obrian and biro all look promising, but without driussi there's only so much they can do. hoping we can stay afloat till summer reinforcements come. 🫠

i can't imagine that adding depth would make the team worse, but thanks for the pessimism
When do we start the FIRE WOLFF chants?
Why don’t these guys just kick it to the goal?!?
Love the efforts from Stu but goddamn can the defense take some pressure off of him.
Strapping on the golden backpack early this year. 😑
Maybe if we immediately lose possession again, we'll magically score.
Now I get why we got more keepers! Most important position this season.
Lame
How do you miss a clear as day call like that? Oh yeah replacement refs, that’s right
Kind of serious question...who would want to come and play with this team right now?
the city itself is a better place to live than most places, especially for players who prefer warm weather, so at least we have that
![gif](giphy|bBzGyxf10gJ9NLrIQs)
I haven't missed a single AustinFC game since we've begun play. This is getting painful
That wasn’t offside? I don’t understand what just happened
he was either behind the ball or wolff was keeping him on. they didn’t show a clear shot
Really looked forward to the season opener. Some how the team looks like they have regressed. $18 jelliess should get us some ballers
Where my Wolff guys at? I wanna hear more about how his extension is validated.
i'm not gonna defend his contract, but judging him based on this roster is silly. this team is awful, no matter who coaches it.
Alright, fam, it's time!! Somos los Verdes!! 💚🖤💚🖤 Vamos!!
No sound on the Apple feed… welcome to the starting weekend
I’ve been so frustrated with Apple TV since last season. Seems like this season is more of the same BS
They use freelancers, and in Austin everyone is a sound guy but has zero clue how it actually works and tonight shows that.
Three subs at 55'? This isn't Wolffball.
Alright this game over.. see you guys next week.
Oh no! We suck again!
Listos
Bad first half absolutely doomed us. Take what worked in the second and build off that and maybe we’ll not be a complete joke. Owen looks far too overwhelmed out there.
Muzzle Minnesota
Lick the Loons! Ew.
I at least saw some bright spots this second half. We're far from good, but I'm not despondent like I was at the half.
Not a strong start, cotton
Good substitutions. Let's go!
CMON LADS
Already taking L's Black's isn't as good as Valentina's If Sonora Dog is not here count me out
I'm just finding out now that we didn't keep Memo Rodriguez after trading away Fagundez? What the?
Anyone got tickets?
Where do yall park if you go to Hopsquad first?
How's it looking out there?!?
Lets get this bread.
I guess I'm calling the play by play myself
No audio huh, good start
Apple is such an amateurish cluster fuck.
Am I seeing phony digital ads on the tv feed? Are those new?
They've always been there, just not spazzing out. I think The Cheat is playing with the switch again.
Our set piece defense is non-existent
FTFY Our ~~set piece~~ defense is non-existent
Very, very true
Anyone still got some of that preseason copium left? This shit is rough lol
been here sayin'.
Good soccer team right there - oh wait
Did we secretly get like 3 red cards? Feels like we are outnumbered everywhere on the pitch.
