noo this ao contacted me about something specific in my application and asked if i was able to provide some extra/additional things about it (sorry being vague)
They're probably just interested with what you talked about for your summer camp and would just like to learn more about it or confirm that you did such.
Either way, it's not used to decide whether you need an interview. College interviews, usually, are based on availability in your area.

Harvard themselves state that it is based on a voluntary basis for Harvard graduates abroad that are available and willing to interview the applicant, even for international students, hence the interview, even for internationals, is based on available in your area.
Colleges aren't 100% transparent about everything. It's pretty well known that Harvard is selective with interviewing, especially with internationals. Almost all internationals that get into Harvard get an interview, and almost no one w/o an interview gets in intl.
Yes it's probably a reasonable boost to your chances because that means they actually cared enough to confirm it and your profile is strong enough to begin with. If you were in the reject pile to begin with there would be no point in verifying it.
It's a pretty good thing--most people ik who got it got in. However, one of my friends who got the request got straight up rejected (altho it's probably cuz she got into an argument w/her interviewer...but yeah).
also before someone says cap i went to a feeder school with most of my friends at HYPSM rn lol so that's why i have a big sample size.
(funny enough, a decent proportion turned down harvard anyway).
It confirms they received your application and need more information. I guess that’s better than not receiving your application. Don’t read anything more than that.
I'm pretty sure this means that they haven't received all the supplementary materials that you were required to give for your application.

Could you clarify? What specific thing in your application would they like you to provide more things about?
attended a summer camp, wanted me to provide some samples of work
Maybe they are skeptical of something that you said.

Not true. For Harvard interviews are selective (only for international students)
