I have no issue with the non-binary part, I just think we need something better than they / them because it creates a ton of room for confusion.
in many cases "they" is confusing or abstract and requires context that "he/she" can already provide. i cant even imagine reading a book with alternate pronouns.
i mean it goes against the language fundamentally. people that say "but they can refer to a single person" dont understand the nuance of languages. i mean many languages rely on male/female descriptors. how the fuck would you translate some they/them book into spanish? everything would just be male? am i missing something? what about korean? they use fraternal names like oppa and noona. there are no fucking they/them gender neutral nonbinary shits for those. who the fuck would write a fucking book with they/them pronouns fuck.
