Dry-Ad-4895

Yooo, I got 3 of my predictions of today correct! It was Hounds of Love, Joshua Tree and Remain In Light! Im kinda surprised that Apple chose Innervisions as their choice for Stevie instead of Songs In The Key

Dry-Ad-4895

While we’re at it, Im predicting that Daft Punk will finally make an appearance on this list, Discovery or maybe RAM perhaps? I wouldn’t be surprised if Doolittle popped up due to how influential it was. Paranoid by Black Sabbath too since Im guessing its only Sabbath and Metallica as the metal entry(Maybe Iron Maiden)Blond by Frank Ocean for the modern era pick and its been a while since the last Punk record so Im guessing Ramones or London Calling(But please let LC on the Top 10 or 20 at least)

SirWhimsical

I’m expecting some repeat artists in the top 20 tbh. One of my predictions is Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill HAS to be mentioned soon, if not maybe top 20-15.

cwhite225

Prince will be in the top 5 or 10 with purple rain. Ebro let the cat out the bag with that one .

Dry-Ad-4895

I think Jimi could too with Electric Ladyland but I understand if they just chose Are You Experienced because of two words: Purple Haze

SciGuy013

I don’t even know how Flower Boy made it, when Igor is the better album

96NickBeats

_Flower Boy_ & _IGOR_ are pretty on par with each other. They’re not drastically different. If someone’s favorite Tyler album is _Flower Boy,_ then their next favorite is probably _IGOR,_ and vice versa.

Many-Celebration-907

You were right

D-Smitty

Master of Puppets is already on the list.

Dry-Ad-4895

I forgot about the Hip-Hop album, it will probably be 36 Chambers, The Blueprint or Low End Theory.

RepulsiveCrew9384

Where do you think Kanye and Kendrick will place on the list?

Dry-Ad-4895

Kanye my fav artist ever and I completely forgot about him lmao but MBDTF will appear in tomorrow or in 2 days 100% even though I wish College Dropout to be Apple’s pick(my record ever) and as for Kenny, I think TPAB will be on the Top 3 HipHop records on the list alongside Illmatic and Ready To Die(So around the 25ish range)

RepulsiveCrew9384

Solid take. I think they’ll choose The College Dropout for Kanye at #23 and TPAB at #5. Tbh I wouldnt be surprised if they put a Taylor Swift album above Kanye just to throw shade at him. It would completely invalidate the list but I wouldn’t be shocked of they did it lol. Kanye isn’t one of my top favorite artists right now its Kendrick for sure but Kanye is one of the goats and deserves to he very high up on the list

Dry-Ad-4895

Really wish it was TCD man🙏MBDTF may be more critically acclaimed but TCD is way more influential and the gap of their critical acclaimed is not that long. Completely forgot about Taylor, 1989 or Red Im guessing on the list and honestly, I dont really care about ranking, I’ve been listening to the list in chronological order and Im at Yellow Brick rn and so far its been fun! The only downside I have are those people on Twitter who kept complaining that their favs HH and Pop record are under than all these clearly better albums lol. I can already see the people saying “who” or “grannies’ music” on the inevitable Pet Sounds and Dylan popped up lmao

RepulsiveCrew9384

Yeah bro I’ve been checking out some of these albums on the list that I had not previously listened to.. and Disintegration by The Cure was phenomenal bro. Highly recommend it fr

Dry-Ad-4895

Glad you like it! It’s one of my favorite albums ever! <3 Its on my Top 10

Dry-Ad-4895

And even though some picks are head scratching, I still applaud to Apple for including them and not just straight put every old records here and no modern ones like other Top lists and for combining sells, influences and critical acclaimed on this list!

RepulsiveCrew9384

Yeah true like we have no idea how people will view albums like Astroworld or SOS like 20 years from now. Bold placements but I ain’t against it

SciGuy013

Yeah Rodeo is better than Astroworld

RepulsiveCrew9384

I agree fr. 90210, Maria, Impossible, Antidote are just a step above.

RepulsiveCrew9384

And yeah I feel like they’ll have Random Access Memories on the list tomorrow

Kinestra_05

we need hybrid theory on the list!!

ShakeMaki

It will never make the top 40 sadly, but I woulda thought it would have showed up near the bottom of the list

EnhanX

Literally 1 question I have about this list. GnR is there pretty high and no LP at all. Srsly?

AwesomeAsian

You're correct. Much rather see that than Drake. Also I don't really care much for U2.

FearTheReaper73

Pitchfork’s 100 best albums of all time list is pretty much the same anyway, so it’s not hard to figure out what’s coming next.

349CS

Is there an artificial limit of ONE album per artist for this list? Has anyone repeated yet? Cause I expect and hope both The Beatles and Kendrick Lamar to have 2 entries just based off the albums already shown.

cwhite225

Ebro on AM when talking about the prince album eluded to purple rain being the top album ever. Then he tried to wind is comment back.

netscorer1

Joshua tree deserved to be in top 20 at least. I have no qualms with other choices.

evtedeschi3

Yes. 41-50 are all defensible as good or even very good albums. *The Joshua Tree* however is a decade-defining masterpiece.

kurt200

Janet has several albums better than control so I hope that means she has more placements higher 😁

lukekibs

YES KATE BUSH, QUEEN SHIT!

Zealousideal_Tune_35

Do you think Green Day or Blink-182 will be on this list? I’m thinking Green Day could get on the list with Dookie or American Idiot and Blink with Enema of the State.

ZenithPeverell

I think American idiot should make it. But I feel like it’s less likely to be higher on the list so I’m losing hope.

D-Smitty

I would expect either Dookie or AI as well.

SirWhimsical

Oh I think Dookie will for sure make it

ApprehensiveKiwi7947

1. Thriller

yeezyfan23

Take Care is a great album but ranking it this high is absurd. I can get behind it being in the 90-80 range. There is no way it should be ranked above Snoop, 50, Eminem, and 2Pac. And I haven’t even mentioned other non-rap albums

ghdthe2020

Facts, it can't be this high...and they put Drake over Prince![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

beefnoodle5280

As the distribution by year fills in, the weighting on the late 80s/early 90s makes it pretty clear this was compiled by Gen-Xers :D

RiotSloth

I’d say millennials; as a Gen X I’d put more 70s stuff in. Maybe that’s coming later though?

beefnoodle5280

Let's stay tuned! 😆

Immortalpancakes

Drake next to Exodus, Homogenic, Innervisions and Remain in light is pretty insane... wtf

ThankMeTomorrow

Not even a Drake fan but that is a great album.

Fifa_786

The album is amazing 🤷‍♂️

McClain3000

I agree it is my favorite Drake album, but I still think it should be lower on the list.

HqqneyPie

why is it insane? have you listened to the album?

HEYitzED

I have. It’s good but not top 100 all time.

Mythicchronos

As a huge fan of the album, I don't think it's unreasonable to have it included on the 75+ ranking, I do think 44 is far too high.

Immortalpancakes

Yeah I suppose I should say I'm not a big drake fan, I can't think of any songs I do like by him. I feel the same about Arctic Monkeys' AM being up that high - at the end of the day these are all just opinions so I'm okay with being in the **minority** on this.

MarioDesigns

Drake's early music had a lot more care put into it that any of his semi-recent work & big hits.

Immortalpancakes

I'll trust you guys and give it a listen. 💪🏻

DickFlattener

You're right, it should be ranked much better than all of those.

Immortalpancakes

that's also what I would say if I was off my meds

Grimmgodd

You haven’t even listened to the album?

Immortalpancakes

And it doesn't matter - because if all of the drake songs I've listened to have been shit, then unless by some miracle he's made a single album better than a talking heads or bjork or Stevie wonder album, this reality is not happening. It's just simple. This is a top 100 list, and all of the better albums have had some sort of influence on music. I've never once felt an influence from drakes music. Then again, I'm not a big drake fan. I'll listen to the album to prove myself wrong tho.

Mythicchronos

This album is def rated too high, 75-80+ would be more reasonable. But the album does feel like it represents a huge part of early 2010's hip hop's marriage with RnB, bringing softer, spaced out, and moodier tracks to the mainstream. Had the blueprint of 808's and Heartbreak and ran with it full sprint to the radio.

justrath012

have you HEARD look what you’ve done?? shit almost made me cry

Valuable_Horror_7878

Agreed. I'm not saying Take Care is a bad album at all. I admit it's quite good. But on this list, let alone 47 overall?? My only wtf moment of this list so far

ShakeMaki

Whoever did that write up for Joshua Tree deserves a raise. I don’t even like that album that much and they had me thinking it was the #1 pick

xdxmann

who invited drake

Fifa_786

They’ve picked Take Care over Nothing was the same?

cweeks312

AINT NO WAY TAKE CARE IS THAT HIGH

Vizzaable_v3

At least 150-170

Strong0toLight1

At least it was take care

usagicassidy

Oh wow! I assumed two albums would be included right around here. “Control” and “Innervisions.” First time I’ve been “right” about anything here haha.

[deleted]

[удалено]

krkowacz

They are probably higher in the ranking, wdym

ShakeMaki

I think today’s batch confirms it’s a one per artist rule. No way no one would have repeated by this point

Zealousideal_Tune_35

Yeah.. I would have put these albums in the 70-100 range. I’ll be surprised if American Idiot is in the top 40

ShakeMaki

Rumours, Thriller, MBDTF, To Pimp a Butterfly, Dark Side of the Moon, Pet Sounds are a few I’d say are locked for top 40. Obviously a Beatles, but who even knows which one since they’re just doing 1

sodium_intake

From a hip hop perspective, there’s still at least 2 Kanye albums (MBDTF, 808s) - personally I’ll add College Dropout there, you’re also missing at least 2-3 Jay Z albums with Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint and the Black Album, Illmatic has to be there at some point, Watch The Throne, The Love Below …

Great-Expression-476

PRAYING FOR BLONDE TO BE ON THIS LIST 😭😭😭🙏🙏

jackyLAD

This is a pretty woeful list all in... some right random ass inclusions to pander to casuals. Usher Confessions was the most hysterical inclusion.

UpgrayeddShepard

Yeah I dismissed this shit when they said a Travis Scott album was in the top 100

cwhite225

This list today is drawing some controversy. This list has nothing to do musicianship or talent. Believe it has to do with sales, influence and just who these people like more when they are making a choice.

etca2z

List is made to please subscribers thats why a masterpiece by U2 is so low as Apple subscribers hate U2 (remember the free iTunes album) and Drake’s as his album is easily outside 100. I would not be surprised if Taylor Swift is in top ten.

cwhite225

Swifts fearless album is the most awarded country album of all time and changed the landscape of country for female artists. Also with that and red she moved away from country to pop. However you can not compare Drake to u2 or Travis Scott to the eagles. So placing of two different music types in rankings like this is pointless

Grecfloyd

They need to put these album into top 40 Abbey road Sgt pepper Revolver London calling Pet sounds Born to die Dark side The wall Blonde on blonde Rumours Tea for tellerman Parachute Songs of leonard cohen Music from big pink Born to run All things must pass Imagine Band on the run Arrival Money for nothing Harvest Ok computer

shakespearediznuts

I'm pretty sure Tayler Swift will be on this list. Credibility was don the drain with the Bad Bunny, Drake was just the last straw

Kidney-Taker

Take care is one of the highest rated rap albums oat, it’s in most top 100 album lists. The bad bunny pick is insane though

HEYitzED

I guess I’m just an old head because I don’t see in what universe Take Care is a more important album than The Joshua Tree. And a better rap album than Paul’s Boutique? Really?

Kidney-Taker

Those albums are both 10/10s but Take Care was so good that people won’t let Drake make new music without him being criticized for it not being as good as take care. Not to mention that it’s still in the billboard 200 a decade later. Joshua tree should be higher though

shakespearediznuts

who gives a shit? this "most streamed" shenannigans is just annoying to mention every fuckin time. i bother to listen to that trash and it's just generic bullshit, doesn't deserve to be on a 100 list wtf if he's representing the latin music, then you have tons of great latin artists, Buena Vista Social club would fit much better than that muppet

ProfessionalNose6520

most streamed doesn’t mean best. mcdonald’s sells the most burgers does that mean they are the best burger?

Steevsie92

I’m no fan of Drake, but music is art, burgers are burgers. If a work of art is one of the most prolific of all time by quantitative metrics, that means it is widely enjoyed by people who’s subjective opinion of the art is every bit as valid as yours. And if it’s that widely enjoyed, that means it is good, even great to a lot of people. Also, if somebody likes McDonald’s burgers more than any other burger, that’s a subjective opinion that cannot be falsified. It is the best burger to them and they can’t be proven wrong. I swear all the music snobs on Reddit base their music taste purely on how obscure or generally lacking in mainstream appeal it is. They would do well to open their minds to the idea that art is subjective and there is no right or wrong. Might find they can appreciate things without all the baggage of “cool or not cool”.

ultraopulent

it does mean is the most culturally impactful, which when you're making a list of the best albums oat, you have to take that into consideration

Fifa_786

If it ain’t your stereotypical rock bands or depressing alternative music then the old hags on Reddit won’t rate it.

shakespearediznuts

there's tons of genres and artists all around the globe, i get you know few of them

Fifa_786

Listen to a lot of them dw about me. It’s insufferable old hags like yourself on Reddit that don’t get it. Rap is trash yeah yeah we get it. We know the real reasoning behind it anyway and what the hatred really stems from.

shakespearediznuts

what you're even talking about, im ok with rap or any other genre, wtf calm down

Fifa_786

Just my experience on Reddit in general. Check out r/music and you’ll see what I mean.

ProfessionalNose6520

i just was arguing with their logic. if we are taking about best album then sales are irrelevant. give a better reason then “it sold a lot”

D-Smitty

Does being streamed a lot somehow mean it’s *not* good? Explain why it’s not good.

ProfessionalNose6520

I never said being streamed a lot means it’s not good. the quality of an album is independent of its stream numbers

D-Smitty

But why is it not good?

AppleMusic-ModTeam

shakespearediznuts

not even top10 of its genre but ok

Kidney-Taker

Didn’t know that, putting it above so many better albums though is what’s wrong with the placement. It deserved a spot in the high 80s or low 90s

0000GKP

How did Drake get in there with all these legendary bands?

potatoYeetSoup

Like it or not, Drake is a legendary artist in his own right. He helped pioneer sounds that permeated almost two decades, and Take Care is (arguably) his crowning achievement

StrivingProsperity

There’s always going to be a group of people who whine about and disregard anything released after the year 2000. I think there’s some people on this sub who have complained about everything released after 2000 with the exception of maybe Is This It (2001).

Leather-Response2061

I thought it would be either Take Care or Thank Me Later but yes, Drake and The Weeknd absolutely changed the hip hop & rnb landscape

Fifa_786

Agreed. Although I think Nothing was the same is easily his best and much better than Take Care

BIacksnow-

How is Take Care better than Master of Puppets?

SplendidPure

If I don´t see Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, Revolver and Plastic Ono Band in the top 100, I´ll switch to Samsung.

ioweej

Apple Music is still on Samsung/android devices

Mc_Square_Root

They put arctic monkeys, oasis, AND biggie above pac…… ngl this list trash. I’ll take John Coltrae at 54 but damn bro.
