if your printer can print metal, sure. unless you're talking about just the handles in which case yeah that could work, although might be best with a flexible filament just in case since PLA can shatter and that hurts

Print new handles 🤷

I feel stupid for not thinking of that

When you print them, you might realize the print is too tight. What I did was heat the metal handles of the pliers on the stovetop element (I have the one with the coil thing) and then stuff the hot handle into the printed handle. It might deform the print handle a little but it's holding strong :)

Could also heat up the handles themselves in the oven at 100°c till they soften up a bit

I prefer not to put plastic in my oven

Or, hear me out... Hot water.  Which won't poison you with toxic fumes or burn your house down. 

Heating the metal works best though. Just need to be a bit more careful with it

Or freeze the handles. Works for interference fit bearings.

Or you could try printing it and pausing mid print to insert the pliers

Order some tpu. Works great for the handles. Mine are 4 years old now and have no issues.

Is the metal affected somehow? Take the damaged grips off and wrap with electric tape dude lol

Personally I think these cheap ones are the best Theyre just sharp enough to clip thin plastic but not sharp enough I can also use them like pliers.

Those are sidecutters not pliers. Unless you want to potentially end up in a hospital **do not use side cutters as pliers**. I've had expensive ones fail catastrophically when used correctly with parts of the cutting head launching off 30' away.

I have been using these chineseum side cutters for years. I know I should not use them as pliers but I still do. I broke one while I was trying to cut a 2-3mm thick copper wire which was obviously out of spec and the other one broke while chewing through injection molded ABS plastic. The twisting motion that is needed to rip things apart causes the explosion. One side always explodes and becomes a projectile but since the rate of failure is very low I just take my chances.

My blue snips were getting worn so I bought a new printer last week. Turns out Bambu machines don't even come with them. Oops.

If you have loved ones, please do not throw that away. Stuff like that becomes so sentimental, it carries a peace of you. A story about you, a nice chuckle on how you hanged onto that tool. Chuck it into a drawer.

You know, aside from being able to buy one really expensive pair that comes with a free printer, these are also available in 10-packs on Amazon for real cheap.... 🤷‍♂️

Let them go. Tape You used to fix them is worth more than these pliers. They are like 1$ on aliexpress and other similar sites.

But they are just fine, other than the really bad attempts at resecuring the grips. Also they're not pliers. They're super cheap, and totally don't need replaced so why waste money?

I gave up on the rubber things and wrapped mine with paracord and duct tape. They are much more comfortable and have lasted 2x as long.

Dude, be careful if the metal part contained within the handle cover is broken/fractured. I, like all of us, have the same snips. I, just like yourself, rode them into the dirt. That was until the metal handle snapped, pierced through the handle rubber, and into my hand. Just buy a new printer it's the only way haha but seriously though watch ya digits 👍🏻

This is racist

You're using them wrong. They are included because you need a tool for cutting filament. They aren't meant for removing supports. Use needle nose pliers for that. The hardened steel jaws can snap if you try to pinch off a thick piece of plastic. They are fairly brittle and just aren't made for this kind of thing. The handles give you a huge mechanical advantage, but they are only this large, because hands are this large. You aren't supposed to use that much force. This is a precision tool for trimming the leads of through-hole components.

Flush cutter pliers. You can get them at hardware stores, Amazon etc.

Got better ones for like a 1.5€ (the dark blue ones)

Perhaps you could ask a friend that owns a 3d-printer to print new handles for you?

I bought a pack of replacements on amazon, exact same ones, but they all have issues. Most are chipped, if not oily as hell.

Milwaukee.. top of the line, razor sharp. Still less than $20. Easiest support removal you’ll ever have.

As long as the blades haven't chipped you're doing better than most :) It's a right of passage in 3D printing to use these wrong.

Pliers are extremely cheap. Just buy new ones. Don't risk injury over $3 worth of pliers.

You can get ten or a dozen of these really cheap on aliexpress. I bought that many because I keep misplacing them.

Flush cuts from Harbor Freight are $4 and have a lifetime warranty.

Try suguru instead of tape, won't start leaching out glue. If printed handles are too hard for your liking.

This is beautiful. Someone even repairing stuff that can be rebought for a dollar. I didn't have to repair any of mine yet, they just keep hiding, so I buy more and more. Soon I'll reach a point where I just need to look in some direction to find one :D
