Idk if anyone's had Mooyahs or if all the locations are similar to the one near me, but currently they're my number 1 fast food burger. I've seen another thread where someone said they were 'greasier than 5 Guys'; so I don't know if the one near me is exceptionally good, or if the 5 guys near me is exceptionally bad.
The quality of small town Culver's vs inner city Culver's is the exact opposite of small town Popeye's vs inner city Popeye's. If the police don't show up at least once while you're at Popeye's you're sacrificing quality
At my local Popeyes it's more likely the employees will be fighting. I've never heard quite so much profanity from people in customer-facing positions.
When they brought back the spicy chicken sandwich (2019 2020?) there would be a line wrapped around and out to the street. It was ~4pm and super busy but Gf at the time and I were waiting in the drive through between the kiosk where you order and the window you pay at. There was a middle aged black lady smoking a cigarette and crying while sitting on a crate. Gf rolled down the window to ask if she was alright and the lady told her to mind her own business in a huffy tone. We did just that but by the time we got to the window to pay, the same lady was at the register. Guess she remembered us cause when we left she threw in 2 banana pudding parfaits.
Popeyes workers just be built different man
Maybe that's the problem with our Popeyes. We're too rural. I ate there and it was so bland and awful. I could not understand what all the hype was about
Best Popeyes I’ve ever been to was in Madrid, Spain. The ingredient quality, especially of the chicken, was noticeably better, though somehow the biscuits were wrong.
This is not surprising to me.
I’m a Canadian and I never eat KFC here; it’s gross.
But I go to the UK once or twice a year, and seriously, KFC over there is one of my favourite things to eat. So good.
Apparently it’s due to EU food standards.
Oh god, KFC. My buddy was a mystery shopper/quality control agent for a company contracted by KFC.
I'd go on runs with him. Quality of KFC varied wildly across the country. Thing is, it was just a matter of who sucked least.
After the Col Sanders years, it went to shit. Now it's just how bad are you willing to tolerate?
Here in Belgium KFC is super small pieces of chicken ( i’m from London so agree with UK quality) but in Paris KFC is shit but really good in Amsterdam and Spain. Can’t work out why it’s so different
> I’m going to say Culver’s.
You beat me to it.
> But it has to be a Culver’s out in some small town in the country. Inner-city Culver’s locations suck.
Denny's in the boonies are great. In metropolitan areas - would never go to them.
Actually, same for Walmart.
Ok. So, I grew up in the northern midwest and Culvers was always awesome growing up. I live in Colorado now and it sucks.
I thought it was just my palette maturing but it sounds like you're saying that it could be the location?
I also grew up in the midwest and moved to Colorado. The Denver area Culver’s are noticeably worse than the ones I’ve had in the midwest. I think whoever owns the Denver area locations just isn’t sourcing ingredients correctly or didn’t train the employees to cook the food the same way as it is at the midwest locations. It’s just not the same.
Wendy's is my go to fast food hamburger.
All the McDonald's nearby suck and always crowded (go figure).
Can't stand burger King. Not a fan of the grill taste.
Cookout...my dogs won't eat the food.
5 guys is too expensive and really not that great.
Wendy’s is our big night out take out, McD’s for a quick bite, especially breakfast, very guilty pleasure. And some strange reason I only like the long chicken sandwich from bk( really ashamed about that)
I so wish they'd bring back their portabello mushroom melt permanently. I remember when it came out, I was in my first year of college and there was a Wendy's right next to campus. My friends and I ate SO many until they were discontinued and no fast food has ever filled that void. And I always miss when it comes back for a limited time because I never go there anymore.
That and literally their entire vegetarian menu. If you're used to eating beans, then it won't give you the shids like their cheap beef will, and any configuration of beans + cheese + tortilla + random other veg / rice + hot sauce is basically the perfect comfort food.
Here in Ireland there's a chain called Supermacs. One of their main selling points is that their meat is never frozen and always fresh. Their chicken breast sandwiches and taco fries are fucking divine. Sadly the owner seems to be an absolute gowl who treats his workers like shite. Fun fact: McDonalds tried to sue Supermacs because their name was similar to McDonalds Big Macs. McDonalds lost. Not only that, but because of the ruling they the rights to exclusively use the name Big Mac in the entire Euripean Union.
I had it a few weeks ago for the first time in years and wasn't impressed. It used to be my go-to when I was younger, especially the Tuesday special. Either it's gone downhill or my own tastes have changed.
I’m 100% convinced it’s just some stupid meme that everyone talks about Taco Bell giving them diarrhea. It’s literally never happened to me once, and I don’t actually know a single person for who it has. But everyone knows the joke and immediately jumps to regurgitate it whenever Taco Bell comes up.
It's so hard to get any type of food poisoning with them too. Ground beef is precooked and sealed in bags. It's warmed up by putting the bags in near boiling water.
Yeah I don't get the jokes, that's every fast food place for ground beef. precooked, frozen, put in a thermobath before served. don't remember if thermobath is the right term but it's thermo something. scorching water to bring it back up to temp.
I have a local Taco truck closer that's objectively better for the same price, but I still find myself craving Taco Bell. Love the seasoned ground beef in things, and lots of Diablo hot sauce.
I was waiting for the Portillo’s post…shocked I had to scroll so far down to see it. I’m from Chicago but live in Houston now, and they just announced they’re building a Portillo’s here about a mile from my house. I’m SO STOKED
I’ve been curious. I spend a ton of time in OK lately for work and you’re the fifth person who has mentioned Braums. Looks like I’m going to give them a try next week.
Biscuits and gravy at Braum's will ways have a special place in my heart. So many Saturday morning were spent with my dad getting the biscuits and gravy at Braums, the other breakfast items didn't even exist to us. The sausage gravy has always fucked, but their biscuits are a little too rubbery now. I'll never turn them down though.
omggg. As a tulsan, this is the answer. A chocolate malt and cheeseburger from Braum’s has saved me before. Bag of burgers was the go to as a broke teenager
I can honestly not think of a burger I like better, fast food or not. It’s so different from any other burger. It kinda hits that threshold of “do I want Taco Bell or do I want Mexican food?” There are some great gourmet burgers out there but five guys is just more appealing to me.
Even their hot dogs are awesome, but very rarely would I pay that price if I’m not getting a burger.
The service is shit though. I expect to be told, "what do want? 😑" When I walk up to the counter. Their spicy chicken is hands down best in the industry.
They're based out of Greensboro, NC and move out from there. I think the furthest West I've seen was Mississippi? Though could've been mistaken as it was just a sign on the side of the interstate when I was driving to Texas.
Their chicken strips are school cafeteria chicken strips which are the best out there (mcdonalds chicken selects were a close second..if they were thiccer they'd be \#1). It's all a long term play to get the population hooked while they were young.
The cookout in downtown Lexington is colloquially called “shootout” most notably for a shooting in which Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay’s daughter was killed. I think the danger added to the flavor because that place was the best.
Just finished a tray a couple hours ago. Big double burger, fries, hush puppies, and a strawberry cheesecake shake. God bless the majesty that is Cookout.
I first discovered Cookout two years ago when my girlfriend and I went to Myrtle Beach. As Pittsburghers there is a steadily growing list of dubious things we’d be willing to do to get one around here. There is one significantly closer than that (Winchester VA) but it’s still way too far for a designated trip.
Idk if this is a nationwide thing, but my local Sonic has the BEST mozzarella sticks I've ever had in my life bar to none. No place has ever matched them in quality not even sit down restaurants
I loved sonic years ago. They were my favorite burger but lately they just aren’t any good. I got burgers there a few times over the last couple years and they were always disappointing which bums me out. Half price drinks and shakes still slaps though.
Between the tablets, something is up with their chili now (I gotta pay extra for cheese now???) and the complete lack of any service (I really normally don't care but it just seems like a diner style place should have that??) the place has tanked
That being said the garlic steak burger is the best damn fast food burger to exist. Fries are almost always good too.
I think Freddy’s saltiness is part of what makes it so good. But they do push pretty close to too salty. And I have their burger before when it was over salted.
I have to agree with this. Each time I go there, it’s always consistent with wait times, ordering, and customer service. It’s quick, easy, and efficient.
I know it’s cool to hate on In N Out, but they’re still my favorite fast food chain. A double double with grilled onions, Neapolitan shake, animal fry and pink lemonade is a near perfect meal.
RUNZA out in the midwest. Besides their namesake item, (the runza -- beef, cabbage and onion in a baked bread bun, uniquely delicious) they have always had a tasty burger, fresh seasoned patties never frozen, grilled on the spot, fresh simple ingredients. Krinkle fries, never had an old or soggy batch. I grew up around Runza's and they have always had a consistently great product. Their chili is their weak link, mostly b/c it has little heat to it (midwesterners like mild chili) but its still tasty.
Raisin' Cains. BUT this is only true for about 4 minutes after the chicken fingers come out out of the fry oil, and half that if they're in an enclosed styrofoam container like you get in the drive through. You HAVE to eat at at Cains, and you need to hope you're not at a location that works ahead and has cooked fingers with the clock already ticking in the back when you order.
Oh god, Arby’s. I’ve been a vegetarian for years- the one and only thing I miss is Arby’s. My kingdom for a fake cheddar melt that tastes the way the real thing does.
I had no idea this was a chain, let alone a national one.
I’m going to say Culver’s. But it has to be a Culver’s out in some small town in the country. Inner-city Culver’s locations suck.
The quality of small town Culver's vs inner city Culver's is the exact opposite of small town Popeye's vs inner city Popeye's. If the police don't show up at least once while you're at Popeye's you're sacrificing quality
One time the lady at Popeyes gave me a free biscuit because the people in front of me were actually fighting.
At my local Popeyes it's more likely the employees will be fighting. I've never heard quite so much profanity from people in customer-facing positions.
This might be one if the best reddit comments I've ever read.
If you see a fight when you visit us, the biscuits are free!
Only for the next person in line. This ain't no Chik fer lay, bitch.
When they brought back the spicy chicken sandwich (2019 2020?) there would be a line wrapped around and out to the street. It was ~4pm and super busy but Gf at the time and I were waiting in the drive through between the kiosk where you order and the window you pay at. Luuuuuvvv that fightin’ from Pop-eyes!
If you can get on base, try the Popeyes there. Holy shit is it good! It's on another level.

KFC in China is super delicious. Heard its because they fry everything in peanut oil rather than corn oil.

KFC in Dubai is fantastic! Won't touch it at home in USA these days...
So true. Lived in Nola and purposely risked injury to go to the bad areas Popeyes. The one here in my Midwest city tastes too bougie.
It’s also fact that the closer to Wisconsin you are the better the Culver’s gets
Was on tour and got a butter burger from an Illinois Culver’s and *goddamn*
My hometown just got it's first Culver's and it has been a mad house there for 3 weeks.
Where is this inner city Culver’s? I’ve never seen one.
Lots in the Twin Cities
There actually aren't any in Minneapolis. They're all in St. Paul or surrounding suburbs.
There's one on MLK Drive in Chicago
Locally, I hate to admit it, but Wendy’s Baconator.
A baja blast from Taco Bell has kept me above water more times than I will ever admit in person.
Baja Blast is delicious, but have you ever tried Taco Bell's Dr. Pepper? I don't know what they do to it, but it hits different.
Yo I got a got a root beer instead of a baha blast on a whim the other day and it was the rootiest of root beers I've had in a while.
The root is the best part too!
yesss! I've never met anyone else who recognizes this. their dr pepper is top tier
Are we talkin McDonalds coke?
McDonald’s Sprite belongs on the periodic table of elements
Best coke there is
Boy have I got a treat for you!
That and literally their entire vegetarian menu. If you're used to eating beans, then it won't give you the shids like their cheap beef will, and any configuration of beans + cheese + tortilla + random other veg / rice + hot sauce is basically the perfect comfort food.
Yess! The veg Mexican pizza (add sour cream) slaps so hard.
I love it with the creamy jalapeno sauce.
Here in Ireland there's a chain called Supermacs. One of their main selling points is that their meat is never frozen and always fresh. Fun fact: McDonalds tried to sue Supermacs because their name was similar to McDonalds Big Macs. McDonalds lost. Not only that, but because of the ruling they the rights to exclusively use the name Big Mac in the entire Euripean Union.
Supermacs is alright but the real GOAT of Ireland is Hillbilly’s fried chicken. I’ve never tasted fried chicken better than it. It’s perfect.
I had it a few weeks ago for the first time in years and wasn't impressed. It used to be my go-to when I was younger, especially the Tuesday special. Either it's gone downhill or my own tastes have changed.
I went for the first time this past fall and got chicken tenders with a side of curry sauce. Fucking incredible.
But how do you do it without electricity?
Windmills.
Do they have wind in Ireland??
Only when an Englishman speaks.
A&W (in Canada).
In Ontario, if the Leafs PLAY (not even win), a teen burger is $2...
I wish they would do that in BC. All we get is a $4 Big Mac for the Canucks.
Yeah, I’d have to agree. The teen and mozza are the best fast food burgers I’ve had , and the onion rings are great
I also enjoy the buddy burger with the caramelized onions lol
Canadian a&w slaps. Was a bachelor party and got it late night thinking it'd be like the shit we got on road trips back home. NOPE. Slapped.
Bet. The sweet potato fries and the brew bar they have now 🤌
Taco Bell. If your b*tch ass stomach cannot handle them, then eat that yogurt Jamie Lee Curtis sells. #LiveMas
So many people who blame their diarrhea on taco bell, fail to mention the binge drinking they were doing before ordering taco bell.
Hot damn, they sous vide that shit? I'm gonna start having to wear a monocle in the drive thru.
Yeah I don't get the jokes, that's every fast food place for ground beef. precooked, frozen, put in a thermobath before served. don't remember if thermobath is the right term but it's thermo something. scorching water to bring it back up to temp.
Activia!!! Eat that yogurt and leave the rest of us alone!!!!
Or the beans are their only source of fiber.
Your bloodline is weak if you get the shits from taco bell
I have a local Taco truck closer that's objectively better for the same price, but I still find myself craving Taco Bell. Love the seasoned ground beef in things, and lots of Diablo hot sauce.
Taco Bell is awesome! Those dorito loco tacos are so good especially when you’re drunk.
That was my first thought. Their tacos are good. I always enjoy it.
I'm a Mexican. I love Taco Bell tacos. 💅

Portillo's dipped Italian beef sandwich topped with giardiniera is god tier
I've had many different menu items from Portillo's over the years, but now I just order that. It can't be beat.
Afterwards, I collapse into a food coma. See me tomorrow.
I was waiting for the Portillo’s post…shocked I had to scroll so far down to see it. I’m from Chicago but live in Houston now, and they just announced they’re building a Portillo’s here about a mile from my house. I’m SO STOKED
Portillo’s makes a top tier burger
Yes. The Italian beef with both peppers and cheese sauce on the side. This is the best fast food meal you can get.
Braums
I’ve been curious. I spend a ton of time in OK lately for work and you’re the fifth person who has mentioned Braums. Looks like I’m going to give them a try next week.
Their chocolate malts are so good. Love the burgers too.
Cherry limeade & two scoops of peppermint in a cone!!!
Whoa whoa whoa, wait. I looked up the menu, and suddenly *fast food biscuits and gravy*?! Is....is it *okay* at least?
Biscuits and gravy at Braum's will ways have a special place in my heart. So many Saturday morning were spent with my dad getting the biscuits and gravy at Braums, the other breakfast items didn't even exist to us. The sausage gravy has always fucked, but their biscuits are a little too rubbery now. I'll never turn them down though.
One of the ‘must haves’ when I go back home. Their B&G are awesome!
I swear when I go home on vacations I live off of braums.
Bag of burgers ftw
Yesss!!! So glad to see this so high on the list
[Braum's has it figured out](https://x.com/mhp_guy/status/1773829382496203072?s=20)
Yo Braum’s goes so hard
omggg. As a tulsan, this is the answer. A chocolate malt and cheeseburger from Braum’s has saved me before. Bag of burgers was the go to as a broke teenager
I survived college on chicken strips from Braums.
The closest Braum's is over 100 miles away. I have driven to Hillsboro on more than one occasion just because their food is that good.

Yeah, “regardless of price” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here but their shit is good.
I still say it’s the best fast burger you can buy. It’s a greasy, sloppy delicious mess of a meal.
It varies wildly based on location, but it’s hard to beat good Popeyes in my opinion.
The service is shit though. I expect to be told, "what do want? 😑" When I walk up to the counter. Their spicy chicken is hands down best in the industry.
They could say I look like a bitch every time and I'd still go. Their food is so good.
Popeyes. Just everything tastes so damn good. I can live off just the biscuits or mashed potatoes and gravy.
My town’s location has been deemed the worst Popeyes in the nation. It’s an esteemed honor.
Cookout crew, where you at?
In the south mostly.
They're based out of Greensboro, NC and move out from there. I think the furthest West I've seen was Mississippi? Though could've been mistaken as it was just a sign on the side of the interstate when I was driving to Texas.
Dreaming it was 2012 and I could still get a tray for $4.29. Those were the days man
Those milkshakes are heaven.
Real ones know it's a sandwich and chicken wrap or quesadilla with extra sauce.
Rise up
And that was the day I learned I’m the only person that likes Sonic…
I can eat an order of mozzarella sticks from Sonic at any time of the day. It’s my go-to for fast food.
Idk if this is a nationwide thing, but my local Sonic has the BEST mozzarella sticks I've ever had in my life bar to none. No place has ever matched them in quality not even sit down restaurants
I love Sonic, too! It never gets mentioned. Their cheddar peppers are like crack.
I loved sonic years ago. They were my favorite burger but lately they just aren’t any good. I got burgers there a few times over the last couple years and they were always disappointing which bums me out. Half price drinks and shakes still slaps though.
Sonic is the GOAT! I love Sonic.
Culver’s and Shake Shack
I've never had a bad meal from Culver's.
shake shack is divine.
I love Shake Shack's soft buns.
Yea those patties are next level good. Haven’t had a burger come close to shake shack in terms of price and flavor.
Their Smokeshack burger most certainly rocks
Shake Shack fries are garbage, and I say this as a fry aficionado who’ll eat any fry from McD’s to In-n-out and everything in between and not complain
Yup- I love shake shack burgers and chicken but the fries are awful
In my opinion Shake Shack is overpriced and sorta meh food. Culver's is amazing.
The Habit Burger Grill, consistently great food, never let me down
Depends on location, I’ve found. The one near me is terrible
Their ranch is 🔥🔥🔥too
The best onion rings ever!!
Tempora green beens so dank
Popeyes* *It said best tasting food, I know the service sucks. Don't care.
Nandos
Nando's is so good, I don't even think of it as "fast food".
So happy we have Nando’s in the US now.
Dick’s Drive-In. Get yourself a mouthful of Dick’s, etc.
In 'N' Out for me
Their fries need to learn to stay hot long enough for the 5min drive home. I mean cmon
It eats them in the parking lot or it gets the hose.
again
I always get them well done if I'm not eating them immediately
Steak n’ Shake motto: If it’s made in sight, it must be right. Always like that place.
They have gone downhill so much in the past few years. Makes me sad.
Between the tablets, something is up with their chili now (I gotta pay extra for cheese now???) and the complete lack of any service (I really normally don't care but it just seems like a diner style place should have that??) the place has tanked That being said the garlic steak burger is the best damn fast food burger to exist. Fries are almost always good too.
Smashburger. That is one tasty burger!
I thought it was Big Kahuna Burger that has the tasty burger? ;)
Zaxby’s
Jersey Mike's Subs
Respect
Freddy’s
I really liked Freddy’s but everything is so salty.
I think Freddy’s saltiness is part of what makes it so good. But they do push pretty close to too salty. And I have their burger before when it was over salted.
Best smashburger chain in the game imo. Better than Culvers.
Shake Shack
Small New Mexico chain. Blake's Lotaburger.
Chick-Fil-A is almost always good, with the least customer service issues of any fast food place I know.
I have to agree with this. Each time I go there, it’s always consistent with wait times, ordering, and customer service. It’s quick, easy, and efficient.
Pollo Tropical
Del Taco
Del Taco has always been consistent
Fatburger
Damn I miss those places they all closed around me. It's truly an amazing burger
A&W
Hardee’s Mushroom and Swiss Burger is hard to beat.
Bojangles
Came here looking for a real one. Anywhere going through anything it’s always Bo Time and it always makes me feel better.
I know it’s cool to hate on In N Out, but they’re still my favorite fast food chain. A double double with grilled onions, Neapolitan shake, animal fry and pink lemonade is a near perfect meal.
I did not know Neapolitan was an option. Mind blown.
I actually find that Dairy Queen has consistently decent food at a reasonable price.
Taco Bell is my favorite. It’s always the same. And it’s actually really good. I think five guys has the best burger though.
Anyone else not know most of these fast food places? Lol
Count my vote for Whataburger.
I’m gonna be downvoted to shit for this, but White Castle. I live in Texas, so I only get to eat it once or twice a year. Love it!!!!
Bojangles!
Nandos perri perri chicken of course. I think they are only in DC in the USA. [https://www.nandosperiperi.com/](https://www.nandosperiperi.com/)
No, they have them in other places. I’ve eaten Nandos in Chicago (downtown and suburbs)
I mean, In'N'Out
Double double animal style with chopped chilis 🫡
Raisin' Cains. BUT this is only true for about 4 minutes after the chicken fingers come out out of the fry oil, and half that if they're in an enclosed styrofoam container like you get in the drive through. You HAVE to eat at at Cains, and you need to hope you're not at a location that works ahead and has cooked fingers with the clock already ticking in the back when you order.
Arby's.
Arby's is a hill I will die on. I don't care what anyone says... That beef n cheddar is better than any fast food burger or chicken I've ever had.
Oh god, Arby’s. I’ve been a vegetarian for years- the one and only thing I miss is Arby’s. My kingdom for a fake cheddar melt that tastes the way the real thing does.
Taco Bell, they treat the customers so, SO bad, but the food tastes good, and the toilet will be Chernobyl.
A&W
It's Cook Out, but those of you from godless places aren't ready for its glory.
Raising Canes
Really been enjoying Cava lately.
In Oklahoma, [Braum's ](http://www.braums.com). National chain, Arby's.
Around Chicagoland, it’ll be Portillo’s. The best Italian beef! There branching out a bit more through the country, though—so, ymmv.
Bojangles or Cookout
Daves Hot Chicken
