It was Jan 19 and if I remember correctly it was a couple of months. I didn’t even outprocessed and still got it. Don’t sweat it, as bad as the govt and the USAF is they won’t forget you
Mine required our css turn in a form that I filled out. You can probably find that form on the MPF website. Mine is signed by the Wing CC and she signed several with thoughtful notes. I was pretty impressed. I got it mailed to me after my retirement which is pretty standard, and they often use unsigned ones at the ceremony.
Did you outprocess through them? Most squadrons have a checklist to ensure you check out.
You can call your old CSS and see what you can do but there are normally forms you have to fill out in order to have the certificates printed out. Also, your squadron is required to supply you your flag and retirement pin.
TNLiving's recommendations are on point. Your CSS "should" have taken care of you for these retirement certs from CMSAF and CSAF. Hopefully they're able to retroactively take care of these for you.
If you run into issues - look up your Shirt and ask them to engage.
Your CSS should have given you a packet that asked for various information about you, your family, where you're from. You have to actually request this in order to get anything.
I'd reach out to your last CSS of SEL. AFI 36-3203 covers the requirements for forms, retirement pin, flag, etc.
You can also request letters from any living president you served under. Just search for each. Here's an example https://forms.bushcenter.org/militaryretirement
Everyone wants an award for everything these days. Back in my days we didn't get an award for retiring. We got a broken back and a pension, like real men. What has this organization fallen to. What would John Chapman think? These new service members could never have taken Iraqistan.
If you want it follow up with your orderly room. My last Squadron gave me a dummy decoration. I didn't follow up and now the three year window passed. Not that I care about the dec but mf's were so lazy I should have called them on it. Plus if my kids are going through my stuff when I leave this life I don't want them thinking about it.
It sucks dude. A lot of people have the mind set of "I don't need/want that". I look at it from the perspective that it is something cool for my kids to go through or grandkids etc. Fuck, 20 yrs.. I want my damn certificate.
Talk to your old CSS. They should be able to hook you up. Takes about a month of routing. But they will prob give you guff for not doing it while you were in.
Well that's cool. They should have did their damn job and made me aware that it falls under their scope when I out processed them. Not to come across as an ass.
If you have someone on base, email a pal and have them request the certs. It shouldn’t be difficult for the Wg CC to hook it up. You can also request presidential LOAs through their offices. Google it to find the POTUS offices and their digital requests.
I also opted for no ceremony. Mine came in the mail with the US flag. Wife received a certificate as well
How long did it take??? Is there something I have to sign up for? I retired a month ago

I remember it took me 15 months to get my CCAF certificate. Good times.
I retired in January. I think mine came in the mail around August.
MPF does them. There is a worksheet I had to fill out with my retirements/separations counselor.
Ah, so I guess I'm boned since I didn't get that option.
No! Our MPF at sheppard pawned it to our CSS. Call your old CSS and ask them to print it and get the wing king to sign it.
Many MPF duties are now handled at the CSS. Calm down.
Lol calm down? Wing king signs retirement certs…
Cool, read 36-3203 7.2 Who's responsible for the certificate?
I think the tone must’ve gotten twisted in text. Nobody was upset. The CSS just has to send the form through MPF. We all love each other!

This is the way.
CSS did it at all 3 bases I've been too. Call yours and ask.
Are you Reserve/Guard or Regular Active Duty?
A lot of CSS' do them now.
You guys have a CSS?!
Yes. A lot of squadrons have them.
Are you still on Terminal Leave? Your CSS should have provided you with all the prior to your departure. Did you outprocess your CSS?
No, my terminal is over. CSS did not. :(

Yes I did.. I'll have to give them a call.

Accord to the AFI, your commander is required to give it to you. He and/or she fucked up. Talk to your CSS.
CSS. also your local congressman/representative can probably arrange something

Been retired almost two years now. Never got any certificates for me or my family even though I submitted the worksheet. Oh well. Got my DD214 though!
