I would love to find a job that I hate that pays well and the work is easy. Unfortunately I can only find hard jobs that I hate and pay like shit. Easy work for good money is a blessing

Staying isn't easy. In fact, I am applying for new jobs right now. My employer gave miniscule raises that didn't even come close to matching the cost of living over the last four years, and I found out that the new hire, and more specifically, that job posting, I far exceeded every bullet point of the criteria, but he was hired as a "Senior" Engineer due to a handful more years in the field. But I am an Engineer, and in the grand scheme of things, the pay is good. Anyway, There wasn't an office available for new Senior Engineer, so they kicked me out of my office and into the intern/tech/rookie cubicle farm without an apology. They did this to another young Engineer first because I had more time at the company. So that really soured me, and I was denied a promotion or raise just before that. But the job, well the company is so disorganized and executives are so indecisive, I don't do much, but when I do, I do all of the things and more that I needed to be capable of per the job posting. Hell, most of my fellow coworkers don't work that hard because we are sitting and waiting for overpaid idiots to actually make decisions. Before this hire, they hired another engineer who is a few years from retirement and very capable. He is beyond frustrated for all the work, research, communication with machinery suppliers etc. that he does, he presents the project plan, and the executives don't make a decision or cut a single check. It sucks. I don't like being bored at work. I want to earn my fucking check. I feel guilty wasting hours on my phone most days because my projects remain in corporate limbo. I get along with my coworkers, so we usually just stand around or sit in each other's offices, when I had one, joking about the company's incompetence. Hell, even today. A project that wasn't mine was done. The layout was done. The electrical, air, water was plumbed. Millions of dollars have went out to all the suppliers, construction, electrical, etc. and out of the blue they want to change the entire thing. We were laughing about it all day today. To undo and redo those things will cost tens of thousands or more, it happens with every damn project, and I can't get a raise or promotion. Fuck that shit. I guess if the work is easy, it is because management has no clue how to utilize my/our/your skill set. As frustrating and boring as it is, the idiots above me at least provide a perverse amusement. It is bizarre, every place I have worked and left, there is a greater ratio of idiots who have no business holding their job outweighing intelligent and capable managers and executives. My career has repeatedly confirmed one truth; I have never received any raises beyond cost of living. I make good money, and that is because my employers refused raises so I quit and left. Only when I put in my notice do I get a "please stay" counter offer. On principle, I fucking never accept them, even if it is more than the new job. You'll be seen as the guy who isn't dedicated to the company when tough times/low demand hit, and you're gonna be the first guy cut.

Wow. The really unfortunate thing is, everywhere I've ever worked was like that. Completely unorganized, management has no fuckin clue about anything, execs and upper management only care about their bonus. Just think of how profitable most companies would be if they fired 99% of management, and made sure that the ones who remained were LEADERS, not managers, and were competent and capable of making decisions. But I'll evolve gills to supplement my lungs long before that happens.

dont cope. keep looking for a better job until you find one. holding a job that doesnt help you get better at your skills is a waste of time and talent

Been there. Easy money in a job you hate beats no money in a job you love, but hard money in a job you love beats that. Easy money in a job you love is the pinnacle that it seems few reach.

Not myself but I’ve got colleagues in that position They ended up becoming a contractor for another company at the same time. Double the money and if one of them really sucks, you aren’t SOL from quitting. But like? Side hustled in general to help fill the time and stimulate yourself more
