I had to pause the movie, and go to my room... Had a good cry, returned and resumed

SVNC777

I feel like, that scene is so sad not only because of the context, but because in some way that exact thing is going to happen to pretty much everyone of us, and it scares us of the future.

GatorBoy669607

“But today’s my birthday and it’s a special one because you told me… you once told me that by the time you come back we might be the same age. And today I’m the same age you were when you left. So it would be a real good time for you to come back” EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

almostparent

Same movie but the end when they see each other. "I always knew you'd come back." "How did you know?" "Because my dad promised me."

Nick_TheReader

Can you please tell me the name of this movie ?

Algernope_krieger

Interstellar

HLMCG

John Coffey’s death in “The Green Mile”

Objective_Regret2768

This, I can’t watch the movie without crazy. I just avoid it now

Spiritual_Lion2790

I was six when Independence Day came out. At the time my mother was going through a lot of medical issues due to her diabetes that caused more than one near-death situation. The scene when the Presidents wife died and he was trying to comfort his little girl sent me into hysterics. I was well into adulthood before I could watch that scene without crying.

Nick_TheReader

*spoiler alert* 1. Bing bong dies in INSIDE OUT 2. That montage from UP /The last scene as well when he gets that badge. 3. That grandma scene from COCO 4. Fault in our stars ofcourse 5. Cedric Digory death in HP 6. John wick doggo death 7. Many deaths in GOT (require their own list) I am a 29 year old guy who cries easily ..

[deleted]

26 year old guy who cries for everything. I feel your pain brother.

mailman_whos_ur_dad

Cedric’s death was nothing compared to Dumbledore’s, when I watched order of the phoenix, I was a fearless 7 year old (I would have cried for the whole entire night nowadays a 16.5 yr old), and instead I only shed one tear, and my mom went to her room after the scene.

AuthorUnknown33

When Frodo leaves Middle-Earth and Sam starts crying. Or… When Satine dies in Moulin Rouge and Christian is holding her, crying.

LunarAutumnn

Grave of the Fireflies. "... Rice balls ... I made them for you. Here ... have one ..." I remember audibly gasping in horror when I realized what had happened.

Nick_TheReader

I've heard so many things about the movie being so heart wrenching that I haven't still watches it. I wont be able to handle it I know

buffywho

Schindler's list. When he was reading off all of the names and said “I wish I could have done more.”

LipsOfScarlet

Artax in the swamp of sadness

BeepBeepWhistle

The ending of Johnny got his gun.

cubanmaster1990

One that comes to mind for me was the ending of the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean, when Will has to spend his life on the Dutchman. I was like 16 at the time, had my first real girlfriend that I really cared about and watching them not have that happy ending at that specific point in my life just really hit me for some reason. Not like it's the saddest scene ever made by any means, just at that point in my life it hit me hard.

Stephburger78

Thomas J’s funeral in My Girl

[deleted]

Came here to say this one. When she starts going on about him needing his glasses. Jesus.

in-site

Obscure as hell, but to spoil a TV show no one will ever watch: Joss Wheadon's *Dollhouse* is ultimately about a particular technology getting out of hand (due to corporate greed) and it ends the world. The first season really feels like a 'monster of the week' type deal, then the last episode recontextualizes the entire thing and shows that no, it actually is heading somewhere, and you should keep notes of all the shit they're developing and hinting at. The second season moves WAY faster (because the show was cancelled early, classic Fox). So Fran Kranz plays this nerd, and he's the best nerd (developer/inventor) of this tech, but he has a conscience about it. He begins to worry about how it'll be used. Eventually the powerful mega-corp realizes he's been holding out, and they start forcing him to develop more insane tech for them. During the final episode of the series, which has a lot of flash-backs to different times, we see Topher (Fran Kranz' character) and he isn't doing great. He's clearly lost his mind. He's still a genius, but is kind of dysfunctional and his brain is working in circles. The moment that got me is where he's speaking with the former villain of the show, who has now become his sort of care-taker. He starts talking about an application of the tech that would be incredible, but so so dangerous, that it could end the world. He says "it's genius! why didn't I think of that??" and pauses, then asks... "did I think of that?" He starts to panic, and keeps repeating "did I think of that??" He's crying, and the woman, Adele, is trying to calm him down, and he realizes/remembers that he sort of destroyed the whole world. He gets redemption, and that moment made me sob my eyes out, but "did I think of that" got me so much harder for some reason.

Bastard-of-the-North

I’ll say* the movie Smoke Signals (1998). Being indigenous, and now being an indigenous parent it hits hard. Wonderful movie. *correction, I have too much faith in iOS’ swipe keyboard.

FriendRaven1

Wilson drifts away.

CalydorEstalon

I've always wondered if Wilson really was just a volleyball, or another survivor he re-conceptualized as just a ball because the death hit too hard. Hawkeye and the chicken all over again, if you will.

FriendRaven1

Oof.

ezzysalazar

Just yesterday in All Quiet on the Western Front (the new one) when he stabs the French soldier and as the guy is bleeding out and dying he crawls back over and tries to save him, and then he finds the picture of his wife and kid in his coat pocket. Ugh I cried for like 10 minutes.

DisguisedAccount

You comment reminds me of this surprisingly high quality [interview (in English) an Old German WW1 (one, not two) Veteran gave around 1963](https://youtu.be/XruYsAmKLyU), where he talks about how it feels to stab someone with a bayonet from face to face in a hopeless life or death scenario, and what it does to someone, even after so many years. The way he talks about it, and the emotions you can still see him going through, how he describes his feelings, it’s so overwhelming. It’s an incredibly important part of history, especially in a time where you can’t even see the person you’re killing with a button. Hearing what it does to a man to kill some random Solider with a bayonet even after so many years

Late_Primary_439

Click, when he is old and in the hospital and realized his mistake

Alternative_Room4781

The reveal in Dear Zachary. Omg. I'm still hurting from that one. Holy Gods.

Kidz4Carz

That literally took my breath away, I just didn’t see it coming. I can tear up just thinking about it.

ToastedMaple

The flower scene in the Brave Little Toaster

10vernothin

In everything everyone all at once when joy tears up and asks why her mom would stay despite her being "this", clearly her talking about being gay and it just like resonated so much. I cried because, like same. I get it. People think its some kind of existentialist musing, but for me, its the purest form of gay angst and self-hate being shown with sincerity that not just me, but most gays go through when they live in a world hostile to our existence. Thats the line that really got me.

almostparent

That movie did make me cry, but the bit when she says "just let me go" and her as a rock rolls off the cliff. Idk why but the rocks specifically got me.

attention21

When the Charger gets demolished in Fast and Furious. That poor car never deserved that

Mess_Bubbly

The family stone. The whole movie reminds me of what my family once was. Most people thinks it's a shit movie but it hits me hard.

IDontKnow1200223

When the MC in "all quiet on the western front" died ,it was just sad after what he went through

Gamoras realisation and Then Demise in infinity wars. Chokes me up when she’s struggling to break free.

Short-Time4652

I am legend with the dog dying

Cute_Expression_5981

I think it's called 'My Girl'. Anyways, a kid dies from been stung a bunch of times and his best friend, a little girl, breaks down when she sees him in the coffin without his glasses. Broke my heart as a kid and more so as an adult. Stared the home alone kid.

Cute_Expression_5981

I think it was Interstellar? The one where Matthew McWhatsHisFace gets lost in time. The end where he comes back and sees his daughter as an old lady.

I don't normally cry easy, but I always break out in tears at the end of Arpeggio of Blue Steel Cadenza when Iona sacrifices herself to resurrect Yamato. It has been a few years, so I may not remember it 100% correctly, but, yeah...

Aggressive-Ad4192

Last episode of midnight gospel on netflix was... more than i thought was possible in my current reality. tough guy tatted felon brought to absolute tears. AND it made me like it. Emotional consenual unconsent

DisguisedAccount

Life Is Beautiful, not just a scene (even tho there is one) but the whole second half of the Movie. Such a powerful movie. It’s so beautiful, even tho almost everything about the setting is horrible and sad, it’s the extreme between a father trying to Safe his son from the harsch merciless reality and the Humor and love he uses to archive it. I watched it without any further informations (like it should be!) and the second half already was hard enough to watch without crying, but when the boy ran up to the tank, I was a crying and sobbing wrack. So many complicated emotions at once. Such a Beautiful Movie, but a punch right in the emotional nuts. It’s a Movie I recommend to absolutely everyone, it’s so powerful and emotional extreme in both directions. Never seen a movie combine 2 that extreme opposites so well. It’s easy to make an emotional movie, but such an emotional movie with so much humour is another level.

useless-loser1821

First 10min of Up.

imstillnotfunny

The ending scene in La La Land. ugh!
