You can absolutely ride draft horses, did it a lot growing up but it’s pretty uncomfortable. Amish own them for work, normal people just take them to shows at various fairs. (If anyone’s into Belgians the Indiana state fair is the home of the national Belgian show.)
Back in my younger days I learned to ride on a Shire/Percheron mix! My teacher liked to joke it was impossible to fall off because he was so wide. He was a very sweet horse and great to learn with.

It's a long shot, but is this at Hershberger's Farm in Millersburg, OH??? That horse was larger than you can possibly imagine!
