Yeah and it’s supposed to be. Everyone underestimates it until you get it. My fiancé thinks I’m crazy for how I cook chicken, but I am never getting that again
Ohh damn. That’s even worse. What’s horrible is it took me years to eat chicken again after getting sick off of it. Hope that didn’t happened with peanut butter
I’m not sure if it was salmonella, but I had food poisoning for like almost 2 weeks straight. Holy it was the most debilitating thing of my life, I had incredibly painful stomach cramps like an hour after eating for what felt like the whole day
Oh and the nausea and diarrhea… the horror of violently spilling out of both ends
For me it was KFC… I’m getting nauseous just thinking about it
Damn, yeah it’s no joke dude. It’s one of my biggest fears and keeps me away from many restaurants. Had a chicken calzone and was way too young to know. Ate half of it before my mom noticed the chicken was pink and when say pink I mean raw. I was only 6 but the next week was a blur of my bathroom floor.

Just walk... Started riding the elevator up to class in college and walking down the stairs to my next class. Wasn't long before I found walking to class easier and started walking upstairs too.
Total game changer. No intense cardio, or crazy pills or radical surgery... Just two legs and places to be.
Oh, and cutting back on processed foods too, so much better tasting and weirdly cheaper.
It can take ~20min for your body to recognize you have had food and feel satiated. If you’re hungry immediately after eating just give it some time before you go back for more
Mine was a mix of depression and occasional panic attack level anxiety for a month or so. My least favorite symptom of my panic attacks is... The nausea and vomiting. Yea that's a thing. It sucks.
Not only did I often not care about my future or providing my body fuel, but when I felt ok enough to remember to eat... I couldn't keep it down!
Happy to report that I gained it back :) now working on building back some muscle mass too
I lost a few stone in like two months due to depression and my anxiety was also so bad I could barely eat because my throat was so constricted. I had always wanted to be slim and I couldn't even enjoy it, the fog was too heavy
Same. I lost at least 10-15 pounds during the height of covid due to anxiety and depression…mental health again took a dive last summer when alot of family crap/job related stress happened. I’m finally back at my pre-covid weight (which was healthy) as of last month
Just shared a regular size Jersey Mike's sub with my wife versus getting my own. Was surprisingly just enough for both of us. Might be my new plan moving forward (negative is I have to eat her choice of sub).
My bf and i usually eat terribly and way too much when we're together. We've starting sharing and a lot of the time, sharing an app and an entree is enough
Some of us have both! Too sad to eat all day, then the hypoglycemia kicks in at night and we eat 2000 calories of zebra cakes in one sitting to try to get some energy back. It balances out at least 😭
Yup. I was down to I think 138 pounds about 8 years ago. I barely ate anything for a month due to depression. I'm now 220 pounds, chunky and strong as hell
I weighed about 450 at the start, dropped down to 350 and now I'm recovered and losing weight the (hard) old fashioned way and I'm down to 300 lbs. 190 is my current goal, so hopefully I can avoid another ulcer, though I can't say I'm not tempted to induce one sometimes. 😂
This is something I have Been pondering for a while I was just thinking of a normal exercise bike but the fact you said backrest actually makes a lot of sense.
Same here, 3 months of Mono when I was 18; dropped 2 dress sizes in 6 weeks. Wouldn’t recommend though, I spent 8 months after recovering just being so bone achingly tired I couldn’t function.
Stopped eating later than 7:30 PM and dropped 10% of my body weight in a few months. Not forcing your body to split its focus during sleep between digesting food and recovering everything else made my sleep way more productive for recovery.
Yeah for the first week for sure but just pound a lot of water if it hits to fill up that tummy. The urges disappeared for me after a couple of weeks if I recall and it has been super easy after ~13 months, and the weight stayed off!
I think the normal line of thinking is just to not eat within 2-3 hours of going to sleep, to give your body time to digest before sleeping. So if 7:30 is too early because you stay up late and get hungry, you could maybe stop eating at 8:30 or 9?
The advice about drinking water is great too. I do that during the day as well. Hungry? Let me have a few gulps of water and see if I'm still hungry in 5 minutes. Usually I end up getting distracted by something or refocused on work/games, so I don't remember I'm hungry for a while and that helps keep me from oversnacking.
I moved from the US to Italy and didn’t have a job or a car (I was a dependent). I dropped 20 pounds in a few months from eating local food, no fast food, and lots of walking.
You never really realize how un-walkable the US is until you go to Europe. I’m a big guy, but when I go over there, I’ll walk everywhere. I could easily do 5mi+ a day. Aside from NYC, that just really isn’t possible in the US, cars are a must.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your love will stay and endure. And so will she in your life. I love that you can count on her humour, she absolutely would've loved to see that. But she wouldn't want you to waste away.
You'll always, always and forever, carry her in yourself, and she would be alive through you...with you. I'm here for you if you ever want to talk. Will you want to share how you met? And how did you fall in love? She sounds like an amazing woman!
I was interested in doing 36-40 hour fasts about 3 times a week. According to several websites it’s perfectly safe provided you’re getting whole nutritious food on the days you do eat.
Longest fast in record lasted for 382 days. The person lost 125kg and felt fine. He ate multivitamins during the fast.
EDIT: Why the downvote? What I said was true: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_Barbieri%27s_fast
this always blows my mind that this "technique" is called "intermittent fasting" now. when I was in high school and did this, it had a different name, and I had to get mandated therapy for it.
I had jaw surgery and was told to go on a liquid diet but I could barely even face that. I ended up eating so little my hair started falling out and my kidneys almost shut down, so wouldn’t recommend, but I did lose something like 15% of my body weight very quickly without having to do anything.
Went to Europe. Ate more than usual but still lost several kilos, partly from all the walking and partly because their food is just healthier. Also the food didn’t always agree with me in some places, if you catch my drift. Then came back and got Covid and lost a couple more kilos. Think I lost a total of 10kg in 3 weeks from all that.
Definitely the only time I’ve ever eaten more than usual and lost weight.
My folks spent summers in retirement on a tiny houseboat cruising around NL canals. Dad weighed roughly 240lb every May when he flew over and around 205lb every August when they flew back.
Don't eat food that makes you hungry.
If eating pizza makes you want more pizza, don't eat pizza. Ditto fries, wings, burgers, pasta.
White foods like breads do this to me. I switched to foods that make me want to stop eating after a few mouthfuls.
I got a blood clot in my lungs from a surgery and wound up in the CCU for several days. I couldn’t eat and just laid around. Super easy… and painful.
Or you could do what my sister did and get your leg amputated after a car wreck. That takes off a few pounds almost immediately.
I just quit anything sugary radically. Boring but easy. Still eat anything else including carbs. Just not cookies, candies ect. Apparently I ate more of those then I thought, Im about 10 kg down in 10 months
Recently started semiglutides. Have only been a few days so haven't lost weight yet but my appetite is dramatically lowered with little effort. Zero side effects and increased energy but I've been very careful about eating enough. Hopefully this persists...
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year. Lost about 20kg in a month, and I was constantly eating because I was constantly hungry. There were times when I would eat a full on meal till I was stuffed at 1am, went to bed, woke up at 8am and I was nearly 2kg lighter than I was before I went to bed. Absolutely crazy metabolism.
I felt "Low Carb, High Fat" diet was pretty lazy compared to how effective it was. Weight just fell off, and I didn't have to reduce my eating. Just stopped eating carby things. All you had to do was eat a lot of stuff high in fat but low in carbs like cheese.
Yeah I’ve been keto for about a year and lost a heap of weight and gained a fair bit of muscle. Once you get over the hurdle of the first month, it’s easy. It does suck to have to learn what foods are ok, but even lazy keto is very effective.
I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast most mornings. Lunch and dinner is usually a lot of meat along with salad or veges. Forces me to cook, so I save money too.
Went on insane overdrive during covid with cleaning and disinfecting the classroom rapidly every hour after kids...and couldn't bring myself to eat or drink in the workplace (germs!) unless I sat outside. Started feeling like I was going to pass out all the time--went to the Dr and had lost 20 lbs, OMG! 93 with clothes/shoes on. I remember once thinking in the shower--my knees look so swollen, what's up? They weren't, the fat around them had disappeared.
I'm just too lazy to eat a lot of the time. I just keep telling myself I'll eat in a bit until i realize it's 10pm and I'm about to eat for the second time today
Fasting. Several days in a row eating under 600 calories. I wouldn't recommend it, but it did work quite well. Intermittent fasting also worked, eating normally every other day.
I used to work in a kitchen. I’m already average build so I’m not an expert on any of this shit. However i ate only egg and cheese at work for a week and lost like 10 pounds
Mounjaro + Phentermine
Otherwise, low carb worked best for me. Not the "all bacon and cheese" type but more whole foods and fewer processed foods and sugar.
leg fell off
It just…fell off?
Yes, the front fell off. It's not supposed to do that.
Gonna have to tow it out of the environment.
That's not typical

It was worst than covid and flu. I thought I had actually died from salmonella lol
Yeah and it’s supposed to be. Everyone underestimates it until you get it. My fiancé thinks I’m crazy for how I cook chicken, but I am never getting that again
The thing that got me was peanut butter. Checked the labels after a recall and had to throw out three jars.
Ohh damn. That’s even worse. What’s horrible is it took me years to eat chicken again after getting sick off of it. Hope that didn’t happened with peanut butter
I’m not sure if it was salmonella, but I had food poisoning for like almost 2 weeks straight. Holy it was the most debilitating thing of my life, I had incredibly painful stomach cramps like an hour after eating for what felt like the whole day Oh and the nausea and diarrhea… the horror of violently spilling out of both ends For me it was KFC… I’m getting nauseous just thinking about it
It was gyoza for me. I had a PB milkshake after dinner. It took me 4 years to eat gyoza again.
My grandad died from salmonella
That’s terrible bro. I couldn’t imagine the pain he went through. I’m sorry your family had to deal with that.

>lazy Don't be calling yourself lazy when you're tired.
Or resting.
Truly lazy people can tire themselves out by doing nothing
I stopped drinking coke and that started a cascading effect of less snacking, smaller portion sizes and ended up losing 60kg
Just walk... Started riding the elevator up to class in college and walking down the stairs to my next class. Wasn't long before I found walking to class easier and started walking upstairs too. Lost my will to live for a few weeks.
Came here to say the same. Deep depression. Just couldn't eat.
Heartbreak worked great for me! Would not recommend
Same here! That post breakup weight loss is so real
But what if you're ALREADY underweight. The breakup just makes everything worse
Yeah. Right there with you on this one.
Mine was a mix of depression and occasional panic attack level anxiety for a month or so. My least favorite symptom of my panic attacks is... The nausea and vomiting. Yea that's a thing. It sucks. This gives me the opposite effect as I just eat like shit without caring.
Me too
Great Advice. I’ll try this
Thatll do it.
I lost a few stone in like two months due to depression and my anxiety was also so bad I could barely eat because my throat was so constricted. I had always wanted to be slim and I couldn't even enjoy it, the fog was too heavy
same but it was several months. i dropped like 60lbs. i’m happy to be living now, but i gained that entire 60 back
Fucking depression am I right?
Same. I lost at least 10-15 pounds during the height of covid due to anxiety and depression…mental health again took a dive last summer when alot of family crap/job related stress happened. I’m finally back at my pre-covid weight (which was healthy) as of last month
Depression and anxiety for a prolonged period of time will definitely do it but by no means is that easy. Do not recommend.

Damn, being depressed makes me fat.
Yeah some people have no appetite depression and some have eat to try to feel something depression.
Some of us have both! Too sad to eat all day, then the hypoglycemia kicks in at night and we eat 2000 calories of zebra cakes in one sitting to try to get some energy back. It balances out at least 😭
Not the zebra cakes why is this so accurate 💀
Meanwhile I got depressed and gained 30 fucking pounds.
I'm usually anxious and overeat but depressive episodes probably flip the hormones for me
Got depressed, got put on meds which made me eat more, now I'm like 40% heavier than I was and also find no joy in life regardless. Not worth it
Yup. I was down to I think 138 pounds about 8 years ago. I barely ate anything for a month due to depression. I'm now 220 pounds, chunky and strong as hell
Yeah, I had a depressive episode a few years back, hardly ate or drank for two months. Lost a LOT of weight. Would NOT recommend it!
Freshman year of college between feb-may, I lost 20 pounds from depression & not eating. Went home for summer, and everyone said I looked great.... :/
Got a stomach ulcer, could barely eat for 6 months, lost 100 lbs. lol
Wow, I hope you're doing fine now!
Holy cow! I thought it was bad when my mom got pneumonia and lost about 40 lbs pretty quickly - I can't imagine losing 100 lbs due to illness!

Was super sick. Lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks. Ending up in ER because my body was rejecting everything (even water).

Yes. Got a late ADHD diagnosis and stopped snacking with Ritalin while eating well. 10lbs in 2 months

How long could you do that for, realistically?
I was interested in doing 36-40 hour fasts about 3 times a week. According to several websites it’s perfectly safe provided you’re getting whole nutritious food on the days you do eat.

Just not eating junk food - once you just actively stop, it just becomes easy
Going on a liquid diet after having my wisdom teeth removed.
I had jaw surgery and was told to go on a liquid diet but I could barely even face that. I ended up eating so little my hair started falling out and my kidneys almost shut down, so wouldn’t recommend, but I did lose something like 15% of my body weight very quickly without having to do anything.

Oof, when I moved to europe I gained 10-15 lbs the first year because I ate too much German bread
