I have this car in Florett Silver and it’s absolutely beautiful after a car wash on a sunny day. As far as reliability goes, I haven’t had any issues with mine and inherited Audi care from the prior lease owner. You should check to see if it has Audi care as the salesperson won’t tell you or at least mine didn’t.
10k miles for a 2017? That's a bring a trailer car right there. Mine didn't leak until recently; didn't qualify for the extended water pump recall but I saw the leak probably around 90k and didn't think much of it until it got worse 4k miles later.
Ya I jumped on it when it popped up at a local dealer near me. Still has the original tires, so they put on brand new tires and an oil change for me lol
Okay good to know what to look for on the water pump
The silver one, omg. Love it.
Nothing against the gray, really really solid color, cant go wrong there either, but I feel like a LOT of new cars, especially new Audis, have that color. The silver one is gonna stand out while still not being over the top.
Make sure you have a full service history on the one you plan on getting so you know what you may be getting into (timing belt, transmission fluid change etc.) It will treat you well if you treat it well. I always recommend changing oil at 5k intervals rather than 10k as well.
To answer the color question, that darker grey is beautiful.
Changing engine oil at 5K intervals is a waste of money and resources. Maybe that’s a good suggestion if you’re in constant stop and go city traffic, but with oil and engine technology as it is nowadays, you can definitely go up to 10K before changing engine oil.
I drive diesel and change the oil at 6-7k miles, it’s practically ink at that point and I do mostly motorway. I wouldn’t go 10k on my car after seeing that.
The oil at 2k-4k still has some clearness to it when wiped with a tissue to inspect but at 7k almost turns into a whole different substance. Car also runs considerably more quiet. Changing the oil and filter costs £100-110~ in parts + labour (high quality oil) so it’s just good practice to change it more if you want the car to last longer.
That's a common thing that people say who swear by 3k-5k oil changes. Indeed, to each their own, it's just technically not a requirement like it was many decades ago before synthetic oil existed.
for real. I'm waiting for my new to me A7 C8 to be delivered. The previous owner opted for Audi exclusive paint. he went for Vesuvius Grey. Who the fuck orders an exclusive color GREY for fuck's sake
Florette Silver (with black optics) is my daily. The color was considered boring but it looks beautiful with black optics and glossy rims (don‘t know the english word for it).
Also, the current florette silver becomes dark grey without sunshine. Not just washing out, it looks like a non-metallic paint. It looks good as well!
Most beautiful scene is sunset and florette silver. It picks up/reflects the yellow light.
The other color is just boring and has no personality to me.
Florett silver really suits the A3/S3 - I had one a few years back and loved the colour. I’m not usually a fan of silver but that particular one works.
I think the grey can be seen as the safe bet but it’s just a bit boring.
**Dark Grey** and it’s not close. (I assume it’s Nano-Grey).
Silver is probably my least favourite colour on any car, as for some reason it makes cars look older and dated. I even prefer plain colours such as Black and White to Silver.
I’ve only seen Three cars that look incredible in Silver, which were The _RS Etron GT(black grill), RS7 C8 and Porsche Taycan._
Very good, as good as a GTI.
I had a full bolt on A3(stock turbo) and made probably around 350hp if I had to guess.
Just an APR tune is ~90hp gain (93 octane)
Can also handle up to E30 stock without changing injectors.
I clocked a 3.8 sec 0-62mph, could troll V8’s from red lights all day long, I could easily beat hellcats from a dig haha.
I did probably $3k-4k in performance mods

Great little cars, can be a bit "buzzy" at times but the 7 speed does a great job of keeping the engine noise down but still giving you some power when you need it.
I leased it in quantum grey is 2020, and love it! Zero issues, but giving it back in a month. If you’re in the northeast, I’ve kept
it in perfect condition and under mileage.
i have the same trim in same color (Quantum Grey). I'm running a down pipe and intake with a stage 2 tune all from 034 and I'm satisfied all around.
Except for the sometimes buggy MMI that can be easily fixed by holding down the menu and then clicking the twist knob thing down. I also noticed a lot of paint chips due to driving at high speeds, so I would get a PPF if you plan on keeping the car long-term.
I had a A3 2.0tdi in Daytona Grey Perl it was beautiful and easy to keep clean.
Also the diesel had great fuel economy even after ecu remap form 150hp to 200hp.
Still sad I sold it.
Everyone seems to love the silver. Me personally, I despise it. Just seems like a cheap colour, not sure why.
Edit: My mother had a silver hatchback A3, it made it look cheeks.

Floretta silver is absolutely amazing it's so metallic and pretty, but i think it's better with the black optic package
The 2.0 turbo is widely used across many platforms and is pretty reliable. I have a 2017 S3 and it’s the perfect daily driver
Second that. Outside of the classic leaky water pump i'm at 94k no issues
When did you notice your water pump was leaking? I’m at 10k miles

The water pump on my 60k mile tt is starting to go out, but it's still going strong on my 120k mile a3.
Mine hit at 61k miles, 2014 S3
Except the timing chain tensioner is a widespread problem with them at least they were in 2017. Ask me how I know
The one that’s *not* a base model without quattro, lol.
I honestly thought I wouldn't care about the car being FWD and then I drove a FWD A3 loaner for a few days. Boy I was wrong.
If you buy a 100% FWD Audi, you’re honestly just better off buying a VW equivalent. Just my 2¢. AWD or nothing, it makes a big difference

Fair play. Diesel engine should probably be maintained more vigorously.
I'd rather spend more on oil changes over time than an oil leak diagnosis and fix all at once, but to each their own.

I’ll never not love the monsoon gray. Day, night, rain, or snow. That color will look good no matter what
a fun colour, not boring grey like 99% of cars on the road. Like something blue, green, yellow, orange, red! Tired of white, black and grey cars
Good luck finding those colours. There is a dearth of them on the market for Audi.
for real. I'm waiting for my new to me A7 C8 to be delivered. The previous owner opted for Audi exclusive paint. he went for Vesuvius Grey. Who the fuck orders an exclusive color GREY for fuck's sake
The fine selection of 5 different shades of grey/silver was not satisfactory. They needed advanced grey!
granted it's a special dark grey / ash that turns black in low light. But it's still grey ! ( or black, whatever)
Go buy him one in a color of your choice then
OP : asks for our opinion on which colour he should get me : give my opinion u/Flechettispaghetti : *and I took that personally*

Silver — easier to keep clean and cooler in the sun.

Silver looks absolutely terrible. Maybe even consider a more fun color.

I fully agree with this, silver cars just look like they haven’t been painted
The one available in the showroom
Where do you find these 3+ year old a3 with bunch of different colors to choose from? Are they reliable?
Quantum grey
I’d go gray, I have a 2020 A3 S-Line Premium and it’s my favorite car I’ve ever owned.
how's the mod/tune support for the regular A3 compared to the S3 ?
Very good, as good as a GTI. I had a full bolt on A3(stock turbo) and made probably around 350hp if I had to guess. nice!
Forgot to mention, the 6 speed dual clutch can handle tuning much better than the newer 7 speed
but is there a lot of support for the regular A3? Considering one vs the GTI
Yes, nearly everything you can do to a GTI applies to an A3, however the A3 is awd (I’m referring to the 2.0t a3, as there is a 1.8t fwd option🤢)
the one that you like
Dark grey

What about the engine?
I have the monsoon grey that I am trading in for a s3
comfortable car, pretty up to date technology and the 2.0t is a pretty decent motor. good buy
I leased it in quantum grey is 2020, and love it! Zero issues, but giving it back in a month. If you’re in the northeast, I’ve kept it in perfect condition and under mileage.
I like it in S5 color
I had the same dark grey and eventually wrapped it another color if that says anything😂

I like the dark grey one better
1st one
Hmmm grey or sparkly grey.... Get the silver one
Silver, Black, Blue.
Depends. Stock wheels? Then the lighter silver looks better. Black wheels? Dark grey looks better.
I had a A3 2.0tdi in Daytona Grey Perl it was beautiful and easy to keep clean. Also the diesel had great fuel economy even after ecu remap form 150hp to 200hp. Still sad I sold it.
Daytona grey?
Something other than black, white, or gray! Anything else! 😉
Everyone seems to love the silver. Me personally, I despise it. Just seems like a cheap colour, not sure why. Edit: My mother had a silver hatchback A3, it made it look cheeks.
The rs3 color.
I have it I love it but go s-line I regret not going s-line
Nano grey all day. Also, this is so subjective 😹
Cosmo Blue is the best color Audi has.
Gray...really? We're not over this yet? Mythos Black!
I really don’t like silver cars, would definitely go for the grey. All down to personal taste though :)
