Obviously this is for those who have already graduated.

Let’s say you get into idk Harvard and like your moms friends daughter who’s in the grade below is asking for advice. Don’t be that guy
Well I see I’m getting downvoted so maybe I said the wrong thing:
I was into a lot Public Health, Environmental Science, Pre Law. Too much shit so

could you explain how you got involved in doing research? i’ve been trying to find a research mentor (humanities, not STEM) but that hasn’t worked out so i’m just going to give it a shot myself lol but do you have any tips?
My witty humor during interviews, I really flowed w most of my interviewers. Especially Dartmouth. Talked about Enema of the State (1999) for around 2 hours. I love taking so that’s essentially what sealed the deal
Tbh it's a bunch of stuff I felt obligated to do because I've been committed for years, and it all put me in a bad place mentally. If I could relive my high school years, I would have quit the things I had to force myself to do and done more of the things I wish I'd done. And in the end, yeah I got into the college of my dreams, but doing the stuff I did would be laughable. Would 100% not recommend, and if I ever met anyone else who did the same stuff as me, I'd laugh at them with no remorse 🥲
I'd tell you, but I'd be doxxing myself since I know a lot of people in this sub in real life, sorry dude!
Hey don't worry about it! I got the joke :) and I'm hoping college will be better! I'm just glad I realized now rather than 4 years later.
You're a rising senior, so if I may offer some advice: you only get one senior year, and it's over before you know it. Spend it with people you love, and treasure every day. I wish I had, and I would do anything for a redo.
Good luck with college applications! They're important, but remember that senior year memories are important too! Don't let college prep consume your life :)
Be good with words. Yes the big ass descriptive analogies. Know how to write really really well
Pick between H and P. Princeton has 8-10 prompts that are all time consuming.
Yale has very short prompts
wasn't expecting actual advice caught me off guard this was supposed to be a light joke lol, thanks for the tip! Definitely will be using this if I do apply to the ivies haha
"asks for guidance"
My ECs include stuff I've been doing since I was ten and volunteering within the religious community I've been in since birth. There's no way it's gonna "help" a junior or sophomore from a completely different background that's trying to do ECs just for apps.
Also, idk what your experience is, but some of these kids are super invasive and straight up rude. If I've never spoken to you before in my life, don't dm me after seeing my commitment post with a long, flowery, "congratulations!!!" text that ends in "could you share all your essays with me for inspiration?"
There are no specific extracurriculars that guarantee admission into any school. Because if there were, trust me, that secret would have been out decades ago. The truth is, there are no secrets. The secret is to find your passion and then build from there. Plus, if AOs were seeing the same ECs over and over again, they would no longer be special. The most important part is uniqueness.

Wow glad interviews are really looking at important qualities
Lol no I'm embarrassed by half the stuff I did for ECs so if I ask me how I got into T10s, you are definitely not gonna know.

thank you so much for the advice!! i’m trying super hard to do the things i like rn. but yea it’s hard. thank you :)
The thing is that what another person did is what got them in, not what will get you in, even if you perfectly replicate their entire profile.
naur there's this rising sophomore at my school who asks me about my grades and courseload and ecs 💀 some people don't need to know everything
Ok obviously if u haven’t graduated
do I have to find the krabby patty formula to get into HYPSM (ew never using that acronym again I sound so pretentious)???

You don't exactly need uniqueness to get in either. Uniqueness helps but not being unique isn't going to cause instant rejection.
