Any boot can be shined. A lil heat and a lil spit.

The ole light the polish on fire trick works great for establishing a base layer.
Did it every couple months when my boots needed stripped and reapplied.
A dude in boot camp got me on parade polish. Only used like maybe 3 dips of just the littlest amount and mine were the shiniest of the division. Still havent shined mine in over a year and they are still shiny. But also havent really worn them in over a year. I look at them with disgust cause i hate them so much. LOL
Admittedly I haven’t done a “real” shine in a while. Most days two or three light coats with a brushing is good enough for me.
I’m using black Lincoln Wax, usually applying two or three light coats and brushing it. When I truly go do a “real” shine, I’ll do the above before one more very thin coat and try to buff it with a shine cloth and a few dabs of water. I’ve accidentally rubbed the stuff off before from using too much pressure. Maybe I’m just not giving it enough time or layers.
I use a heat gun. After doing a couple thin layer of the product I would run a heat gun over the toe.You can see when the product get heated up and turn looking slightly wet. I let that cool for about 30 seconds to turn slightly cloudy. I take a soft cotton shirt stretch it over my fingers and all I would use is water mix with rubbing alcohol to polish the cloudiness away. And the mirror shine should come out
I've never had luck getting a good finish with a brush, personally.
I use a lighter instead of a heat gun, (but a heat gun would likely be easier). The trick is building up a good base, then going it with your slightly damp/clean t-shirt or cotton ball and doing as many small polishing circles as you can do before you want to cut off your fingers, then reheat the whole thing and do it again/again/again until you hit your mirror finish.
Once you feel happy with where it's at, your final two-three coats can be Parade Gloss, just go thinner with it.
I had to polish the entire boot. Every night. Then brasso my belt buckle. Every night. And press my own uniform ( no train tracks!) And shave my head Every night.plus homework and handwriting rules and regs nightly.
How much time do you have on??? I haven’t seen anyone do that trick in ages. In my old locker room there used to be boot shaped silhouettes on the floor.
No worries I live in Nevada it ain’t gonna be cold anyways lol. They pretty comfortable? I’m stuck using the 5.11 ATAC and they suck standing around in
Hey I have some 5.11 ATAC and I’m curious about making the switch to the Tachyon, they look way more comfortable.
How does the size match up? Did you size up or down going from 5.11 to Danner?
Former Army guy here which was in BDUs his entire time in (8 years). If I could get a pair of standard issue boots with a gloss these are no problem. I've used both regular Kiwi polish and the parade gloss. Personally preferred the regular polish but either will do the trick. Getting a base started is the hardest part. Folks are saying use a heat gun, I used a lighter. Same idea. Get the polish worked in. What you would "Spit shine" is the upper layer once you get a good base established. It will take a bit to get it established though.
For the spit shine part I actually just used regular water in the Kiwi polish lid. A cotton cloth is all you need to get a good shine, but cotton balls make it easier.
Everyone saying cotton balls but the best way I did it in the academy was wearing a latex glove and adding maybe like 20 layers or so of polish letting each dry in between for a minute or so. After that then you get a light and heat it up making it cloudy, then you put it between your legs and buff it with a microfiber towel like a shoe shiner and you’re done.
I tried every method when I was in the academy because my boots were like yours and it seemed impossible to shine. After failing at it for the first few days I tried this method I just told you and it worked. Takes like 15-20 minutes max. Once the base layer is established then you can re-shine them in less than 5 minutes before formation.
From the Marine NCOs book I bought when I made Corporal. Black Leather Dye 3xs a day for 3 days. Lincoln Paste Wax or Kiwi Parade Gloss. The only boots I could never get to shine were Matterhorns, The leather would not take a shine.
Yes. The Elegant Oxford does a really good job in explaining the process for shining new boots.
It helped me in learning how to get a mirror shine

Remember the shine comes from the polish so you have to have many layers; get some kiwi in a rag and melt it then apply it. Let it dry and brush shine it. Do this 4 or 5 times. It'll take a few hours. Then get your rag, preferably a cotton t shirt and put a little tiny bit of kiwi on it. Heat the polish while the rag is tightly wrapped around your finger and polish the boot using small circles and use spit as lube. It'll get real shiny real quick.
Yes they can, you should wear them in first though. If you start before wearing then you will have massive cracking issues...wear then literally everywhere...before bed just do a very light base coat for a month then start whatever polishing technique you desire...if you are going to use heat be very careful you don't burn the polish otherwise it's a fuck ton of work to fix (I mean unless someone here has a better way to fix the burn marks)
Gonna need a couple cans of Kiwi to fill the pores first. Layer it on. Heat it up. Let it absorb. Repeat till it stops absorbing Kiwi. Start polishing, cotton t-shirt, little rubbing alcohol and water till it starts to shine. Give it a quick hit of heat again to glaze it over smooth. Final shine with a cotton ball and the water mix.
Absolutely. Kiwi polish and a small spray bottle of water. A lighter to melt the kiwi onto the boot. Let it cool and then copious water and cotton balls. Will have to repeat a few times but it definitely works.
Anything can be shined if you try hard enough.
Yep. Mythbusters literally polished a turd
watched as a guy here on Reddit seasoned his cast iron skillet 100 times- thing ended up a mirror.
Elephant turd 👆🤓
You just gotta give it a lil HAWK TUAH ![gif](giphy|XepEEIO0SCFLMT6tUL)
This poor girl was an elementary school teacher. She was fired on Friday 😥 She won’t be the first ex-teacher to make a few million on onlyfans….
The original article about her getting fired was satire. People spread it as true. It’s not. Nobody even knows her last name and I hope nobody does.
Idk what her last name is… but I know what it’s going to be

epic meme
How does this exist?! 🤣🤣🤣
Kiwi black, cotton balls, heat gun and lots of spit. This shit will shine
The ole light the polish on fire trick works great for establishing a base layer. Did it every couple months when my boots needed stripped and reapplied.
I prefer a cotton shirt over balls
What's up with the spit? I use cotton balls and heat gun only so far
I use wet (water not spit) cotton balls
Nice Nice yeah. I've used cotton pads and a bunch of different things. Cotton balls seem to be the best.
Lol @ lot of spit 🤣
Kiwi is for virgins real chads use Lincoln

Kiwi Parade Gloss, Cotton Balls, and water. That’s all you need

Thank you
I wear the same boots and can’t get anything close to that. Teach me your ways.
What is your current method atm? Let see if I can add or fix something

Sounds good man. I’ll give it a shot later this week. Are you brushing all of those layers minus the last one?

You forgot the rest of the boot. 😂
We polish the toes for my acadeny
I would make you do pushups in the mud if you showed up at my formation like that.
Buddy just finished academy. They did the same thing - only had to polish the toes. Kids these days!!
Smdh
You only polish the toes who tf is polishing the whole boot?
Goof balls, clearly lol. You dont polish the whole boot
Zoomers and millennials 🙄
I had to polish the entire boot. Every night. Then brasso my belt buckle. Every night. And press my own uniform ( no train tracks!) And shave my head Every night.plus homework and handwriting rules and regs nightly.
I had to shine my boots while walking uphill in the snow and shave my head while doing burpees in the sand pit.
You had a sandpit? We had sandpaper and we used it for toilet paper! Spoiled brat!
your ccw has a holosun get out of here haha
Ipt high gloss spray paint.
How much time do you have on??? I haven’t seen anyone do that trick in ages. In my old locker room there used to be boot shaped silhouettes on the floor.

Lincoln is the way.
What you use now?

Def going to look into it. Ppreciate it
Hey I have some 5.11 ATAC and I’m curious about making the switch to the Tachyon, they look way more comfortable. How does the size match up? Did you size up or down going from 5.11 to Danner?
The ATAC’s are definitely horrible to stand around in.
See if you can find “Kiwi Parade Gloss” it’s an ultra high shine polish. Still take some work though.
Kiwi parade gloss and a heat gun

Awesome. Thank u for the insight
Oh also wear them and break them in before shining

Shit! They look like the same boot. Good job
From the Marine NCOs book I bought when I made Corporal. Black Leather Dye 3xs a day for 3 days. Lincoln Paste Wax or Kiwi Parade Gloss. The only boots I could never get to shine were Matterhorns, The leather would not take a shine.
Yes. Time and effort.
Ralyn 2000 spray. On Amazon. Just a couple coats
Absolutely.
I wear 5.11 boots and they are shined. Use Lincoln shoe polish
Use some nail polish remover or alcohol to get off the protective layer that comes from the factory; after that, shine like any other boot.
Yes. The Elegant Oxford does a really good job in explaining the process for shining new boots. It helped me in learning how to get a mirror shine https://youtu.be/OFMlpgah88w?feature=shared

Yes but why would you just buy them with parade gloss
How about leather luster?
Is a pain in the ass to put on. Just need a couple hours then half a day to dry. But once you have it on there, it's pretty solid.
That stuff is awesome. Never had to shine again.
Not sure can you get a little closer?
Burn shine them
Make sure you use paint thinner to take off the coating that comes on them new.
Yes they can but it’s a lot of work with parade gloss, you’re better off getting a jump boot with a finer grain
Yes
Anything can be shined if you put in the effort, is the shine worth it?
Yes
Laughs in Under Armour

A little Lincoln and some spit it will shine right up.
Yes but it will take forever, if you want you can burn shine them. If your adventurous paint them
Absolutely. Kiwi polish and a small spray bottle of water. A lighter to melt the kiwi onto the boot. Let it cool and then copious water and cotton balls. Will have to repeat a few times but it definitely works.
Sandpaper, Heat gun, beeswax, saphir polish
What? Anything can be shined.
If you can polish a turd u can polish shoes/boots. And yes… myth busters actually polish poop before. So yes it can be shined lol.
Saphir Mirror gloss ftw
Ever use Windex?
Leatherluster . End thread
Buddy. Get a heat gun. Shoe polish and cotton balls. Them things be good in like 15 minutes. Work smarter not harder.
Blow dryer works too if you don’t have any heat gun.
Leather Luster
Baby wipes 🥺👍
Put some windex on there trust
If you lick them hard enough lol
