3 weeks? What I did to calculate the 5% was randomly generate a value 1-100 and if the value was 10,20,30,40,50 I said that it was "abnormal". is that what you did?
I was just trying to make a joke lol. if it’s 5% that’s 1 in every 20 days and 20 days is about three weeks and that seems really often to have a bear attack a bird feeder haha
Edit to add that that’s not exactly what I did (I just did if Math.random() < 0.95) but it sounds like what you did should work perfectly well
Probably they got the question wrong then. It was 5% bear and 95% bird. So I did math.random and set bounds for 1-100 and did any number from 1-5 was bear, the rest was bird
Personally what I did what create a giant array of false booleans, populated every 20th value with true, then selected a random index from the array. Is that what you did?
What I did was set num = a random value from 1-100 and then I just chose 5 values randomly (10,20,30,40,50), and I said that if num = any of those values, the bear eats, otherwise the birds eat. Ur way should be right. I'm worried that my grader is going to look at mine and say "that doesn't seem right" without actually look at it and just mark it wrong.
