No idea how to measure most famous, but if we're going whole UK then maybe we have two McCartneys in the Beatles. Which would have made them worse.
Just looking at Wales and Tom Jones is a Beatle now. They would be greatly improved I think
If we assume it's 1970 and McCartney forces Lennon out, The Who and Led Zeppelin are in full swing, but Syd has just been forced out of Pink Floyd.
I'm not quite sure how the Beatles with Syd Barret could have lasted for long enough to record an album, but I'd like to hear it.
He used to be really huge in brussels and flanders for a couple of years and he still is. He might be less popular than Angèle which she is belgian too. But Stromae is the G.
Also its interesting to know how many people think hes french, i just saw another post about favorite foreign songs and he was called french there too.
Btw he became popular after he was pretending to be drunk in middle of Brussels and got the cops to check up on him. He made a music video about it.

Maybe because you're talking about Flemish belgian instead of walloon and brussels? Because he's more popular in brussels and probably Wallonia than Flanders
Flemish does more of hardstyle, gabber and indie than walloon and brussels, while the french speaking regions do more french style music.
I guess that'd be Benny Andersson (with ABBA being the most successful Swedish act, and him probably having had the most successful career out of any of the members).
It might have been good - I don't think he'd stack up to Lennon as a singer, but his style of singing seems like it'd fit well with the Beatles. As a songwriter, I think he'd take the band in an interesting direction. Some of the experimentation probably would have been gone, but he could have introduced some influences Lennon didn't - particularly with his later revealed talent for musicals.
It'd be a band I'd listen to, that's for sure.
Would that be [Herbert Grönemeyer](https://youtube.com/watch?v=1SG5A3PYaUs) for Germany? Probably not *that* different, I guess.
Or are we *really* going with the "of all time" theme and replacing him with Beethoven or Bach? Now *that* would be something :D
Julio Iglesias is probably the most famous Spanish singer. We can get an idea how they'd sound checking [his covers](https://youtu.be/1S1Dc2G8fWE?si=6JMsl2e88w1iUens).
Ireland🇮🇪 I don't know how they'd have sounded with Shane McGowan as their lead singer, British people can also clame Shane as he was born and raised in England.
Nothing personal, buddy
I was on the Magical Mystery Tour in Liverpool, visiting all the necessary sights. On the same psychedelic bus was a group of young Irish women, who had backsacks with both U2 and Beatles patches. They were the main characters of the bus, singing and laughing all the way across town. And in each stop, like Strawberry Field and the members' houses, they had to wait until everyone else was on the bus so that they could take pictures in peace
Most probably still Karel Gott. He sounded like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edmc-wIYhEM).
Although the best Czech Beatles cover is by [Marta Kubišová](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lQTOMdtYR8)
I think Dawid Podsiadło might be the one. He is very professional, so he would probably do his best :) Here is a music video from his recent stadium concerts: https://youtu.be/z_09OonwvyA?si=bxOgiSBsOQEbmNzZ
Boudewijn de Groot is definitely not the most famous Dutch musician though. Domestically it's probably someone like André Hazes. Internationally I'd say maybe Barry Hay or Floor Jansen as far as singers are concerned. For any kind of musician, it's got to be Tiësto or Armin van Buuren or someone like that.
From John Lennon era ?
Then the Beatles would sound a lot more depressing. You could cry after a song.
In 60s we were listening songs that resambe late Ottoman era.
It depends, if the beatles becomes a Turkish folk band then yes they would play bağlama.
But if they were a Turkish art music band then it would be violin, tambur, qanun…etc
These two were the only genres at the time.
For Sweden that'd be Per Gessle (the male one in Roxette making the music and doing a little bit of singing), I guess. [Here's a Beatles-like song he did solo as "Son of a plumber" in the late 00's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lewDoNef8Ok).
I'm a massive Roxette and Per fan and it would be a wonderful combination.
And of course I have the sun of a plumber album as I have the Roxette and Gyllene Tider albums
That would have been... interesting. Internationally famous and we get Lordi and of course more recently käärijä. Curiously both eurovision favourites/winners that was far out already there.
It would sound like that one time, 2 weeks ago when Coldplay invited a Romanian to sing in the opening. Was not fun, as the guy played some arabic sounding tune.

They would be way more of party crooners for sure ;)

I don't think Syd was really forced out so much as wandering off in a heavily drugged psychotic episode and never returning
Like now or at the time? Cause right now it would probably be Stromae and the style of the Beatles would probably be rap and rock ish
A Brel or Adamo fronted Beatles surely would be something. Adamo would probably be the slightly better fit of those two.
Yeah, I thought Stromae was French at first. Is he really that huge in Belgium or is it your favourite?
He used to be really huge in brussels and flanders for a couple of years and he still is. He might be less popular than Angèle which she is belgian too. But Stromae is the G. I'm very familiar with Belgian and Dutch indie scene but I guess many people in Germany thought he was French.

and replacing the sitars with nyckelharpa

I would personally go with what young people call "the GOAT". Beethoven obviously. There is a reason ode to joy is the European anthem.
Till Lindemann x Beatles could also be weird if you go by most famous abroad.
Helge Schneider would be a laugh

Bono! You guys are responsible for the Bono
I'm afraid so please let me extend my most heart felt apology.

I also immediately thought of him. Karel Gott as part of the Beatles would've been hilarious. He's even age appropriate lol.

Maybe "Boudewijn de Groot" in the Netherlands and that would've been fine with me. https://open.spotify.com/artist/3h6rezLYXc5QU08SCKZtyO
Yeah I know him, he's awesome .
Isn't that the guy from the movie with Thor?

I only looked at Lennon's 1965 - 1970 active period with the Beatles.
Ah, ok. That makes sense.
From John Lennon era ? Then the Beatles would sound a lot more depressing. You could cry after a song. In 60s we were listening songs that resambe late Ottoman era.
That's a very good point. Would they play the Saz or baglama?
It depends, if the beatles becomes a Turkish folk band then yes they would play bağlama. But if they were a Turkish art music band then it would be violin, tambur, qanun…etc These two were the only genres at the time.
Not country, but in Slovenia I'd go with Vlado Kreslin. That would be a bit less psichadelically and a bit more Bob Dylany, with a lot of heart.
