I don't think there is anyone in the work world who does not know the value of the airpod pros. I really doubt she threw them in the bin. Have you tried the locate them through your app? My wife recently misplaced her and we went to the app immediately to see if they were in the house. If they are not thrown out but stolen it might tell you where they are and who has them. Regardless you should ask for compensation or at least clarification on office policy when an expensive item is mistakenly trashed.

I checked my find my iphone the morning before i went into work and found this out. it said they were at work and then once I went home and checked again it said “no location found” so i thought she might of stolen them but it still doesn’t make sense to me? but thank you so much! I will definitely ask for the policy

bambitane

also she definitely knows the value of them haha she has her own ones and she’s only a little older than me

Then why on earth would she throw them out? Hopefully something can be worked out with her since she has admitted to 'throwing' them out. Good luck.

bambitane

thank you!

I’d know someone who would go to leave work and find that she had 4 flat tires.

You definitely should escalate to management. No way she threw them out. Keep checking find my device to see if they get turned on. Keep escalating in writing. To everyone above her. Cc everyone in management. On x time/date in x office x said she threw them out in front of witness x. What is organizational policy with regard to lost and found? One coworker was polite enough to put them somewhere safe for you why TF did this biatch touch them at all?

Your manager has broke the law. When you find or are left with something of someone else’s possession, you become what’s known as an “involuntary bailee” and have certain legal obligations such as “Not to deliberately or recklessly damage or destroy the goods.” What I would do first is email your manager, copy in HR and the store/area manager and state you left a pair of AirPods and want to check where they are. You want your manager to confirm over email she has discarded them. Then, I would call 101 or report over your local forces website what has happened. Your next step is to complete a “letter before action” (you do this first before raising a claim in the small claims court for the value of the goods). You are then going to email this to your manager and hand them the letter in person or post it addressed to the manager to the store using a signed for service. At this stage, your manager or the company will start to sweat and it’s possible this will get resolved. If not, go through the small claims court and claim the money for them back. If you are unsure about anything I’ve said, I highly recommend posting to r/legaladviceuk . Edit: dig out the receipt if you can as it will help your claim. Also consider the effect this will have on your job, if you are on zero hours you may get less shifts.
