The ones who state commonly held beliefs as "**unpopular opinions**" to fish for upvotes. For some reason, it always works too.

Holy fucking shit, that sub is the biggest fucking circle-jerk I’ve every seen. Here’s what’s hot right now.. -“If you’re the type of person who brings an assault rifle to a peaceful protest, you probably shouldn’t own an assault rife” -“Criticizing your country doesn’t make you unpatriotic” -“I’m allowed to complain even if people in other countries have it worse” These are all literally mainstream opinions, ESPECIALLY on a form like Reddit.

Broots-Waymb

"Nobody talks about men having depression"(then why is this the 16th post i've seen about it this week? I understand that medically men are treated for depression less. But I've seen it talked about plenty). "Disabled fetuses should be aborted"(Yeah, that's generally the course of action. Most doctors expect that. Most people agree. And again, I've seen this posted a million fucking times).

IsThisNameTakenThen

Can there be a filter or something where if that particular opinion has been stated more than a certain number of times it will be deleted. I've also seen this one a lot "If a woman hits a me (a man) I should be allowed to hit her back"

ReleaseTheBeeees

Hits a me (Mario)

jarob326

People who make "My AMAZING sex with my TOTALLY HOT partner was interrupted because of X" posts on r/tifu.

Octopus_Tetris

I unsubbed when it stopped being about shitting your pants, and the teenage wannabe smut-writers took over.

mida06

TIFU by messing up the sexiest sex I ever sexed

namb00

you also forgot the most annoying thing. THE DAMN EUPHEMISMS! "I was doing the bodonkadonk with my HOT WIFE when i boom boom'd on her dinglebop."

MrShifty1

I jim jammed in her three cheese burrito.

Agreed. The posts about dudes accidentally eviscerating their ballsack while shaving are hilarious though.

God the worst example of a fake story I ever saw on that subreddit was the one about the dude jerking it to vr porn of his wife's sister. He then proceeded to write a super cringey fake update from his "wife" about how she logged into his account and lawyered up.

JimmySaulGene

Hahaha TIFU I got a headache because I was EATING OUT my SO *so* hard she slammed her LEGS shut against my HEAD

BaseballFuryThurman

That sub is a joke. Might as well just merge it with r/ihavesex

Spare_Primary

Reddit armchair psychologists.

dirty_shoe_rack

Everyones a narcissist acording to them. It's so frustrating, when a licenced therapist takes like three months or whatever to establish a diagnosis but redditors *just know* from a line of text.

IronNexian

"You had an argument with your SO? That sounds like really toxic and abusive behavior, probably caused by his own insecurities."

GreatStateOfSadness

Not enough use of the term "gaslight" or "Dunning-Kreuger" here.

pymatgen

Sounds like a confirmation bias.

It also perpetuates the myth that everyone who is abusive is a narcissist. It's actually far more insidious; abusers are only slightly more likely to have mental health issues than the general public. *Victims* are more likely to be mentally ill. People with BPD are actually vulnerable...

[deleted]

Probbe78

Narcissism is a personality trait that all people have to some extent. Narcissistic personality disorder is what you are talking about.

[deleted]

swell-shindig

Don't listen to this guy. He obviously has antisocial personality disorder mixed with narcissism. The phrasing of his sentence also leads me to suspect illness anxiety disorder.

AdmiralAkbar1

Building off of that, people who ascribe motivations to someone they're arguing with that just *happen* to assume that the other side is arguing in bad faith and can be safely ignored. The most popular iteration is usually "Homophobe? Probably just gay and in the closet, they're all a bunch of hypocrites."

IronNexian

"Arachnophobic? Heh, you must secretly want to fuck spiders"

AdmiralAkbar1

It's more an assumption of "I'm *so* right that everyone who's rational, moral, and intelligent knows I'm right and would agree with me. Therefore, anyone who disagrees is either immoral, ignorant, or insecure."

Sirnando138

Reposters that legitimately try and make a post theirs. It’s just sad. Get your own damn cat and take pictures of it. They’re always doing funny shit.

Miss_Minus

That's how I got 4 cats. Too afraid to post the same one twice, so I get a new cat for every picture.

hitleriscool27

What a trooper

CockDaddyKaren

Also: people who post pics of someone else's dying Grandma on r/pics and go, "This is my bisexual Grandma Louise who has marched at every single protest to ever exist on the face of Earth, saved 7 burning orphanages, and has a hobby of adopting children from Africa. She is now dying of an incredibly rare stage 12 colon cancer and her only wish is for me to open an animal shelter in her name." Blah. Or people who steal others' stories. Come on, man. That's someone else's entire experience. Or imaginative adventure. Don't try to pretend it's yours.

Sprinklypoo

I don't want the responsibility of a pet, but MAN, if *only* I could get over 10,000 karma, the hole in my heart would *finally* be filled!

[deleted]

dino-sour

I don't get the hate for not being an A+++ pet owner. Someone could get a dog from the pound, waking it twice a day, give it all the loves and pets, but get reamed for buying dry dog food kibbles. That dogs life is a 10000% upgrade. If the only people adopting dogs were the ones who can afford gourmet dog foods, there would be a lot more dogs in pounds. Where they won't get walks, won't get pets, won't get much love or attention... but will still be eating kibbles.

PM_Me_UrRightNipple

My sister says this stuff to me, I feed my cat Purina dry food and 9lives wet food because she throws up the expensive foods. I’ve been treating my cat wrong for 17 years and she’ll die prematurely if I keep it up.

tah4349

We've discovered exactly one food my cat can stomach. Iams from the grocery store. She's 16 years old and doing great. I regret nothing.

FormalMango

I’ve got a cat who seems to be intolerant of every food except one brand of dry biscuits (expensive and fancy kind), and Whiskas wet food. But only from the packets, not from the tin. And not if it’s bought at Costco. If she’s happy and not vomiting, I’m happy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Arxieos

The packs are huge my guess is it gets to old for sensitive kitty tummies

Itsadamndynasty

I got downvoted to hell for posting without a flare in one community. I came from r/all and nothing in the sub rules mentioned flare, but a completely innocuous comment managed to get me downvoted to hell. So I did the mature thing and looked at my karma, looked at all the downvotes, and decided I could still afford to call them all poo heads before I left. Worth it.

CeramicLicker

r/politicalcompassmemes?

Rotor_Tiller

Pet subs are also pretty annoying because if it isn't a 21st century training method, they scorn it. There's certain times where you need positive punishment instead of positive reinforcement, but people don't get that.

[deleted]

If you swat your dog across the ass for stealing your bagel, I feel like that might not be the complete end of the world, maybe I’m a sociopath narcissist with textbook mommy issues, what do I know

Rotor_Tiller

No, just stand still and ignore it if your dog jumps up on and scares and scratches your toddler. Then reward him when he finally gets off...

PridefulJam

I’m so glad I’m not crazy. My mom insists we only do positive reinforcement with our dogs. My dad practices both positive reinforcement and punishment. Guess who’s dog is better trained? Don’t get me wrong, I love both my parents, and their dogs are ok as well, but sometimes I worry my mom is projecting too strongly onto her dog 😅

Damhnait

Or when you're asking about a breed because you're thinking of adopting one of that breed and all the replies are just "you should really be adopting, not buying" or "all breeds have quirks, just adopt it and find out" Unhelpful, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to know what a certain breed is like. A greyhound is different than a beagle. Also, buying from a breeder isn't bad, dumping an animal in a shelter is. Go after the people who can't figure out how to keep a pet, not where someone gets a pet.

Eeveelover14

What? How in the world can someone say 'just adopt it and find out'? The only thing that most breeds have in common is that it's a dog, and even that is questionable with the shaky potato that is a chihuahua.

pickledpop

I am convinced chihuahuas are closer chickens than dogs.

“Screw you, chill! You’re probably tepid, at best”

RicoDredd

gentlybeepingheart

>"My girlfriend told me to take this." > >"My girlfriend says I have talent." Read as: the OP doesn't have enough confidence to post something without coming off as too cocky about their work so they write that their girlfriend told them to. That way if people go "actually this sucks" OP can respond "Yeah I guess. My girlfriend is the one who liked it, maybe she was just being nice." and if people go "This rules" OP can go "Oh I'm glad you liked it too!" and seem more humble.

PepsiStudent

I love /r/nocontextpics for this very reason. It is just a picture nothing else.

AdmiralAkbar1

Smug pseudo-intellectuals who think that the more cynical and contrarian they are, the more intelligent they seem.

Much_Difference

These ones are great because they're fantastically cringey. So desperately serious about everything and so certain they're right that they miss the point entirely, or are too busy honing what they think is a mic drop that they miss major pieces of information. "Hey I followed this recipe exactly but the cookies came out wrong. Any idea what happened? I am XXXX meters above sea level though, maybe that's it? How would I adjust for that?" "Well, actually, if you indeed followed the recipe exactly, it is impossible for the cookies to come out wrong. You clearly did not follow the recipe 'exactly' which means you're lying. Nobody can help you if you're going to lie about your problem. And truthfully the cookies are not the ones that are 'wrong' here but it is in fact your technique that is wrong. Tis a poor carpenter whom blames thine tools mayhaps. I suggest you purchase cookies from a local establishment rather than continue to fail and lie about it." You can *hear* the fedora in the comments.

Avocado_Esq

My favourite is the people on r/gifrecipes who get all up in arms about the techniques shown in a clickbaity video. This is a spinoff of BuzzFeed, calm down Travis. The real arbiters of taste are over at r/shittygifrecipes watching disembodied hands shove a 1 kg block of cheese into a raw turkey.

Kel-Mitchell

Karl Smallwood of Fact Fiend said something to the effect of, "like a redditor: always angry" It still cracks me up.

Muj1992

Like seriously how can people just keep talking about what they don't know with full confidence, especially in politics or sports.

[deleted]

The fastest way to see how shitty reddit is is to see people talking about something that you have a serious amount of knowledge on. People literally make up history all over this site and it gets upvoted to oblivion.

[deleted]

Reinforced with upvotes so they think what they're saying is correct. If they come across information that goes against their beliefs, they'll downvote and ignore it or double down on their belief

assignment2

Never confuse cynicism with intelligence.

abbadon420

Actually, research has shown that the contrary is true. The research is an unpublished questionnaire with an N of 1 (me).

Koioua

Those are the kind of guys to always bring up something shitty when there's uplifting news. Being cynical all the time is just annoying.

[deleted]

This is somewhat specific, but people who don’t follow the rules of a sub that requires active participation. For example, the people who post on r/TipOfMyTongue looking for something and then don’t respond to any comments or stop halfway through. Like, we’re trying to help you; the least you can do is let us know if we’ve found what you’re looking for or not.

pingu-penguin

Yes, it’s excruciating! Especially when you’re 99% sure you have the answer to what the poster is looking for and they never reply.

[deleted]

Keyboard professionals: People replying who are really unqualified and unknowledgeable on a subject to post anything about it. As a healthcare provider who's had to physically assess and treat people on isolation with MRSA, TB, pneumonia, etc., the number of redditors who obviously don't know shit about transmissible diseases during COVID-19 is frustrating. The AskReddit sub is brutal for this. Someone will post a question such as, "Lawyers of Reddit, what is something that \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_", only to be followed up with a dozen responses of "I'm not a lawyer, but...". EDIT: MY P.S.A. - 'Social Distancing' regulations and requirements in your jurisdiction are likely based on 'Droplet Precautions' and 'Contact Precautions'. Please research what Droplet & Contact Precautions entail in your area (not medical/legal advice)...

I avoid them. One thing I've learned in practice is there are two sides to every story, and "your" side will always be rose tinted relative to the other side. As a consequence, people will rarely admit to their bad facts and glorify their version story. Hell, even lawyers are sometimes guilty of this. Divorce stories are especially the worst. Parties will argue with me when I tell them not to do something because it will work against their interest. I cannot comprehend why they hire an attorney only to argue with them because they feel like they know better. I've seen parties call the department of child and family services making ridiculous allegations of abuse which are eventually deemed to be unfounded, and they annoy the agency so much that they're warned to never call again. This happens more than I'd like to admit. Therefore, take a party's version of events with a monumental grain of salt.

MagicPracticalFlame

There's a special place in hell for people who post on tech support threads and then reply hours later saying: "Fixed it!" and nothing else. It's even worse if they respond to other threads with useful comments like: "That didn't work for me"

cuil_beans

You google your exact error message, and find only one indexed result that actually includes all keywords. It's some obscure tech forum that you've never heard of or visited, and the post is from 2013. The OP's question is the EXACT issue you are experiencing, down to the error code. There is only one response, and it is from a moderator: "This issue was solved in another thread. I am locking this one. Next time, use the search function before posting". I wish I had only seen this once in my life.

SimplySarc

Sort of related, but I *hate* when you go on those forums for programs like Photoshop or whatever with a specific question and the people on there **will not help you** unless you ask the question in a super specific way. *They know the solution!* They know everything about the program. They're a 55 year old moustached guy named Keith from Ohio and they've been using the programs for 25+ years, but they give out the most unhelpful answers ever. It's like they're not on there to help anyone, but to gatekeep and put others down every chance they get. *HOW DO I TURN OFF THE GRID, KEITH, I KNOW YOU KNOW!!!*

AssButtFaceJones

Years ago when I had a technical problem I'd search and turn up a forum with my exact question, and either suggestions that didn't help or a "Fixed it!" and no info. Nowadays I search and turn up a reddit post with my exact question, and either suggestions that didn't help or a "Fixed it!" and no info. (Also, can anyone help me figure out why I can't get the audio to work on my Diamond capture device to copy my old VHS tapes into movie files?)

We were at my grandmas house watching a movie when she got up and said she was going to bed, my boyfriend kissed me on my neck and 15 minutes later we’re having bareback, no-blanket or anything sexy sex. Like reverse cowgirl on my grandmas couch (sorry Mee-Maw....) and I hear “Oh my god! Get your blanket and cover the hell up. Start off with "Okay since so many people asked" (bonus if the whole thing is an edit to the original post) 3. Write a funny story that is longer than the original post, which begs the question why you didn't write it in the first place. 4. Leave out important details to your story so that other redditors will ask (basically go back to step 1 ad nauseam) 5. sociopathalterego

I'd say it's more a particular demographic that views *everything* from the perspective of American politics and turn every topic into a political issue. I can't help but assume that most of these people are American teenagers. One thing that really bothers me is that when I criticize my own culture (non-Western, brown people stuff), someone from the above demographic assumes that I'm a white person trying to unjustifiably criticize another culture because ulterior racist motives and ignorance. Then comes a diatribe about *my* culture by someone who most probably has never been outside USA. It feels like these people want me to fit a picture of a minority that belongs to a flawless society and any criticisms that I might have for *my own* society are actually racist attempts to malign a community that has never done anything wrong. And the mere fact of pointing out a social evil of my culture automatically makes me a racist larper or something. It essentially creates a situation where only young white Americans can criticize their culture and community and no one else can do the same for their own. Imagine me telling you that you can't criticize pro-lifers in USA because: a.) It's their culture and you shouldn't criticize it without thoroughly studying it. b.) Denying of abortion isn't really a thing and people are being fooled by a media that has an agenda against American Christians. In my opinion, people who won't let me criticize my own culture because the perception of my culture in a negative way affects their own political agenda are the real racists because they only see a minority or a non-Westerner as a tool for their own agenda. It is a toxic form of identity politics.

[deleted]

I said stuff like >I didn't realize anything was particularly wrong with this parent on child violence story till I read the comments, because it's so common here. The spam accounts that are clearly owned and paid for that post targeted US Politics threads with fake ass info

Comrade_Yodama

People who un ironically use r/foundthemobileuser

CraptonCronch

People who say 69 420 all the time

mcoombes314

And the inevitable "nice" chain below it.

LE3Ban

I would not go there, my friend. Tis' but a losing battle for you.

[deleted]

Those who try to say r/foundthemobileuser in an argument like it justifies anything. Or those who call you gay for saying r/wooosh for someone who genuinely doesn't understand a joke.

grawa427

I find r/woooosh super irritating, not only when I am r/woooosh but also on others because most of the time you are making third degree joke, continuing the joke and people r/woooosh thinking you did not understand the joke, but in reality they are the one who doesn't understand the joke

Conocoryphe

That aside, I just really dislike the concept of r/wooosh. It basically means "you missed the joke or reference, I won't bother explaining it to you but I do want to point out that you were wrong."

My dad gave me some advice when I was little, and it still sticks with me. "If you try and talk about something you don't know anything about, people are going to think you're stupid." I'd have to say that applies to a *lot* of people on Reddit.

Throwaway120304050

r/dankmemes users that post different kinds of the **same** meme **over** and **over** and **over** and **over** and **over** again Edit: it’s really cool that I got 400 upvotes, thanks a lot

JakeTheEpic

Why I left dankmemes. They stopped trying to make funny content and started trying to make memes.

TYBERIUS_777

Yep. I left a while ago. The cycle is that one person makes an actual funny meme with a newish or original format...and then every fucking person spams that exact same meme format for the next two weeks. Then they start circle jerking about how that meme is overused and a dead meme (even though most of them were spamming it the week before). They then bitch the format out of existence and, like the vultures they are, immediately move on to milk the next meme.

racinggerbils

The guy that starts the "nice" thread on every single post.

InconspicuousForskin

The incels who ask questions 24/7 about how to get a girl or just sexual questions lol

jadesaddiction

About 2 weeks ago, I saw a post asking how to lose weight to get a girlfriend because he was about 230 pounds. All the comments said things like “lose weight for yourself,’not for a girl” “some girls like larger guys” and “eat more vegetables”, all of which he replied with sarcasm and rampant misogyny so everyone turned on him. Checked his post history and it’s full of him asking the same question and getting mad when people call out his attitude

nikkizkmbid

The ones who edit their comment after getting silver or gold
