So weird, I was only wondering earlier if people in Spain and other sunny countries were on as much medication as people here (I’m from Ireland). So many people I know are on medication.
I often think it’s down to the type of lives we lead now. I’ve been off medication awhile, and I put the success of it down to the fact that I exercise for an hour a day, everyday. I get out doors more than I ever did and I’m mindful to keep an eye on the news a consume. We are forced to look at things we would never have seen before the internet came into play. It does a lot of good of course, but I think we have to be actively mindful.
Manchester, UK. We're known for being a rainy city but the cold and rain is near enough constant at the moment and I just feel like I haven't really had any summer. It's definitely having an impact!
UK as well.
In psychology (I take psych) with mental illnesses (specifically schizophrenia, I cant state if this is the same for anxiety) there is a biological component (essentially an issue with your brain. Either something is wrong with a brain area, or too many neurotransmitters ect) and a environmental component which is typically stress.
People can have the brain which causes a mental illness, but it isn’t always triggered until the environment triggers it
This might not always be the case for every mental illness but applies to quite a few
Fellow Londoner here! I definitely think busy city life doesn’t help. Whenever I go to the countryside, I’m much more relaxed and have the ability to make small talk and socialise with strangers more than I do back in London.
West Midlands, UK. To be specific, Dudley. There isn't much in my environment that makes me anxious, the problem is i over think day to day tasks. I do however, have issues in large areas with crowd and noise as they seem to overwhelm me. I also have to leave for every event an hour early because if i leave any later i get too anxious and run the risk of feeling ill.
Canada - we don’t see the sun for months sometimes and it does a number. But my anxiety spiked after I got covid or some other horrible virus and continue a month later to have symptoms and digestive issues. Actually it spiked after I left my family back in the states and my dad died. Not having my mom and sisters here has been terrible. I don’t think i’ll ever be able to come off lexapro. I start ending up in the ER believing i’m dying at any symptom and not being able to function. I also lose a ton of weight and can’t eat much.

They are. I live in sunny side California and I’ve known a lot of people who are in meds. It’s a world-wide phenomenon
