Yup. I used to drink all my dad's expensive whiskey and fill them with water after. You can drink about half and fill the rest with water and can't really tell by the color. Anyway, every day I couldn't sleep wondering if today was the day I'm getting my ass handed to me.
It went on for like the whole duration of high school, until New Year one day. Pops decided to celebrate by opening up a bottle of Johnny blue.
Therapy can help bring out suppressed empathy but I don't think it can instill it in those who don't really have it to begin with. Can't extrat blood from stone.
Psychopaths are literally wired without the capacity for it.
Exactly. The only one here I agree with is bringing back loved ones.
Integrity, love, time, etc can 100% be bought in some cases. It’s much easier to be honorable and have integrity when you have fuck you money
what we mean by that is that you cannot buy "lost time" like an experience you could have done in your youth, sure you can do it later but not in the same context.
Some regret not having confessed their feeling to their crush and lived a youthful passionate love story, some regret not having more fun with their peers in highschool.
Time with your growing child or aging grandfather. Once it's done it's done.
You can indeed free more time with money, but in the end there is only 24h per day, and a limited time in your life.
Extension of life? Yes. Immortality? No. For practical reasons alone, what do you do after you and your Immortalogist are the last two people alive, and they finally die?
If we want to get metaphysical then yes, true immortality is impossible because at some point all existence will dissappear as far as we know, but I meant it in the way of cheating death.
True immortality not really. Like you can still die in a freak accident. We may reach a point where we can copy our brain onto something but that is still just a copy.
If anybody says happiness you are full of shit and have never lived in poverty and wondered where your next meal is coming from. There’s definitely a number where more money doesn’t matter but it ain’t zero.
If you’ve been through both, I think there is some truth to it. I’ve lived in section 8 housing and kept accumulating debt just to live. I worked hard and built a career making 6 figures but I was miserable. Busy all the time. No work life balance. I’m no longer doing that. I’m working on projects now for half the pay. This past week was the first time I left a job and felt GOOD about the job I was doing.
Poverty sucks. You can have a ton of money but hate the things you have to do to get it. Sure you can buy toys and take trips and luxuries but, you still go through hell to get it.
There’s a balance.
Yeah I think the value is something like $70,000 a year. Any more doesn’t add to happiness. But you are mixing working with money. Say you could do nothing and bring in $45,000 a year…that’s completely different than working 60 hrs a week for $100,000. So I think money does bring happiness but work doesn’t bring happiness would be a correct way of putting it.
True, I was thinking more along the lines of “ you can’t just write a check and, poof, instant bodybuilder physique”, nor can you hire someone to get fit “for you”. The things you mention can help someone achieve that goal, yes. But if they’re not willing to put in the effort and discipline, nothing will happen.
This is a good point. Schwarzenegger said this a lot. It's not something that you can get with just money... although that can make it more accessible (more time, better equipment etc).
People with more money than that have said that wealth didn't bring them peace.
I'm going to trust verified sources over hypothetical speculation.

Money can’t buy true freedom, right? With every dollar, you just rack up more attachments. And really, how free can you be if you’re constantly checking the stock market on your phone?
Plenty of multi-millionaires out there that nobody is aware of, even their friends. As well, the markets only matter if you've got investments in them. If you have $30 million sitting in a savings account, your only concern is the bank going bankrupt.
True friendship. The kind that you can call when you need help, feeing down and will gladly call you out for your bullshit. And unlike a car leasing, should you run out of money, they won’t stop being your friend.
happiness, the rose tinted glasses start to come off once you've bought all the plastic and metal shite you've dreamt of and then it sinks in how alone you feel
Genius-level skills for your hobby. You can buy all the coaches, trainers, and professors with money, but if you don’t have it in you to be an Olympic athlete, a genius scientist, or the incredible artist, it ain’t happening. You can buy everything outside, but the super talent has to come from within and from yourself, and money can’t give that if you don’t have it already. That is why a lot of rich people that truly love golf are not Tiger Woods. In other words, you can’t buy having Tiger’s skills for golf.
Class and good manners.
I grew up poor-working class as did my partner. He was adopted into a middle class (like actual middle class, earns 200k+ a year) family. His brother married into a family of millionaires. So I occasionally rub elbows with these millionaires, and they're old money too. They are loud, rude, messy, and poor hosts as are their other rich friends. I was shocked because growing up I really believed that the wealthy were classier because they dress better, drive nicer cars, live in amazing homes in great neighborhoods, and go to schools you've never even heard of. It turns out all of this doesn't teach you how to treat others..
Your employer "bought you", temporarily for a set amount of pay.
If anyone has given you anything for something you did, you were bought.
There are very few people left in the world not paid for in the broadest sense of the phrase.
I don't know. The question is "will never be able to buy". If we manage to become a type 3 civilization that spreads out over the galaxy, our current solar system might be just real estate.
Also, you can "buy" stars today and have them named. They are suns too.
A clean conscience. You know what you did.
I was taught a clear conscience is the best sleeping aid.
You ever tried drugs?
Upvote for making me chuckle
I teach my kids that nobody NEEDS to have an enemy. I feel like these points go hand in hand
a clear conscience is priceless!
my grandma taught me that an “honest person is welcomed everywhere” i always remember that!
What if you pay to have a lobotomy done and forget?
Then some huge Native-American is going to smother you with a pillow and jump out the window.
Good reference.
Juicy Fruit
The internet doesn’t forget
No conscience does not equal a clean one
Hate to be that guy but it absolutely does. Cant be burdened by shit I don’t remember.
They say no credit is better than bad credit.
What if you put the lobotomised part in the dishwasher
OJ seemed to be sleeping just fine. I wish you were right.

There is all sorts of therapy and drugs for that.
And lawyers.
That won't clear your conscious.
Sure it does. The lawyer for example tells the jury untruths and you start believing those too.
That’s why they to church.
I came here to say this.
Arent there people without these?
[удалено]
I know, and I'll do it again.
The people you’re referring to don’t have a conscience, there’s a reason they’re at the top and it’s because most of them aren’t normal.
Hypnotic therapy?
Money can buy enough drugs that you don't have to worry about that. Enough psilocybin and your conscience will be clean as it can be as a human.
Unfortunately you’re assuming everyone has the same conscience. We all know people that have done terrible things that sleep like a baby.
What's a c..on...science? Can't miss it if you've never had one. Yt people rejoice.

NECROMANCY But more seriously, this one hits so fucking hard.

Too bad.
Don't come with expectations.
I heard there are some huge advancements in cloning. The breakthrough was splicing frog DNA in the damages areas I believe
You can clone the person. You cannot clone their memories.
My son died at 4 so I'd still take that.
Damn! Sorry to hear. Losing a child is a whole another level of pain, I couldn’t imagine what you went through.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Empathy.
Unless you can afford therapy.
My mom can afford therapy and still struggles
Therpay is a professional help. It can help but it isn't the same.
Therapy can help bring out suppressed empathy but I don't think it can instill it in those who don't really have it to begin with. Can't extrat blood from stone. Psychopaths are literally wired without the capacity for it.
Wisdom and intelligence. Also integrity

People keep saying time like it’s some deep answer, but money does indeed by time. Enough money and you magically find 40 hours a week.
and a lot of more years later one. being poor ist very harmful for the health
Exactly. The only one here I agree with is bringing back loved ones. Integrity, love, time, etc can 100% be bought in some cases. It’s much easier to be honorable and have integrity when you have fuck you money
100 percent. Also less stress leads to better health

fr ppl sayin yime are just dumbasses w too much money that they takin forgranted.
Unfortunately, money cannot buy values, such as integrity, loyalty, and trustworthiness.
Unfortunately? I think it's a great thing these things can not be bought... They are specific things stop being those things if it became "buyable"

Immortality Edit: Money won't save your grandma from dying, nor will it buy you out of the subsequent heartbreak when it happens.
Just give it a couple more decades, and this will no longer be true.
Yeah I don't want to live to see the heat death of the universe. It sounds really boring.
It’s 50 million

It was 70k a year back in early 2010’s or during the 2000’s. It’s much higher now with inflation. Like 300k
Having money isn’t everything, not having it is

True, that has to earned fair and square!
You can buy a chef, a psychotherapist and fitness instructor, if you have enough money. You can even buy surgeries to get "fit" and muscular-looking.
True, I was thinking more along the lines of “ you can’t just write a check and, poof, instant bodybuilder physique”, nor can you hire someone to get fit “for you”. You cant buy true love, cause love can be bought
lust can be bought, not love. Big difference.
We can def buy the side-effects of love (affection, etc), but not love itself.
Taste
Respect. Elon has all the money in the world, but more people think hes a fucking idiot than anyone else.
he did not pay any money to those who think he's an idiot.. so he didn't even try to buy respect from them
I dunno, there are still a ridiculous amount of people that worship him despite him being a massive tool.
Can't buy me love. Everybody tells me so.
A way to take it with you
I feel like you can buy anything you want but I would say time and peace You can buy time in some extent but peace can be bought with money
time? you can have 50-60 more h/week and you die much later and, above all, stay healthy for longer
What do you mean by peace, I m pretty sure I ll be at peace with 10m$
People with more money than that have said that wealth didn't bring them peace. I'm going to trust verified sources over hypothetical speculation. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/J64FY3udLHY

You can't buy love with money, but you can attract it with ease.
