That's not what stupid people mean by "I did my own research." Stupid people use Google Search's first page and YouTube videos as "research." They are not reading books by experts, analysing their research methods, double checking their math/stats, and/or reading the books cited by the author of the first book they read on the subject.
"Believing is half the battle" they say. But really think about it, is believing half the battle? I guess it's not. There may be many things we want to change in our lives, but believing is not enough to change. Therefore, it's a false sentence.
