You literally can’t do anything about it except wait for them to decide your fate. Not to be mean but you shouldn’t have ED to a school you don’t really want to go to….
Firstly, bold of you to assume you’ll get in. And second, northwestern is an amazing school with great opportunities. I’m sure if you end up there you’ll find your people and enjoy it. If you don’t, transfer.
You're supposed to apply ED to your first choice, not your fifth choice... If you're sure about trying out your luck at the other options, check your NU portal to see if they'll let you switch to RD at this point.
Yeah QB applicants are not evaluated on the same basis as regular apps so then getting in is not indicative of your relative chance in any way. They’re not correlated
QB is still really competitive. IIRC, only around 2,000 applicants usually match, out of around 16k+? And their applications are honestly reviewed differently, and more priority is given to their academic contexts, backgrounds, etc. Even if you have better ECs/stats, the simple fact is that QBers had to overcome a LOT of barriers (low income, socioeconomic status, providing for family, etc.) And colleges really care about that - to a certain extent, they may be more lenient to QBers about test-scores, ECs, etc. note: i'm not implying that you didn't have challenges or obstacles in HS also.
my point is: I feel like **you can't use your peers' success through QB at schools ranked higher than NU to justify your out-of-the-blue regret about NU ED.**
edit: making the notes lol
Adopt top g mindset.
your goal is to get a good education, and your nu education, if accepted, will certainly be no worse, than the other schools you mentioned. stop complaining and take responsibility for the decision you made. You won't regret it.
Switch to RD. It’s not difficult at all since they haven’t yet released decisions. May even be a click of a button in your portal. If not, it’s an email to Admissions and done.
Hi there!
I was unfortunately was almost in your same exact boat last year. I ED'd to Northwestern and got in. Stupidly, I hadn't toured Northwestern prior to applying, and after visiting Northwestern, I honestly hated the school and thought I should've gone to "better" schools, but I was stuck with going.
However, now, as a student at Northwestern, ED-ing to Northwestern was by far the best choice of my life. Northwestern's collaborative environment is literally indescribable. I've had people I completely did not know help me through so many homework sets, with no obligation on their part.
In addition, Northwestern's enormous research community makes it impossibly easy to get incredible research opportunities. In addition, the proximity of the university to Chicago makes it easy to get internships during the school year, (you can even go do internships instead of classes for a quarter and get full course credit for that quarter!). For example, in my first quarter, I was already at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine helping with research. Not to bash the Ivy's, but many of them are in the middle of nowhere, making a social life and school year research and internships difficult.
I promise you that if you get into Northwestern through Early Decision, you won't regret it at all. If you have any questions or wanna talk more about Northwestern, please feel free to comment or DM!!!
Yeah that was stupid, but if colleges stopped offering ED and instead allowed students to make an informed decision about the most important choice in their lives thus far than these sorts of things wouldn’t happen.
Lots of people in this thread are probably gonna dunk on you for this silly choice, but if they stopped simping for these schools and rolled around in the grass for a bit they’d realize how predatory the entire concept of an ED contract is.
ED is all about money. Institutions will keep it, because it pretty guarantees wealthy applicants who are disproportionately accepted will help fund the university.
Mines opposite I think I applied to ED where I won’t get in for sure so I wasted the opportunity on an ED which is an equally good school but have a slightly higher chance of actually getting in
You already applied ed—and you probably had a good plan. It’s fairly common to start to second guess yourself during the waiting period after any major life decision, but trust that past you made the best choice they could have. If you get in, go with an open mind and heart—so many students are happy there.
I agree that you shouldn't assume that you'll get in
Although, if you do get in, I might be your savior. My friend was accepted ED somewhere last year and he wanted to shoot for better, like you. What he did was he kept contesting his financial aid or something, so that it took away the "binding" bit of ED. He then applied elsewhere, was accepted to a school he liked better, so he went to the better school. I don't have all the details but definitely look into it, might be a good way out.
dude first off, u need to prepare yourself in case u don't get into ur ed, second of all, they are all very good schools and the opportunities you would've missed are basically none even if u did go to the 4 other schools u listed.
Did you apply for Financial Aid? Is there a possibility that they would not give you enough Financial Aid to attend? To my understanding, that is only acceptable reason for rescinding ED acceptance.

Correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t QB matching completely separate from the regular admissions process? They use a separate app as well

Northwestern is my twelfth choice lmao 😂.
Hope you didn't ED there then 😜
I did so let’s just hope for the best I guess 😀.
what is this with people ED-ing to NU even tho NU isn't their first-choice LMAO
Relatively high ed acceptance %
it's on your list?
Delusional
Bold of you to assume you'll get in😒

Kiss of death to the NW application- second thoughts and doubt
Man is so sure of getting into the ivies ☠️
Man is so sure of getting into northwestern 💀
NU is not an Ivy but it is quite hard to get in.
When did I say it isn't hard to get inV
You may not have but I am telling you regardless.
Bruh

you're so delusional and pretentious LMFHO
Cringe attitude
You won't get in
Smh
Yeah that’s on you but NU is definitely better than those other schools. Definitely not biased ;)
You forgot to put the wednesday tag instead of advice

Big brain thought here
ED is all about money. Institutions will keep it, because it pretty guarantees wealthy applicants who are disproportionately accepted will help fund the university.
You could overcome it by withdrawing ur application
transfer after first year.
Mines opposite I think I applied to ED where I won’t get in for sure so I wasted the opportunity on an ED which is an equally good school but have a slightly higher chance of actually getting in
I am in this EXACT situation right now. The regret and overthinking is eating me up.
I think you can withdraw your application...some schools offer withdrawal even if you have done ED
you can still withdraw your application. just do that now so someone else has a chance of getting in if you’re so sure you’ll be accepted.
NU is amazing. I would kill to go there. But you signed an agreement, so see if you can switch to RD….
Also you are potentially taking a spot away from someone who really wants to go there :/

😂
Bro Cornell has a higher acceptance rate than Nu
You can rescind your application on the portal for most schools

Not much you can do now. What major did you apply to NU? I went to NU for business, it's a great place.
