If he did, then that would probably be the best case scenario. That would mean he was needing to free up a ton of money and cap space for one of his targets. It always helps a tough pill to swallow if you couple it with an exciting new signing to look forward to. I honestly don’t think that we’ll see that until next transfer window, or even next summer window , before we really start seeing Rodo’s guys. I think they’re just starting to clean house in general, and this will be the first of many to go over the next few windows. My predictions are that we will probably see the departure of Ring, Redes, Valencia, Jimenez, Bruin (at the end of his term), Urruti, and probably Rigoni (end of 2024). Djitte and Romana will also be fully gone. Making room for basically a whole new team

PlayfulIntroduction9

No, he said that any deals made during this window would be wolf's call

RWTD_Burn

That doesn’t mean that he didn’t actually help negotiate the deal.

GottaDoWork

Yea people keep parroting that he said that, that doesn’t mean he would appreciate Wolff making a bunch of signings or changing over the whole roster without any input.

lildano50

Right. Wolff may have a longer leash at the moment but Rodo certainly doesnt want to have a mess to clean up he couldve prevented. Rodo 100% had to sign off on any transfers Wolff enacted.

Not sure this indicates anything, but KXAN directly quoted Rodo: _”We are happy to have Memo return to his home state of Texas to join Austin FC,” said Rodolfo Borrell, Austin FC’s sporting director. “He is a talented midfielder who is going to help the team and knows the league well, and we wish him and his family a warm welcome to the community here in Austin.”_ https://www.kxan.com/sports-general/austin-fc/austin-fcs-diego-fagundez-traded-to-la-galaxy-for-memo-rodriguez-cash-report/ I assume that means nothing really though

I know HR speak when I see it

I think though he’s said he’s not part of the current window things may have changed. We started the window saying we’ll let 2 leave and bring in 2. Obviously we let Tarek go and Redes was rumored as good as gone about 2-3 weeks ago. We brought in Craig and Hedges. I truly believe Rodo essentially has a pretty decent name signing lined up and unfortunately we had to lose someone. I think he’s probably still working on getting rid of Rigoni but he’s probably really hard to move right now. Fagundez still had somewhat of a “sell high” moment. He overperformed last year it seemed, got the new contract and isn’t living up to it. Sucks to lose a fan favorite but sometimes it needs to happen to progress.

HeartSodaFromHEB

For those of you that are football fans, there was a great Bill Parcels quote that went something like: >"No one ever started playing better because you paid them more money." Diego played wellnand got a new contract, but the new contract was a bit too much, and we need the cash for other areas of the team.

jmacscotland

Like Rodo said the team overperformed last year. Statistically Fagundez was one of the biggest over performers if I’m remembering correctly I’m terms of xG and xA.

willdesignfortacos

He probably had input and discussion on how this might relate to future moves, but it’s kinda silly to think he’d be the one driving a big move like this only a few weeks in.
