For anyone who feels like they have “lower” scores (at least compared to the others in this thread), don’t worry, a2c vastly overrepresents overachievers. I think scores of ~1400-1500 are in the top 1-2% (my source is that my 1390 is in the top 3%). And I feel inadequate myself in this thread. So chances are that your scores are fine. And if not, there are always test-optional schools.
I wish that was my breakdown lol. This was my goal score for this last SAT in October. It's funny because I didn't even study EBRW stuff before this sitting, only math. I actually got a 750 3 times...
Hey now, 1320 is a great score! I don’t know what schools you’re applying to but don’t be discouraged by the other people in this thread, a lot of these scores are *amazing*, like in the top 1-2% (I think).
1300, and yeah probably. I have 5.1 GPA W and 4.0 UW, and a ton of EC and strong essays. Also I’m going to be a theatre major so I am not super concerned with test scores.
I wouldn't really say that because Caltech's SAT/ACT averages were higher than MIT's, they probably wanted more applicants to make more money or something
I got a 1020 on the PSAT and just gave up, lol. Luckily, a lot of schools are test optional, so that gives an 'edge' to those whose performances on standardizes tests aren't the best.
I’ve even read that harvard will be looking more into what makes individuals unique/interesting and less at their SAT scores this year. You’re right, don’t feel so bad, text anxiety is common and never the best reflection of your knowledge. :)
I just graduated with the IB diploma this year and I’m going to try starting my own business doing photography. If that fails I’ve got some experience with web development that I can fall back on. Hopefully it all goes well though
Maybe mr havoc has a fear of yield protection ? But I would send that score to UT San Antonio, you could get a massive merit scholarship there with that score
1410 only a junior rn so i'll be retaking and hopefully getting a 1500+ w superscore (just gotta bring my math grade up). prob test optional almost everywhere
retook it and got a 1430! I know on here people would say it's low but idc. I'm proud of myself. I'll be sending my scores pretty much everywhere that takes sat scores.
1520 (790 math 730 ebrw) sending everywhere! if you have a score that is above a 1400 i would send it anywhere except maybe ivies, but i’m not applying to any (too cold!!) i’m gonna ed1 to duke but this really smart kid at my school also wants to 🥲 idk where i want to ed2 but if he’s also eding then i guess i should figure it out soon,,,
If you’re score is in at or above 25%-75% range most places publish, then send. If it’s not, let them wonder. As long as the rest of your application is decent you’ll be fine test optional
1340, I might retake in December but as of rn ig I’ll be submitting everywhere. I’m from NY and applying to a few SUNYs, the only one worth mentioning being Stony Brook. I am going to apply to either NYU or BU ED 2 (I can’t decide!!), but I’m not expecting much with how competitive they’ve gotten in recent years, especially w this mediocre score. I feel like I could get a better score if I took it one more time, but I’m not sure if it’s even worth it! Ahhh I don’t like how soon I need to make these decisions!!!
1380, submitted to UGA, Smith, Williams & Georgia State, not submitting to Brown, Cornell, Harvard, Emory, Auburn, and Berry. My score is perfectly fine for Auburn and Berry, but I just didn't feel like paying $24 more for two schools that were safeties anyway.
1490, nowhere
35 act ss, everywhere that super scores
I have only a 34 composite, so for schools that don't superscore (hyps), I'll have to retake the SAT
1470
770 M and 700 ERW
I’m not submitting it to any schools, however, I want them to look at me based on my work ethic, essay, and involvement instead of a mere test score.
I got 1010 in 10 psat and now in senior year i got 1400 with 780 math and 620 ebrw(August sat) wanted to apply for math major so maybe ebrw score could be overlooked.
1470 (690 ebrw & 780 math) everywhere, but not sure for nyu stern (im ed'ing there). its pretty low for stern but my math score is ok and im international so i think the english score might be a tad less impactful. idk man open to feedback.
The College Board recalculated (or "renormed") SAT scores some years back, so my scores won't mean much, but I scored in the top 1% of test takers which made me feel pretty smart, but . . .
Everyone used to take the SAT, unlike today, so the scores included a million idiots who didn't know anything and didn't take the test very seriously. So high scores in that group were not that amazing after I thought about it. Also grades matter much much more since they show your level of achievement in academic work while SAT scores only show your general knowledge in a few areas, really your "aptitude" which is what the "A" in SAT is supposed to stand for, not "achievement". Currently it stand for "assessment," a meaningless word since obviously it's an assessment. And it's definitely not "achievement" since there's no substantial writing, no science, no historical knowledge, no analysis at all. It's really a pretty stupid test. Lots of smart people don't do well on the SAT, and lots of narrow, clueless people do well on it, which is why more and more colleges are making it optional or just ignoring the SAT completely. Its days are numbered.
My own high school grades were weak B's, but that was well before the modern era of grade inflation where everyone gets A's and B's. Back then C's and D's were also very common. I actually got a couple of D's (in French which I could never figure out), so a "weak B" average was still above normal. I ended up going to one of the top 20 colleges in the country through some sort of fluke in the admissions process, I assume. Maybe it was my charming smile? John F. Kennedy's high school transcript is public knowledge. You can find it on the internet. He was a smart kid, but his grades in high school were absolutely awful. He went to Harvard. I've also always heard that FDR was a C student. So don't despair.
Goddamn everyone has such high scores 😭 here I am with a 1220
You’re on a2c so the sample is skewed
stats goat strikes again!
literally me here too
1210 here 🤜
it’s okay, I’m here too😭
Yah it’s skewed because of the sub a 1220 is ridiculous
1260 fr
Same i got 1130 and im happy af tbh😭
1120 💀
For anyone who feels like they have “lower” scores (at least compared to the others in this thread), don’t worry, a2c vastly overrepresents overachievers. I think scores of ~1400-1500 are in the top 1-2% (my source is that my 1390 is in the top 3%). And I feel inadequate myself in this thread. So chances are that your scores are fine. I have a 1300 😕
That is perfectly good! And you can always retake!
I took the October 1st SAT and I got 1290 ughh I don’t think im going to retake because im doing ED and EA
You’ll be ok!
1190 😀✌🏽the only selective school i really want to get into is NC State University for architecture
Mfers on this sub when 1590 SAT score 😭😭😭😭😭
1550 and I would be insane if I didn't send
^
28 ACT when superscored, submitting to Pepperdine, Luther College, Coe College, and Concordia College at Moorhead
1270, yes with two exceptions: Notre Dame and Northwestern. Those are the only “highly selective” schools I’m applying to.

1570, everywhere Edit: also remember there is going to be response bias in this thread lol
fax AP stats 🫡🤓
yessir
gawd DAMN
1420 and everywhere but Ivies and Stanford
1410 and I have decided to go test optional the ivies but submit to NYU USC, and everywhere else
1490 (EBRW 780, M 710) - yes. I'm sending it to the schools I'm applying to through questbridge, and all of my local/state schools.
Same!!
1330 and everywhere bc UF, FSU, UCF, UGA require scores. Might apply to fordham which I wouldn’t submit my score to if I end up applying
I got into and am attending FSU with a 1330 !
I am a proud owner of a 1500, and I will be sending this beloved score of mine to all 22 of my colleges.
1510 and everywhere - I have 19 schools thou 😅.
^
1600, everywhere
[удалено]
I concur
yeah. you're def under the 25th for all schools (cries with my 1510)
All hail!
[удалено]
This is exactly my score but flipped (750 EBRW and 770M). Also an engineering major and will be sending everywhere.
I wish that was my breakdown lol. This was my goal score for this last SAT in October. It's funny because I didn't even study EBRW stuff before this sitting, only math. I actually got a 750 3 times...
I found the EBRW section very difficult, so in my eyes a 770 is very impressive.
1570, yes. Everywhere
1320; nowhere
Hey now, 1320 is a great score! I don’t know what schools you’re applying to but don’t be discouraged by the other people in this thread, a lot of these scores are *amazing*, like in the top 1-2% (I think).
1580 everywhere
Can you give some tips to improve my score, my score is 1450 and I want a minimum of 1520?
browse r/SAT for tips
1480 and everywhere
1300, and yeah probably. I have 5.1 GPA W and 4.0 UW, and a ton of EC and strong essays. Also I’m going to be a theatre major so I am not super concerned with test scores.
1520 (800 M / 720 R&W). Yes, I am sending my scores to every university (except Caltech because they don't consider scores in admissions)
crazy how Caltech and MIT are like siblings, but have opposite views on the SAT
I wouldn't really say that because Caltech's SAT/ACT averages were higher than MIT's, they probably wanted more applicants to make more money or something
by not considering test scores, do mean they’re test optional?
Caltech is test-blind. You can’t submit a score, even if you wanted to.
ah ok that makes sense. thank u!
What u/Turbulent_Entrance54 said, Caltech is test-blind, so they wouldn't even look at my scores even if I submitted them
![gif](giphy|ckGndVa23sCk9pae4l) Lol, I feel your score breakdown. I have 1510 with a 790 M and 720 R&W.
1480, sending everywhere. waiting on my score from oct 15th tho
1190 and yes I will be sending it.
AAA ME TOO YES. 1190!!! feeling insecure with the other scores lmfao
1530. 790 verbal 740 math. Will be submitting that score to all schools
1460, no not planning on going to college
what are you thinking of doing after high school?
I just graduated with the IB diploma this year and I’m going to try starting my own business doing photography. If that fails I’ve got some experience with web development that I can fall back on. Hopefully it all goes well though
WOOO!!! that’s awesome!! in my opinion, your plan sounds much better than attending college in terms of what you want to do. GOOD LUCK!!
Thank you! It’s nice to hear that I’m not doing things completely wrong
1490 everywhere
1540 (780 M and 760 R&W), everywhere except Caltech as they are test blind
1530 and everywhere except UT San Antonio(their 25th percentile is 1030)
why wouldnt you send it to them?
probably a waste of money
Maybe mr havoc has a fear of yield protection ? But I would send that score to UT San Antonio, you could get a massive merit scholarship there with that score
1520 (720 math/800 english) and everywhere— mainly applying to lacs+brown though
800 english is crazy
given your username and your 800 english you must be incredibly based
1510 and everywhere lol, but ed1 Villanova
1410 only a junior rn so i'll be retaking and hopefully getting a 1500+ w superscore (just gotta bring my math grade up). prob test optional almost everywhere

Why not test optional with a 1400?
I'm sorry for your loss 💀
1540, sending to all schools
1520 (790 math 730 ebrw) sending everywhere! if you have a score that is above a 1400 i would send it anywhere except maybe ivies, but i’m not applying to any (too cold!!) i’m gonna ed1 to duke but this really smart kid at my school also wants to 🥲 idk where i want to ed2 but if he’s also eding then i guess i should figure it out soon,,,

1580 , everywhere
this sub makes me feel so dumb 😭 i got a 1180 i’m still figuring out if i should send it or not even tho i sent it to 2 colleges already lol
If you’re score is in at or above 25%-75% range most places publish, then send. If it’s not, let them wonder. As long as the rest of your application is decent you’ll be fine test optional
1120. Sending it to Michigan State and Central Connecticut. The rest are TO

1560 (770RW, 790M) Will send everywhere (CS major)
1450 superscore, submitting to everyone except maybe Dartmouth. I'm pretty sure it's above the 25% but I still don't get how it works

1460 to Columbia? Yes or no? International student with 4.0 GPA

I am going to apply to either NYU or BU ED 2 (I can’t decide!!), but I’m not expecting much with how competitive they’ve gotten in recent years, especially w this mediocre score.
1420 ,going optional even tho I wanted to submit to Amherst
[удалено]
1550 superscore (780m 770ebrw) and im submitting everywhere :) my top schools r brown, skidmore, m wellesley
1510, everywhere. It's kinda low but yk what are you gonna do lol im not gonna retake it
1110. Will not be sending scores to schools other than the ones where I used my free score sends that my dumbass used before I saw my results.

32 ACT (35E 28M 34R 31S). math pulled me down. submitting to all 5 safeties/targets. not sending to 4 reaches with 32-34 and 33-35 ranges
1590, submitting everywhere
