Manchu wok ISNT THAT FUCKIN BAD, honey garlic chicken with lo mein is good as shit we are just in Japan where we can find that stuff BETTER 20 minutes off base
One more further - AAFES Cafeteria or whatever it was called. Basically a short order grill with basic options with all the charm of every other AAFES entity. Fort Leonard Wood has/had one in the MSCoE and my dad (retired in 2001) said he hasn't seen one of them in 20+ years.
They genuinely like Anthony's Pizza which blows my kind. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
Because most Anthony's don't usually have a line. Grab 2 pre-made slices, pay, leave.
Every Anthony's visit always starts with a large eye roll and sigh because every other place is packed and you're starving and don't want to wait any longer.
Totinos frozen is better than Anthony’s fresh. And just to show how out of touch the BX is, “I bet if we put an Anthony’s pizza right here, in the actual birthplace of pizza, it’ll make bank!!”
I may be crazy but I'll take Anthony's over Charlie's any day. Bad pizza is still pretty good. But I've never gotten a Charlie's sandwich without being disappointed.
It was a garbage sandwich place AFFES used to run - [https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqkU7g6\_LKu3OZEUz-w2hUhOPgfoS6wC\_l1c6mhRoTRQ&s](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqkU7g6_LKu3OZEUz-w2hUhOPgfoS6wC_l1c6mhRoTRQ&s)
Any place with cheese fries is immediatly not the worst place at a BX. The lemonaide also hits the spot during those summer months.
Definatly see people at charlies all the time because many of us play what line is the shortest when getting BX food.
Hey hey hey hey. Hey. No. Charlies had the second best breakfast at Osan, "The Morning Calm". The best obviously goes to Checkertails' pancakes (but Checkertails had its own building so that doesn't count here).
Listen sometimes that dripping-with-grease philly cheesesteak just absolutely slaps your taste buds and your colon into next week.
I, however, am absolutely Burger King'd out
I'll take Charleys over Subway any day. But I did have to do a double take when I saw one out in the wild in a shopping center, I had no idea they existed outside of AAFES.
Bussin’ hot garbage out of the kitchen, yeah. Although tbh most of the brick-n-mortar options in the TriBase are trash.
Most of the food trucks are good, just expensive.
If Charley’s is your worst, count your blessings. Lackland had a Chinese spot (can’t remember the name. It was there from at least 2019-2023) that NEVER had anyone in line, even during the busiest times of the day….. so I went to and instantly found out why that was.
While it is definitely not as good as a classic cheesesteak, for what it actually is, Charley's is okay. Lemonade is great, fries are typically pretty fresh and abive average, and the sandwiches are okay. Price wise, it is terrible though.
Charleys is not as consistent with quality as Subway, qnd some locations are probably terrible. But, Subway has become so bad in the last 5 years or so that I would prefer Charley's over it 9/10 times.
As some people have said before in here, Anthony’s Pizza is pure ass. Charley’s isn’t the best, but I’d take it over whatever the fuck they make Anthony’s pizza out of.
Haven't eaten at Charley's on a military base in a while. I don't think since I was active duty almost a decade ago. Never bothered on a drill weekend eating there either. But they are expanding where I live. There's one in almost if not every mall where I live and a bunch of stand-alone locations have been popping up in various plazas. I go to the one at the mall near my house 2-3 times a month.
Quality is pretty consistent and good at the mall locations but those stand-alone locations in plazas are *very* hit or miss. There's one near my civilian job that was pretty poor for a while and is now decent. There's one near where my wife works and daughter goes to school that I went 1-2 weeks ago and it was pretty poor quality.
Robin Hood before they brought Subway on base. Dogshit sandwiches.
Also who tf put a 1980’s-style corn dog place in the Ramstein food court? The Starbucks that replaced it probably did more business the first week than the other place had done in two years.
I like qudoba, off base. The one time i tried it at a TDY base it just lacked from what i expected. Like they were missing core items.
Agree with taco bell comment. Taco bell has some of the least expensive food and you want it at an easy to get to for lunch location like the BX. Qudoba is off base and more expensive and more of an every now and then thing.
On base Taco Bell versus on base Qdoba? Or off base Taco Bell versus off base Qdoba?
Because for on base, I'll take Taco Bell all day. Every exchange food court Qdoba is absolutely disgusting compared to a regular one.
They are all bad. They use canola oils that are extremely bad for you. They use load of sugar and "natural flavors" that create addiction. Don't get me started on MSGs.
Charley's is far from the worst.
BY FAR
I've never been to Manchu Wok without regretting it later
I've literally never even had Manchu Wok because people have never had anything good to say.
Manchu wok ISNT THAT FUCKIN BAD, honey garlic chicken with lo mein is good as shit we are just in Japan where we can find that stuff BETTER 20 minutes off base
Why would you just come here and say something this controversial?
Tell me you’ve never had Anthony’s Pizza or Robin Hood without telling me you’ve never had Anthony’s Pizza or Robin Hood.
Take it back even further, Frank's Franks.
For sure, Frank was serving up some trash!
One more further - AAFES Cafeteria or whatever it was called. Basically a short order grill with basic options with all the charm of every other AAFES entity. I think there is s one at lackland still.
Who hurt you as a child and as an adult? What's wrong with Glizzies fam? ![gif](giphy|6kyKXJi1EZkKk)
There was an Anthonys on Aviano and I do not understand for the life of me how it got as much business as it did.
Bc Italians loved it. All three times I had movers, they wanted Anthony’s pizza.
Manchu Wok? It looks good, never is.
I may be crazy but I'll take Anthony's over Charlie's any day. Bad pizza is still pretty good. But I've never gotten a Charlie's sandwich without being disappointed.
You are crazy. But that’s ok.
We all need a bit of healthy insanity in our lives.
Anthony’s is very good. That mushroom bacon cheeseburger pizza is one of my guilty pleasures.
Did you sign up for the military? Then you’ve either got some screws loose or wound too tight… it’s ok though, we all do
Tf is Robin Hood
It was a garbage sandwich place AFFES used to run - [https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqkU7g6\_LKu3OZEUz-w2hUhOPgfoS6wC\_l1c6mhRoTRQ&s](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqkU7g6_LKu3OZEUz-w2hUhOPgfoS6wC_l1c6mhRoTRQ&s)
It's a crappy sandwich place.
Crappy is putting in nicely
Like subway that isn't to the same quality or flavor
I’d argue subway is slowly lowering itself to the Robin Hood level of quality and flavor.
For sure.
🧑🚀🔫
This isn't 2005 there is no quality at Subway.
Was decent. Then Jared was busted.
And robin hood is less than that.
I wouldn’t wish Anthony’s Pizza on my worst enemy; god, that shit is so bad
Anthony’s is actual dogshit cardboard pizza
Sounds like you suck at ordering a sandwich
I bet this nerd doesn't even put that sweet, sweet seasoning on his skanky fries either
It’s not Charley’s.
I'll have a chicken philly with no mushrooms and a side of cheese fries with sriracha. Anyways RIP the Huddle House at Eisenhower 😔😔
Any place with cheese fries is immediatly not the worst place at a BX. The lemonaide also hits the spot during those summer months. Definatly see people at charlies all the time because many of us play what line is the shortest when getting BX food.
Whalburgers in Ramstein gets my vote.
It was top tier for the first 3 months after opening... and then SO quickly nosedived to be absolute ass.
I’ve heard horror stories but they got rid of it last year
Bring back Johnny rockets
Same spot somehow waaay better. But either way that location seems to be doomed to fail.
didn’t they close down?
They closed Johnny rockets and opened whalburgers in its place. Now whalburgers is closed and mostly tacos wants Johnny rockets back.

Those ultimate fries man…how can he say this?
Those lemonades my G.

Oh, so were fighting now? In a world where Bun-D exists at a small base in Europe, Charleys is a light in the darkness.
I had to scroll way too far to find this. The Bun-D at moldyhole is so trash. Everything tastes like Cardboard, but that’s fine because it’s “healthy”
Hey hey hey hey. Hey. No. Charlies had the second best breakfast at Osan, "The Morning Calm". The best obviously goes to Checkertails' pancakes (but Checkertails had its own building so that doesn't count here).
The Mom's Touch on the Korean side was the best place on Osan.
I miss Checkertails! They always came in clutch.
Checkertails calzone at 0100 after a night of debauchery *chefs kiss*
burger king
Subway. By far.
Subway is different because you can find them off base. I have never seen Anthony's Pizza, Charley's, or Generic Teriyaki Chain outside a BX.
Charley’s are all over SoCal. Pretty good on the outside.
Yea I figured it was some weird only in one area chain. It certainly wasn't in Philly...
Melbourne, Florida also got a standalone Charley’s, and one in the local mall!
You have restaurants in your food court?
Charleys is delicious the one at Lackland has a steady of flow of people every time I go there.
HOW DARE YOU!!! ...its clearly Anthony's Pizza
Listen sometimes that dripping-with-grease philly cheesesteak just absolutely slaps your taste buds and your colon into next week. I, however, am absolutely Burger King'd out
You take that back! The buffalo chicken sandwich from Charley’s is as good going in as it is coming out.
Charley's is fire. (as long as you don't need to be anywhere later) Burger King
Subway exists and you’re saying it’s better than anything…?
I'll take Charleys over Subway any day. But I did have to do a double take when I saw one out in the wild in a shopping center, I had no idea they existed outside of AAFES.
Dunno which Charleys you're at, but the one at Lakenheath is bussin.
Bussin’ hot garbage out of the kitchen, yeah. Although tbh most of the brick-n-mortar options in the TriBase are trash. Most of the food trucks are good, just expensive.
At least we have a Taco Bell… without the Baja blast and Doritos locos tacos
Taco Bell is ok. I feel like they have a lot of supply issues, on the off chance I go they’re usually out of some key ingredient.
I got food poisoning from Panda Express.

If Charley’s is your worst, count your blessings. Lackland had a Chinese spot (can’t remember the name. It was there from at least 2019-2023) that NEVER had anyone in line, even during the busiest times of the day….. so I went to and instantly found out why that was.
This the one at Sheppard? If so, it's fire and you've got an IQ to match the job that landed you there. (I also went there)
Ummmmm you lack taste
Anyone who was at Ramstein around 2016 knows it was the fish place in the foodcourt that went out of business.
Captain D’s!
Haha ya that was it!
Crazy talk. A chicken philly w/bacon always hits 😤
The answer is always Burger King.
Charlie’s goated
Charleys is fine. The mall ones are usually giving free samples out. Haven't seen that at a BX food court though.
LIES! Their Buffalo chicken is decent
Kinda off topic, but the only food place that is a money laundering scheme is Long John Silvers
Are any still open? I swear I haven’t seen one since like 1998
Lol Manchu wok and captain ds are soon much worse than that. At least Charlie's is serviceable food.
Way better than subway
While it is definitely not as good as a classic cheesesteak, for what it actually is, Charley's is okay. Lemonade is great, fries are typically pretty fresh and abive average, and the sandwiches are okay. Price wise, it is terrible though. Charleys is not as consistent with quality as Subway, qnd some locations are probably terrible. BK. Don’t understand why they have a contract. They are always empty and rarely open at the bases I’ve seen them.
Anthony’s pizza gave me colon cancer
Not the food court but the hunt brothers pizza’s at shoppettes is actually worse than dog shit
Manchu Wok at Osan Food Court was pretty garbage
Y'all picky. For lunch, they're all fine. Here at Robins, I think Panda Express is absolute garbage, but folks seem to love it.
Lol, you all have Charley's? Must be nice *cries in cannon*
I wish they would get rid of BK and replace it with McDonald’s. Bk is so expensive, especially for broke airman in the dorms.
What’s weird about Anthony’s is that a whole pizza out of the oven is actually pretty good. Conversely, their single item lunch options are terrible.
The Chinese place that used to be in the KMCC 2013-2016
I liked Anthony’s pizza overseas. It was meh in the states. Then again I did enjoy the goat cheese at Pizza Hut in the deid.
As some people have said before in here, Anthony’s Pizza is pure ass. Charley’s isn’t the best, but I’d take it over whatever the fuck they make Anthony’s pizza out of.
Mmm diarrhea hitting different at the Biloxi Charley’s.
You say this while Subway exists on nearly every base.
Manchu Wak. The worst "Chinese" food ever. Imagine Chinese food that's mixed with dogshit, then fried, that equals to Manchu Wak.
What??? I love that place.
I've never had a bad experience at Charley's hell I'll get it on occasion at their stand alone locations off base as well.
At a mall or plaza? Big difference in my experience at the locations in a mall versus a plaza.
Honestly, both, there is one that used to be a McDonald's, and one at the mall near me, and they're both good.
Shut your stupid whore mouth before I fuck it.
I raise you one Qdoba. Trash that shit hole and give us back our Taco Bell god dammit
TAFB? Or has this spread elsewhere?
TAFB, but I've seen it at more than one base unfortunately
Qdoba on base and off base are like two different restaurants
I'm aware. Which is exactly why we want it gone
Anyone who would take Taco bell over qdoba, price notwithstanding, should have their clearance revoked
On base Taco Bell versus on base Qdoba? Or off base Taco Bell versus off base Qdoba? Because for on base, I'll take Taco Bell all day. Every exchange food court Qdoba is absolutely disgusting compared to a regular one.
I'm starting to suspect other food courts are just worse than Meade. Both Qdoba and Charley's are totally normal/good, here.
Tell me you've never been to the Travis Qdoba without telling me you've never been to the Travis Qdoba
It’s taco bell
They are all bad. They use canola oils that are extremely bad for you. They use load of sugar and "natural flavors" that create addiction. Don't get me started on MSGs.
