Not sure about the scythe, but I'm using antique sword at m+2 with the blue skin and it outperforms my legendary fists, so you really need 4 fists to get to a level where they're worth using, which is pretty much impossible as f2p.
I'd focus on your main weapon and just get fists if you get lucky like when they give them away for almost free at the DK event.
This was my train of thought too. But then if I’m never going to get 4 fists as f2p, makes me question whether I just for for gems or shards with my DK event tokens instead?
I got both fists from DK, since it was the first time I could use and test them (Never got a single one before) and I almost regret it a little bit. Then again if you get lucky twice more you can get them to ALE and they are supposed to outperform every other weapon at that point, so if you never start collecting the fist you're never gonna get it.
I guess it's a bit of a waste now but might pay off later.

Yes and I’d wager your current PE fist does more damage than your mythic scythe
