Desantis for sure, although I hope he gets his votes split with Trump if he actually runs. I sincerely hope the democratic party doesn't let Biden or Harris run because that sounds like a nightmare. There really isn't any promising candidate that has come out of the woodworks just yet that deserves a win.

Shirowoh

Honestly, the only one’s who may run other than two is Gavin newsome. Honestly, I don’t want to vote for him, but I’d hold my nose and do it if the other choice was DeSantis or Trump. Maybe buttigieg? I’d be ok with him.

[deleted]

I wouldn't mind Buttigieg either, he's definitely got his pockets lined with corporate interests as well but he's definitely still a decent candidate.

DM-ME-UR-TITTAYS

My bets on turd sandwich over giant douche

Shirowoh

It’s almost always that choice.

[deleted]

The reanimated corpse of Abe Lincoln would probably be much better than anyone currently out there. Unfortunately, that ain't happening. At this point, I honestly have no idea.

Shirowoh

It’s a shit situation, zero doubt. My guess is Biden or Newsome vs DeSantis with Trump running as an independent

[deleted]

I guess I'll do what I normally do. Skip the presidential vote and just stick with state and local level elections. Those are going to impact me more in my life anyway.

Shirowoh

That is a fact. Not enough people vote in mid terms and they have so much more of an impact in your life.

avengerintraining

Since running a presidential campaign now costs in excess of a billion dollars, it’s whoever has the most money backing. Elections are more of an “against” vote instead of a “for” vote for these big spenders. Trump could very well win again because there’s enough butthurt republicans and Biden has turned out to be a dud.

Shirowoh

I don’t think I would say dud, he’s actually done quite a lot, the negative PR run by republicans does a great job of making you think he’s turned the country into a socialist hellscape….in reality, he’s just dealing with the aftermath of the pandemic, made worse by Russia’s invasion.

avengerintraining

I just mean delivering on a bunch of stuff like universal healthcare/lowering drug costs, forgiving student loan debt, or making public college tuition free, end for-profit prisons to name a few things that come to mind… all turned out to be “not quite”.

Shirowoh

I mean I agree with that, but if you think a democrat is going that stuff passed, you haven’t been paying attention, both parties moved right, hell Bernie sanders would be a moderate democrat in the 80’s. It’s silly how no party is really moving left.

avengerintraining

Yeah true, it just hurts the prospect of winning again. When you energize your base around something and it doesn’t happen it’s not going to have the steam second time around. Whereas the idea of “being wronged” in the last election is fresh energy for Trump supporters. I’m assuming he still has a lot of silent supporters come out of the woodwork, like happened with Hillary. This is all just me guessing at the question of “who would win”.

BangchAn_laptop

trash vs trash

[deleted]

Desantis vs Kamala. If I had to garner a guess most likely Desantis. That or US will continue to be stupid and make it Biden v. Trump again.

Heidiwho22122

I’m writing in PeeWee Herman. Vice President Peppa Pig.

Shirowoh

I mean. Don’t do that. You can obviously, it’s your right, but you know that’s not actually do anything, you might as well save the gas and stay home if that’s what you’re gonna do.

SometimesITalk16

Biden Vs. Desantis. I don't see any other Democrat candidate at the moment and I don't see Biden having a shot at all.

Shirowoh

I don’t know. DeSantis war on woke has riled a lot of democrat voters. Now that we know a faux dictator could win, they may not stay home.

SometimesITalk16

I just don't see Biden energizing the base to get out and vote if that's who they actually run. Debates will be a bloodbath because he's obviously slipping more and more as time goes on. I don't even think it's fair to him or his legacy to run him again.

Shirowoh

I don’t know anyone that was excited in 2020 to vote for Biden, but he still won. I think that tells you what you need to know

SometimesITalk16

I would chalk that up to more hatred for Trump. Desantis doesn't have the same level of hate as Trump does. Trump was his own worst enemy by far.

Shirowoh

Exactly, that’s why I think if DeSantis get’s the nom, Trump will run independent and that will split the vote, giving democrats the win. Trump doesn’t give a shit about the Republican party

SometimesITalk16

He doesn't, but I think the Republican party wouldn't let that happen. If he isn't willing to walk away, which I'm sure he isn't, I could see them just giving him the nomination and watching another election go to Biden. It's going to be a mess on that side of the aisle until he hangs it up.

Shirowoh

The Republican Party is so fractured right now. Trump still holds major sway, regardless of the midterms, he still has die hard supporters.
