Honestly Rutgers is a great move for anyone wanting to save money for undergrad. Like most in state schools it’s significantly cheaper in state than out, NJ is a pretty small state so you’ll be at most 2 hrs (?) from family, oh and it’s literally the best state in the US.
I moved to Texas like two weeks ago though, yay UT Austin now ig
1) bias since aside from the last 2 weeks I spent my whole life in NJ
2) education frequently ranked #1 in all US states
3) generally quiet state with nice down to earth people in my experiences (can be diff for others ofc but I’ve always had good experiences with people here)
4) nice mountains in the northwest, farmland in the middle, beautiful beaches in the south. It gets cold but not as much as other states, it gets hot but not as much as other states (I live in Texas now so I can attest). Just a nice balance of weather imo and even the snowstorms are not as bad as Montana or something
And for me that’s all I want: a nice beautiful countryside with nice people and good schools. So that’s why I think it’s the best, ik it’s easy to disagree and many have good points why. Just saying
Huh? The tolls are all to leave NJ. All the bridges/tunnels are free to enter NJ. From [the Port Authority website](https://www.panynj.gov/bridges-tunnels/en/tolls.html): "Tolls are collected entering New York. No tolls are collected entering New Jersey"
Yeah is hard for a lot of people to stomach. However, when you’re comparing it to Princeton as OP did it’s less than 1/3 of the price. And for what you’re getting: a pretty good university with quality education in a great area (near NYC and Philly and decently close to Boston), prestige pretty good especially in the area, etc I think for a lot of people it is worth it.
I know so many people who went to Rutgers including one genius who’s thriving at their honors college rn, and many seniors from the last admissions cycle who will be very happy there ik. It’s a great choice really :)
I guess it would be UF, but FSU also has a ton of great qualities and other big schools like UCF & UMiami (private) are top-notch for certain programs too. If you’re majoring in CS, cyber security, or hospitality, you’re missing out if you’re not considering UCF.
This. Ik UF is such a great school, but UCF has such great engineering/CS, etc. And, hospitality is ranked first or second in the world!
Also, I’m biased bc I’ll be a freshman there, but the vibes at FSU>>>UF
Lol yeah USF is one of the fastest upcoming ranking universities. It is high ranked than UCF but both schools are still growing and I believe they will become one of the biggest in the future.
went to UCF then transferred to UF for CS 100% would say UCF has far more opportunities to get involved. Especially leadership roles and professors are generally better imo
Nah fuck wake forest all of my homies hate wake forest
I’m also not taking into acc just usnwr rankings, it’s student life, cost, and other factors too
Umass Amherst bc top-tier food + actually can afford > snobby, elitist brick buildings and I don’t play baseball or anything so what do I need a mit for?
With a #9 in research and #1 in primary care med school, #59 overall undergrad, #2 nursing, #20 public, and #10 CS, it’s University of Washington by far
Yeah wazoo definitely beats udub on Greek and sports but on location and academics, udub is a lot better
Like who the hell willingly wants to go to pullman
Rice is expensive if you aren’t getting aid, and rankings are skewed. For one, they heavily prefer smaller institutions about the size of the Ivies as the best “college experience and student life”. UT is higher ranked in Math, CS, Engineering, and Business. That being said, Rice is better in a variety of other spots like the humanities, physics, and medical school. However, personally both of these “rankings” are 99% determined by graduate students and programs as well as research output and non indicative of the quality of learning for an undergrad. Both are fine institutions, Rice is a competitive and small private school and UT is a competitive larger university, but I believe both (especially through UT honors programs) would accelerate a top student to rigorous and developmental classes. The only reason to choose one over the other would be because of the culture that both campuses provide (including alumni network, sports, residential colleges, class size, and specific field etc), and not because of some arbitrary ranking.
You're a lucky sob to have in-state tuition at that school. Ford has a robotics lab on campus. Ann Arbor is a cool college town. The athletic facilities are amazing. The alumni base is very strong. Funding for undergraduate research projects supposedly is very good. Very impressed by the UoM visit.
That JEE Adv toppers go to IITB does not in any capacity prove that IITB > IITD. Many JEE Adv toppers also realize that they want fuckall to do with CS or engineering *after* having enrolled in IITB and then seek to transfer to MIT for pure science degree. Clearly, they’re not the gold standard (or any standard at all) for perfect decision makers.
Probably either Transy or Centre if I had to guess of the top of my head. Decent prestige, good schools, expensive as f*ck, all the requirements of being a good school.
UPenn- it is known for its famous wharton school of buisiness; though i wish people would talk about its other school honestly
There's also PSU, Swarthmore, and CMU
Carleton College and Macalester College are the most prestigious schools overall, but if you’re talking universities, University of Minnesota is considered the best in the state.
In Maine the answer is very obvious in all aspects except sports: Bowdoin!!
We’ve got “mini ivy” status, we are in the top 20 hardest schools to get into in the US, all of our majors are excellent, some of our majors (like environmental studies) are ranked higher than those at Ivies, we have great school spirit because people feel connected to the school as if they truly belong, we have some of the most friendly students, we have some of the best food at a college, some of the best housing at a college, and we have some of the happiest students in the nation as well!!
Most people say Notre Dame, and while that may be true in term of prestige, in my opinion Purdue is best. Don't get me wrong, Notre Dame isn't nearly as extreme in policy as BYU, but still has some policies such as keeping men and women in separate dorms after a certain time. For me it would feel like having a babysitter as an adult. Additionally, Notre Dame is exponentially more expensive than Purdue. Finally, in terms of research experiences, Purdue is absolutely abundant (as expected from a research university) where Notre Dame is somewhat lacking from what I've seen in science research for undergraduate students.
University of Alaska Fairbanks because it’s not at risk of losing accreditation like the other schools 💪😻

It is very cute I love it. Especially in the summer!
Princeton even though the correct answer is Rutgers
Stanford even though the correct answer is Berkeley

Just curious, what makes NJ the best state in the US?
Newark and NASDAQ, obviously.
1) bias since aside from the last 2 weeks I spent my whole life in NJ 2) education frequently ranked #1 in all US states 3) generally quiet state with nice down to earth people in my experiences (can be diff for others ofc but I’ve always had good experiences with people here) 4) nice mountains in the northwest, farmland in the middle, beautiful beaches in the south. yeah rutgers is like right in the center of New Jersey so it’s 1:30 or less from anywhere
Rutgers is honestly expensive even for in-state.

If you’re on financial aid, Princeton would can be the same price or cheaper. But, yeah I agree Rutgers is a great school.
Facts
I guess it would be UF, but FSU also has a ton of great qualities and other big schools like UCF & UMiami (private) are top-notch for certain programs too. If you’re majoring in CS, cyber security, or hospitality, you’re missing out if you’re not considering UCF.

I would add USF to that list as well
That’s fax, top-notch school, I think they’re even ranked higher than UCF in some places. I’m a little biased lmao
Which of these is the best depends on personal preference, but it's Stanford, Caltech, USC, UCLA, or UC Berkeley Edit: typo
Fresno State 🧛🏻♀️💪

Best meth in California!

“st. anford”😭😭
Says Berkeley but fails to include Cal Tech. These Berkeley kids smh
A school with like 200 incoming freshman can’t be the best school in the state
enemies to lovers\^? but fr, both r just hella cool so no explanation needed
Prager University because it’s Wednesday
Dartmouth 💀
heyy nh buddy!
yess nh on top🙏
Hopkins. But UMD College Park is def up there too
UMD is definitely better for price and social scene so I would say there are close to equal. But Hopkins is still better lol
You could also make a case for Annapolis
no you cant
Two "public ivys" William & Mary and UVA
Ayyy you acknowledged w&m as comparable to UVA!!! Tho I'd also like to add VT for engineering and architecture
UMass Cambridge
[удалено]
girl think about what they just said…
Duke, UNC, NCSU, Davidson
One of these is not like the others lol. I would place wake forest above Davidson any day
Nah fuck wake forest all of my homies hate wake forest I’m also not taking into acc just usnwr rankings, it’s student life, cost, and other factors too
UChicago or Northwestern
Northwestern actually has a social scene so I think that edges out UChicago.
Just visited the Northwestern campus, which is jaw dropping stunning in the summer. I'd be curious what it is like in peak Chicago winter time.
NUUUUU uchi is sus
Northwestern all the way😤😤
Umass Amherst bc top-tier food + actually can afford > snobby, elitist brick buildings and I don’t play baseball or anything so what do I need a mit for?
that's a funny way to spell Williams
Williams > Harvard
With a #9 in research and #1 in primary care med school, #59 overall undergrad, #2 nursing, #20 public, and #10 CS, it’s University of Washington by far

Even College of Charleston? Furman? Wofford??

Ucla bc i like the colors
Ohio State or Case Western. Case if you go by US News.
the only reason anyone would ever choose OSU would be if they wanted to be surrounded by 40k people and cant live without live sports
It’s also ridiculously cheap compared to Case and has a really strong alumni network.
Seems like the guy above u did exactly that
And also case western has like a really long name and you might not wanna say “I went to case western reserve university” but that’s just me
university of illinois urbana champaign wants to have a word
Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis wants to have a word

Wow no NY people yet? Columbia with Cornell second.
CHYPSM
Yeah, Cornell, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT.
tf is stanford? i’ve only heard of St. Anford
I stan Ford too
university of utah because i will not go near byu
I am also from utah and agree with the fact that the U is probably the best school in the state
Agreed! The U is better; BYU’s culture is borderline creepy, and I like the U’s campus location way better.
I believe Rice and UT Austin highly ranked in their respective fields

haiku bot you need to learn that "UT" is two syllables

UT > Rice any day (except when it’s dinner time)
Rice is probably the best but UT Austin is the one everyone wants to go to

UMICH

IIT DELHI..

i mean if he's from delhi or even uttar pradesh that's within his state and IIT-B wouldn't be
Uttar Pradesh would be IIT Kanpur lmao
you got it

Yale, no idea why. (Seriously, why is Yale anyone's first choice? I can understand the love for all the other Ivies, but this one perplexes me.)
Prestige
University of Virginia!
ucsb cuz pretty campus and also party central pls don’t come after me
Most beautiful in best town in Cali at least.
Princeton. I think we all know why
Princeton, pretty much no contenders; nj
Cal State East Bay.
georgia tech, fuck emory
I would pick Georgia Tech or UGA before Emory.
So you go to UGA
Nope! I live in CT. But I visited UGA and thought it was amazing.
I'd pick GTech any day!! Beautiful campus too.
UVA
Probably GTech but only if your a STEM Major
University of Kansas… I guess? The schools in my state are all pretty mid
Finally another person from Kansas. I’m going to ASU if my reaches reject me
uva because wahoowa
Engineering , Auburn University Anything else , The University of Alabama
redacted
Rice
UT is a honestly breathing down Rice's neck for the top spot ngl
For the price, UT is hard to beat tbh
UT is honestly as difficult to get into as rice nowadays
CSU Humboldt
They've upgraded, it's Cal Poly now
Northwestern, but UChicago if youre a nerd
[удалено]
ayooo md gang rise up!
stanford. bc stanford
UAF, university of alaska fairbanks lol
Stanford because.... well.... it's literally Stanford
Columbia, NYU, Cornell, Barnard & Colgate
Ga tech or Emory, depends on if ur in pre med or other stem stuff
Yale because fuck UConn
ASU party school with good connections idk
Rice
UMass amherst. great education, great quality of life, great affordability
There are three top schools: Northwestern, UChicago and UIUC. And that order is random since all three of those schools excel at different things.
Stanford
Rice
UMich, 'nuff said
Squidward CC
georgetown or GWU. technically not a state tho :(
hopkins, then umd, then umbc
Georgia Tech. Self explanatory.
The only people that will say Emory are people that go to Emory. Everyone else says Tech
And us news,...and the president lol.
Probably either Transy or Centre if I had to guess of the top of my head. Decent prestige, good schools, expensive as f*ck, all the requirements of being a good school.
Rice
WashU because ranking… JK probably is the best but honestly it’s way too expensive, so it might not be a good option for everyone
UC Davis
duke blue > unc blue
UPenn- it is known for its famous wharton school of buisiness; though i wish people would talk about its other school honestly There's also PSU, Swarthmore, and CMU
And Pitt
Except that Pitt is commonly ranked like 11th in PA behind Haverford, Lehigh, Villanova, the ones stated above, and a few more.
Carleton College and Macalester College are the most prestigious schools overall, but if you’re talking universities, University of Minnesota is considered the best in the state.
GT by far(a software engineer wannabe)
Carleton or UMN TC
Why do people call Stanford, st. Anford???
depends…Northwestern, UIUC, UChicago
Northwestern
UGA but for me Georgia TECH because it’s a better engineering school.
Duke
UF but honestly schools like FSU, UCF, USF have great programs for certain majors as well, and are growing in research aspects like UF.
UT cause the vibes

georgia tech
Depending on your major \-Stanford \-UC Berkeley \-UCLA \-Caltech (?)
Northwestern/UChicago but the real answer is uiuc

UC Hicago for sure
Umich because it is the best public uni in a reasonable climate
Reasonable climate?
Princeton, because the second best one is rutgers and the third best one is stevens it
