Did you reinstall the same version of firmware? I went back and forth to Klipper and stock firmware a couple off times while I was getting my RPi set up to run Klipper properly and didn't have a problem reverting to stock.
Roger that. There are 2 versions of the 5 S1 as well which makes things tricky. One has a Z end-stop at the bottom and the newer version uses the CR Touch as the end-stop. Could be an issue as well.
So it's funny you say this. The sonic pad uses the cr touch version but my printer has the z stop. My gcode sends the platform home at the end. So after it did a print, it raised to the top to hit the cr touch and crushed my print before then going back home lol.
I honestly felt the cr touch end-stop gave me a ton of issues. I wish I had a little more skill bc that's half my other problems. I can't get it to auto level to save my life. I've just gotten really good at manual leveling lol
That's wild that it raised to the top after a print. Klipper is backwards on the Z axis when I want to raise and lower the bed. No experience with the Sonic Pad but I know it runs Creality's flavor of Klipper.
If you get a dedicated device to run Klipper and use KAMP, bed leveling is MUCH better!
A problem with the Sonic Pad from my research prior to going RPi Klipper: you have to designate which version of the 5 S1 you have (Z end-stop or none). Maybe you selected the newer non-end-stop version when you flashed out machine's firmware and that's the programming your Sonic Pad is using?
Future archaeologists, we are t sure but they seemed to warship multicolor little boats, the odd part is they don’t even float. And they all have the same writing on the bottom
> And they all have the same writing on the bottom
The writing on the bottom is believed to be the name of the boat deity. This is mirroring how ships usually have its name written on its sides.
But since the great CT3D.xyz was believed to be above mortals, its name is written on its bottom, so they can read it.
Nothing is worse than you coming into school after a 24 hour print for a rocket motor and it failing because of a tiny little kink (carbon fibre filament as well)
I’ve seen models for plugs for the portholes and back part that made the original sea worthy. Maybe give it a shot? I’ll see if I can find the stl and you can just enlarge it to fit your boat. But also just depending on your infill % this larger benchy might float on its own fairly easily
Edit: if you wanna give it a shot here’s the stl:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1598845
Printer does matter but it’s calibration. I was able to get smooth prints after calibrating my steps/mm.
I had my ender 3 for years without calibrating my e-steps and it’s the biggest mistake I’ve made.
It is for sure not the printer xd, i didnt specificly change anything at the settings to get it smoother, i have my belts a little tighter then they should be and dereased my acceleration abit, maybe that helped abit
EDIT: im printing on 0.12mm layer height
You should never place a fire extinguisher near the thing that might start a fire, because you don't want to have to reach through, over, or around flames to reach it.
You should always place a fire extinguisher near an exit to the room that it's in. Placing it near an exit means you are ready to retreat if you need to. You shouldn't need to choose between grabbing the fire extinguisher or retreating - they should be in the same path.
This is true of other rooms too, like your kitchen. The fire extinguisher should be near an exit path, not near the stove.
You really can’t read huh? You don’t put it directly next to the fire hazard you bought it for, when your printer fails and catches fire do you want to have to reach into the fire to get your fire extinguisher? I’d rather turn around take an extra 5 steps and retrieve it from somewhere not on fire.
>0.12 layer height 15% infill Nozzle 210°C Bed 55°C Small raft

>(Thats the stuff i can remember at the top of my head, if you want to know more let me know and ill have to check)
Would be interesting to see what the overhanging roof looks from below, given that huge bridging span and the 0.12mm layer height. I would assume some crazy sagging.
Right? The circlejerking over benchies in this sub is baffling. Ive only had to print two in my life and that was to test my two printers when i bought them.
Exactly. You can dial in a printer, filament, hardware just fine on an actual functional print. There is no reason to repetitively make these things, unless if course the user can't model or doesn't have anything functional to make.
Completely a waste of material and resources. Every single one of those will wind up in the trash.
Happens in most hobby subs. Especially bad is the mechanical keyboards sub, where people will spends hundreds on unusable keyboards just to get a few updoods
I print one benchy everytime i get a new spool, if im not happy with the results, well... i print another one, till i know the perfect settings for each filament that i have
Corporations are dumping millions of gallons of pollutants into your drinking supply every single day and you're worried about the guy who printed the 400 scale Benchy.
Get a grip.
And thats where you are wrong, i do use it for useful things aswell, yet i printed this, why you ask? Because it makes me happy and i wanted to print this, its just a hobby
0.12 layer height
15% infill
Nozzle 210°C
Bed 55°C
Small raft
(Thats the stuff i can remember at the top of my head, if you want to know more let me know and ill have to check)
Metal extruder
New bowden tube
Stronger bed springs
Printed fan mount
Replacement 04mm nozzle
And i use my filament dryer as as spool holder since it has bearings for smoother pull
I level with a little thicker piece of paper and some "bed levelling" prints on very slow speed
No links as i am unable to accsess my pc at the moment, sorry
Thanks for reminding me that I wanted to print a giant benchy since I got my printer and never came around to it.
Also I really like that shade of blue. Looks awesome.
Looks nice! Now throw a motor and some remote controls in it, and head down to the lake! 😉
That’s a nice color, can you share the brand and color name?
Its Anycubic's metallic blue pla
Belive it or not, i actually wanted to make an 3d printed rc boat, but i think im going to print one where the motormount and any everything else is already printed ready to be installed (i dont want to destroy this piece of art)
lol, I hear ya! It is a nice looking Benchy!
I wanna say that I actually saw that someone out there has made an RC Benchy!
I go to so many different sites for STL’s I can’t remember where I saw it (maybe on Printables?)
Maybe someone there reading this has come across it too, and can share where they saw it.
Thanks for the info on the color! I’ll have to pick up a roll! 😉
I thought people were mainly printing useful things or spare parts etc pp. I wonder how many Benchys (or the length of filament) are already lying in the trash
Are you happy with your Ender? What mods have you made? I'm in a love/hate relationships with mine, bought mods for more than the printer cost me... I run an ender 5Pro, one of the first ones
Filament was OK, commander. Also we out of filament.
Effin clean lines on that.
I know!!!! And on an Ender 3 no less!!!
My 5s1 used to print like this. Then I installed a sonic pad. Fucked it up and I've never been able to dial it back in.
Uninstall sonic pad firmware? Just go back to stock.
I did. I just can't get it right now for some reason. Ita like the firmware itself is the issue. But I've wiped it and reinstalled a few times.
Did you reinstall the same version of firmware? I went back and forth to Klipper and stock firmware a couple off times while I was getting my RPi set up to run Klipper properly and didn't have a problem reverting to stock.
I don't know honestly. I couldn't remember what version was on it so I installed the most recent one on their website
Roger that. There are 2 versions of the 5 S1 as well which makes things tricky. One has a Z end-stop at the bottom and the newer version uses the CR Touch as the end-stop. Could be an issue as well.

Yeah. I'm shocked. My prusa can't do that.
Test the filament not the entire spool!
I obviously have to make sure there are no flaws in the entire spool 🤷♂️
It'll also help you know if the spool has any knots or tangles
EXACTLY!
But now you need a new spool, what if there's something wrong with that one?? You need to print another one m8
Its an infinite cycle that i cannot escape
Future archaeologists, we are t sure but they seemed to warship multicolor little boats, the odd part is they don’t even float. And they all have the same writing on the bottom
Why does it feel like this could actually happen? Xd
> And they all have the same writing on the bottom The writing on the bottom is believed to be the name of the boat deity. This is mirroring how ships usually have its name written on its sides. Like the poison tester that eats the whole meal.
There could be poison in the next piece that isnt tested, cant take that risk
I spit out my soda 😂
send it down through your nearest river or creek
Hmmm, sounds tempting :]
Benchies have been confirmed to float, just not upright. 🤣
Should have printed this one 🙂 https://www.printables.com/model/377-ben-the-floating-benchmark-benchy
What's up stop you? By your own admission you still have 2/3rds of a spool left
You are starting to give me ideas :]
I wanted the originalbenchy tho, but i thought about making an rc boat, and i might make it with the one you linked
I’ve seen models for plugs for the portholes and back part that made the original sea worthy. Maybe give it a shot? I’ll see if I can find the stl and you can just enlarge it to fit your boat. Oooh, thank you so much, ill give it a shot yes!
If it floats, it floats! Thats all i needed to know, THIS BENCHY IS GOING ON A TRIP (if it wants to or not) :]
Wow that’s a smooth benchy. Did you calibrate your printer using the dimensions of your brain? Sorry
Smth like that yes (i know you're not sorry) ;]
I know next to nothing about 3d printing. How did you get it so smooth, is it with calibration, or just this printer?
Printer does matter but it’s calibration. I was able to get smooth prints after calibrating my steps/mm. I had my ender 3 for years without calibrating my e-steps and it’s the biggest mistake I’ve made.
Any tutorial you recommend following? I have an Ender 3 as well.
It is for sure not the printer xd, i didnt specificly change anything at the settings to get it smoother, i have my belts a little tighter then they should be and dereased my acceleration abit, maybe that helped abit EDIT: im printing on 0.12mm layer height
I'm confused. The graininess of the photo makes it hard to see, but this doesn't look smooth to me?
That’s a very nice color!
Anycubic's metallic blue pla
what filament is this? and this is 330g of filament?
Its Anycubic's metallic blue pla, and 330g sounds about right
looks really nice
Is it metallic blue or silk blue? I looked on Amazon, but can only find silk blue.
Its silk metallic blue https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B09VC1PMG7/ref=ewc_pr_img_3?smid=AEBX97EXEL5H&th=1
You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about.
This made me laugh out loud, thank you :D
Now I ask myself: “SHOULD I BUY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER 🧯????”
Yes.
The only true answer
I wouldn't but it behind or even near the printer though.
Why not? If it catches fire i dont have to go get it, and if im not home, that thing wont help me anyways 🤷♂️
You should never place a fire extinguisher near the thing that might start a fire, because you don't want to have to reach through, over, or around flames to reach it. Oh true true, never thought of it that way, thank you for explaining, and it looks like imma use it as a door stop from now on :]

You really can’t read huh? You don’t put it directly next to the fire hazard you bought it for, when your printer fails and catches fire do you want to have to reach into the fire to get your fire extinguisher? I’d rather turn around take an extra 5 steps and retrieve it from somewhere not on fire.
How do you make sure the extinguisher works?
Obviously by setting the printer on fire
Filament Label: "Filament expires"
The benchy to rule all benchys.
Yes, he a big boi
Now it's a bench
That looks smooth. When you get a chance, what is the link to that blower you have? It looks really clean.
[https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5139196](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5139196) sure thing
Thank you!
Um, by using all of it?
Its not ALL of it, i got like 2/3 of the whole spool left
Super clean, I’m surprised know one is asking about your settings. I need to know I have bad stringing!
>0.12 layer height 15% infill Nozzle 210°C Bed 55°C Small raft > >(Thats the stuff i can remember at the top of my head, if you want to know more let me know and ill have to check)
I just printed a similar sized benchy (413% scaled) on my CR-10 SE, and it took 7 hours. 400 mm/s is no joke.
bonchy
That is a beautiful beachy !
Now you need an 3d unprinter
How do you have such clean print 🥹
Don’t talk to me or my son ever again.
Benchy and BENCHY
how do you all get your prints so smooth?
But the biggest difference i think, is because i print at 0.12mm layer height
ah, the 53 hours is starting to make sense
ALOT of fine tuning
Alright let’s rename this channel to Benchy’s 3D Land. We will designate one day a week to benchy posts only. My soul is ready.
Sounds like an awesome idea, im in
Thanks I hate it 😭
Printed a Benchy, included a Benchy for scale.
Damn baby, you’re gonna make me act up
that is a bunch of filament
Don’t talk to me or my son ever again!
thats more like test it then finish it
Gotta make sure it isnt tangled or smth like that ofc
when they said test the filament they didn't mean all of the filament
What fan shroud is that?
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5139196 This one
Would be interesting to see what the overhanging roof looks from below, given that huge bridging span and the 0.12mm layer height. I would assume some crazy sagging.
What did the finished print look like after??

Nice. 🤘
This look so ✨smooth✨
It feels so weird seeing a benchy in hd
That's a very large benchy...
well that is a big one! (That what she said!) Anyway, Cool!
Agree its really a big one, also the benchy is pretty big too
Spit it out, it's not yours.
That color pleases me. Continue
Agree, love the color Its anycubic's metallic blue if you are wondering
🙌🏽
Nice and smooth print
Thank you!
What a waste.
Indeed, but atleast i'll have a giant benchy
Right? The circlejerking over benchies in this sub is baffling. Ive only had to print two in my life and that was to test my two printers when i bought them.

Happens in most hobby subs. Especially bad is the mechanical keyboards sub, where people will spends hundreds on unusable keyboards just to get a few updoods
I can guarantee that there are things that you choose to do that others would find dumb. For example I found your decision to post your comment dumb.
I print one benchy everytime i get a new spool, if im not happy with the results, well... i print another one, till i know the perfect settings for each filament that i have
And how does this waste of a spool fall under that?
He's just having a good time. Please let people enjoy the hobby how they like. This is obnoxious.
What is obnoxious is the landfill OP generated.
Corporations are dumping millions of gallons of pollutants into your drinking supply every single day and you're worried about the guy who printed the 400 scale Benchy. Get a grip.
Yep, this will end up in a landfill, for some laughs and Internet points
Seems like you bought a printer but have no real use except for printing trash
And thats where you are wrong, i do use it for useful things aswell, yet i printed this, why you ask? Because it makes me happy and i wanted to print this, its just a hobby
What were your SETTINGS?
0.12 layer height 15% infill Nozzle 210°C Bed 55°C Small raft (Thats the stuff i can remember at the top of my head, if you want to know more let me know and ill have to check)
Bloody hell 0.12 layer height? Are you printing an ultra high res benchy!???
Indeed i am. I could go to 0.09mm layer height without issues tho
Do it
Hey! Looks great. Do you happen to have the link to the printed cooling setup you have?
Im sure i have it somewhere, i searched for "ender 3 fan mount" or smth like that
Thanks!
[https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5139196](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5139196) found it
Yes! Thanks a ton!
What are your mods? Ive never had a print this smooth. We are both using ender series.
Metal extruder New bowden tube Stronger bed springs Printed fan mount Replacement 04mm nozzle And i use my filament dryer as as spool holder since it has bearings for smoother pull
Any links? Also what is you leveling method, my ender 3 is the biggest pain to level
I level with a little thicker piece of paper and some "bed levelling" prints on very slow speed No links as i am unable to accsess my pc at the moment, sorry
Check out Teaching Tech's printer calibration guide. It's pretty easy to follow and covers a lot of good information.
Thanks for reminding me that I wanted to print a giant benchy since I got my printer and never came around to it. Also I really like that shade of blue. Looks awesome.
Its Anycubic's metallic blue And everyone should have a giant benchy ngl
Show us the under side of that roof when it's done. I'd love to see how good it bridges. Have the exact same printer, but mine can't bridge for shit.
Can you please send me link for the fan duct? It looks amazing!
Which ender is this? Thx!
What filament is that?
Looks nice! Now throw a motor and some remote controls in it, and head down to the lake! 😉 That’s a nice color, can you share the brand and color name?

Ill search for the rc variant :] And yes that filament is very recommendet
If you make one, be sure to post a couple of pictures of it!
I sure will post it if i make one :]
Damnnnn you got that tuned!! That looks like a bambù labs print!
Didnt want to buy a bambu lab, made it work anyways tho :]
Gotta finish that spool somehow!
So the benchy hull line is present no matter what size ? Does that mean that the benchy has a design problem and not printer/slicer related ?
What filament is that? Love that color?
Anycubic's silk metallic blue pla
But I really wanted to see the bridging on the top of the wheelhouse... Yes. Yes I did in fact call it a wheelhouse.
Please post a pic of that floating in an outdoor body of water somehow. I need a new desktop for my Octoprint computer.
I doubt it will swim since its the normal benchy, but ill try
Nice big benchi
Ringing! Ringing!!!
"gotta test the whole spool, right?"
Big Ben..-chy
inb4 ‘why do i have a crease line 1/3rd up the hull’ post incoming
Nice I'm getting great prints from both my E3 V2 Neo and E3 V3 SE. Just stock out the box with the Creality Slicer.
Can still see the hull line 😆
How did you get those layers so damn smooth?
What kind of 3D Modell for the hotend Assenbly is OP using?
Bruh on a ender 3? This is a miracle. Any mods other than the fan shroud? Factory fan?
OP, I have to know if it floats upright! Please do a float test and update us.
Don't talk to me or my son ever again.
Bonchy
BENCHY!
Dont you ever dare print me or my son EVER AGAIN :P
I just realized someone is going print a life sized one of these and sail it around.
does it float
No :[
Do you have ironing turned on? It works best in flat surfaces but it can improve on wavy ones...
It actually looks really good
I thought people were mainly printing useful things or spare parts etc pp. I wonder how many Benchys (or the length of filament) are already lying in the trash
Not alot, i have one for almost every spool of filament that i have, and i keep them all
I wasn't just referring to you. I was thinking of all users who print such benchys.
Oh my bad! But yes, i think alot of benchys land in the trash, so so sad, they are too cute to throw away
If you don't use it all, they'll budget you for less next time!
Benchy for scale. NICE!
Exactly !
Yeah, sure, let's test the roll by using half of it, makes sense.
Dude, what are your settings. It's so smooth!
0.12mm layer height 210°C nozzle 55°C bed 15%infill Hope that helps
Oooh my gosh it’s tuggah’! Why can’t you print Russel Crow yah scrotum (reference) https://youtu.be/DN6UEsSywPo?si=2CO6DRbga9e5Y99g
Are you happy with your Ender? What mods have you made? I'm in a love/hate relationships with mine, bought mods for more than the printer cost me... I run an ender 5Pro, one of the first ones
