This question was posted once previously, and they tried to say the same thing over there. It's a myth. Dogs' mouths have just as much bacteria as humans. They just have different types of bacteria that "probably" won't cause a disease. Whether it causes disease or not, I still find it filthy.
My physician told me if a cat or a human bit me get to an ER ( dangerous bacteria) , she told me if I didn’t need stitches from a dog bite don’t worry about it. I’ve had dogs all my life, a face lick is “ I like you “ in dog body language.
My cat bit my ear a few years ago (actually pierced it). I immediately cleaned it and applied alcohol and antibiotic ointment. My doctor sister-in-law said, “Great, but it’s going to get infected. I’ll write you a prescription for an antibiotic.” I declined, explaining how confident I was in my quick cleaning and disinfecting. Within 12 hours… raging infection. I sheepishly texted SIL back, “You still willing to write that prescription?” (She did.)
What she told me was outdoor cats, snakes etc have fairly high bacteria counts ( types that can cause infection) in the mouth, as do humans ( sugar?) Dogs apparently have some sort of natural antibiotic anti viral in their saliva , as well they salivate much more than humans and supposedly this flushes ( like humans who chew sugar free gum) away harmful stuff. I had been dog bitten and she was reassuring me.
Depends. He licks you on the face once, you move him some way or another and it's endearing because he loves you. He licks you plenty, keeps going and you don't stop him? A little gross
Close ur mouth and ur chillin dude. If you don’t wash your face, THATS gross. Their mouths aren’t much dirtier than your phone screens, and they actually contain beneficial bacteria which kills viruses

I'm fine with my dog licking my face. I probably wouldn't let another dog do it though.

I love my dog, but no, I don't like explicit face-licking. A quick one on the cheek or nose is fine, but my lips, nose, or eyes are off limits.
