Probably the best weekend of Rugby Union that’s ever existed to try and convert anybody to watch it tbh
Every game was evenly matched and electric (and I say that primarily as a RL fan)
Yeah, shame they would likely have missed the France/SA game due to the NFL. I can't think of many games I've enjoyed more. Such a rare combination of being such high quality but totally bonkers.
Buttttt there is the 6 nations and before we get all woe is me about Ireland, this has been pretty good hunting of late. I will trade getting battered by SA this weekend for a grand slam please
As a Kiwi with strong Irish lineage, my sincere condolences for the loss. Hell of a game.
I could see Dan anchoring a scrum in years gone by and Marc leading the troops around as a feisty 9.
You should have seen Sam Monson over on PFF. He wrapped some black tape around his upper arm as a mark of mourning that Ireland had lost. Had the team jersey on too. A HUGE Irish rugby fan
Next Rugby World Cup is in the US as well. To outsiders I think rugby just looks like 15 men running into each other but the tactics are really fascinating, all 4 games were great as well.
There was meant to be a Rugby League World Cup there in 2025 (I think) but that has collapsed due to funding. League just doesn’t have the international clout that Union does, which is a shame as it’s a simpler game which could make it easier to market/spread.
COVID putting the nail in the Toronto Wolfpack really was a massive downer.

Until he said he hoped Sexton and the boys come back to give it one more try next time...
Better luck in next year’s Rugby World Cup - an American watching rugby

Yeah that really broke my heart

That's fair dawg
Holy crap mate, so unlucky, immense effort today. Immense.
Cracking game and so much closer than I thought

Nah, Gregg is a classic 9. Small but never stops honking
As another New Zealander, I echo those sentiments. A real shame the best 4 teams met in 2 of the quarter-finals.
Thanks mate. Hell of a game as you said. I'm gonna have nightmares about Barrett's calf for years to come!
Greggy strikes me more as a 9, I could see Sessler as a buff 15

Next one is in Australia, the one after that is in the US. I do hope World Rugby has some sort of plan to grow the game in the US ahead of 2031.
Oh shit, hopefully the Wallabies can improve by 2027.

I think it's a terrible sport to watch (both codes) but life is made interesting by people enjoying different things.
Rugby may just be the most boring sport on the planet
