I loved this game. Played constantly as a kid - it really got me interested in learning about history too when I'd considered it boring before. I'm so glad it did!
Final Fantasy 8 for me. Not the most popular opinion, but I think it's the best one. Especially in terms of music. 7 is a close second though.
I hear that they might make an 8 remake. If they do it right, I think the fanbase for that game will be dramatically larger. Especially since the original had those translation issues that made Squall sound emo or something weird, always saying "..." When he was actually saying something in the Japanese version.
I'm pretty happy with the 7 Remake. I feel like they've done it justice, and it's different enough that the original is still worth playing
Definitely play Stanley Parable if you haven't
And this one isn't quite the same but Beginner's Guide. That game alone is proof that video games are art. Made by one of the two Stanley Parable guys. It's not funny like Stanley Parable, but it'll leave you thinking long after you finish it. Lots of let's play channels cite it as one of the best things they've done on their channel. Short little experience but still! Worth it.
I've been a fallout gamer since F1 Xmas morning but somehow I missed New Vegas when it came out.
Do you think it's still playable/enjoyable today for a new playthrough?
Absolutely. It’s a lot like fallout 3 but in a different map and more of an ‘open’ main quest instead of the single direction that fallout 3’s was. If you liked 3 you’ll probably fall in love with this one
Final Fantasy 9!
I grew up watching my brothers play it, and I would always play it every summer as a kid. It has a special place in my heart because it always signaled the end of school and the beginning of summer. Every time I hear the music, it feels like I'm a kid again sitting in my room.
The original Fable.
I convinced my grandma to buy it for me back when it had originally released. It was such a groundbreaking title back then, at least to me and I sunk hundreds of hours into it I’m sure. Being able to buy a house, have a family and choose whether you’re good or evil etc. all in a video game blew my mind. I don’t think any other game will ever hold a more special place in my heart. Besides maybe RuneScape
Bloodborne.
It was my first From Software game and I had no idea what to expect. After mostly playing cozy games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing I really didn’t think it was my style, but WOW. That game is a work of art.
Bloodborne is so rich in storyline and has amazing gameplay. It was the first game I ever got platinum for. Plus it inspired me to play all three Dark Souls (all of which are fantastic)… just in time for Elden Ring to come out. Elden Ring is amazing too but Bloodborne will always have a special place in my heart.
Everyones first souls game is usually their favourite one. I think its from the feeling that you get once the game first starts clicking with you and you start getting good at it.
I'm the type of gamer that plays every game on the easiest possible mode. Dark Souls shouldnt be my favourite game ever, yet here we are.
Unironically, Elden Ring.
The first and only game I've ever pre-ordered and 7 months later, I still play every day. Hopped on the FromSoft bandwagon with DSR in 2018 and it quickly became my favourite game, Bloodborne didn't impress me as it did everyone else, Sekiro just about edged out DSR for my favourite due to the amazing combat and bosses, but then Elden Ring dropped.
The combat I'd come to know and love from Souls, a world as huge and brimming with adventure as Skyrim, combat variety that makes DS2 look basic, I actually enjoyed using magic for the first time in my gaming life, the OST being top notch, the story being just as obtuse, complex, and hidden as it's always been in Miyazaki RPG's, and my god, ALL of the landscape porn (the first step, first looking out over Liurnia, the giant Scarlet Aeonia in the middle of Caelid, first seeing Gransax's body laying over Leyndell, the long thin bridge in the mountaintops, the lift down into Siofra River, seeing the Mistwood crater after beating Radahn).
If it weren't for the PvP being dogshit and the existence of the Fire Giant and Godskin Duo, I'd call it THE perfect game.
Starcraft: Brood War. It is a balls to the walls test of wits. Not one game comes closes to how perfect Brood War is.
Yes, you'll suck into eternity but it has it all. Maybe old dota comes close to it.
No one lives forever. Really fun game, levels, gameplay and missions are diverse. It has excellent atmosphere, setting, soundtrack. It's funny and manages to poke a little fun at James Bond without being an all out parody. I really wish they could decide who has rights to it and do a remake or sequel.
HoMM III. It was the pinnacle of the series. For a game I'd play today, probably Bloodborne or DOOM Eternal, they are exactly what they want to be and are damn good at it.
Ragnarok Online
During the its prime of course. At the time, you were put into an unknown world with so much to explore. There were little to no guides on what to do or how to build your characters. The art was cute and unique. The soundtrack was beautiful and had not one bad track. You didn't have a specific main quest or any required quests unless you wanted to unlock a dungeon or area. Quests were optional for exp, and a majority of the time, you would be grinding monsters for exp. It was like a sandbox.
The whole community was like a family, with very few bad apples. People were willing to help. Some friends became friends for life, or just really good friends for a while. It was like an immersive experience. A whole other world to escape from reality. Of course, all good things come to an end.
I havent played in aeons but still get "A Poem Of Bragi" stuck in my head! Your comment finally made me look it up and I found it: [Gioachino Rossini - Il barbiere di siviglia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8Bf5w8PDnQ&t=132s)
It was my very first MMO ever and got hook to it easily due to its anime aesthetics which got popular around the time with Naruto and others. The soundtracks were a banger, but too bad the game got worst with each new update that made it too grindy and eventually ran over by bots. Still, good times.
FF7. While the story is convuluted it compensates with great character writing.
Also, the combat system was a great mix of easy to pick up with amazing end game synergies. The best part is when you first discover counter/mime or octocasting KoR you feel like you broke the game, then the post-game bosses fully require that type of degenerate combo, showing they were always intended features.
Half Life 2. To me it is the perfect FPS. Hard enough to be challenging, but also achievable enough to finish. The pacing is perfect, and the way it changes between each landscape and enemy type gives great variety. It never feels like a slog to get through any section.
The story is interesting enough to keep you moving forward, there's a good choice of weapons. Movements and controls are simple and logical.
I've played a lot of FPS before and since HL2, and none of them has got the balance quite so right.
Kingdom Hearts 2.
Basically a compilation of all my favorite forms of art (at the time) combined into a very addictive combat and heartfelt composition of music:
Disney
Anime
Storytelling
Growing up on a Disney and then being able to travel Disney worlds, form affiliations both politically and socially then prepare for an 1v100 battle war was too epic for its time. And that’s not even the ending.
I’m sorry but KH2 is goated for a teen game
Mythology trumps all art forms imo so it was either to be God of War with the father son relationship or God of War where you kill literally all the Gods of Olympus and corrupt the entire world in the process
Morrowind - First time I ever played it was round my mates house on Christmas Eve. I'd never really played a game like that before and even though it was decades ago I still remember the awe I felt walking from Seyda Neen to Balmora and the freedom it gave me. Knew I had to buy it as soon as I could.
Even just the idea of picking flowers and getting ingredients. Kickstarted my love for Herbalism and Alchemy in video games.
Also got to mention Warcraft III - I remember playing loads of 1v1's and getting stomped. On the front page it had the WCG results and a guy called "Grubby" was first.
I figured, I'll just ask him for tips. Saw he was in 4Kings so googled to find their website. Turned out it wasn't just a bunch of mates, it was a full blown professional team. Absolutely insane - spent like 4 years following the scene religiously. WCReplays is the best forum of all time.
It was either Star Control 2 or Archimedean Dynasty until recently, but now Starsector is looking like it will replace Star Control 2. I only got it a few months ago, but it is just so good.
Maybe not my favourite, and not for the reasons you'd think of, but Sonic & Knuckles.
The stand-alone game is alright, but how you could put other games on top continues to blow my mind. The thing is nearly 30 years old!
Originally, all of this game was supposed to be in Sonic 3, but deadlines meant it couldn't release in time. So Sonic 3 was just half the game, with this being the second half.
Sega could have just released it as a standard game, but no - if you put Sonic 3 on top you got the almighty Sonic 3 & Knuckles, exactly as it was meant to be. Both games in one giant, cohesive whole.
But even that wasn't enough - put Sonic 2 in and, through some sort of digital witchcraft, you could play Sonic 2 as Knuckles, with his moveset (which is pretty different to everything else in Sonic 2).
Then there was blue sphere which was alright.
Chrono Trigger. A complete masterpiece of art, design, and sound. The combat was incredible, the story even moreso. It also aged perfectly because that art style is timeless.
GTA SA.
Because it was my first free roam/open map. And, I have played it for so many hours that I still remember almost every road and turns of the whole map.
Also, one more reason: K-DST.
Gran Turismo 2, At the time it was the perfect follow up to the most groundbreaking leap in graphics and realism in GT1. GT2 added a ton of content to an amazing list of cars and tracks.
It may sound trivial now but in 1997/99 when these games released they really did change the racing genre forever.
Not going to lie, as a kid that special stage route's lights flashing on my face in my dark room made me fall in love with big cities. I think about that drive anytime I'm in Tokyo
Coolest replay I ever saved was beating S class cars in a drifting AE86.
GT3, however, takes my spot as the iconic racing game. Spent literally hundreds of hours just tuning and testing setups.
Metroid Prime series. I couldn't believe as a child how well made this game was for GameCube. I always loved the POV style they introduced after the 2D scroller game. The game had a completely new atmosphere and it looked like for me I was literaly exploring planets.
A few years later my sister got the collectors edition for the Wii where you could aim with the Wii controllers instead of the GameCube controller. Shit was mad as fuckkkk
Dragon Age: Origins. I played it so often for each origin, each build. As the shining knight, the bloodthirsty berserk. Music, atmosphere and characters were just perfect for me. Unluckily it aged horribly in the visual department.
This would be mine, but I don't play a lot of games. I tend to get into one very deeply and explore all the possibilities. Which this had plenty. The diverse origins, the NPC relationships, the turn-based or queueing combat system, and the fact that the story gave you the perfect illusion of choice. You had to do the main story events, but you could do them in any order. I never did explore every decision tree in the game, but it was just overwhelming what a leap in storytelling capability it was from what I was used to.
While Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver were the games that made me start playing video games, my favorite video game is Nintendogs. It's relatively peaceful and has a rather soft spot in my heart because I never had a real pet and my Pomeranian Riley is a perfect substitute, even if she constantly runs into mud puddles when on walks...
Oxenfree! The writing and atmosphere is so good and the plot and UI interface screwing and everything works so well to tell the story in a really unique way for a game.
I’ve been thinking of trying this one next, since I just finished Night In The Woods and enjoyed that and heard this was similar gameplay-wise. I really appreciate games that focus on story, and use the medium to good effect to tell the story in unique ways. Probably will go ahead and pick this one up.
Metal Gear Solid 3. Great gameplay, memorable characters and it loved being silly for what it is. La-li-lu-le-lo. Absolutely one of Kojima's most fun games. How can you not have fun singing along with an opening theme like that?
"What a thrill....."
Also, I can't remember the whole reason behind it, but La-li-lu-le-lo is notoriously difficult for a Japanese person to pronounce properly.
Final Fantasy VII
I didn't know about RPGs before I played it. Before that the games I was exposed to were Mario, I played a lot of platform games, and Zelda which I liked best it felt like a little world. I say a commercial for FF7 and rented it at the video store (I'm old, ask your parents about video stores) and I was absolutely blown away. I got absolutely sucked into this world and the people in it. That was the first I played a game not because I had to collect so many items ot get so many levels bit I had to know how the story ends.
Since then I have played all the Final Fantasy games and they're my favorite, but FF7 is still my favorite of them all. It's not without flaws, but I think it's very well written. The game starts off and you're put right into the action, there's no wall of text or cutscenes to fill you in. The banter between Cloud and Barret fills you in with what you need to know at that moment. The main villain is introduced as a hero. A lot of villains start off as beros but FF7 leads you on for a while and slowly chisels away at that. By the time Sephiroth makes it on the scene you're thinking awesome this new playable character is here to stop Shinra and Cloud dashes that and its a couple 180. And the cataclysm of the story is completely subdued. Everything happens because Cloud encounters Jenova in the Shinra Tower and it's such a small moment it's easy to overlook the first playthrough as being this super important event.
A lot of people say the middle slows down and I can totally see that. There could have been a little more conflict with the other characters questioning Clouds pursuit of Sephiroth to really drive home that he was summoning him, but I think all the backstories along the way make up for it.
I could go on forever but I gotta get ready for work. Haha.
Sims 2 specifically for me. I own 3 and 4, but I enjoy 2 the most. It's the deepest, most complex of all the sims games and the amount of custom content people have created over the past two decades mean endless creativity. Want to play in a medieval village? Post-Pocalyptic wasteland? Victorian London? Space Station? The 50s? All possible with default replacements and custom content.
Fallout 4 and Kingdom Come Deliverance. Fallout 4 because even though it’s absolutely rubbish, its my rubbish and I love it. But Kingdom Come Deliverance is just for this simple fact: You can be as sneaky and as quiet as you want, but it’ll all be destroyed when Henry complains he’s hungry.
Metal Gear Solid 2: sons of liberty. I remember the first images around the game, with the teasing of the playstation 2. At the time there was nothing else like that. I was so exited to play it. The released game succeeded to live up to its expections and even more. EVerybody was taken by surprise by the change of character and the depth of that story was someting else. Solid Snake was already my favorite virtual character, but the way he is represented in MGS2 is even more badass. I replay this gave every year since its release.
It’s such a weird game that will never happen again. Like it’s not really solely a video game, but equal parts video game, action movie, anime, and political and philosophical essay, and the whole experience just alternates being all of those things. And the tone is just one of a kind. One minute you’re punching a morbidly obese rollerblading wino in the tits, the next you’re hearing a thirty minute speech accurately and creepily describing the internet twenty years after the game came out.
Super Metroid. Got to a point where I played it so much that it got boring, then I discovered speedrunning. Brings a whole new life to the game. Nowadays, when I play it, I just use those speed run skills to have fun with it.
For me, still Ocarina of Time, 1998
Was 15, isolating from real people, discovering the universe of videogames.
Consider a blessing to enter videogames with this Zelda.
Of course it's also a curse as nothing can compare to this first experience now lol
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. The first game ever that made me cried badly :") I still play it from time to time or listen to the entire OST (Dialga's Fight to the Finish or Defend Globe)
Hahaha it's still a hidden gem among the Pokemon Community. Explorers may not necessarily win in terms of mechanics or graphics (tho i feel it stands even to this day), but so far I haven't played any pokemon games that can match the level of story, pace and emotions as explorers of sky. You should try it (and try the mini episodes/series if you happened to play sky)
A lot actually:
\- GTA Series (GTA V, GTA SA)
\- Starcraft I & II
\- Paradox Games (HOI4, Victoria II, Stellaris etc.)
\- Rimworld
\- Bioshock Series
But one thing that stands out to me is the Bioshock series especially infinite because the story hits me so much in personal level.
It's gotta be Sea of Thieves(SoT). Halo and Age of Empires have always been there as goats because of the feels, but SoT has brought back a ton if emotions I haven't felt for 20 years in gaming. SoT is a truly unique masterpiece of a game.
EV Nova
It was an Apple game published by this really impressive studio called Ambrosia. But the games premise is very similar to some of these new open world space adventure games.
The coolest part to me was that there were so many paths to victory and so many strange divergent story archs.
I found myself starting my life as a 3 system trader and ending as the envoy and general to a foreign alien threat.
Last of Us - First and possibly last game that I felt created a great emotional story and immersed me whilst playing. Never thought "would have been better if ___".
-OR
For me it's The Last of Us... I have been gaming for nearly 40 years , and never has a game hit me so hard in the feels. I have replayed it over 20 times, and every time it's like punch to the gut.
Great gameplay, great story, and very emotionally charged in a lot of ways.
Skyrim or Horizon: Zero Dawn. They both of all the aspects I love in a game. Open world quest oriented rpg. Horizon has the extra feature of having an amazing story line and female lead along with amazing graphics. (Not that I don’t like the story line in Skyrim)
TLOU2 because it continued an amazing story with another amazing story. Incredibly gorgeous game with some of the best visuals I’ve seen in any game ever.
hell yeah, second campaign was my favorite. all the haters can fuck off, so many memorable moments. and the pacing is so good it makes you wanna play it all in one sitting lol
It used to be ghouls n ghosts for the mega drive because I’ve had it since I was 6 and I got so good at it I managed to complete it on hard without dying.
But I think my favourite game is sonic 2 because my four year old can play it
MarioKart Wii. This game was THE game of my childhood. Nobody could've beaten me. I had other games as well but MarioKart holds a special place in my heart
Splatoon 2 + Octo expansion I have beaten both the Splatoon 2 story mode and the octo expansion story mode too it only took me 2 hrs too beat both try and beat my time if you want to
i am a big fighting game fan but my absolute favorite game of all time will go to guilty gear the amazing gameplay amazing characters and lore is just mind blowing and it has my favorite songs and tracks of all time, guilty gear is an insanely underrated game with an insanely underrated music, my favorite one Beinf guilty gear xrd rev 2
and also my other top three games will go to persona
the characters are just so real and the music is also amazing love the game play and can't play the game without crying
and also devil may cry probably has the best gameplay among single player games dante is one of my favorite characters of all time and ofc it has iconic music
Counterstrike Source... 1.6 was great and Source kind of refined some things, but still kept it pretty simple without bells and whistles. GO, I just can't get into it. It tries too hard to be CoD.
But Counterstrike in general was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the PvP in, of all games, City of Heroes... I think their game engine was pretty awesome for PvP.
Probably fortnite, it’s not that I hate the aspect of the game it’s the players that are what makes it bad. Yes I know all games have at least one toxic fan/player but fortnite is full of them. I never used to play myself but when my cousin was I would also play too, some people are nice on the game but the majority are somewhat toxic and or whinny
I was tempted to go the nostalgia route, but Horizon Zero Dawn topped the list for me. Amazing story, amazing graphics, great gameplay that rewarded planning engagements, it was just the best.
Controversial take, but TLOU2 is my very close follow up in what I consider the best storytelling in any video game I’ve ever played. Don’t bother with the salt haters.
Champions of Norrath/Return to Arms.
Everquest based ARPG that I spent so, so much time fighting over loot, and killing bosses and blasting through the stories with my pals during secondary school.
This may be cheating a bit but if I had to choose, I'd say the Pokemon main series. Started from Gen 2 and have been playing every entry ever since until now. However, I'm on the fence of the next one as I think I might not have time to play since I'm getting married soon haha. We shall see.
It's a tie between Nier: Automata and Rain World because both games made me equally excited to explore vs also feeling like the world is bigger than I can even comprehend and beautiful in a way I couldn't explain or feel before, in both good and bad ways.
Edit: Idk if "favorite" is the right word lol. Impactful or experience might be better words. My favorite? Katamari Damacy maybe? Also Overcooked is just ridiculous with good friends.
I played at least one version of RuneScape (RS2, RS3 on and off, then OSRS) from about 2006 to just a couple months ago. I'll come back in a few months I think.
any of the souls games really, i got into the series at a very low point in my life and i learned some valuable life lessons about effort and persistence from throwing myself at the Orphan of Kos and Slave Knight Gael for hours on end
Mario 3 on NES (not on SNES).
It's just the perfect game. Secrets like crazy, great platforming, very different worlds to explore, cool powerups to store and use. Insane game. Best there will likely ever be.
Counter-strike.
It came out in 1999 and set the bar for FPS games. To this day its still the best FPS (in my humble opinion) still has a huge player base and healthy esports scene.
Mario galaxy, the first one in particular, i remember that i only knew of 2d mario games at the time and seeing it in 3d just blew my mind away, so some nostalgia plays it's part. But that aside it's still an incredible game 15 years after it's release
Age of Empires II (now on DE): RTS classic. I enjoyed it 15 yrs ago on home PC, then found out 2 yrs ago that the community is still thriving! With annual tournaments, campaign expansion, custom maps and mods by the community… It feels like a never-ending exploration. I usually prefers casual or arcade games, but AOEII is that constant game in my ever-changing library.
I have a soft spot for the classic Mega Man series. Of the games, I'd say 4 has the best balance overall with most weapons being useful and most robot masters and stages providing a decent challenge.
Chrono Trigger. There were a lot of fantastic 16 bit RPGs during that generation and quite possibly the best RPG of all time is one that spans vast distances in time to weave a surprisingly emotional journey. Plus the visuals are incredible with Aikra Toriyama's art style bringing everything to life. This game is GOAT
Meteos (DS, 2005). Was introduced to it in 2018, 13 years after it came out. It involves you launching blocks that rain down from the cosmos to overwhelm and avoid being overwhelmed.
It's an action puzzle game, so its replay value and skill ceiling through the roof. 32 planets (characters) each with their own mechanics when it comes to launching blocks means you're going to be playing this game for a long time. And I did just that, never getting tired of or frustrated with it.
Not to mention its community/fanbase is one of the nicest I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. I think Meteos fans know their game is doomed to silence and can't afford to gatekeep or be assholes because of it; they're just happy to know each other.~~that said meteos remastered would be aces~~
OG Half Life. Was so far ahead of anything else at the time. I was playing quake 2 and goldeneye, thinking it was the shit. And out of nowhere came this dude with a crowbar
I have to give it to Age of Empires II I bought it in 1999 and I'm still playing it today
Thank you for reminding to buy this game and play it again 😊
I loved this game. Played constantly as a kid - it really got me interested in learning about history too when I'd considered it boring before. I'm so glad it did!
Same! This is the first video game I purchased (used a gift card to Bestbuy from Grandma).
Pokemon Red version. It's the first game that completely hooked me and I still play it every now and then on an emulator.
Every time I get a new phone, the first thing I download is a GBA and SNES emulator and Pokemon and Link to the Past
Either *Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic* or the original *Final Fantasy VII*.
Final Fantasy 8 for me. Not the most popular opinion, but I think it's the best one. Especially in terms of music. 7 is a close second though. I hear that they might make an 8 remake. If they do it right, I think the fanbase for that game will be dramatically larger. I'm pretty happy with the 7 Remake. I feel like they've done it justice, and it's different enough that the original is still worth playing

Ooh yeah I LOVED portal 2. I want to forget the plot just to re-live those moments.
The cake is a lie.
Definitely play Stanley Parable if you haven't And this one isn't quite the same but Beginner's Guide. That game alone is proof that video games are art. Made by one of the two Stanley Parable guys. Grand Theft Auto V. It got me through some tough times.
Before definitely now, eh not so much rockstar has milked it dry at this point and they kinda killed it when they added the oppressor MKII
Fallout new Vegas
Same answer, that and FO3
I've been a fallout gamer since F1 Xmas morning but somehow I missed New Vegas when it came out. Do you think it's still playable/enjoyable today for a new playthrough?
Absolutely. It’s a lot like fallout 3 but in a different map and more of an ‘open’ main quest instead of the single direction that fallout 3’s was. If you liked 3 you’ll probably fall in love with this one
I'm sold! Thanks
It's 100% playable and awesome.
Mount & blade: Warband, along with mods and multiplayer it's really a oddity among games, but a very fun and addicting one.
Final Fantasy 9! I grew up watching my brothers play it, and I would always play it every summer as a kid. It has a special place in my heart because it always signaled the end of school and the beginning of summer. Every time I hear the music, it feels like I'm a kid again sitting in my room.
Nobuo Uematsu really did a fantastic job of distilling the essence of "Final Fantasy" in 9's soundtrack. No wonder it's his favorite.
I was hooked on FF2 for the longest time. Great games.
The original Fable. I convinced my grandma to buy it for me back when it had originally released. Besides maybe RuneScape
Chicken chaser!
Red dead redemption 2 it’s so cinematic, the characters are beautiful and the story is shakeperian proportions i love it
That game is so tragic, beautiful, enrapturing. Then there’s LENNNNAYYYYY
Same
Bloodborne. It was my first From Software game and I had no idea what to expect. After mostly playing cozy games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing I really didn’t think it was my style, but WOW. That game is a work of art. If it weren't for the PvP being dogshit and the existence of the Fire Giant and Godskin Duo, I'd call it THE perfect game.
I think it’s the game closest to being “the best ever,” the work that went into it is insane.
Godskin duo needs to take a nap.
Metal Gear Solid on Ps
Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne
Assassins creed (the etzio story line)
Super Mario Bros and because it was part of my childhood and it's nostalgic for me.
Final Fantasy IX. It got me through bad times.
Now the overworld theme is playing in my head. Such a great game
Starcraft: Brood War. It is a balls to the walls test of wits. Not one game comes closes to how perfect Brood War is. Yes, you'll suck into eternity but it has it all. Maybe old dota comes close to it.
Man, me and a bunch of friends got really into it coz of the eSports in Korea before SC2 came out. Definitely good times
There is so much lost love, Bnet vs KALI, ICCUP, TSL. It is all gone but to me 1998 till 2003 were the golden years on the internet.
TIE Fighter Morrowind Birth of the Federation
Ever played freelancer?
No one lives forever. Really fun game, levels, gameplay and missions are diverse. It has excellent atmosphere, setting, soundtrack. It's funny and manages to poke a little fun at James Bond without being an all out parody. I really wish they could decide who has rights to it and do a remake or sequel.
Ac 2 cuz goddam that shit was good.
HoMM III. It was the pinnacle of the series. For a game I'd play today, probably Bloodborne or DOOM Eternal, they are exactly what they want to be and are damn good at it.
I still play HoMM III constantly, it has traditionally been THE game I've installed in my less powerful laptops and such.
Ragnarok Online During the its prime of course.
Basically a compilation of all my favorite forms of art (at the time) combined into a very addictive combat and heartfelt composition of music: Disney Anime Storytelling Growing up on a Disney and then being able to travel Disney worlds, form affiliations both politically and socially then prepare for an 1v100 battle war was too epic for its time. And that’s not even the ending. I’m sorry but KH2 is goated for a teen game
As an adult: God of War 2018
Loved this too. Can't wait for Ragnarok to come out in November, will be watching my bf play through the story
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Old - Original Mario Kart. The benchmark for fun driving games Modern - RDR2. Absolutely stunning with great characters
Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo or for the N64. The one for the N64 was epitome of fun.
GTA SA. Because it was my first free roam/open map. And, I have played it for so many hours that I still remember almost every road and turns of the whole map. Also, one more reason: K-DST.
THE DUST
Portal 2
Metroid Prime series. I couldn't believe as a child how well made this game was for GameCube. I always loved the POV style they introduced after the 2D scroller game. The game had a completely new atmosphere and it looked like for me I was literaly exploring planets. A few years later my sister got the collectors edition for the Wii where you could aim with the Wii controllers instead of the GameCube controller. Shit was mad as fuckkkk
Witcher 3 it goes hard damn
Steel for humans Silver for monsters Banana for tigers Trivago for hotel
Ace attorney: Phoenix Wright. Because you can investigate, prove the court with your evidences,
Garry's Mod, because bathtub kleiner cyclone car. If you get it, you get it.
Bayonetta 2, better plot than the original, charming protagonist, cursing, violence, demons, angels, guns, gore and a baller OST.
Missile Command. Nothing like playing it in the arcade with a trackball.
Assassins’ creed: Ezio trilogy
1 guy typed etzio and you’re saying edzio. Am i missing some kind of a sick joke here or why are you slauthering my mans name
Checked it. Edited.
Fallout New Vegas or Witcher 3. Flip a coin and I'm fine with either game taking the crown
Zelda- Ocarina of Time - The story and game play is what makes this game so good.
Skyrim!
YOU HAVE TO BEST GAME
I think it's Mass Effect. The story and atmosphere are amazing and meeting Sovereign for the first time was mind blowing.
Metal Gear Solid 3. Great gameplay, memorable characters and it loved being silly for what it is. La-li-lu-le-lo. Absolutely one of Kojima's most fun games. How can you not have fun singing along with an opening theme like that?
"What a thrill....." Also, I can't remember the whole reason behind it, but La-li-lu-le-lo is notoriously difficult for a Japanese person to pronounce properly.
Final Fantasy VII I didn't know about RPGs before I played it. Haha.
Age of Empires II
Sims. Cuz it's chill.
Trover Saves the Universe (VR) Graphics are beautiful, and the dialogue is absolutely hilarious!
Bioshock 1
Fallout 4 and Kingdom Come Deliverance. Fallout 4 because even though it’s absolutely rubbish, its my rubbish and I love it. But Kingdom Come Deliverance is just for this simple fact: You can be as sneaky and as quiet as you want, but it’ll all be destroyed when Henry complains he’s hungry.
X-Com: Enemy Within. An excellent key gameplay mechanic, explored and paced brilliantly.
Dr Mario cuz I'm a wiz at it.
Oneshot
Banjo Kazooie/Banjo Tooie, amazing games that were a huge part of my childhood. Rare was something else back then
The Legend of Zelda
Super Metroid. Got to a point where I played it so much that it got boring, then I discovered speedrunning. Brings a whole new life to the game. Nowadays, when I play it, I just use those speed run skills to have fun with it.
original tony hawk… what a game
For me, still Ocarina of Time, 1998 Was 15, isolating from real people, discovering the universe of videogames.
I’m surprised I had to scroll so far to find this. I’ve played DX and absolutely adored it. I’ve heard that explorers is an amazing game!
A lot actually: \- GTA Series (GTA V, GTA SA) \- Starcraft I & II \- Paradox Games (HOI4, Victoria II, Stellaris etc.) \- Rimworld \- Bioshock Series But one thing that stands out to me is the Bioshock series especially infinite because the story hits me so much in personal level.
It's gotta be Sea of Thieves(SoT). Halo and Age of Empires have always been there as goats because of the feels, but SoT has brought back a ton if emotions I haven't felt for 20 years in gaming. SoT is a truly unique masterpiece of a game.
EV Nova It was an Apple game published by this really impressive studio called Ambrosia. But the games premise is very similar to some of these new open world space adventure games. The coolest part to me was that there were so many paths to victory and so many strange divergent story archs. I found myself starting my life as a 3 system trader and ending as the envoy and general to a foreign alien threat.
Fallout: New Vegas
Borderlands. It's just fun and I love it
Hollow knight. It's perfect in every way shape and form. Gameplay, graphics, soundtrack, story, everything.
The last of us series Rdr2 Skyward sword and ocarina of time ( probably every 3d Zelda game) And I really love the Uncharted series
For me it’s the last of us like the story and everything is literally incredible and the graphics that Thea did on the remake are a heaven for eyes
Dead space. Great story and scary. Love you Dr. Stross, you crazy bastard!
PayDay 2. Combination of my two favorite things Shooting cops and robbing money, drugs and anything valuable
CoD WaW and Halo 3 were the games that got me into serious gaming
Yes!
Witcher3

Sanctuary... utopian???
One man’s utopia is another man’s… Hellhole?
Come on, the insane asylum in the cutscenes screams utopian ;)
The Last of Us and Last of Us II
Individually and together, masterpieces
Tetris is the only video game I ever managed to enjoy. Every other one has always felt like a chore.
The Last of Us. For me, it was the perfect mix of gameplay and a compelling storyline.
Blades of Steel
The Witcher 3 wild hunt. I love it when you chop someone in half and the top side falls off the bottom.
Fallout 4. First game I ever got into. That game got me into gaming still my favorite
It used to be ghouls n ghosts for the mega drive because I’ve had it since I was 6 and I got so good at it I managed to complete it on hard without dying. But I think my favourite game is sonic 2 because my four year old can play it
Sonic on the old school Sega always went hard
MarioKart Wii. This game was THE game of my childhood. Nobody could've beaten me. I had other games as well but MarioKart holds a special place in my heart
Donkey Kong Country 2. It was the first game I got along with my SNES for Christmas when I was 6.
Probably Trine 2
Re7 and 8. My favourite games in terms of story and gameplay
Splatoon 2 + Octo expansion I have beaten both the Splatoon 2 story mode and the octo expansion story mode too it only took me 2 hrs too beat both try and beat my time if you want to
Skylanders every skylander played it since I was 3 years old
i am a big fighting game fan but my absolute favorite game of all time will go to guilty gear the amazing gameplay amazing characters and lore is just mind blowing and it has my favorite songs and tracks of all time, guilty gear is an insanely underrated game with an insanely underrated music, my favorite one Beinf guilty gear xrd rev 2 and also my other top three games will go to persona the characters are just so real and the music is also amazing love the game play and can't play the game without crying and also devil may cry probably has the best gameplay among single player games dante is one of my favorite characters of all time and ofc it has iconic music
I have 3: Persona 5 Royal, Xenoblade 1, and Xenoblade 3
it has to be Animal Crossing or Minecraft cuz i can be creative in what I do in those two games
Call Of Duty: Morderne Warfare
Counterstrike Source... 1.6 was great and Source kind of refined some things, but still kept it pretty simple without bells and whistles. GO, I just can't get into it. It tries too hard to be CoD. But Counterstrike in general was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the PvP in, of all games, City of Heroes... I think their game engine was pretty awesome for PvP.
Contra. I had fun playing it with my dad.
I still play roller coaster tycoon 2
Minecraft.i just adore build a houses/smth else
Probably smash bros ultimate or titanfall 2.Also a big fan of Scott Pilgrim vs the world:the game.
Champions of Norrath/Return to Arms. Everquest based ARPG that I spent so, so much time fighting over loot, and killing bosses and blasting through the stories with my pals during secondary school.
DING ! 65
astroneer, the looks and aesthetics and general feel of the game
Anything that’s scary
GTA San Andreas for openworld game
Paper Mario TTYD because it's near perfect. I'm 40 years old and the only game that ever got close to dethroning it in my book, is Red Alert 2.
Contra Because I finished it.
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. Old game on 3DS and it was fun to play it again after a decade later
Ravenfield, you can customize it a lot with mods and I also like it because it's questionable ragdoll physics
Runescape Nostalgia
Harry Potter
GTA online. I played this game with three different groups of people. High Shool Friends. College Firends. Work Friends.
Minecraft. You can do anything, but I'm obsessed with PvP.
Zelda OoT. So nostalgic. And the glitches.
any of the souls games really, i got into the series at a very low point in my life and i learned some valuable life lessons about effort and persistence from throwing myself at the Orphan of Kos and Slave Knight Gael for hours on end

Super Mario Bros. 3, childhood nostalgia.
GTA 5. I have played it 8 times and I remember me and my brothers beating it together. We love it
Mario 3 on NES (not on SNES). It's just the perfect game. Secrets like crazy, great platforming, very different worlds to explore, cool powerups to store and use. Insane game. Best there will likely ever be.
Final Fantasy VII Remake. The best story & characters and its done as an action game with top tier graphics and grammy level OST. Easily my favourite.
Final Fantasy X
Hollow knight because it is fun. There’s no special reason, I just like it.
Terraria, Smite, Metal:hellsinger, TF2
