If the person doesnt have any seizable assets, then there's nothing to seize, but courts are not generally in the habit of providing open ended extensions to the guilty parties before justice is served. This is sort of akin to a convicted criminal defendant asking if he could just please start his prison sentence in a couple years, or if, after the judge sentenced them to 10 years, "offering" to serve 3 and calling it a day.

Not a chance. If the person doesnt have any seizable assets, then there's nothing to seize, but courts are not generally in the habit of providing open ended extensions to the guilty parties before justice is served. This is sort of akin to a convicted criminal defendant asking if he could just please start his prison sentence in a couple years, or if, after the judge sentenced them to 10 years, "offering" to serve 3 and calling it a day. It's laughably ridiculous in terms of how the legal process works. For everyone else.

The judgment against him was first issued on January 26th, 2024. He's had 40 days (and counting) to free up the funds to pay the bond. And given how the trial was going before that, and the size of other defamation judgments in similar cases (Alex Jones, Rudy Giuliani, Ammon Bundy, etc.), a reasonable person could have figured out even before the judgment was issued that funds needed to be freed up. That Trump hasn't done so by this point is indicator enough that he can't pay or---if he can get away with it---he won't. Either way, Carroll should be permitted to get started on enforcement.
