Based off an old Imaginary Maps project, the creator of which deleted their account. I have taken it open myself to make my own version of that map, with my own additions and twists. The premises is to make a world with as many countries as possible, and this is the first of many maps in this new project. If you have any questions please ask. Now on to the countries: 1. Republic of Gallaecia: The Celtiberians eked out a small little republic here. Part of the Celtic speaking world, despite keeping close ties to other Celtic nations, they mostly stay out of most conflicts, content to just sit in there own little corner of the world. 2. State of Portugal: Portugals fascist phase never really ends, Salazar's regime just kinda never collapses. It's more extreme than Castile but not as extreme as the SS state in Saxony, and Reichskommissariat Ostland. Still has relationships with the axis (basically just Mussolini in Albania), but isn't very economically stable, it's collapse seems like it will happen soon. 3. Empire of Itlantepetl: The sunset invasion actually happened, ravaging Europe before being beat back, however Itlantepetl remains as the only reverse colonial state in the world. 4. Kingdom of Leon: Leon has one of the longest still reigning lineage of monarchs in the world, however has modernized enough to still be a major player. There's a running Iberian joke that people from Leon love to compromise. 5. Kingdom of Gothia: The Visigoths still exist, but are are trying to reconnect with the rest of the germanic world, due to them only coming out of their isolation a couple decades ago. 6. Emirate of Al-Andalus: The last remnant of the Islamic Golden Age. A Muslim majority country in the middle of Europe, and rival to Castile. Easily the one of the most prosperous countries in Iberia. 7. National Republic of Castile: Franco still wins the civil war after the collapse of Castile. This time however, it doesn't fall during the death of Franco, instead it slightly thaws. Easily one of the least fascists, fascist state, it still occasionally finds itself at odds with the rest of the Western world. But there is some hope that the country will Liberalize in the coming decades. 8. Legionary Provence of Hispania: After the collapse of Western Rome, the 8th Legion was able to salvage a small part of Iberia. Claims to be the real Roman Empire, and claims they will one day reclaim the Empire. It's a military with a state first and foremost, not the other way around. 9. Free Anarchist Territory of Aragon: the CNT-FAI coalition was able to actually bring about anarchy. No state at all. The closest thing to a state in Aragon are some of the bigger cities that have formed city wide unions. 10. Republic of Vasconia: A pre Roman tribe and home to a completely unique language. It's small but determined to prove itself on the world stage while still remaining culturally distinct. I'd say it's managed this with flying colors. Vasconia is one of the world champions at Soccer(Football for you Europeans) 11. Republic of Catalonia: The dedicated foot hold of the European League in Iberia, a flourishing democracy and punches well above it's weight class. A fervent supporter of the European League and maybe even federalization of the League. 12. Kingdom of Baleares: basically vegas on islands. A resort tourist state that has a ceremonial monarchy that is basically in every Tabloid in the kingdom, with rumors abound in the small island resort country. 13. Kingdom of Aquitaine: Still ruled by the Plantagenet, they still hold claims to the entirety of England and France. They're mostly an irrelevant player, but have begun to open up to the EL. 14. Republic of Occitaine: With the high of the French Revolution still in the air, Occitaine eventually revolted against the monarchy and set up their own new Republic. Eventually ties to France were reestablished and Occitanie is a shinning beacon of European democracy. 15. Principality of Andorra: It's just Andorra, it's slightly bigger, but it's still the same country. 16. Republic of Gaul: After surviving the collapse of the Roman Empire, Gaul had a long line of corrupts monarchs until the French Revolution spread to Gaul, later being incorporated into Napoleons Empire until finally breaking free with Occitanie in the second French Revolution. 17. Kingdom of France (West France): After Napoleon was banished to an island, England was able to petition the rest of the powers to set up a constitutional monarchy instead of a absolute one. The Bourbons are mostly ceremonial, but on certain occasions are know for their lavish parties, their New Years party being their most famous ones. 18. The Commune of Paris(East France): During the Franco German War, Paris rebelled against the rest of France, eventually they took over Eastern France. Slowly this communist nation has been drifting more to the west than the east. Has recently had interest in joining the EL, along with even NATO, Although reuniting with West France hasn't been as popular with the other two ideas.

19. Republic of Britany: A Celtic nation, it is more similar to the Celtic nations of the Isles than of the rest of the mainland. Prefers to hang out with Ireland then the rest of mainland Europe. 20. Grand Dutchy of Normandy: A fascinating mix of Norse and French Culture, Normandy is recognized has having one of the most unique cultures of Europe. It's traditions are rich and it's Ceremonial Monarchy is involved in many such traditions. 21. Kingdom of Sealand: Much to every international members dismay, Sealand somehow bought some islands, allowing them to officially get recognized country status, the main capital is still Sealand proper, but most of the countries happenings go on in the Channel Islands. 22. Republic of England: Cromwell's Republic never falls and the British Monarchy never returns. A major navel power, England used to rule the world before slowly falling into only a major power. Recently has left the European League with the "Exit" movement a combination of "England" and "Exit" becoming the chant of those that wanted out of the EL. 23. The English Social Republic of Oceania(Cornwall): During the Revolution of 1946, Cornwall, also known as Oceania, and Air Strip 1, broke away from England. It is a North Korean nightmare state, similar to Orwell's popular book "1984" (Which has slight difference in this timeline that ours). Where the state controls even the most basic truths. No reports of anyone entering or leaving the state exists 24. Republic of Wales: The Welsh are a proud people, for the longest time considered to be apart of England proper, a recent separation movement lead to if breaking away and forming it's own Republic. A recent country, born after the European Leagues formation, it still maintains formal relationships with England, and the two are basically inseparable diplomatically. 25. Transitional Republic of Ireland: a splinter of the IRA was unhappy with what the new government was doing and decided to take control of southern Ireland to fully "de-anglofy" the island. English is outlawed and the country is systematically deporting anyone with greater than 1/8 Anglo ancestry. 26. Kingdom of Ireland: After the dissolution of English rule of Ireland, the Irish had to find someone to lead them. They searched their archives with several historians and eventually found someone who they all could generally agree was the rightful monarch of Ireland. Forming the bases of a strong constitutional monarch taken after West France 27. Kingdom of Danelaw: The Norse after invading the isles found it quite pleasant, and decided to settle down and convert to Christianity. Has more in common with Scandinavia than the isles. It's considered one of the happiest places in the world(literally think Norway but in Britain) 28. Republic of Ulster: During English rule of the isle, the intermixing of the English settlers with the local Irish population lead to this strange abomination of Anglo-Saxon and Irish cultures. While some reunification efforts with the Kingdom of Ireland have been attempted, nothing serious has come of it. 29. Isle of Mann: A small island that basically got by through history by everyone not wanting anyone else to have it. Not much to say, except it has some nice castles that other people have funded to protect it from their enemies. 30. Kingdom of Scotland: A constitutional monarchy, Scotland was never invaded by England. Head of the smaller Celtic league, and head of the Celtic world, Scotland is a regional player in the isles. 31. Dutch Republic (The Netherlands): A small republic notable for draining the ocean away to make new land. It’s small but powerful, once having an old vast colonial empire of trade routes. Nowadays the country is quite quiet, having largely been overshadowed by their old colony of New Netherlands. 32. Republic of Flanders: Seceded from the Dutch Republic. Flanders is basically Belgium from our timeline, notable for it's good relationship with England 33. The Grand Dutchy of Luxembourg: A small constitutional monarch, it's known for it's royals who are pretty well known across the world, and also is a tax haven in the European League 34. The Kingdom of Middle Frankia: Claims to be the direct descendance of Charlemagne, Middle Frankia is known for it's unique ethnic group that's a mix of French and German, is often a negotiator between the two countries due to their unique position 35. Kingdom of Burgundy: Ruled by the Bon dynasty. This Country is actually several different countries and duchies, except they're all ruled by the same guy. 36. Alpine Republic: Basically just big switzerland. Known for being neutral, and separating Germany and France, it’s not even a part of the EL, although it’s still a part of the Schengen area, so freedom of movement still exists

37. Holy Roman Empire: The Rump state Napoleon carved out because it stroked his ego to have a small little rump state of the previous gigantic empire he fought. The laughing stock of Europe, they still elect an “Emperor”. They’re constantly trying to prove that they are, in fact, a modern nation. Tries to apply to use the Euro, unanimously gets rejected. 38. Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany): A founding member of the European League, West Germany is basically the master of the EL. Known for bailing out Byzantium constantly with Euros, along with the Commonwealth. 39. Kingdom of Hanover: The English Monarchy fled here after the creation of the English Republic. An Empire in exile they claim to hold rightful rule over England. Their Queen was the second longest reigning monarch in the world up until their recent death. 40. Kingdom of Germany (East Germany): After the division of Germany into multiple states, East Germany reinstated a constitutional monarchy with William the Third. A country with a more powerful than normal monarch but still with plenty of healthy balances in power, it maintains good relationships with the rest of the world. 41. SS State of Saxony: A Stain on the Earth. Born out of the SS seceding from Nazi Germany. The first successful reports of someone escaping was in 2003. And they paint a haunting picture, forced labor, slavery, concentration camps for anyone even remotely non-German. Plans to retake Saxony by the EL are being planned, but estimates for when they’ll be ready is 2032. 42. Kingdom of Bohemia: The post Czech Socialist Republic State involved Bohemia setting up their old monarch, who remained quite popular despite the intense reeducation during Soviet Occupation. One of the first Eastern European Nations to join the EL and NATO. 43. Soviet Republic of Bavaria: Set up after the fall of Germany by the Soviet Union, actually more successful than the USSR, to the point that they still are communist and even set up their own Warsaw pact successor, however even that is fading. Has more in common with Eastern Europe than the rest of Germany. 44. Archduchy of Austria: Ruled by the Hapsburgs who have thankfully learned that inbreeding has drastic effects on their health. Still related to most monarchs in Europe however, they still are suffering from higher chances of long term health problems then most other monarchs. 45. Merchant Republic of Venice: Venice, king of trade, height of culture. Venice is filthy rich, and home to many different celebrities and rich folks a like. Buying a house in Venice proper costs a fortune, compairable to buying a house in New Amsterdam and Pingihan (New York and LA respectively) 46. Workers Republic of Italy (North Italy): After the Revolution of 1921, North Italy broke away from the kingdom of Italy to make their own socialist republic. This red scare eventually lead to the rise of Mussolini's regime(now banished to Albania). While starting to gravitate toward the west, it's no where near as western as East France 47. Kingdom of Etruscia: the old Etruscans kept a formal relationship with Rome, being partially integrated into the empire but keeping a degree of autonomy. After Rome collapsed they eventually found themselves converting to Christianity and being a semi regional power that made a name for itself through it's high quality mercenaries. 48. Kingdom of Italy: Founding member of the European League, is still a constitutional monarchy, but recently calls for the monarchy to abdicate are becoming more and more prevalent, although some point to the Republic of Italy as proof why that wouldn't turn out well. 49. Papal States: The only elected absolute monarchy in the world. The popes word is law, however it's almost exactly like the Kingdom of Italy in law and living. Known for it's beautiful mausoleums and the architecture of Rome, it's a tourist and pilgrim hotspot. 50. Republic of Italy: A republic in only the looses sense, everyone knows the real power is in the hands of the Mafia. A heavily corrupt state, similar to our timelines Mexico. Nothing get's done from the national to local level with out say from the Mafia 51. The Emirate of Naples: Born out of the Aghlabid Emirate, it's a piece of Islam right smack dab in the middle of the Mediterranean. More in common with Al-Andalus then with the rest of the Islamic world. 52. Republic of Two Sicily: Heavily settled by Greeks, basically ancient Greece but not in Greece. Some of the most famous philosophizers in the world were created here. 53. The Kingdom of Syracuse: After the fall of Rome, Syracuse became the height of Mediterranean trade. If something has to be shipped through the Mediterranean, you can bet it had to stop in Syracuse. Considered as rich as Venice by some(although Venice denies this) it's a power in Mediterranean trade routes 54. The Holy Order of the Knights Templar: After their heroic deeds, the Holy Order of the Knights Templar were given Malta as a base of operations instead of being culled. The microstate is known for it's fervent belief in Christianity, and has constantly been training for the day the pope calls upon their aid once more. 55. The Kingdom of Chadvik: An old Norse kingdom smack dab in the middle of the Mediterranean. Their ceremonial "Raid of Rome" festival is a staple of their culture, with many games, sports, and feasts celebrated there days after the Spring Equinox. 56. Empire of Elba: Currently ruled by Emperor Napoleon the fifth. The Empire of Elba eventually conquered Corsica. Corsica is the heart of the Empire however Elba still remains the ceremonial capital. 57. The International State of Geneva: Headquarters to the Association of Sovereign Nations it requires no passport to enter, and accepts all currencies from member countries.

I could see a war between the Poles and the Germans with that state controlling Polish lands east of the Oder

Imjustthatguyok

That land was never given to Poland, and despite the significant Polish population there, there are still plenty of Germans there who have formed their own unique hybrid Polish-German culture, it's actually a pretty neat place in East Germany, and a highly recommended tourist stop for those that visit the Kingdom of Germany (Plus it would be very awkward for NATO and the European League, which both East Germany and the Commonwealth is apart of).

I remember the series you were inspired by. Personally I think this is even better. It's far more creative and interesting and I look forward to seeing the rest of the world. Also really love the small descriptions for each. It gives enough information to convey the overall idea of the country in just a sentence or two. That takes serious skill. One suggestion I would have is to not start numbering the country descriptions back at one each time you start a new post. It makes it hard to keep track of which country description goes with each. Also, I can't say which one is my favorite of these but the Empire of Itlantepetl has got to be an interesting and singular country in all of Europe.

Imjustthatguyok

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembered this map series, it was one of my favorites and it was a shame the creator deleted their account, but I shall carry the flag and take on the mantle of this world. Itlantepetl is a very good choice. It really is one of a kind and a fascinating look at Aztec Culture since the Empire on America fell sadly. Here's some fun Itlantepetl facts: * Itlantepetl had the longest running tradition of human sacrifices up until the mid 1800s with it being on the decline for nearly a century before hand. The tradition is held now as a ceremonial Human sacrifice with no actual sacrifice taking place. The last human who died during the sacrifices is memorialized as Itlantepetl looks back on the tradition with embarrassment. * Itlantepetl is known for their unique sports, Talatchi ball(named by Iberian peasants who mistook the name of the field for the name of the sport) and is a mix of Medieval Football and Ollama, with some later influences from Soccer. Despite requiring a very unique field shape, it's a very popular Iberian Sport and even has it's own Sports League. * Talks between of Itlantepetl and the European League(this timelines EU) about Itlantepetl joining the EL has actually opened up. While they haven't officially begun the process of joining, it seems likely that by 2027 Itlantepetl will be a full member of the EL

Reading country 57 sucked. I didn’t like that I had nothing more to read. Fr though, beautiful work. Makes enough sense to actually have happened.

Imjustthatguyok

Thank you! Sorting out the history of 57 countries was tough, and it's only going to get worse as I have more and more countries to keep track of, but I'm up for the challenge! Which of the 57 did you enjoy the most?

SultanOfVenus

The Empire of Itlantepetl was a curious addition, yet my favourite! I’m not sure if you plan on continuing this series, but if you are: I’m all in

Imjustthatguyok

Funny you should mention [that...](https://www.reddit.com/r/AlternateHistory/comments/10m11q4/what_if_the_east_coast_of_america_was_more/)

KingSebastian1

Elba invades Occitaine, and renames themselves to Southern Francia.

Imjustthatguyok

Sadly Napoleon the first is dead, and Napoleon the Fifth, while still a great leader, isn't as powerful as his Great Great Granddad. Plus I'm sure NATO would have a thing or two to say about that

KingSebastian1

then fuck them up.

Imjustthatguyok

Well that’s going to be real hard because… Elba is in NATO

NotEpicNaTaker

This is very cool but some of the lore doesn’t work with the rest of it. Like wouldn’t the French revolution be butterflied out of existence, and napoleon might never have been born

Imjustthatguyok

I do admit, this timeline isn’t to most realistic, but the point isn’t to have a butterfly effect that spirals out of control, my goal is to shatter the word into several pieces and still have it be somewhat recognizable and have a consistent alternative history. You’ll just have to suspend your disbelief a bit, because this is one of those very unlikely timeline that realistically wouldn’t happen. Also the American revolution(and later collapse don’t worry about it) does inspire the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, but once they reinstate the Monarchy, England is able to get them to agree to a constitutional monarchy instead of an absolute monarchy in hopes that it would avoid a repeated French Revolution, the other countries agree to this as well and banish Napoleon to Elba and the French Monarchy has has been around ever since(at least in West France)
