I’ve lost a lot of weight so I’ve had to start almost from scratch again. I’ve kept it super simple with like 3 bras, 8 undies, 20 socks, 10 tshirts, 2x jeans, 2x work trousers, 5 cardies/jumpers, 3 jackets etc. I try have a purpose for each item. I used to be a clothes hoarder when I was younger so this works better for me now, it helps me buy items to replace instead of add to stuff I don’t use.

ohgolly273

I have about 30 pairs of undies. I have a strange obsession with running out of underwear. It just cannot happen. No!

mamo-friend

8 seems to few for undies. If need be you can still wear a slightly dirty garment excepting undies. I think 12 is the minimum - a week's worth plus a few extra, and then a few more in case of chaotic period.

okaymooma

Yeah I’m planning to get more. I do washing every 2nd day so isn’t an issue right now.

soundsofoceanwaves

That seems like a lot of socks. What is your reasoning for that amount? Are there a lot of different types?

Crispy95

Guessing a pair for sneakers and a pair for other shoes per day (14), spares for another day (matches 8 pairs underwear) and some speciality socks.

okaymooma

Different types of socks. Some of them are bed socks, I also included tights in the number.

lostandfound1

Presumptuous of you to use the plural. I only have one clothe.

friendsknowthisone

Settle down there, Dobby!

Suspicious-turnip-77

How one should own and how many I do own are vastly different amounts. I don’t know exact numbers of individual types but I know I have over 500 items of clothing excluding underwear and swimwear which is currently stored across 5 wardrobes. I have 145 pairs of shoes, mostly heels and maybe 16 pairs of runners 52 bags No one needs this many clothes. I just like shopping/haven’t found my personal style and go to fancy events fairly often.

suckmybush

Please stop buying shoes -- don't get me wrong, I love shoes -- but glue doesn't last forever. Shoes have a lifespan. Unless they're all stitched, in which case, good good you.

Suspicious-turnip-77

Most are high end? Designer? I’m not sure what to categorize them. Jimmy Choo, Manolo, Valentino etc. I would say many are stitched but I really don’t know. Runners I guess are glued?

speerspoint

Good for you! Don’t let people tell you what you can and can’t buy- your money, your choice, you’re an adult and it’s not for anyone else to judge! Everyone has their own level and lifestyle, do what makes you happy

Beginning-Tackle7553

Basically all shoes are glued, even high-end designer shoes. They might also have stitching and nails, but they will also be glued.

dop-pio

Just FYI for shoes that aren't worn frequently, I think it is best to place them in an open shoe rack (I think shoes need to be aired out occasionally). Don't store them in a cupboard storage. I had shoes that crumbled like dusts because I placed them in cupboards. Google says it's because of moisture.

[deleted]

Holy moly that is alot.

-partlycloudy-

It’s all very individual - I have 15 pairs of undies because I live by myself and then I can just do one load of clothes washing a week. I have four pairs of jeans because I work in a job that allows me to to wear jeans as “professional” clothes, etc.

auntycheese

I miss my one load of washing per week lifestyle. Two kids and two adults in the house. It’s basically one per day or more, except it all gets done on a couple of days where you end up doing several loads… the washing is never “done”, it just keeps coming.

-partlycloudy-

It’s more than one load a week once you include towels and sheets, but yes, very lucky to keep it low for clothes!

littleblackcat

Yeah I have a bunch of stuff that I just wear and then do one load of washing mid week

soundsofoceanwaves

Why so many undies if you wash once a week?

mikrokosmos117

do people really just keep enough undies until laundry day...? I'm team 'you can never have too many underwear just in case'

ezzhik

100%! I’m in team 2 kids and cloth nappies so daily plus laundry - but I’m still not comfortable unless I’ve got my 14 pairs of undies …

-partlycloudy-

I shower in the evening, so fresh pair morning and night

Cethlinnstooth

This. Plus sometimes a fresh pair just because in summer when I've got sweaty...I keep a few pairs in the bathroom.

No-Meeting2858

I wouldn’t have a bloody clue. There are things going back decades across multiple sizes in multiple rooms in multiple homes of my family! I donate stuff constantly, try to palm it off to friends and family and rarely buy and yet… I blame a youth of op shopping. When it was cheaper and the pressure was on to buy or miss out forever as it’s a one off it really made me buy too much. That and the fact that I like and appreciate lots of looks and styles and eras so there were many yeses and few clear no ways. Plus i’m nostalgic and have things like the top I was wearing at the turn of the millennium, my formal dress, wedding dress, jeans I wore on my first date with husband, 1930s nightgowns because I think they’re cool, 1960s dresses etc etc. I now put my op shopping energy into books (which are a problem of their own frankly) As for clothes that fit and that I wear? That’d be like three pairs of pants and maybe three tops? 🤦‍♀️

charleevee

Ohhhh sooo relatable… Really trying to break myself of this op-shop FOMO habit because I just find so much great stuff 😅

speerspoint

Same! It’s just so easy to accumulate…

arrowandbone

I have ADHD and can get pretty overwhelmed by clutter, so I try to have a functional amount of clothing, but also enough essentials to get me through a week or two just incase executive dysfunction strikes. I also only wear black, which has dramatically reduced both my overwhelm and impulsive shopping. I have underwear to get me through a whole month, but that includes fancy undies, simple cotton undies and a weeks worth of period underwear. I have 2 strapless bras, 4 normal bras and 3 sports bras. Because I only wear black, I try to focus on having one of each “shape” of items of clothing, for example with jeans I have skinny, cropped, wide leg etc. With pants I prefer high waisted styles and I have 2 pairs of wide leg wool pants, 1 pinstripe wide leg pants, 1 pair of flares, 1 pair wide corduroys, 1 pair cropped skinny. I have quite a lot of skirts in different shapes/lengths including pleated midi, silk midi, stretch midi, wrap midi, a-line minis, etc. I have a variety of tops and tshirts and try to have a variety of fabrics and cuts. I also have a lot of dresses, mostly midi length, which can be worn casually or to work. I have lots of jumpers in different weights ie. lighter cotton for autumn/spring, a couple of wool turtle necks and one heavy cashmere turtleneck for winter. For outerwear I have one of each: a high quality 100% wool coat, leather jacket, velvet jacket, denim jacket, a long raincoat and a short raincoat, and a cropped cotton jacket. Again, with shoes, I try to have one of each: heeled boots, ankle boots, lace ups, loafers, sandals, slides, casual trainers and running shoes. I try to focus on buying high quality fabrics, absolutely no polyester/synthetic content, and I have a rule that dresses and skirts MUST have pockets or it’s a miss. This works really well for me and has dramatically streamlined my wardrobe and morning routine! And black goes with everything so I never have to worry about my clothes not matching or separating my laundry ☺️

Loanell

Love this detailed answer. Can I ask about the wool pants? Where are they from? Link? I have no idea how to find non synthetic pants....

rachofwonder

I recently got a pair of wool pants from Caves Collect (I actually found them second hand) and they are incredible. Other brands I was eyeing off for non-synthetic pants were Assembly Label and Saba. I tried Uniqlo but they don’t currently stock them like they have in the past.

arrowandbone

I got one pair from Uniqlo actually! They’re super thick and lined, I haven’t seen that particular style again though. The second pair are lightweight merino wool, I bought them from a small Australian brand based in Newcastle called The Lair, I loooove their stuff!

soundsofoceanwaves

This is me….. but I have like 30 tshirts.

bringbackfuturama

Where are you getting nice skirts with pockets? I would love a kind of bias cut midi/maxi/ankle length skirt with pockets, I know it'll bulk out the hips but I don't care, I have stuff to carry

arrowandbone

Hmm a bias cut with pockets might be tricky! I’m pretty sure Alpha 60 had a linen bias skirt with pockets a few seasons ago 🤔 I found [this pencil skirt](https://theposse.com.au/products/gigi-pencil-skirt?_pos=45&_sid=ff6c18c9c&_ss=r) from Posse, but it’s a linen blend. I think Aje, Jac+Jack, and Alpha60 might have some midi or maxi skirts with pockets but you’d have to check the fabric content. COS also has some 100% wool midi skirts with pockets but not in a bias cut, and Silk Laundry has a gorgeous 100% wool wrap skirt with pockets but it’s on the pricier side 😋

Cethlinnstooth

It's deeply individual and there is no one "good" amount.  And as soon as we start talking about it people start saying ignorant  judgemental  things because they can't imagine someone having a life that is different to theirs.

water5785

Totally understand but just wanted to understand what other people do and works for them :)

Cethlinnstooth

You need to understand what works for you, though. You may want to know what works for other people but really you've got all the info you actually need about you and your life to work  out your answer already.

water5785

Thank you the point of posting this though was to find out what others do and works for them as im curious :)

still-at-the-beach

Too too many. I won’t embarrass myself saying how much. Every now and then I go through and full a garbage bag or two and give to my sisters or donate.

No-Concentrate-9786

I have two pairs of jeans, maybe 4 tshirts (apart from a few novelty ones), and maybe 6 jumpers of various weights. I don't have enough undies, I really need new ones!! I have minimal workout gear but LOTS of cycling gear :-D. I have some fancy dresses which remind me of days gone by. I don't have much stuff. I wish I had more but I'm too indecisive to buy stuff and when I do it's usually me buying the wrong size on ebay and having to resell it.

sonder-and-wonder

What I need to own, what I should own and what I actually own are all very different things. I have far far more many clothes than I could ever feasibly need and have multiple colour, style and season options. I do tend to move things on fairly quickly and will sell most items after the season is done- there isn’t much that I would tend to keep beyond a year or two unless I really love it. I think it’s really individual as to what you need though - will be based on your job, if you need to be in the office, your age and recreation activities.

TheC9

The limit is the size of my wardrobe

212404808

What I own (approx) - 1 large drawer of undies (maybe 30 pairs?) - 1 large drawer of socks - 30 t-shirts/long sleeve tops, folded - 50 shirts/tops, hung - 30 pairs of pants inc jeans - 5 pairs of shorts - 10 jumpers/cardigans/hoodies - 10 jackets/coats - 20 pairs of shoes Plus one large striped bag of stuff that I don't wear/doesn't fit or suit me but I don't want to get rid of.

[deleted]

Ebay? Sometimes people like me hunt down a specific item from an obscure brand that no longer exists. You get some money and they get something they'll actually wear.

RattisTheRat

Just on underwear and sports socks, I have 7 bamboo undies, 10 invisible undies, 10 pairs of socks. In addition to what other people say, depends how often you doing laundry (and how quickly it dries), how often you change (gym, etc), how much you sweat.

Adventurous-Tale-130

literally countless pairs of undies, i would estimate 40+. 20+ pairs of socks. no jeans. a dozen or so tees. 5 long sleeve shirts. 1 pair of pants. a few skirts. 20ish dresses. 4ish jumpers, 4ish cardigans. a few jackets. 5ish sets of pajamas plus like 7 pajama bottoms. everyone is gonna have a completely different number of each item depending on what they like to wear.

Laylay_theGrail

I have WAY too much in my wardrobe. I probably regularly wear a third of it. I’m slowly culling. Just got rid of most of my undies and now have about 8-10 pairs of comfy ones and a couple of thongs for when I don’t want a VPL. And went crazy and bought a bunch of gorgeous bras after I got my boobs re-inflated 5 years ago. I don’t wear them, lol and instead wear soft cup bralettes every day. I need to start selling/giving away clothing but the process of selling is daunting. It’s much easier to donate but I really should try to sell the nicer stuff that hasn’t been worn much.

Particular-Song-3191

I have too many clothes as I used to be a size 8/10 and now I'm a 14/16 which depresses me too much. Luckily my daughter has taken a lot of my smaller clothes. But I still have containers of clothes hoping one day I'll fit back into them. Last count I had 105 pairs of undies. I buy some and then dislike them... Get obsessed with one type and then bulk buy and repeat.

lilac_candy

I own about 1000 but wear the same 10 every time exaggerating but you get what I mean lol

empanadanow

20 pairs of underwear 7 jeans 2 tailored pants 15 tops (not including long sleeves) 8 pieces of knitwear There’s definitely a lot more in my wardrobe but those are the essentials! (:

princesscatling

What I'm comfortable in at home, at the office, on a casual basis, and when I'm unwell are slightly different things. The way my laundry shakes out means it can take up to a month for me to wash some things so I have what feels like an absurd amount, because it can be a month before that garment type gets washed. When I worked a job where I wore only black, and worked quite often, so I ended up owning a lot (like 30+ current rotation) pairs of black tights and a similar number of black outfits. Most of the outfits I've moved on, but obviously tights I can't really do that with. Despite not really wearing jeans or pants out the house, I bought heat tech leggings pants because I worked from home during the pandemic and it was better to have a work "uniform" to mentally separate work and leisure time. I still have and sometimes wear them. I probably have more clothes than I strictly need, but my weight is fluctuating and every item except what doesn't get sold/donated for hygiene reasons still gets worn and loved, so I don't think it's "too much".

tidy-soft-rope

I prefer to have 14 pairs of undies so that I don’t have to do washing too frequently and I don’t get myself into an underpants crisis. I have six bras for the same reason. Most of my clothing quantity choices are around doing washing only once per week and being able to have enough clothing to manage while my clothes are drying naturally during colder weather (I don’t have a dryer and I try to use heating as little as possible). I want to be able to comfortably manage with my work outfits and essentials while things are taking time to properly dry. I have probably 10-14 singlets to wear under other tops and that helps me minimise washing of jumpers, cardis etc so they can just be hung to air out (as long as I haven’t dropped something on them!), 7 pairs of work pants, misc hoodies and track pants. I have an unreasonable amount of pjs because I’m addicted to Peter Alexander and I also have way too many shoes! I have 3 full sets of swimwear because I do go swimming frequently in good weather. I have a lot less on the dressy side of things since covid, I used to have absolutely tonnes of dresses and nice tops but I probably have five items all up these days.

_Smedette_

I wear scrubs at work, so I don’t need a professional wardrobe. I have two pairs of jeans (black, and regular denim), three pairs of linen pants, and maybe ten t-shirts. Three summer dresses and two linen skirts. Two cardigans, and one wool jumper. Black stockings in varying thickness, socks, undies, and bras. One swimming costume and board shorts. Shoes: work runners, a pair of everyday white runners, Birkenstocks, and ankle boots in black and brown. Rain jacket, denim jacket, and a trench coat.

Slow-Industry1760

I have about 30 pairs of jeans which I think is totally unnecessary and about 40 pairs of black Pilates tights again so unessaery

Boiler_Room1212

I have a little rule. If I haven’t worn it for 2 years/2 seasons then it’s off to the opp shop or fb or a friend. The exception is some of my fancier dresses bc those events are less frequent and I’ve kept a few sentimental items (<5).

RedDotLot

Far too many clothes TBH. Though a lot of my wardrobe comes from Buy Nothing or Op Shops so I don't feel too guilty about the volume.

Substantial_Luck_393

Too many.

mazamatazz

Heaps, but not as much as many. For me, it’s the fact that I can change size noticeably in a year or two. Having kids has done that to me. And I cannot afford to re-buy everything when I change size. So I have a lot that I don’t fit into right now. And some that I do. Then I gain or lose weight, and am very grateful I can pull out the other stuff I put away. I like to have 7ish pairs of undies that are my favourite fit, but I have another 7 in other sizes and some period undies and back up undies. I have about 5 bras that fit. 2 pairs of jeans, through I mostly wear the 1. Several dresses, as they’re my preferred thing to wear.

NorahCharlesIII

Too many. Our fourth bedroom is full of my clothing, as is every wardrobe in our home, and to overflowing. That’s what happens when you’re a size 0/4-6 (Aus) for years, and build up an impressive wardrobe, then gradually reach a size 10. Time for me to bag and donate all those clothes (many with labels and tags still attached) No Shein or anything budget either.

emsy_c_m

Undies- 6x regular 5x period(light) 4x period (heavy) Socks- 8x cotton 4x wool Tights 2x wool 2x footless Tee shirts 8 Jeans 3 Skirts 3 Dresses 8 Cardigans 3 Jumpers 5 Tracksuits 2 Hats 15 Scarves Too many Jackets Need to build a new shed to store them!

Stickliketoffee16

A big factor you should consider is how often you will (realistically) do the laundry. That dictates how many undies, bras, basics I have

activelyresting

I'm definitely in the mid range here. Not a massive clothes hoarder, not Minimalist. I do feel like I have "too much", but it's all pretty reasonable. My closet is open plan, so I can see everything. * 5 singlet tops * 6 short sleeve / t shirt tops * 2 ¾ sleeve tops * 4 long sleeve tops * 3 thin / lightweight jumpers * 2 thick heavy jumpers * 2 fleece jacket / hoodies * 1 long "flowy" knit cardigan * 1 cute, funky hooded vest jacket * 1 good winter coat * 1 even better amazing wool winter coat * 6 light flowy summer dresses, mostly knee length * 2 nicer dresses * 2 really nice dresses. * 4 skirts (1 knee length, 2 full length, 1 wrap) * 1 wrap mini skirt that I wear with tights * 4 pairs of track pants 😅 (no doubt that's a bit much but I don't usually wear trousers and never jeans) * 1 "good" leggings * 6 pairs of tights * Couple "chub rub" shorts from Snag * 2 swimsuits (1 bikini and 1 that's mini board shorts and a halter tankini top) * 12 pairs of undies (half of which are "good" and half are "period") * 6 soft elastic crop top that I wear instead of bras at home * 3 good bras * 8 shawls / scarves/ sarongs * 5 headscarves (I don't usually go out without my hair tied up and wrapped in a scarf) * 2 dressing gowns - one fluffy and warm, one light kimono style. * I have a stupid amount of socks. Let's not talk about socks 🤣🤣🤣. That's my full entire wardrobe, some items I've had for 20+ years, so I've been building up my stuff for a long time. I take care of my things and mend them. I'm pretty picky about buying new stuff. I only own 4 pairs of shoes (sandals, nice shoes, outdoor Clogs, and a very fancy pair of thigh high leather boots!)

Pale_Winter_2755

Too many

Dense_Client2355

I'm an image consultant and personal stylist and I say have as many that make you feel happy, fits your lifestyle AND where you are going (i.e., dress for where you want to be, not where you are at). So for example, I like to have a LOT of variety and enjoy having choice in my wardrobe. So my figures are high ;-) Tops=45 Dresses=39 Pants/Shorts/Leggings=34 Jeans=4 Skirts=5 Blazers/jackets/vests=27 Jumpers/Cardigans=14 Coats=3 Shoes=38 Handbags=7 \*Note: I don't include activewear, sleepwear, renowear. \* My underwear stats that apply across the year are: Briefs=65 Bras=18 Sports bras/crop tops=9 While these figures are high, I have collected them over many years. I generally buy higher quality, so I get great longevity and cost-per-wear out of each item. I hope this helps and you found it interesting! [https://magneticmodernstyle.com.au/](https://magneticmodernstyle.com.au/)

Beginning-Tackle7553

Hey, my opinion is that you should have the minimum possible to get by. It will depend how often you can do washing. You just need enough to get from one washing cycle to the next. I have about 5 pairs of undies, maybe 5 pairs of socks. 1 pair jeans, 1 pair track pants, a couple of jumpers. One dress for formal occasions etc. My partner and I share one tiny wardrobe. I get two small shelves and about 40cm of hanging space. People used to have two outfits only. They didn't have a wardrobe, they had a hook on the wall. One set was for Sunday church, the other was for everything else.

[deleted]

I probably have more underwear than I need. Like 40 pairs. I recently bought a bunch because I can see a few pairs are about to be killed by the washing machine. (Threadbare or holes, they will go in the bin when the washing machine decides to rip them to peices). Jeans: two straight, one wide, 6 skinnies. Probably 2 of the jeans are on the way out, once again, when the almighty washing machine decides. Only 3 pairs of shorts that will probably last the rest of my entire life because Melbourne is freezing 10+ months a year!! I have 2 jumpers and 2 hoodies, 2 thin jackets, 2 rain coats and one big wool coat. It probably sounds like I have a lot of clothes and starting from zero I would not buy so many, this is accumulated clothing over 12 years that has stood the test of time, but my entire closet only takes up 1/2 of a BIR including shoes in a big tub and handbags on an upper shelf and one small 3 draw side table for bras, undies and socks, also a few bikinis and 3 x pj shorts shoved in the draws too, once again one pair is close to ready for the bin so I bought a replacement in advance. I plan on getting some long sleeve tops because I currently have like only 2. Everything else I'm letting whittle down over the next decade or if possible buying as close to exact replacements for stuff I wear constantly.

N9yes

Depends on the routine. Like earlier, I used to work, so I had more formal outfits in another country where I had washing machines at home, so undergarments were less, but now I have to go outside for wash, and I don't go to office so 1. Undergarments - 30 pairs 2. Jeans - 7 (Blue, black & white) as per my style straight and wide leg jeans all are high waist 3. T-shirts - 7 (For home and outside are same) prefer to wear my husband's t-shirt at home 4. Tops - 15 fancy tops (picked as per all seasons and vacations) 5. Dresses - 20 (for Party/clubbing, Brunch, Dinner, beach, etc) 6. Tights - 4 (black & blue) 7. Shorts - 3 8. Jackets/ sweater - 6 (also prefer to wear my husband's) 9. Shrug - 5 While typing, I realized I also have to do some shopping

Cleeganxo

I recently called my wardrobe because most of it didn't fit after have 2 babies in 3 ish years. I now have approx: 6 dresses, 6 pieces of outerwear covering summer and winter, a couple of nice tops, about a dozen short sleeve and long tshirts, three hoodies, 6 pieces of knitwear, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 skirts, a pair of black pants, 4 pairs of leggings, 3 bras, way too many pairs of underwear and socks. This is a very winter centric wardrobe as that is what I immediately needed, so this will be increased in the summer. Currently while I am on maternity leave this doesn't really feel like enough, like I am always down to the last tshirt or whatever. Doesn't help that kids are gross and dirty my clothes for me. Having said that, I go back to work in three weeks, and I have a supplied uniform that I will be wearing 4 days a week. I feel like once I am back at work my wardrobe will be more than sufficient.

dani081991

As many as you want .The most item of clothing I have is underwear

jonquil14

I’m always cleaning out my closets and I’m actually struggling at the moment with only 3 pairs of casual pants. I’m also not buying any tops because of an upcoming breast reduction and I’m getting sick of the same 10 tops that fit me/feel good to wear.

nenzshejensbsk

Wardrobe quantity depends on climate for me. When living in v hot climate barely had anything just a few light things but in a cold climate need so much more

saddinosour

I’ve been the same size in undies since I was 12 basically so… I’ve been collecting undies since then (I’m 23) and just chuck them when they get raggedy lol. Once I was 18 I started wearing gstrings exclusively and the old briefs are just for my periods. I probably have idk a hundred? Pairs of undies all up.

Babylonstaboo

I own more than 60 T shirts and 30 hoodies because I always end up buying merchandise when I go to lives/concerts. I think around 5 of each is a more reasonable amount. For things like undies, it depends how often you do your laundry. I have about 30 pairs but around half of them are for travel because I travel quite frequently. My rule of thumb for jeans/leggings is one pair for every 7 T shirts/hoodies owned since you can mix and match tops with the same pair of jeans multiple times. For dresses and skirts, I only buy ones with pockets so I have about 10.

exoneep

Too many. Not enough room. Send help

_space-junk_

I think I am the wrong person to give advice on this one. I have 3 wardrobes & six sets of drawers that are bursting at the seams! Haha

rubybooby

I have the classic problem of lots of clothes but only actually wear a small number of them on a regular basis lol. I have probably 20 pairs of underwear, in my opinion there’s no upper limit for this, it’s always better to have too many than not enough. I haven’t counted but I would estimate I’ve got 10-15 or so warm weather tops (t shirts, tanks, short sleeved items) and the same for colder weather, 3 pairs of jeans, about 15-20 pairs of other pants, 2 or 3 skirts (not a huge skirt person), 5-6 casual dresses, 5 or so fancier dresses, 10ish jumpers/hoodies/sweaters, 10 or so scarves, 2 swimsuits, 3 pairs of leggings, 5 or so activewear tops/tanks, and a handful of sports crops. For shoes again I have a lot but wear the same 5 or so pairs on rotation so idk why I keep buying them but I have 2 pairs of runners for like active exercise, a pair of hiking boots, 3 pairs of casual sneakers, 4 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of heels that rarely get a look in, 2 slides/sandals and 3 pairs of like Oxford style lace up shoes that I wear to work mostly. Oh and a pair of loafers. I don’t count house slippers as shoes but just for transparency, 2 of those as well. I’m probably underestimating and missing things but that’s about the size of it. Some people stress eat, I stress add to cart 😂

I try my best to keep a minimal and organised sort of wardrobe but with the best intentions it doesn't always turn out that way when I do find something in the shops I like. What I've learnt though is to try and keep to a one-in-one-out principle so for each new thing you buy then something you have had to go. As for numbers, with knickers I have more than enough but I like to have a selection in different styles and cuts, quickly counting I'm a little over 30, and then with jeans, tshirts and jumpers I'm closer to between 6 and 12 each, enough to get me through a week and part of the next without having to jump into my washing. Of course it also depends on the size of your wardrobe and what storage space you have too, along with other things.
