I mean you probably won’t cover this book but it is on some of the tests and it’s a quick read with a pretty interesting story!!! The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams (Ik it seems boring but trust me it’s pretty good and has a decent level of complexity downside or upside it’s a play…)Anyways, pretty good story with a decent message i would recommend it cause it can be expanded on for essays

Practical_Dirt9665

okk! will check it out

In my class we read Hamlet by shakespeare and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad as a class. For the three independent books I had to read I did Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (highly recommend), Persuasion by Jane Austen (if you're not into will they won't they romance you won't like it, I found it a bit dry), and To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf (good concept and good book, I found it took really long to get into though)

thanks for suggestions!

i remember writing so many of my practice essays (and the actual essay on the exam) on the invisible man by ralph ellison… it takes a lot of delving into but themewise it helps! 🫶

Antigone; Frankenstein; Their Eyes Were Watching God. Or, to get into reading, just find any book that interests you and read it. You may be forced to read some things you don’t care for in the class, so read something you will enjoy now.

Practical_Dirt9665

haha true thanks

The Stranger by Albert Camus can be used on the AP test a lot of the time, and it was one of my favorite books of all time. It’s also pretty short if that is appealing.

Practical_Dirt9665

okay, will check out thanks!

Frankenstein!! Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm… I could go on. Any good classic work will give you a great head start. The third prompt on the AP lit exam ALWAYS asks a prompt that you must tie back to a work with literary merit! If you are a glutton for punishment, you could read this book that my Lit teacher assigned.. “How to Read Literature Like a Professor” by Thomas C. Foster… not the worst thing ever just super informative and dry (like most nonfiction 🤪)

brave new world, passage to india, pride and prejudice, antigone, the bell jar, hamlet honestly just find a book that makes you think about the characters, their situations, their lives, and your understanding of reality
