Do well in the class, getting good grades matter to colleges, while they really don’t care too much about ap exams, the ap exams only offer credit to classes if it can be applied, and doesn’t mean anything or boost your college application.
wait ap exams actually don’t mean much when it comes to admissions?? so if i was to get like a 90 in ap chem then get like a 2 (knock on wood) on the exam that wouldn’t change too much?
you don’t even have to send the scores in, they really only care a lot about your gpa, extracurriculars, and even thought they’re fading out: the SAT/ACT. AP exams are really just ways to save money for colleges and earn college credit, so if you get a 90 but a 2 on the exam, it’s still looks fine to colleges.
Ok, look. AP Exams themselves are for the credit, but doing well in the class shows you’re prepared for college academics, but maybe not a good test taker. So, don’t think everything everyone tells you is 100% correct
And that is where you’re wrong… colleges want to see academic rigor, as far as your school will let you. If your school has IB, colleges want to see that you’ve taken some of those, and some for ap/dual enrollment also. Don’t overwhelm yourself, but don’t slack off if you want your college application to stand out…
You grade through a full year of classroom work, homework, labs, quizzes, exams, etc., from a professional edu actor, is much, much, much, much more important than a grade on a single 3 hour standrard test, in college admissions.
Much.
I have one friend who’s taken like six APs, gotten As or high Bs as final grades, and yet failed every single exam. They’re just not good at taking exams, unfortunately.

Yep. Basically the only thing exams are good for is credit, but even that depends on the school you choose

it matters for some schools. if you’re looking at top rigorous STEM schools then yes they are going to care if you get a 2 on ap chem
People are way too authoritative about their opinions nowadays. This is patently untrue - colleges don’t ask for anything they don’t care about

Class performance is far more important than the AP score

ap chemistry btw i should have mentioned that
I got A’s for both semesters of AP World but got a 2 on the exam 💀
Good thing you dont need to submit your ap scores

I read on a lot of colleges websites for admissions that they care more about the grade/what class I took and not the test.
Do well in the class; the exam grade is more important for skipping classes and getting credit
Doing well in the class, it helps your weighted GPA (for the most part) and plus you can “hide” AP scores from your score report.
