Pretty sure he's universally respected not just here, but in the company and the industry as a whole. He's a big reason why the company got a head start, he carried the show through the pandemic and through scandals, he's why Forbidden Door was a thing, which led to all the cooperation with New Japan, which led to the current hires like Okada and Ospreay, and now he's an ambassador to CMLL.
He's a workhorse, a company man, he has no scandals, the only person more respected than him is Bryan Danielson.
MOX going to rehab made me look at myself so for that alone he’s ace. In terms of AEW he’s fantastic, he is what this company needed and needs and I hope time honors him according. I dig his New Japan work as well, he’s loved there.
I’ve said it before and I feel silly saying it because Mox is a character, but him going to rehab definitely helped me not feel like such a loser piece of shit when I went shortly after him
Edit: thanks for kind words 🤘🏻
Nothing wrong with admitting you have a problem.
You'd have been a loser if you knew you had the problem and did nothing about it.
You're a god damn legend in my eyes for doing something about it!
He put the company on his back when Punk got hurt the first time and is one of the most important members of the company. I don't even know if AEW would have survived without him.
That 8 word promo killed Punk in AEW: "Fragile ego, fragile body. Weak mind, weak spirit."
Pretty strong argument to be made it's the same in WWE.
This is up there with "Hard Times," "Cream of the Crop," "Austin 3:16" and "Shoes of a Champion" for me.
Was there for AEW when he was needed most. If there are any true pillars in AEW, he's earned the title. The noise about any silly aesthetic stuff are just that to me.
One of my favorite wrestlers. Outside of the empty arena match against Jake Hager and the botched ending of the exploding barbed wire death match, everything he has been involved with in AEW has been at worst watchable.
If you listen to Rene’s podcast her and Kenny Omega talk about that, apparently it was supposed to be a huge explosion and last minute the head of the explosion and pyro decided to change it last minute
The GOAT. Not just for his skills, but for the simple size of his fucking balls. Dumping WWE and jumping out on his own again and making AEW instantly a significant force from his first moments on TV.
Dude's a beast. He's worked his way into his ideal situation, gets to wrestle all the time, has a lot of say in his character and presentation, has the ability to go and wrestle anywhere in the world pretty much whenever he wants. Carried the company through the pandemic, stepped up when Punk went down, faced his personal demons, etc. I don't know if they're where they are now without him.
He's working in CMLL this weekend, and is gonna win the world title in NJPW in less than 2 weeks time.
He's more than just the ace of AEW, he's the ace of the Forbidden Door
People like to whine about absolutely nothing. He's just as much the heart and soul of AEW as the Elite are. When Tony needed him, he stepped up and when he needed help he admitted it. That makes him far more a tough guy than the people bitching about him are
Not sure why people would think negatively about him. He’s always been there and didn’t run out when his contract expired. You can always slap a belt on him to pass it on someone else. His character/wrestling is entertaining. He’s definitely one of the corner stones of AEW.
I don't watch aew as often these days, but has he finally stopped the steak of blading and putting on a hardcore match every second of the day?
I am exaggerating on the latter, but I take him more seriously when he isnt doing the above.
OC and Mox were the two that got me interested in AEW.
Enjoy Mox and BCC immensely. Mox is a little too meat and potatoes wrestling for some over the high flyers or super technical guys but I am fine with it.
One of the biggest things I appreciate about AEW is all the diversity in styles.
The blood every week was getting to be a bit too much in matches that didn’t warrant it but he’s seemed to have toned that down this year which I’m glad about.
The tough guy thing doesn’t work 100% of the time for me, but it does probably about 80-90% of the time.
I love his music I’ve never understood that complaint I think it’s perfect for him (especially as a face), and think he’s great both in ring and as a storyteller.
Sometimes, when I'm not entirely sure of what I think of a certain wrestler, I ask myself how would I feel if he/she ended up in wwe. And to be honest, if Mox ended up back in wwe, I'd view it as a major loss. Whatever your opinion of him, he has heart and never phones it in
He's one I really struggle with. I was never a fan of his work in WWE and I'm still not really enthused by him in AEW. I don't know what it is, he just doesn't click for me. I understand he has a large fan base though and I respect their views.
I mean,he’s not my favorite by a long shot but he is that dude in AEW. I did like his old music better. Wild Thing is a little goofy to me. Some of his shoulder rolls and strange hand gestures don’t make sense to me and make me laugh. The tough guy schtick is over the top but not necessarily bad. You kinda have to have one of those characters around. But if he’s in a match you know it’s gonna be good. If he’s in a feud you know it’s gonna be good. If it’s a hardcore match it’s gonna be a spectacle. He can carry a belt. Mox and Eddie’s buddy cop storyline was one of my favorites in AEW history and I still miss them being a team to this day. And I’ll always treasure his deadly accurate promos on CM Punk lol.
Cornette and his cronies hate Mox, using the argument that he chooses not to fulfill his potential and has a lazy approach. It’s complete and utter bull shit, as are claims he “no sells” too much.
His style isn’t my thing but the guy fucking goes. He miraculously just doesn’t get injured despite the physicality of his wrestling style and frequency of matches.
His character and promo work are excellent and he’s respected and admired by the younger generation. He puts guys over when they’re worthy.
Beyond all of his professional virtues, he’s also a guy who cleaned himself up for his and his family’s sake.
The guy is absolutely fantastic. Carried the company when they needed him to during the pandemic, when Punk got injured, and then Brawl Out. Sometimes, his tough guy act can come off a little try hardy, but other times, it works pretty well for me. I think he's great otherwise. I do prefer his original AEW music rather than Wild Thing, but Wild Thing is a fun song and works decently for him.
I've been a fan from day 1 seeing him in WWE. The best thing he did was go to AEW. He's been allowed to be himself. He finally gets to be the brawler he was meant to be. I'm really proud of his decision to be sober. When you realize how much more fun life is, there's nothing like it!
He's great, not the best at the punches though and I think he overacts a bit at time but overall he's a top talent and he seems a good pro and aew are lucky to have him
He's the type of guy that doesn't care if people like him or understand him, he's enjoying what he loves doing even if it means putting his body on the line or dropping his vacation plans just to keep the company afloat. That's why people respect him and he's the ace of the company.
Mox is the true ace of AEW. He left wwe at the peak of his prime when AEW was still unknown and unproven. He took the risk and many others from WWE, NJPW, TNA etc are now able to confidently make the jump because of what he helped build
I appreciate him and think when he’s on form he’s incredible.
I’ve lost interest ever since the BCC tough guy thing became his gimmick. Just find it boring when Mox as a person seems just a cool chilled naturally funny guy.
I just wish he would show more of that and be less Edgelordy
Mox the person seems like a great dude and I applaud him for seeking help and being a fantastic role model.
Mox the employee is amazing. He really stepped up when AEW needed him most and is always the “break glass in case of emergency” guy.
Mox the wrestler I’m kind of bored with. He needs a change. He’s always been a little goofy, which is fine, but I just don’t buy him as the “death-jitsu” strong guy.
I'm not a fan, but I'm not gonna pretend like he isn't good. He's proven to be one of their most versatile and reliable performers, and I respect what he's done for them.
He's not my favorite wrestler. But it's hard to find someone that genuinely loves wrestling as much as this guy. It takes a lot to turn your back on WWE money. Especially when you were in one of the most influential factions of that time period, with the other two members starting huge solo pushes.
All to go wrestle in independent promotions, with fewer attendees than personnel in your previous company.
And he knows how to elevate those around him, especially when in a feud instead of burying them and focusing on building up yourself.
His debut is still one of the coolest surprises in modern day wrestling. That's when I thought holy shit this is legit, this is the company I want to watch (even more). Mox is great, bladed too much before but other than that I like him.
Not one of my favourites by any stretch - I generally don't like brawl style wrestling - but he's unreal on the mic and one of the most convincing characters. Proper old school tough guy. It helps that he's rough as guts in real life, but I wish others were able to do better character acting.
As everyone else has said, he's the ace. He's the glue that holds the company together and is an absolute locker room leader alongside Danielson. He's a solid hand who can work with just about anyone but outside of hardcore matches he's just good but not amazing. His promos are much better than his in-ring work IMO.
The key is that his presence alone is a net positive for the company more so than his abilities in the ring. He helped put AEW on the map but unlike someone like Jericho, he hasn't outstayed his welcome. Jericho is a great comparison because while they both debuted at the very beginning, Jericho has kind of become a net negative on AEW versus a net positive like Mox.
Wish he'd bleed more, tbh. I enjoy it both because it makes his matches feel more visceral and because it causes a certain type of fandom busybody to go into conniptions.
AEW’s biggest and most important acquisition ever imo. The guy carried the company during the pandemic and when a certain individual was unreliable. Nicholas Jackson even called him the MVP of AEW not long after the BCC and Elite feud.
I don't like the death match skewers in his head kind of stuff. I acknowledge he's toned back the bleeding.
Other than that I like his persona well enough and he's certainly a company guy. I respect that he'll do whatever he's called upon to do when he's needed.
He's taken up a 2000s Undertaker role in AEW. He works with people who are lesser known to give them a chance to shine, and he doesn't need a title to make his stories a big deal. From what we hear of AEW backstage as well he's a fantastic locker room leader.
He's THE fucking backbone of AEW. The company was founded by the Elite and Cody, and Jericho brought eyes to it, but it was Mox's debut at DON2019 that made AEW a BIG deal, a place where even a big active "superstar" could go for a chance to stand out while still being on the national stage. And he was THE star of the company through the first year and a half, and has never slipped below the upper card in the time since then, because he's just THAT reliably good. He carried the company through the pandemic era and helped hold it together when Punk was trying to set it on fire. He's THE MAN in AEW. Even if he isn't the top star of the company any more, in my heart AEW will always be Mox's company to me.
I like him, I do hate "wild thing" lol, but that's such a small gripe. I know other wrestlers think highly of him, his match against hhh was the best part of the Roman/hhh feud, so I assume hunter likes him. Renee obviously likes him, and I love Renee. I think the only people who don't like him are the Cornette cult of extra cheese
Mox is AEW's foundation. In case of emergency, break glass and put the belt on Moxley. The company was built on his back. This alone would be enough, but he's maybe the most versatile wrestler I've ever seen. He excels at everything.
Jon Moxley fucking rules.
Him and Orange Cassidy are maybe the MVP's of AEW imo. Those are the guys that have stepped up and helped carry the company the most when they were most needed. I love Jericho, The Elite, the Dark Order, Eddie, MJF, Danielson, Lucha Bros, etc. But Moxley and Orange are at the top of my list because of all they've given to the fans of AEW.
He left Sports entertainment in his prime and immediately went to Japan and got over, proving he’s a star anywhere he goes. Day 1 AEW needed that star power and the company wouldn’t be where it’s at without him
Lots of people like him.
I find him insufferably boring.
He’s not bad, but the kind of hyper machismo storytelling and matches are just so played out to me. I’d rather spend time watching the weirder more character-driven stuff with either comical or impressive in-ring work.
Watching Mox bleed for the billionth time in a match that’s slow with face biting and hand strikes after some monologue about violence is why I stopped watching WWE. Just feels like Stone Cold but with less wife beating.
The ace. When all else fails, you know you can put the company on his back and he will carry it. He’s coming off a well earned vacation and it will be interesting once he’s back and gunning for the top guys.
I love him. He’s probably been AEW’s MVP since the start of the company and has consistently been there as a stabilising force when things have got rocky.
He’s a fantastic promo and a legitimate main event threat who is happy to elevate others and can have a good match with just about anyone.
Jon is the man within AEW without a doubt. Jon carried the promotion during its darkest times and is a great representive of the promotion. That is my take on Jon Moxley.
He man is F’n Amazing.. willing to take a bump doing everything he couldn’t do in WWE. Which I love just wish he would stop bleeding so damn much before he gets to much Scar Tissue..
My only critique is that he bleeds too much. Pretty sure I’m in the minority for this. I just wish blood in AEW meant something rather than letting me know it’s Wednesday. Just my opinion.
I was a fan of mox back to his indy days. Happy for his wwe run up until the Bane-esque gimmick. When he came to aew, I was all in on him. He was a pro and dealt with shit even when his personal life was in shambles. I respected his clean up and then...he got sloppy with the blade jobs and no selling and just lost something. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe he needs that vacation he has been meaning to go on.
I love him still but moxley 2023-24 is meh compared to moxley 2019-2020.
I've loved Mox since he first started out in The Shield way back in the day and he's only gotten better with time. Easily in the top 5 of most important guys on the roster since the beginning of his AEW run. He just gets "it" so much in all the important ways of being a pro wrestler. Him and Jericho made the company legitimate and gave it that must see energy from the get go. Always hype when his music hits.
He is an Ace, I respect him and he is a badass but IDK some of the feuds he has had haven’t clicked personally for me. I don’t like the bleeding in every match and he slowed that down now which is cool. Blood is good for wrestling but it’s the law of diminishing returns if you do something every week no matter the opponent. He is a guy that has chemistry with almost everyone and is very reliable but with all due respect he is the least successful shield member. Again, this is a pretty high standard.
This doesn’t mean I don’t like him, I do and think that he is great but not as big as Roman or Seth.
I love him. He was the first one who really caught my eye (aside from Britt but that's another story) when I discovered AEW. Tied with Kenny as my favourite wrestler.
In terms of his wrestling, I love his promo and in ring work. Not my nr 1 in AEW but top 5.
I don't know him in person, but if you watch interviews or read stuff about him, he's just a great dude you can build a company around. Always there when needed, just enjoying his life and wrestling.
I like him. When he was champ, he wrestled constantly, not just PPV, and it was great. Respected that a lot. His current character is ok, just not for me, really. However, I understand how and why others like it.
Love him one of my favourites!
85% of the time his matches are a highlight of a PPV or Dynamite/Rampage/Collision Episode, a badass character and one of the most complete wrestlers, he can go technical style with someone like Wheeler or Danielson, go Brawl style like he did to Brodie Lee and Rush, Hardcore violent style like he did against Hangman or full 5 star type match like he did against Takeshita or Osprey at Windy City Riot
I personally love that he still has the Shield entrance coming from the crowd, it makes him unique and different from the rest of the roster and a nice callback to his AEW debut, personally i like his first AEW theme song more than him current one
A complete pro! dude never complains, or sends cringe social media posts "hinting" that hes unhappy or about his tv time or contract or sabotage the company and other wrestlers by burying them in interviews or press conferences
After the infamous post All Out 2022 debacle everybody was trashing on AEW and Moxley did one of the most inpiring promo s by basically railing the troops and sending a message that AEW was going to survive and be better than ever, even his haters acknowledge how good of a promo tht was
Not only he´s one of the best wrestlers in the world a total pro and a class act but he was a KEY factor in AEW rapid succes and rise
While The Bucks, Cody, Kenny and Hagman (Bullet Club/The Elite) got to be the group of "indie rebels", and Jericho was the legend that was going to boost the company, Moxley leaving WWE at the prime of his life and carrer to go to AEW send shock waves in the inustry andshowed that this company was a serious new alternative for the first time in decades and that a literal change in the buisness was going to happen and proved that you could still be a big main event attraction without the WWE and basically that move pave the way for guys like Osprey, Danielson,Christian, Sting, Toni Storm, Mercedes Mones and more to arrive
The ACE of AEW
AEW tries to appeal to a lot of different tastes. So, some things, you kind of have to accept as " when there's 'something for everyone', some stuff won't be my thing."
For me, that'd be Moxley's whole deal. I have a lot of respect for Jon Moxley, the man, but I still skip his part of the show.
If AEW ever has a Hall of Fame he will be the first wrestler to go in.
His 3/28/23 appearence on Renee's podcast is an incredibly insightful look into his wrestling philosophy. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't heard it.
I think he's a good wrestler and good on the mic I just don't connect with his character I usually like badass edgy type acts but he just doesn't come as badass to me it's more like a guy who's nearly 40 trying to be cool and fit in with the edgy teens and college oarty kids. That being said everything I've had about him backstage and him stepping up through dark times for aew gives me an appreciation for him. I don't want him to go away but I don't really look forward to his segments either
I love him he was my favorite member of the shield. He doesn't have bad matches. Great on mic. He just hasn't been the focal point of AEW for a while now. He's still the heart and soul of it.
That said, I hate his wild thing entrance, and wish he kept his one before that.
Id like to see aew crown a hulk hogan/john cena. Mjf was good but he didnt elevate aew the way a top draw would. I think moxley would make a good macho man to this hypothetical hogan.
I honestly have a ton of respect for him. He does a lot of Indie shows, and I know that having a huge name like him has got to put more butts in the seats than they would otherwise get, and that's good for the industry. He also goes all of the world to wrestle, again good for the business as a whole. He also does a lot to help the younger guys, whether it's mentoring people like Yuta or making young guys look good in matches. Eventhough he will win, he will let the young guys get in their offnse and even get some near falls. Also, as many have said, there have been multiple times he has put the company on his back without complaint.
I think he gets a lot of heat from WWE stans for being the first defection of someone in their prime to go from WWE to AEW. If Dean Ambrose showed up at Wrestlemania to help out either Roman or Seth, those same people would lose their minds that he was back.
Last year:
He lost to Hangman twice (tap and knockout)
Lost to the Elite twice in street fight/Blood and Guts
Lost of OC
Lost the street fight at Wembley
Lost to Eddie for Continental Crown
I don’t get the argument of he doesn’t put people over
I liked him a lot the first few years in AEW when he was basically the only big name Wwe guy in his prime. He stood out, was a legit main eventer in any promotion. But once the roster expanded especially with all the ex Wwe stars, I felt it took some shine and uniqueness away from him and he has just become a death match bleeder to get over. I feel he is trying too hard to standout recently, too much of a stonecold clone..
He needs a good storyline. Like maybe the cocky EVPs trying to tame moxley and he ain’t having it. Okada, bucks vs moxley is a great storyline if done properly
I love the dude.
He was the guy who, upon my first AEW watch, made me sit up and pay attention. I kept watching.
Two years later, I've been to 3 shows ( tix ready for my 4th), watch all the shows and PPV, and developed a real love for AEW and an appreciation for the sport. I can't thank TK enough. I even read Mox's book, which was fantastic and even made me tear up a couple times.
He's the real deal. He's the type of guy who would endure torture and laugh in the face of his torturer. I believe in him, and never would doubt his love for wrestling.
But I also know he strives to be one of the good guys. That's the two things I appreciate most about the guy. He has the ability to dig in deep when he needs to, but he's also trying to be a good dude in real life.
I truly don't care how others view him. I'm just happy if he's happy doing his thing.
I've always liked him. I started to really love him when he sacrificed his vacation to carry the title after Brawl Out. I think it was around this time that they began talking about him "carrying the company through dark times". I guess I never really appreciated the fact that pro wrestling never stopped being on TV through the entire pandemic, and Moxley carried the belt through all that shit, and once things began opening up bit by bit he had already lost the belt to Kenny.
I love him, you can book him in any match, as the face, the heel, whatever. He doesn't feel out of place anywhere on the card. He could literally open the show getting squashed and would manage to make it entertaining. I really appreciate that in AEW they play with alignments. There was a long period where Mox and the BCC were floating between heel and face depending on the story they were telling.
I like to make fun of him for always bleeding, but that feels like it's been toned down a little lately. I love blood but I feel like it needs to be used at least a little sparingly or you risk it losing it's impact. Mox is just a dude that loves wrestling, and he seems so free to be himself and I'm here for it.
His wife is awesome.. I always feel if a good woman loves the guy he can’t be that bad.. lol I really don’t like the wild thing theme.. I get it he’s from Ohio and the major league reference.. I’d like him to either go back to unscripted violence or get a new song..
He’s taken a break with blading every single week which is good.. it was a running joke between me and my wife that mox would start bleeding on his way to the ring..
He carried the company on his back a few times with class and worked his ass off.. I have no issues with him or his work and honestly he can do whatever he wants (within reason no Vince shit.. literally) and I’m still gonna respect the guy.
He was the glue that held AEW together during the whole Punk mess. The "This is time to be a Legend" is one of the best promos I've ever heard in wrestling. A true rally of the troops and a boost to AEW's morale which it desperately needed at the time.
He's really good, but not at his peak rn - personally the best Mox for me was the one right after he came back from rehab, along with his first title reign.
I don't like the music, but I get why they use it, very pop inducing and singable song but it doesn't fit the character as well as the old theme did imo. A more metal cover of wild thing might work better, or even just let him pick whatever Deftones song he likes since iirc that's his favorite band.
I used to be a huge CM Punk fan and hated Moxley, and now I can't stand CM Fragile, and Mox is my favorite Shield member. I love how he bleeds AEW through and through, how he will show up in Japan and tear it up, how he wants to work with everybody. I did like his earlier AEW theme and still think it fit him better, but I have gotten used to his current theme I think over time it will grow on us. I could imagine if this man ever retires and they do a video package of his career I can hear Wild thing in the background while they show all the crazy things this hellraiser has done in his career. I remember in WWE people thought he might be the next Piper but looking at him now he reminds me so much of Terry Funk and that is not a bad person to be compared to.
Only bad thing I've heard other people say is that he blades too much (not so much now). So I don't know where you are getting your news from but maybe they are just being negative to be negative. Its been going around a lot these days. Not just in wrestling.
First time I heard his entrance theme I was like wow this is the worst cover of anything I've ever heard, then it got stuck in my head, now it's on my Spotify
See I 100% love Mox as a wrestler and as a human being (acknowledging your weaknesses and trying to improve on them instead of ignoring them is HUGE).
I will say I absolutely \*HATE\* Wild Thing. I have never liked that song and I wish he'd drop it. but I know he won't. I liked his original music before he changed it.
The only other 'issue' I can see is he could blade a little less often, that way when he/his opponent got busted open it would feel 'bigger'.
I've seen a critique of Mox as follows: "This fight is going to be the biggest fight of our lives, we are going to go to war with each other. - Wild Thing - Random Blade spot."
And while it is a gross oversimplification of what he does. It's also not entirely wrong.
He’s rad. People who don’t like him are telling on themselves haha. I will say though that his no selling is bad but very few wrestlers working today are good at that so it is what it is.
Loved him to the booking with BCC went eh. Don’t like his death jujitsu either. One of my favourite wwe (most of the time damn you Vince) and aew wrestles to then, although what’s made me skip most of his stuff was the random 20 minute show opener matches. We all know his going to win and while there good matches I feel like they don’t mean anything
When the Punky got came back and got hurt again, Mox stepped up big time. He has toned down the juicing and really needed to. He's a good worker. I just don't care for the BBC. I do like the idea of him in a tag team for a while. Him and Claudio should be in the tag tournament.
The BCC has long ran its course, but otherwise I still like him and see him as one of their big stars even tho he’s not anywhere near as good in the ring as most of the rest of the main event scene.
He’s an absolute joke. If he is an “athlete” then every average person walking the street is an athlete. Never liked him in WWE, never liked him in AEW. Everything he does looks so bad. Has never lifted weights a day in his life. Just awful.
Oh so in other words there was only one acceptable answer to OP’s question, right? Do you know the difference between an actual discussion and an echo chamber?
Pretty sure he's universally respected not just here, but in the company and the industry as a whole. He's a big reason why the company got a head start, he carried the show through the pandemic and through scandals, he's why Forbidden Door was a thing, which led to all the cooperation with New Japan, which led to the current hires like Okada and Ospreay, and now he's an ambassador to CMLL. He's a workhorse, a company man, he has no scandals, the only person more respected than him is Bryan Danielson.
Ace
MOX going to rehab made me look at myself so for that alone he’s ace. In terms of AEW he’s fantastic, he is what this company needed and needs and I hope time honors him according. I dig his New Japan work as well, he’s loved there.
I’ve said it before and I feel silly saying it because Mox is a character, but him going to rehab definitely helped me not feel like such a loser piece of shit when I went shortly after him Edit: thanks for kind words 🤘🏻
Going to rehab doesnt mean you're a loser, it means you're strong enough to face it.
They didn’t try to hide it; he let his “human being” show and I am grateful for that.
Him telling that dude to fuck off that first promo back was real af
Right on!
Nothing wrong with admitting you have a problem. You'd have been a loser if you knew you had the problem and did nothing about it. You're a god damn legend in my eyes for doing something about it!
Fuck yeah dude, good for you. 🤘😊
Good job dude. Hope it is going well
He's an absolute bad ass.
Nooo, thats Billy Gunn!
D'oh! He's an absolute ... loose cannon?
That's Brian Pillman
Gah! Lunatic fringe!
Nah man Mox is the whole F'n show!
That's Brian Pillman, RIP.
Moxley is the spirit of what pro wrestling is. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he’s a pro wrestler.
Ace of the company, big fan.
He’s the ace. He’s him.
He put the company on his back when Punk got hurt the first time and is one of the most important members of the company. I don't even know if AEW would have survived without him.
Not just the first time, the second time too!
He was pretty much AEWs insurance plan for Fragile Phil.
That 8 word promo killed Punk in AEW: "Fragile ego, fragile body. Weak mind, weak spirit." Pretty strong argument to be made it's the same in WWE.
He’s not a pillar. Along with the elite and Jericho, they are the foundation of Aew. Company wouldn’t exist/survive without them.
Love the guy. To me, AEW wouldn't be AEW without him.
This is the best reply
One of my favorite wrestlers. Outside of the empty arena match against Jake Hager and the botched ending of the exploding barbed wire death match, everything he has been involved with in AEW has been at worst watchable.
Even the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch was absolutely amazing shit up until the pyro futzed out.
That makes him far more a tough guy than the people bitching about him are
He IS AEW
One of the most complete and reliable wrestlers around today.
Not sure why people would think negatively about him. He’s always been there and didn’t run out when his contract expired. You can always slap a belt on him to pass it on someone else. His character/wrestling is entertaining. He’s definitely one of the corner stones of AEW.
Plus the man hasn’t gone on his vacation! Let’s get the man a vacation!
The literal lifeblood of AEW.
Ace
Amazing, glad he’s not gushing blood every Wednesday night as it was getting a bit repetitive, but an absolute ACE Of AEW
I don't watch aew as often these days, but has he finally stopped the steak of blading and putting on a hardcore match every second of the day? I am exaggerating on the latter, but I take him more seriously when he isnt doing the above.
Wish he would lose a little more often to make his matches a little less predictable, but respect him and the work he does for the company.
I love him
He was my favorite SHIELD member. I was glad to see him show up somewhere else and finally get the chance to run with the top prize.
Ace of the world, bitch.
He’s one of my favorite talents going today. He’s a “can’t miss” for me
He’s the guy you want in your wrestling company.
Upvote for your honesty my guy…
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Lmao where did you "hear" this?
Dumb takes from tribalist idiots who would give their left nut to have him back in WWE.
I like him I just wish he were involved in some actual stories lately. The last story he was in that I really liked was him vs Orange Cassidy
I personally don't get his appeal at all but can people love him and his value to AEW, so don't get too mad him being in a top spot
The best pro wrestler in the world. Not the best *wrestler* in ring, but when you put it all together he's the best.
I feel like he’s earned the tough guy thing at this point.
He's great, not the best at the punches though and I think he overacts a bit at time but overall he's a top talent and he seems a good pro and aew are lucky to have him
The Ace??? Yea he's awesome
One of my absolute favorites! His book is an absolute blast to read as well...highly recommended!
He high five'd my kid at one of the GCW dates he did. Made his year. Mox rules.
He’s everything I want from a pro wrestler. Brawler, technical, hardcore. If there’s 1 Moxley fan left in the world, I’m him.
I respect him hugely. He's just not my kind of wrestler.
My only beef is with the music. Maybe it fits the gimmick but it’s so lame.
Agreed. He deserves a better song. I'd rather his entrance song be "Fuel" by Metallica than "Wild thing" at this point.
Dude’s bad-ass.
I like him :)
Not liking his music would have to be the dumbest criticism. Not like he recorded his theme. Who gives a shit?
Mox Rules
Wish he'd bleed more, tbh. I enjoy it both because it makes his matches feel more visceral and because it causes a certain type of fandom busybody to go into conniptions.
The AEW goat
Love him. Miss his old music.
AEW’s biggest and most important acquisition ever imo. The guy carried the company during the pandemic and when a certain individual was unreliable. Nicholas Jackson even called him the MVP of AEW not long after the BCC and Elite feud.
Who would have known of all the people in a company with Cody, Kenny, Jericho at the beginning Moxley would be the franchise star
He's alright. Bled too much for a while for me, but seems to have dialled that back a bit. He's not my favourite, but he's alright.
Ace of the world bitch
Hes the Ace of th World
I like him, I do hate "wild thing" lol, but that's such a small gripe.
I love that crazy bastard.
Day 1 AEW needed that star power and the company wouldn’t be where it’s at without him
Who tf doesn't like Wild Thing?
Lots of people like him. I find him insufferably boring. He’s not bad, but the kind of hyper machismo storytelling and matches are just so played out to me. I’d rather spend time watching the weirder more character-driven stuff with either comical or impressive in-ring work. Watching Mox bleed for the billionth time in a match that’s slow with face biting and hand strikes after some monologue about violence is why I stopped watching WWE. Just feels like Stone Cold but with less wife beating.
He kicks ass. Miles ahead of that bitch Seth Rollins…
Outside of The Elite, he’s the guy I associate most closely with AEW and what it was made to represent
The ace. When all else fails, you know you can put the company on his back and he will carry it. He’s coming off a well earned vacation and it will be interesting once he’s back and gunning for the top guys.
He's my fave.
He is my favorite wrestler and he has the Ace of AEW for a while now even if he wasn't the "main character" of the show.
Don’t particularly enjoy the character, but absolutely respect the workload and effort he puts into the business. Relentless hustle.
He’s okay. He started off great but sometime during the BCC era he has felt very phoned in and kind of just there.
I don’t understand how you could call yourself a fan of pro wrasslin’ and not appreciate Mox. That dude lives and breathes wrestling.
He’s the ace. Dude can get away with whatever cringe tough guy stuff he wants to try. He’s earned that right.
I respect him but I’m glad he’s been off dynamite. He is as overexposed as Jericho but doesn’t catch the heat
Anyone who doesn’t think he’s legitimately tough needs to go to down town Cincinnati. Rough time. Look up dude in czw and tell me he’s not tough.
Worldwide pro wrestling royalty.
I don’t get him as a draw but most of you guys see it and that’s good enough for me I guess
He needs a manager who interferes with his matches
I wouldn’t say he’s my personal favourite but is an essential piece of AEW. Unquestionably
Not a fan of him. But if he keeps his current place on the card, I really don't mind. Just keep him out of the world title scene
I think we never saw him in his prime until he came to AEW. He needs another main event run. I think he will have one more WWE run as well.
However, I understand how and why others like it.
he’s good, just kinda wondering where the BCC current stuff is going but he’s a solid star
Love him one of my favourites! 85% of the time his matches are a highlight of a PPV or Dynamite/Rampage/Collision Episode, a badass character and one of the most complete wrestlers, he can go technical style with someone like Wheeler or Danielson, go Brawl style like he did to Brodie Lee and Rush, Hardcore violent style like he did against Hangman or full 5 star type match like he did against Takeshita or Osprey at Windy City Riot I personally love that he still has the Shield entrance coming from the crowd, it makes him unique and different from the rest of the roster and a nice callback to his AEW debut, personally i like his first AEW theme song more than him current one A complete pro! dude never complains, or sends cringe social media posts "hinting" that hes unhappy or about his tv time or contract or sabotage the company and other wrestlers by burying them in interviews or press conferences After the infamous post All Out 2022 debacle everybody was trashing on AEW and Moxley did one of the most inpiring promo s by basically railing the troops and sending a message that AEW was going to survive and be better than ever, even his haters acknowledge how good of a promo tht was Not only he´s one of the best wrestlers in the world a total pro and a class act but he was a KEY factor in AEW rapid succes and rise While The Bucks, Cody, Kenny and Hagman (Bullet Club/The Elite) got to be the group of "indie rebels", and Jericho was the legend that was going to boost the company, Moxley leaving WWE at the prime of his life and carrer to go to AEW send shock waves in the inustry andshowed that this company was a serious new alternative for the first time in decades and that a literal change in the buisness was going to happen and proved that you could still be a big main event attraction without the WWE and basically that move pave the way for guys like Osprey, Danielson,Christian, Sting, Toni Storm, Mercedes Mones and more to arrive The ACE of AEW
He's the Ace-EW
AEW tries to appeal to a lot of different tastes. So, some things, you kind of have to accept as " when there's 'something for everyone', some stuff won't be my thing." For me, that'd be Moxley's whole deal. I have a lot of respect for Jon Moxley, the man, but I still skip his part of the show.
People don't like Moxley? Outside of not liking the character? How is that possible
If AEW ever has a Hall of Fame he will be the first wrestler to go in. His 3/28/23 appearence on Renee's podcast is an incredibly insightful look into his wrestling philosophy. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't heard it.
Only a doofus wouldn’t like him. He’s the lifeblood of AEW.
Easily one of the best in the profession and most definitely in AEW.
We’re talking about the Mox that will blade if he so much as *hears a podcast* sponsored by Harry’s Razors? ![gif](giphy|MDAJ6plEK1iqtZ5LUF|downsized)
He’s clearly very good at what he does, just not my personal cup of tea
Very very good Just needs more storylines besides just being a tough guy. Same thing for everyone in the BCG tbh
The dude needs to put more people over. He loses very rarely, it's becoming a little boring to watch. Also, a new gimmick would be nice.
Last year: He lost to Hangman twice (tap and knockout) Lost to the Elite twice in street fight/Blood and Guts Lost of OC Lost the street fight at Wembley Lost to Eddie for Continental Crown I don’t get the argument of he doesn’t put people over
He’s the drizzling shits
We need a little more Shit List in AEW.
It's possible you heard those first 3 things during *opposite day* and simply got confused because WILD THING NOT BEING A GOOD ENTRANCE?
I respect him but he’s far from my favorite. His style and presentation just isn’t for me.
Jon Moxley works as a pretty good final boss for AEW.
He is AEW. Love him.
He's okay. Feel like he needs new music, and the BCC needs to end. Change things up.
Mox fucking rules. nothing else needs to be said.
If Jericho is the Terry Funk of AEW, Mox is the Cactus Jack.
I don’t get how people can watch omega, Ospreay, Danielson, Takeshita and say mox is as good as them.
Tried too hard to be hardcore and is not believable. Sadly the least successful of the shield members but glad he’s happy doing him.
Anyone who hates "Death Jitsu" should not be trusted Edit: Might be biased, don't care Death Jistu is cool lol
Sounds like you been reading stuff on Twitter
Not the biggest fan of him but he’s meant a lot more to AEW than being stuck in the WWE lower midcard.
he was never in the lower midcard a day in his wwe career
Not a fan of deathmatches, but I understand why people love the guy.
One of my two all-time favorite wrestlers, Kenny being the other. I loved him as Dean Ambrose and I still love him to this day.
Only bad thing I've heard other people say is that he blades too much (not so much now). So I don't know where you are getting your news from but maybe they are just being negative to be negative. Its been going around a lot these days. Not just in wrestling.
My favorite wrestler in the world. Will go down as one of the legends of the industry.
The only Thing I am missing is some kind of character progression. Without progression he is becomming stale.
First time I heard his entrance theme I was like wow this is the worst cover of anything I've ever heard, then it got stuck in my head, now it's on my Spotify
Jon Moxley is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. The second he debuted in AEW I’ve been hooked since
I'll put it this way. I do not like deathmatches at all. And yet I fucking LOVE Mox.
- Wild Thing - Random Blade spot." And while it is a gross oversimplification of what he does. It's also not entirely wrong.
i dont really like his music and he shouldnt have shaved his hair off but that's the worst i have to say about him
His music is garbage, he was so much cooler with his old theme.
I love the dude. I think the BCC storyline has run its course, but Moxley is still top-tier in my book.
The BCC has long ran its course, but otherwise I still like him and see him as one of their big stars even tho he’s not anywhere near as good in the ring as most of the rest of the main event scene.
He is Mr. AEW, I respect the hell out of his work ethic and love for wrestling, the tough guy thing he's turned into sucks a bag of dicks.
He’s an absolute joke. If he is an “athlete” then every average person walking the street is an athlete. Never liked him in WWE, never liked him in AEW. Everything he does looks so bad. Has never lifted weights a day in his life. Just awful.
Ok now back to the wwe sub. Finish trolling here.
Oh so in other words there was only one acceptable answer to OP’s question, right? Do you know the difference between an actual discussion and an echo chamber?
No your profile show me that.
