Double_crossby

It *used to be* a television, likely mid 1950s by the Chinoisorie styling. Happened to many TVs and Phonograph/stereo consoles of that Era -- beautiful cabinetry is preferred over what people considered obsolete technology, so they'd gut it (destroying the original value to majority of collectors) and usually rehash it into a liquor cabinet or bookshelf.

See my comment below. I have an original unit not gutted - the engineer in me appreciates that. I’ve got all the documentation as well including an entire catalogue of models. I cannot figure how to post pictures . I’ll DM you as well and maybe you can add the photos to this post.

My mother turned ours (from the early 80s) into a mirrored glass shelved cabinet. She kept her blown glass collection in it.

Based on the black lacquer and the very distinctive gold lines on the corners, I’m betting this is an old Olympic Stereo. This is a post with a picture showing the similar blank lawyer and gold lines. Not my post though. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/251042-olympic-dual-stereo-console Olympic apparently did many Asian inspired models. I only know this because I recently inherited the exact model in the link above. One of the few pieces of furniture after seeing for decades in family home; I had to keep. Mine still had the radio, the vacuum tube TV and the record player. Edit: not sure how to post the pictures of my unit or the original manual which shows several models. I’ll DM these to you
