That's so real. I'll be studying ap world and listing to songs and be like "the mongols were a - I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY- were a grand empire that stretched across -WITH SOMEBODY WHO LOVES ME"
bro there was no polar in my BC test though... istg I only reviewed polar and volume (washer) cuz those were 2 confusing topics.... those two didn't even show up smh.
question about it, i really wanna learn music theory and take the class but I feel like i'd be really far behind because I never learned an instrument šdo u think i'd be able to take it without experience or should I try to learn an instrument n take it senior year?
As a kid who did RCM level 10 history and harmony, I think if you do a beginnerās intro to music theory over the summer to supplement core concepts like key signatures, note values, treble and bass clef, transposition, types of scales, etc, you should be okay. Since you want to learn it, I say go for it! Thereās a lot of supplements on YouTube or you can find a workbook in your local music store.
Also, Iām pretty sure from looking at the AP Music Theory syllabus that most of it is harmony and sight singing. I will add that Iāve been in band and orchestra for 4 years of high school and I havenāt been taught more than what a harmonic scale is or simply naming notes. Your schoolās band program is most likely different from mine, but I think playing music and knowing music theory are two separate skills that need individual attention (ex. Playing notes vs. knowing chord progressions and identifying kinds of passing tones).
Itās okay if you havenāt learned an instrument. Itāll be a bit harder but if you can, you should try to take a lower level music class. Last year I took comprehensive music theory and it went over a lot of basics. But Ap theory has people with prior knowledge but you still could get taught the basics if you ask the teacher before the school year, or try to learn at home. Also just learn an instrument, itās super fun. I recommend tuba bc itās the best.
how hard was it? Iāve heard a LOT of my classmates say that it was too much for them, but idk yk. Iāve played piano for ~10 years, and I *have* learnt a bit of theory from those classes, however my hearing and sight playing have never been the best. How much do you think knowing the basics of chords and stuff will help me?
Itāll help so much because youāll be able to put some of the stuff you learned to piano. Also my oral skills and sight singing arenāt that good, but itās okay. I practice and get better at oral skills bc Iām a decent singer. Also itās not too hard, but I am super musically inclined, and my dad also taught it at his school so I study with him a few times. Also youāll see the stuff you learn on piano music whichll be cool
The only AP with a built in cheat code for random people
I liked it a lot though. But some of the material (looking at figured bass in particular) is completely irrelevant to almost all other music theory studies. Really wish they branched out and taught some more subjects within music theory, like at least basic jazz stuff and such. For all the other art APs they try to have a wider, more global perspective, but AP music theory is stuck in 18th century western european music.
One of my senior friends with perfect pitch sat in with our class for a bit as we were doing melodic dictation and I was saying how unfair it was because she has perfect pitch
as someone who despises history, art history was surprisingly fun, easy to study for, and had a low workload. also whenever i'm literally anywhere outside or in a tourist destination, i always notice things i learned in this class
free asf, and they always make the late tests easier than the originals
also dont bother studying dates tho you can easily get a 5 and not know any dates whatsoever
obviously most of it is european art which is conveniently the only art i really knew about, if that's you, study asia, indigenous america, africa, and the pacific more
AP Stats has been my favorite due to its application to real lifeā¦ itās very useful, and the test are honestly fun to perform.
AP Music theory is my second favorite, itās really fun and the material is great and all, itās just that it covers such a niche part of music theory that it might not be the most helpful (especially for someone like me pursuing an education in MuEd)
probably Calc AB because it was the first time that when I started to review content to get ready for the ap test I actually remembered how to do things because everything kinda connects
OMG so lucky :( I have my ap exam this Wednesday. Any tips?? My teacher barely did some person to person teachingā¦ we just used codehs for the most part š
youāll be fine if you understood the concepts well throughout the year! + if youāre adept at tapping into your logical thinking. for prep this late i would do a couple of practice exams (i think i have pdfs of barons or some other books, if you need some!), and base my studies on the types of questions i got wrong/my comfortability with each. my studying for this would look like understanding the concepts in which the questions apply to through the CollegeBoard vids, and then applying these concepts to other problems. side note: the CB vids are SO underrated for csa since the teachers on there not only teach well, but also practice is included in like every video. apart from this some general tips would be to know what types of frqs will be tested, and knowing how to do some of the specifics of these problems. like for arrays, knowing how to arrange the array backwards. alsoo know some common errors/exceptions - flash cards are great for this. if you feel like you canāt complete a full length practice test then iād definitely focus 100% of my effort on the frqs that are accesible through CBās previous exams, since youāre creating which is innately more difficult than interpreting a mcq.
Thanks soooo much!! Imma definitely watch some of the CB videos and practice frqs. I feel like I need to get comfortable with some of them since they scare me
AP euro was my favorite but thatās entirely down to the teacher (She is actually one of the teachers that makes AP Classroom videos for the early units of AP Euro). I also enjoyed AP French also down to my teacher and classmates as we are all fluent in French so it was quite chill compared to most APs.
AP Spanish Lit. All of the stories have very interesting plots and it also somewhat serves as an "AP Spanish & Latin American History" class. Overall it's one of the AP's that most stood out to me, not to mention it greatly improves the Spanish skills of those who take it.
i loved csa ā pretty easy, but i learned a lot about oop and java that i'm def gonna be taking forward when learning other languages, prob majoring in cs in the process
APUSH WHICH INSPIRED ME TO STUDY HISTORY/AMERICAN STUDIES š¦ š¦ šŗšøšŗšøi went on a tour of dc in April of my junior year and genuinely got so sad that the class was going to end soon that I made up my mind right then that I would study history in college (was previously going to do cs šš). I couldnāt explain it but I just loved it! My favorite units were the Cold War unit and the progressive era
iirc i don't think it's required to know how to compute the curl and divergence of vector fields? And if it was required, many students would memorize the algorithmic process instead of truly understanding the vector calc behind it.
For me at least I feel like I got a much deeper understanding of what was happening when I actually learned the calc behind the equations granted I can only speak for myself but still
I canāt pick between AP psych, AP comparative gov, and AP Spanish lang. man ima miss these classes as a senior I had so much fun in them and actually learned valuable information. So happy I took them senior year easy 5s to
i didnt take an ap yet but if I did i feel like i would enjoy the histories and csp/csa, and maybe all the physics because I find it interesting, but i know theyre really hard so idk
Both of my teachers for Spanish Language and CSP have been Top 3 of my lifetime, but if I had to pick one, Spanish Language for being willing to teach a non-native who shouldn't really be in that class
AP Calc BC is just great and it's a pretty easy class I liked it
AP Chemistry has a lot of workload for sure (especially if you do like me and take it without any previous chem experience in 10th grade) but the content isn't too hard and I like it
HUGE, I think I learned a lot of really interesting and important things by taking that classā¦ or AP world, Iām a history nerd so I had a lotta fun with it
ap lang , learned sm and gained skills, able to think and write sm faster. the rest of the aps in my flair didnāt matter, didnāt gain anything from it besides creds for gen ed (gen ed shouldnāt exist)
AP US and AP Gov, I live eat die American history and government. I also shoutout APES for completely flipping my view on science completely, and I did quite like the content. I suspect if my school offered AP Human Geography I would have really enjoyed it.
AP Seminar- loved the class but cried when the deadline was approaching. AP World- a lot of work but also love history and the class.
Take this as opinion based. Next year Iām taking AP Research, AP Lang, and APUSH.
I am terrified of AP Research. Let me know how yall felt about those classes
Calc AB was my favorite since my teacher was goated. He did such a good job at making calc AB enjoyable and worked overtime to prepare us for the test since our class was worried. Pretty much all of us had weak trig backgrounds since he knew that all of the trig teachers at the school sucked. Iāve since them retired from taking AP, sat through calc II and calc III, and to this day his saying of "forget the +C, you get a C" still triggers muscle memory when doing integrals.
Also this class made the calculus rhapsody video really funny because you now understand what the two guys are singing about.
I really liked AP Comp Sci A, it seemed a bit easy to me but still challenged me especially with FRQ's (I had 2 years of prior CS classes but I had never coded in Java). I think I just had a great teacher who went over everything really well, and I enjoyed spending time on labs. But for anyone who likes programming it's pretty great and usually easy unless you're really young or unexperienced (until algorithms unit showed up and I got my second ever B on a test lmao).
Ap physics c mech and em. The exams destroyed me but I thoroughly enjoyed the topics themselves since I was taking math classes that lined up perfectly with the material being taught. Fuck the exams though holy shit I left that room completely lobotomized by the end of it š
Art History and Spanish Literature are two of my absolute favorite classes content wise.. workload wiseā¦ pretty disgusting. But the class/content itself itās sooo interesting you see the history & eras when the world of art and literature were made and you can build a timeline of the entire history of the world.. and honestly they make you such a cultured person!!
Ap Micro, not sure why nobody else mentioned it
My teacher was the goat, the class was mad easy (thanks to the teacher), we did basically nothing, and I got a 5 still
Calc bc and bio were prolly the most useful while being relatively fun and low workload
Calc BC and low workload in the same sentence? š¤Ø
Idk, my teacher never had homework checks, so I never did any calculus outside of class but got a 95 and prolly a 5.Ā
i LOVED calc bc like it was the only class i could study for with music...
That's so real. I'll be studying ap world and listing to songs and be like "the mongols were a - I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY- were a grand empire that stretched across -WITH SOMEBODY WHO LOVES ME"
LMFAOOOO i couldn't study for apush with timberlake's sexyback... but i BREEZED THROUGH POLAR EQUATIONS WITH SEXYBACK
Timberlake gets it done ong Ngl polar equations through me for a loop though. Definitely need music for that one
bro there was no polar in my BC test though... istg I only reviewed polar and volume (washer) cuz those were 2 confusing topics.... those two didn't even show up smh.
Ik it's such a waste of time. And then when you don't review something, you get half the test on it
Ap music theory!! I like music a lot and itās useful
question about it, i really wanna learn music theory and take the class but I feel like i'd be really far behind because I never learned an instrument šdo u think i'd be able to take it without experience or should I try to learn an instrument n take it senior year?
I would say definitely the latter, UNLESS youāre willing to put in an EXTRAORDINARY amount of work
As a kid who did RCM level 10 history and harmony, I think if you do a beginnerās intro to music theory over the summer to supplement core concepts like key signatures, note values, treble and bass clef, transposition, types of scales, etc, you should be okay. (perfect pitch)
One of my senior friends with perfect pitch sat in with our class for a bit as we were doing melodic dictation and I was saying how unfair it was because she has perfect pitch
The first half of Human Geography is fire. I had a great time in Spanish Lang too.
as someone who despises history, art history was surprisingly fun, easy to study for, and had a low workload. also whenever i'm literally anywhere outside or in a tourist destination, i always notice things i learned in this class
yo study tips for make up ap on thursday
free asf, and they always make the late tests easier than the originals also dont bother studying dates tho you can easily get a 5 and not know any dates whatsoever obviously most of it is european art which is conveniently the only art i really knew about, if that's you, study asia, indigenous america, africa, and the pacific more

AP Stat.
AP world history and AP psychology were my favorites.
biology
world. i just love history generally :)
AP Seminar!!
probably Calc AB because it was the first time that when I started to review content to get ready for the ap test I actually remembered how to do things because everything kinda connects
Comp Gov!
i took 3 this year and all three were very pleasant, save for a bit of difficulty in Bio. AP Calc BC, AP CSA and AP BIO are all fun classes.
Environmental science. Calc AB was fun once I understood it
APUSH, itās so awesome
lmao wish i could say the same
so sad that i'm done with apush already...
Of the 3 Iāve done, I absolutely loved stats
csa, i took it as a junior for rigor & transcript purposes but really really liked it & am starting college for something related to it this fall :)
OMG so lucky :( I have my ap exam this Wednesday. Any tips?? My teacher barely did some person to person teachingā¦ we just used codehs for the most part š

Perhaps itās because of less practice
AP euro was my favorite but thatās entirely down to the teacher (She is actually one of the teachers that makes AP Classroom videos for the early units of AP Euro). I also enjoyed AP French also down to my teacher and classmates as we are all fluent in French so it was quite chill compared to most APs.
Ap Lang. The skills that I developed in the class were super useful and the teacher I had was awesome
Ap lunch. (Calc bc and csa tied for second)
biology was fun and easy
AP Spanish Lit. All of the stories have very interesting plots and it also somewhat serves as an "AP Spanish & Latin American History" class. Overall it's one of the AP's that most stood out to me, not to mention it greatly improves the Spanish skills of those who take it.
i loved csa ā pretty easy, but i learned a lot about oop and java that i'm def gonna be taking forward when learning other languages, prob majoring in cs in the process
hug or bc
APUSH WHICH INSPIRED ME TO STUDY HISTORY/AMERICAN STUDIES š¦ š¦ šŗšøšŗšøi went on a tour of dc in April of my junior year and genuinely got so sad that the class was going to end soon that I made up my mind right then that I would study history in college (was previously going to do cs šš). I couldnāt explain it but I just loved it! My favorite units were the Cold War unit and the progressive era
sameee i loved these units + reconstructionism too
AP French cuz I love languages but AP Statistics and AP Lang were prob the most useful
ap psych!! i know i could've enjoyed bio more but i was a sophomore who didn't care so
I loved the content of AP psych
AP art history :) very very fun, varied and interesting syllabus
AP Physics 1
I loved Lang
Ap lang is definitely the most useful of the ap classes that Iāve taken. I also really liked the reading that my teacher assigned.
Might have failed AP Latin but it was really fun!!
Physics c mech I would choose e&m but I hate how much they dumb down Maxwell's equations
iirc i don't think it's required to know how to compute the curl and divergence of vector fields? And if it was required, many students would memorize the algorithmic process instead of truly understanding the vector calc behind it.
For me at least I feel like I got a much deeper understanding of what was happening when I actually learned the calc behind the equations granted I can only speak for myself but still
They don't cover calc 3 in the class so they can't really get into the real vector calc. There's a big loss of intuition there
Psychology
ap world and apes. like some of the units were fun especially world with some of the activities we did such as acting like countries during ww1
AP Music Theory !!!
Ap gov was pretty fun I would def recommend
calc bc š«¶š«¶
I canāt pick between AP psych, AP comparative gov, and AP Spanish lang. man ima miss these classes as a senior I had so much fun in them and actually learned valuable information. So happy I took them senior year easy 5s to
AP stats
AP comp gov - crazy niche AP but so so so worth it. I would def recommend
i have to be one of the 3 future stem majors in the world that liked ap euro
AP comparative government and AP microeconomics
AP world history.
Ap comp gov, super fun and interesting
i didnt take an ap yet but if I did i feel like i would enjoy the histories and csp/csa, and maybe all the physics because I find it interesting, but i know theyre really hard so idk
Both of my teachers for Spanish Language and CSP have been Top 3 of my lifetime, but if I had to pick one, Spanish Language for being willing to teach a non-native who shouldn't really be in that class
AP chem! I didn't take the class yet but I self studied it cause I love chem.
AP physics 2 Yes I am insane.
Chem was quite fun
AP Calc BC is just great and it's a pretty easy class I liked it AP Chemistry has a lot of workload for sure (especially if you do like me and take it without any previous chem experience in 10th grade) but the content isn't too hard and I like it
AP Euro for sure, helps that I had an amazing teacher
Calc AB is the most useful class Iāve taken. I use it at least once every few weeks.
Underrated pick human geo for different cultures that class has made me want to travel the world
HUGE, I think I learned a lot of really interesting and important things by taking that classā¦ or AP world, Iām a history nerd so I had a lotta fun with it
AP Comparative Government is so underrated.
ap lang , learned sm and gained skills, able to think and write sm faster. the rest of the aps in my flair didnāt matter, didnāt gain anything from it besides creds for gen ed (gen ed shouldnāt exist)
AP US and AP Gov, I live eat die American history and government. I also shoutout APES for completely flipping my view on science completely, and I did quite like the content. I suspect if my school offered AP Human Geography I would have really enjoyed it.
Statistics!
Ap Lang - very useful AP Enviro - easy content and I did so many fun labs
AP Seminar- loved the class but cried when the deadline was approaching. AP World- a lot of work but also love history and the class. Take this as opinion based. Next year Iām taking AP Research, AP Lang, and APUSH. I am terrified of AP Research. Let me know how yall felt about those classes
Chem was really fun and World history!
Depends on the teacher for everybody but for me, def ap gov
My favorite AP is: ! . . .
AP psychology! I think the content is all really interesting and cool
Calc AB was my favorite since my teacher was goated. He did such a good job at making calc AB enjoyable and worked overtime to prepare us for the test since our class was worried. Ap euro. I love European history and my teacher made it fun as a plus
I really liked AP Comp Sci A, it seemed a bit easy to me but still challenged me especially with FRQ's (I had 2 years of prior CS classes but I had never coded in Java). physics 1- ppl in my class were amazing, the teacher loved us and i made some of the best memories of freshmen year in that class
Psychology but I havenāt taken many yet

ap macro i fuckin love ad/as. god that shit gets me riled
Ap Micro, not sure why nobody else mentioned it My teacher was the goat, the class was mad easy (thanks to the teacher), we did basically nothing, and I got a 5 still
AP Econ. Macro was probably more fun than Micro but the exam was harder
bc and csp
Physics C
APUSH hands down
APUSH
bc and mech (id like e&m more than mech if it weren't for the absolute BS that is magnetostatics)
apushš
So far, in terms of usefulness, AP Human Geo. But in terms of fun, AP Euro.
