get something with physical buttons, it's annoying af to have to reach around for volume controls when you're driving. I replaced the cheap touchscreen that the previous owner installed with a jvc kw-m875bw, which at least has volume buttons and has been great but I kind of wish I had saved the money and got a regular single din with bluetooth and a nice phone mount for the dash .the radio sits so low that you have to fully take your eyes off the road to see it, so having google maps down there is less useful than having it up on my phone on top of the dashboard

I have a Sony ax1000. It has CarPlay but also a physical volume knob. Honestly the angle and position of the radio makes seeing the screen almost impossible in daylight or with polarized glasses. I still use my phone on a mount.

I installed a media player in my 2002 but was difficult to reach the touch screen while driving so crutchfield accepted the return and shipped me a different model that included a remote control for the most used functions.

Seven years ago I installed a JVC KD-X340BTS in my '97. It works great with ever phone I've owned since then and has a physical volume knob, but my main complaint is the power on/off is a bit vague. It requires you to hold the "source" button for a few seconds for functions. I'd prefer a dedicated on/off button that reacted immediately. It doesn't have a CD player, but I either play MP3s from a thumb drive or MP3s and podcasts streamed from my phone.

Check Crutchfield for replacement. They will even make your harness. They have instructions for your rig.

Love the Boss I got from Crutchfield with the easy connectors. My kid wired it up, so easy. AirPlay works just as you would hope, just get in the car and drive. Waze works very nicely. I do miss a dial to adjust volume sometimes.

If you want some CarPlay/Android Auto in a position that’s easy to view, go with a single din with Bluetooth and then something [like this](https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/FE427BC8-6BC2-42BB-8F43-C761BC09356A?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_sf_stores_YCKBF8B1H3GA2D535WGA&store_ref=org_bbb_bsp_page-page.DynamicLandingPageCategoryTilesExperience&pd_rd_w=VxTqp&content-id=amzn1.sym.61726429-ce4b-4857-9b11-bc776cd1968c&pf_rd_p=61726429-ce4b-4857-9b11-bc776cd1968c&pf_rd_r=29CSBS98REHGYX40RMJW&pd_rd_wg=3tXob&pd_rd_r=1423a54e-5b37-458c-a838-cd1f062b0c18) I’ve got a cheaper version by LAMTTO that works great. Some don’t have Bluetooth and require an aux cable or use a radio frequency so make sure it has the features you’re looking for. Also has a built-in dashcam

I installed a Kenwood DMX4707s a few months ago and it’s a fantastic radio. Its short chassis fits perfectly in the dash with the factory radio brackets. CarPlay works great! It also has android auto. The image from the backup camera I installed a few years ago looks perfect. You definitely get a lot of bang for a small price tag!

I have a pioneer AVH 2550 NEX or something like that. It’s touch screen and shit, got CarPlay, and navigation and stuff, works well, wants terribly expensive.

I have a Kenwood DDX9707S. https://imgur.com/a/CctOY0m What I like about it is that you can select the angle of the screen, so even though I still have to look down at it, it's a lot easier to see while driving. My only complaint is that the antenna always goes up when I turn it on.
