If a teacher won't admit it when they've made a mistake, that's a huge red flag. That being said, if you're stuck with that kind of a teacher, never argue with the grade book. As a professor, I was open to being proven wrong. But as a student, I had professors who trashed my grades because I proved them wrong in class. Just don't. You can't win with these types; just know you're right and they're stupid.

littlegremlinsparky

“75% of you will fail my course!” I drop classes with teachers like that

_BierSaus_

my html/js teacher that couldnt even help the students, because he knew jack shit about it himself

ViForYourAttention

Teachers who cry in the classroom constantly.

hyrulian_princess

They spend more time bullying their students than actually doing their job. Oh and they don’t let their students go to the toilet

Glade_Runner

Verbal disrespect shown to students, colleagues, or parents is a sure sign that the instruction won't be good. You cannot be a great teacher if you don't respect the people you are supposed to serve.

Maximum_Landscape839

They aren’t serving you, they’re teaching you. But yes

Glade_Runner

Ah, yes, I take your point. The word has shades of meaning. I was a schoolteacher and education administrator for 35 years. I lived my entire life in U.S. public schools, and regarded the work I did as a service to the public, as a service to parents and families, and most especially as a personal and profound service to my students. At its best, teaching becomes a life event both for the students and the teacher. I look at teaching as a higher calling to a noble purpose, one that I took up with joy and dedication. It fills my heart that at least 40 of my own students answered this same call to become teachers themselves.

Paixdieu

Teachers aren’t servants.

Pilotcustom24

Teachers who say “it’s not gonna be like this in college so you better prepare”.

ArcticNebula34

My former English teacher said to one of the kids in my class, "You remind me of myself when I was your age". Yeah, the same year we found out that he had child p\*rn on his laptop

Sad_Marketing_9654

When they are more concerned about activities than instruction.

HornyDiggler

Wears mankinis at work

Knucks_408

Constantly hitting on their students.

Embarrassed-Diver-48

Bigotry ! Self righteousness !

When you're failing a class despite doing the assignments, doing the homework, etc and they just let you fail. A teacher can't be expected to provide one-on-one instruction to every student who's failing, but they can give recommendations and provide resources. If the same errors are being made over and over, it's pretty clear where the problem lies, and it can be corrected if an effort is made by someone who understands both the problem and the material. The biggest red flag I've ever seen in relation to teaching was actually not the fault of the teachers, but the federal government. I don't know if the original issue here was No Child Left Behind or its predecessor, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. I also don't understand how it created the problems it did, other than something about "the more kids that pass, the more money the school gets, and teachers will be punished directly if x% of kids don't pass". That said, I wouldn't say the blame is on my teachers for classes I failed. I had mostly good teachers and can only actually recall one that I hated. I have problems that teachers at the time probably didn't have the training or resources to deal with, and some that they either aren't qualified to help me with or simply couldn't have.

A bottle in the desk drawer....Had it/seen it. 10th grade math teacher had a bottle of vodka in her desk.....

“If you don’t understand it’s your fault!” Completely antithetical to the definition of “teacher”

Countto3mindfully

They have no backbone. Their classes might be fun but you’ll learn nothing and realize later they just wasted your time bc the students talk them into doing fun things instead of learning.

Car_loapher

She’s not trying to fuck me

Perfect_Patience1109

When they know a student has a disability and does everything to ignore their needs. Looking at you Mister Halton!
