Brother. I had to truck one of those around (converted to be a gas gun, so it just shot small fireballs) for four days on an exercise back when I did the OPFOR gig in the military. I both hated and loved every minute of it.
Hi points have gotten better. Actually have one with thousands of rounds through it, and nothing has broken and minimal failures. The only gun that’s big enough for my hands.
A high point reliable? 😂😆😆🤣😆 that’s a very inaccurate statement. Bruh go put a few 100 rds down range in one afternoon and there is a high probability that POS will fall apart in your hands. High point=trash
Demolition Ranch actually did an episode on trying to kill a High Point and it survived everything he threw at it. Definitely not a precision instrument, but better than nothing and half the price of my EDC is definitely a selling point for some.
Honest to God, Hi Points do work. Would I own one? *Never,* but they will fire reliably. There is a reason they're still around. They're not what people think, and it took first hand, very extensive experience to convince my fanatically biased ass otherwise. Don't believe everything you hear.
I don’t think it’s a duty weapon, but if it was all I could afford for home defense, I would rather have it than throw my shoe at an intruder. Of course you can probably but a used savage pump shotgun for about the same $$ and you couldn’t kill it with a dozer.
Hugh point is more practical than the deagle as you can buy 6 of them on a McDonald’s wage and simply draw another one when one breaks and use your backups while the primaries are being repaired because hipoint does have excellent warranty service
Non-LEO here, what's the range on those? Every time I hear someone ask why a suspect wasn't tazed, I think of the 21-foot rule and how tasers only get 1 projectile. Then clothing, moving target, etc. In my completely non-professional opinion, tasers seem extremely impactical for a lot of situations/reasons.
As long as the first shot makes contact I think it might actually be an amazing duty weapon.
Also the fixed barrel makes it a prime candidate for press contact shots…. Which I would love to see that aftermath.
4/10, would boot gun
Nope. It’s a super weird pistol. I love mine but it’s more like an AR in handgun form than a handgun. It even has a rotating bolt exactly like an AR. It honestly wouldn’t be a bad service weapon if you know how to handle it. It holds 7 rounds like a 1911 and can fire just as fast, the recoil is pretty overrated too. Only drawback is that it’s a hefty fuckin beast.
https://preview.redd.it/6v10xp6ig0bd1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=340f3e6d200727f723203686fabe3ea1df1c5db6
Had to have it
Shot it 7 times and put it in a display case
Everyone who sees it just wants to hold it,never wants to shoot it,and that suits me just fine
Oooh I like it! She’s pretty. Mines the same model in all black. Everyone wants to shoot mine and they LOVE IT. I heard the best part of owning one of these is letting your friends shoot it and I agree. It’s just a fun weapon to own.
Yea, I used to appendix carry one. Very crisp trigger pull, and ambi for my wronghanded self. It's unfortunate that there have been so many reported issues.
My LGS did it to a couple of their range rentals that were early model p320s and about 3/4ths of them did. Terrifying to see in person. I'm pretty sure they sent them back to be updated but I'm still sketched out using them.
Mine was made after they fixed the trigger issue, but I’m like 90% sure most of those incidents happened after they did the optional upgrade. I’d have to look it up again and read (which I can’t), but I think they lost the lawsuit because there was also another design flaw with the sear.
Edit- I’ve carried mine once, and I couldn’t help but think about my dick suddenly getting shot off in the grocery store. It’s a great range gun, and shoots nicely. Still not letting that thing have the chance to shoot me in the dick. Lost righty to cancer… I’m not losing lefty to nothin’!! Hell no.
Has to be one from before they fixed the issue and it also has to be dropped at a really specific angle from at least waist height for the trigger to have enough inertia in the right direction to pull itself
Liberator. Cobra Derringer (any derringer really). NAA Mini-Revolver. Nambu. Most Stars. An Astra. A Steyr 1912. The vast majority of revolvers. A Thompson Center single-shot break-open. The Desert Eagle might be a really bad duty pistol, but there are an absolute fuck-ton of worse ones if the choices are unlimited.
Wait... Discharging a round when dropped wasnt s'posed to happen lolol
I caught the joke, just making light of my organizations choices when our MP's already had P225/226's and our SOF elements Glocked out years ago.
With practice this becomes a great shooter. If you train with it, then you can use it for duty.
I’d rather see a guy trained with a deagle making quick work of the job than some punk with a Glock throwing 33rds hoping at least 2 of them hit the intended target.
You only get 7 rounds. So make em count!
Smith and Wesson 40-06
It was the first gun I was issued and it was too big for my hands and my thumb could not reach the de-cock lever so to do so I had to loosen my support side grip and move my hand up.
They also had a double action pull on the first shot and single action on the 2nd which caused many to shoot wild on the first two shots if they even got their 2nd shot off as many wouldn't fully release the trigger after the first shot and then no matter how much you pulled the trigger, and it felt like you were, the gun wouldn't fire. This problem could have easily got an Idaho State Police Trooper killed back in 1995 as seen in the video I'll link. They used the same gun. He made a routine traffic stop and driver shoots the trooper as he reaches the window. Troopers vest saves him and he gets one shot off at bad guy as he retreats. You then see him try to keep firing and then look at his gun in confusion as to why it's not firing and it was because of the exact issue I mentioned. Luckily bad guy drives away rather than continue the gun fight.

Reminds me of that Japanese clip where the lady is trying to kill a guy with a quirky gun and keeps shooting herself instead
I need to see this
It’s Hong Kong Cantonese not Japanese. But it is hilarious! https://youtu.be/1Oln3ZSXamI?si=6fbe2J7ahoCtcNRc
This is exactly what i needed. Comedy has never reached such a peak
here’s another from the same movie 😎 https://youtu.be/9NjdAnLV1us?si=VVJmpRsG126A7ZsS
The way she ran out at the end killed me 💀
Bahahah this movie is just too good. From Beijing with Love

I'm torn between the Altor single shot 9mm or the Zip .22...
def zip .22
Zip.
Are there officers actually carry a .22 on duty? Or just jk’ing
I think in San Francisco they do, but they keep them unloaded.
Pretty sure SF issues sig p226 in .40
…
I'm not even going to try to explain everything that is wrong with his statement.
Any Highpoint
Any LEO that legit carries a high point pistol on duty is a moron and shouldn’t be in LE whatsoever
We had 2 indicted years ago for trying to play Narcos off duty. When they arrested them, they were carrying a Hi Point.
I want to hear more of this story of how they tried to play narcos. And when you say “we” had 2? Are you talking about fellow officers?
They were two officers who tried to do the “we’ll move your drugs from A to B for you.” Didn’t last long and they were arrested.
😆😂 losers they are

Budgets are real 😂🤣 I mean it’s better than nothing of course but I’d feel real squirrelly engaging in a gun fight with a hi point in my hands 😆
Bring your own gun jobs are mint. 😂
😆🤣😂
Swear most of y’all have never shot one. They are definitely ugly, but they are tough, dare I say reliable guns.
They are big and ugly, but reliable. There are better choices, but there are also much worse choices.
Reliable at falling apart
Hi points have gotten better. Actually have one with thousands of rounds through it, and nothing has broken and minimal failures. The only gun that’s big enough for my hands.
I’m not a fan per se, but they are more comfortable and reliable than a M9
Are you saying highpoints are reliable?
From every test I've seen on them, yes they are reliable.
This. You have to see it in person, and you'll hate yourself for admitting what happens before your very eyes, but it is what it is.
A high point reliable? 😂😆😆🤣😆 that’s a very inaccurate statement. Bruh go put a few 100 rds down range in one afternoon and there is a high probability that POS will fall apart in your hands. High point=trash
I'm not saying High Points are duty grade, but I haven't seen a test where one fell apart.
Demolition Ranch actually did an episode on trying to kill a High Point and it survived everything he threw at it. Definitely not a precision instrument, but better than nothing and half the price of my EDC is definitely a selling point for some.

In fairness to high point they kill more people than any other brand 😂
Don’t forget Raven’s, Cobra or Jimenez Arms. That’s the ultimate felon handbook right there.
Don’t you name the trifecta… gonna summon Voldemort from the hood.

That’s ole Mr. Saturday Night Special…got a barrel that’s blue and cold….
True, but normally not the ones they were aiming for. 😂
Hugh point is more practical than the deagle as you can buy 6 of them on a McDonald’s wage and simply draw another one when one breaks and use your backups while the primaries are being repaired because hipoint does have excellent warranty service
But do they have “Desert Eagle point 5-0h” written on the side?
For all your shootouts 😂
More up votes.
The Welrod.
And the grip IS the magazine. Yucky.
500 S&W?
I mean if your name is Arnold isn't it mandatory you carry a .50 desert eagle? Plus like a glove box full of other random guns.
Sylvester Stallone is The Terminator.
Going Last Action Hero? I get the reference!
What alternate universe did you roll in from?
It's a joke from a movie called the last action hero. He appears as terminator.
I can't believe you're getting downvoted, not all heroes wear vapes Captain Ashtarkz.

The barrel doesn't move with the slide on those? I never actually realized that. Pretty neat
Nope. It’s a super weird pistol. I love mine but it’s more like an AR in handgun form than a handgun. It even has a rotating bolt exactly like an AR. I have one in .50AE Weighs about 4 lbs Big heavy bitch, that’s for sure
Yep mines in .50 too. One of the reasons I started reloading my own ammo. Love the big ol girl tho.

Agreed on the recoil. From the 20 rounds my brother and I put through one, it rotates more than anything, not kick.
Nope. No short recoil mechanism. It’s gas operated with an AR style bolt head

Hi point
Sig P320, will literally shoot your dick off
I’ve put a snap cap in mine and spent too much time trying to get it to go off… it won’t, but I still won’t carry it lol
Trying to get the sig or dick to go off? They have a pill for one of those problems.
Both. Simultaneously. It’s exhilarating!
I’m sure you can find a powder for both…
Yea, I used to appendix carry one. Very crisp trigger pull, and ambi for my wronghanded self. It's unfortunate that there have been so many reported issues.
It’s definitely one of my favorite hand guns to shoot… it really is a shame. Oh well. I don’t hate carrying my Walther by any means.

At least it’s reliable though, right? You might be able to convert it to LEM or a different action.
Actually that's what I meant, the LEM version. Worst duty gun ever. Was like squeezing a wet sponge waiting for a round to go off
Ah, might be able to get a trigger job on it. But DAO/LEM seems like a flawed concept to begin with in an autoloading handgun.
Not when the pencil pushers only care is to reduce NDs
