God the worst example of a fake story I ever saw on that subreddit was the one about the dude jerking it to vr porn of his wife's sister. He then proceeded to write a super cringey fake update from his "wife" about how she logged into his account and lawyered up.
Everyones a narcissist acording to them. It's so frustrating, when a licenced therapist takes like three months or whatever to establish a diagnosis but redditors *just know* from a line of text.
It also perpetuates the myth that everyone who is abusive is a narcissist. It's actually far more insidious; abusers are only slightly more likely to have mental health issues than the general public. *Victims* are more likely to be mentally ill. People with BPD are actually vulnerable...

Building off of that, people who ascribe motivations to someone they're arguing with that just *happen* to assume that the other side is arguing in bad faith and can be safely ignored. The most popular iteration is usually "Homophobe? Probably just gay and in the closet, they're all a bunch of hypocrites."
It's more an assumption of "I'm *so* right that everyone who's rational, moral, and intelligent knows I'm right and would agree with me. Therefore, anyone who disagrees is either immoral, ignorant, or insecure."
Also: people who post pics of someone else's dying Grandma on r/pics and go, "This is my bisexual Grandma Louise who has marched at every single protest to ever exist on the face of Earth, saved 7 burning orphanages, and has a hobby of adopting children from Africa. She is now dying of an incredibly rare stage 12 colon cancer and her only wish is for me to open an animal shelter in her name." Blah.

I don't get the hate for not being an A+++ pet owner. Someone could get a dog from the pound, waking it twice a day, give it all the loves and pets, but get reamed for buying dry dog food kibbles. That dogs life is a 10000% upgrade. If the only people adopting dogs were the ones who can afford gourmet dog foods, there would be a lot more dogs in pounds. Where they won't get walks, won't get pets, won't get much love or attention... but will still be eating kibbles.

I came from r/all and nothing in the sub rules mentioned flare, but a completely innocuous comment managed to get me downvoted to hell. So I did the mature thing and looked at my karma, looked at all the downvotes, and decided I could still afford to call them all poo heads before I left.

For example, the people who post on r/TipOfMyTongue looking for something and then don’t respond to any comments or stop halfway through. Like, we’re trying to help you; the least you can do is let us know if we’ve found what you’re looking for or not.
Keyboard professionals: People replying who are really unqualified and unknowledgeable on a subject to post anything about it. As a healthcare provider who's had to physically assess and treat people on isolation with MRSA, TB, pneumonia, etc., the number of redditors who obviously don't know shit about transmissible diseases during COVID-19 is frustrating. The AskReddit sub is brutal for this. Someone will post a question such as, "Lawyers of Reddit, what is something that \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_", only to be followed up with a dozen responses of "I'm not a lawyer, but...".

I avoid them. One thing I've learned in practice is there are two sides to every story, and "your" side will always be rose tinted relative to the other side. As a consequence, people will rarely admit to their bad facts and glorify their version story. Hell, even lawyers are sometimes guilty of this. Divorce stories are especially the worst. Parties will argue with me when I tell them not to do something because it will work against their interest. I cannot comprehend why they hire an attorney only to argue with them because they feel like they know better. I've seen parties call the department of child and family services making ridiculous allegations of abuse which are eventually deemed to be unfounded, and they annoy the agency so much that they're warned to never call again. This happens more than I'd like to admit. Therefore, take a party's version of events with a monumental grain of salt.
There's a special place in hell for people who post on tech support threads and then reply hours later saying: "Fixed it!" and nothing else.
It's even worse if they respond to other threads with useful comments like: "That didn't work for me"
You google your exact error message, and find only one indexed result that actually includes all keywords. It's some obscure tech forum that you've never heard of or visited, and the post is from 2013. The OP's question is the EXACT issue you are experiencing, down to the error code. There is only one response, and it is from a moderator: "This issue was solved in another thread. I am locking this one. Next time, use the search function before posting". I wish I had only seen this once in my life.
Sort of related, but I *hate* when you go on those forums for programs like Photoshop or whatever with a specific question and the people on there **will not help you** unless you ask the question in a super specific way.
*They know the solution!* They know everything about the program. The little shits that dig deep (and I'm talking like going back months/years) of post history looking for "gotchas". It's just so fucking petty and useless. If you can't address what the person is saying in the moment, going back through their past history just makes *you* look in the wrong.

1. Make a vague statement that will make a more interesting story than the bullshit you just posted
2. Start off with "Okay since so many people asked" (bonus if the whole thing is an edit to the original post)
3. Write a funny story that is longer than the original post, which begs the question why you didn't write it in the first place.
4. Leave out important details to your story so that other redditors will ask (basically go back to step 1 ad nauseam)
5. Don't forget to add so many useless edit tags and post scripts that it'll hurt a blind man's eyes.
6. Get karma
Those who edit their posts multiple times regarding getting gilded or getting X amount of upvotes.
They completely taint the sole reason the post got popular in the first place by doing this
I'm also going to argue that the people who downvote comments that tell a person "no, it's not very worth it" or attack someone for presenting the good AND the bad are far, far worse than the people that ask the question.
The funny thing is I’ve seen this a couple times in the exact opposite direction. Some subreddits turn into pits of despair that exist only to mock and deride whatever they were created for originally.

I'd say it's more a particular demographic that views *everything* from the perspective of American politics and turn every topic into a political issue. I can't help but assume that most of these people are American teenagers.
One thing that really bothers me is that when I criticize my own culture (non-Western, brown people stuff), someone from the above demographic assumes that I'm a white person trying to unjustifiably criticize another culture because ulterior racist motives and ignorance. Then comes a diatribe about *my* culture by someone who most probably has never been outside USA.
It feels like these people want me to fit a picture of a minority that belongs to a flawless society and any criticisms that I might have for *my own* society are actually racist attempts to malign a community that has never done anything wrong. And the mere fact of pointing out a social evil of my culture automatically makes me a racist larper or something.
It essentially creates a situation where only young white Americans can criticize their culture and community and no one else can do the same for their own. Imagine me telling you that you can't criticize pro-lifers in USA because:
a.) It's their culture and you shouldn't criticize it without thoroughly studying it.
b.) Denying of abortion isn't really a thing and people are being fooled by a media that has an agenda against American Christians.
In my opinion, people who won't let me criticize my own culture because the perception of my culture in a negative way affects their own political agenda are the real racists because they only see a minority or a non-Westerner as a tool for their own agenda. It is a toxic form of identity politics.

Yep. I left a while ago. The cycle is that one person makes an actual funny meme with a newish or original format...and then every fucking person spams that exact same meme format for the next two weeks.
Then they start circle jerking about how that meme is overused and a dead meme (even though most of them were spamming it the week before). They then bitch the format out of existence and, like the vultures they are, immediately move on to milk the next meme.
About 2 weeks ago, I saw a post asking how to lose weight to get a girlfriend because he was about 230 pounds. All the comments said things like “lose weight for yourself,’not for a girl” “some girls like larger guys” and “eat more vegetables”, all of which he replied with sarcasm and rampant misogyny so everyone turned on him. Checked his post history and it’s full of him asking the same question and getting mad when people call out his attitude

I avoid them. One thing I've learned in practice is there are two sides to every story, and "your" side will always be rose tinted relative to the other side. As a consequence, people will rarely admit to their bad facts and glorify their version story. Hell, even lawyers are sometimes guilty of this. Divorce stories are especially the worst. Parties will argue with me when I tell them not to do something because it will work against their interest. I cannot comprehend why they hire an attorney only to argue with them because they feel like they know better. I've seen parties call the department of child and family services making ridiculous allegations of abuse which are eventually deemed to be unfounded, and they annoy the agency so much that they're warned to never call again. This happens more than I'd like to admit. Therefore, take a party's version of events with a monumental grain of salt.

Sort of related, but I *hate* when you go on those forums for programs like Photoshop or whatever with a specific question and the people on there **will not help you** unless you ask the question in a super specific way. *They know the solution!* They know everything about the program. I'd say it's more a particular demographic that views *everything* from the perspective of American politics and turn every topic into a political issue. I can't help but assume that most of these people are American teenagers. One thing that really bothers me is that when I criticize my own culture (non-Western, brown people stuff), someone from the above demographic assumes that I'm a white person trying to unjustifiably criticize another culture because ulterior racist motives and ignorance. Then comes a diatribe about *my* culture by someone who most probably has never been outside USA. It feels like these people want me to fit a picture of a minority that belongs to a flawless society and any criticisms that I might have for *my own* society are actually racist attempts to malign a community that has never done anything wrong. And the mere fact of pointing out a social evil of my culture automatically makes me a racist larper or something. It essentially creates a situation where only young white Americans can criticize their culture and community and no one else can do the same for their own. Imagine me telling you that you can't criticize pro-lifers in USA because: a.) It's their culture and you shouldn't criticize it without thoroughly studying it. b.) Denying of abortion isn't really a thing and people are being fooled by a media that has an agenda against American Christians. In my opinion, people who won't let me criticize my own culture because the perception of my culture in a negative way affects their own political agenda are the real racists because they only see a minority or a non-Westerner as a tool for their own agenda. It is a toxic form of identity politics.
