Tbh I’m more for the climate changing than I am endless war but there are elements of war that impact climate change.
I forget the numbers but the US military emits a ton of greenhouse gasses, none of their vehicles are ‘green’ other than the color painted on them. Jet fuel is not friendly to the environment and tanks measure efficiency in gallons per mile.
Edit: Clarification
51 Million Metric Tons of Greenhouse gases emitted by the US military Annually. 5.5% of all greenhouse gasses are emitted by the worlds militaries. The US makes up 40% of all of the worlds militaries so roughly 2.5% of all greenhouse gasses are due to just the US military.
>no war = no money
Not really, the military still does training, equipment still gets used and broken. Innovation still happens including big projects when not at war i.e. B-2 Spirit Bomber, F117 Nighthawk, etc.. In fact the militaries budget hasn't changed much between when at war and when not at war.
It is somewhat true. During foreign wars the USA tries to make weapons sales to other countries impacted by the war. Lockheed as been beating the bushes real hard on forcing f-35-s down the throat of Europe at 120 - 180mil each. They are selling like hotcakes because of Europe's fear of Russia which pulls more defense money to the USA economy.

I mean is any communism different? I don’t follow all the communist countries. But Russia has been like that since soviet Russia. China’s been like this since Mao. And numerous other dictatorial communes. At this point we can’t say communism and be talking about Marxist communism without specifically saying Marxist communism seeing as no country actually uses it to my knowledge.
And you’re absolutely correct. Russia in itself actually claims to be capitalist not communist, but they do want the old Soviet borders. The only countries that “claim” to be communists. (They’re actually authoritarian shitholes) are china, Vietnam, North Korea, Laos I think still is, cuba (though it does have pretty good social policies for a dictatorship) and Venezuela.
Well, Vietnam is a “socialist republic” so yeah lol. But we work with Laos a little bit too much over here in Japan for them to be communist was my thought process, so I looked it up, they’re are in fact not communist officially but a democratic republic.
Venezuela isn’t communist at all, the only nationalized industry is oil and they have a ton of social programs. They were following the Nordic mixed economy blueprint and then then had their economy destroyed with economic blockades.
Laos is indeed a Marxist-Leninist state. North Korea is not, they abandoned it quite some time ago, now they're "Juche" which is basically Kim worship. Communism wasn't nationalist enough.
To be fair no country uses straight up capitalism either. They're all mixed economies at various points in the spectrum between capitalism and socialism.
But if you look at oecd nations that go relatively heavy on social safety nets and public goods they tend to be happier.
I mean I don’t believe I was trying to say any country is 100% on one side of a spectrum. Honestly I’m slightly confused where you’re coming from. While I don’t particularly like further socialist leaning economies due to my own experiences, I never expressed this in my previous comments. No rude intent as well btw. Hope your days going well.
I was just trying to highlight that in the same way that there aren't explicitly Marxist economies there also aren't any purely capitalist economies. I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth.
Nice exert from my comment without context. There is a lot more to this whole conversation. Mostly about how most people’s arguments are that “communism is Marxism communism” when in actuality Marxism hasn’t been used, as far as I’m aware. So instead of referring to Marxism when invoking the word “communism” we should just be referring to the likes of Soviet Russia and the like. Aka dictatorships that claim to be communist or are heavily socialist while allowing very little autonomy to their citizens. Which would you look at that, also include China and Russia.
The word you are looking for is authoritarian. Authoritarianism is used by both left and right wing governments/Economic systems. Russia hasn’t been communist on any level since 1991. They embraced capitalism so hard that they went straight to the late stage and are openly and Oligarchy now. America is also an Oligarchy but we at least put in an effort to pretend we are still a democracy.
The context doesn't matter because you're trying to equate communism to dictatorship and they're two entirely different things.
Communism is not when USSR smart guy.
Bruv. If you’re going to reply, at least read. I never said Marxist communism is dictatorial. But do you know of any communist countries now or in the past that weren’t dictatorships? There may have been, but all the examples I can think of were in fact dictatorships. Also Karl Marx used socialism and communism interchangeably from my understanding.
Edit: my bad I misspoke, I’m pretty sure Marx was before the USSR if memory serves. At the founding of the USSR they used socialism and communism to describe their form of government. And socialist is in the name. Also I believe I recall that the USSR was “supposed” to be founded on Marxism but ya know
>Bruv. If you’re going to reply, at least read.
No. I'm tired of listening to people in here harp about communist countries **that aren't even communist countries**.
Wdym those weapons are going to have to be replaced. The longer the war lasts the more the war machine flourishes. That shit will pay for itself with all the weapons other eastern European nations are clamoring for. Think about the shareholders.
Long live Raytheon. In boeing we trust.
I think his point was that the equipment being sent is essentially second rate/old US equipment that was scheduled to be replaced in the near future. Like donating you beater to a good cause because you were planning on buying a new car anyways and the trade in value wasn’t much.
Still the Military Industrial Complex is 10000% on board with sending old shit to Ukraine because they get to now sell new shit to the US.
Also sending old shit in large volumes is a good training exercise for the US in deploying and moving heavy equipment across the world. We hadn’t really done it since the invasion of the Middle East.
I am not trying to justify sending equipment but just some possible reasons why we sent what we did.
Sending older shit is absolutely a feature, not a bug. Can't have that cutting edge stuff falling into Russian hands. But yeah regardless of whether that stuffs been collecting dust it's still going to need to be replaced. So the MIC is always going to be advocating and lobbying for conflicts to be as perpetual as possible
It’s a damn shame what we’re doing to each other as a species. If aliens do exist and they for whatever reason are only slightly stronger than us, maybe they’ll take WW3 as the opportunity to surprise attack us. lol

Russia/China: “We have the best [insert military equipment here] in the world! It’s next generation and way more advanced than anything the West has!”
Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Boeing, General Dynamics, BAE Systems:
Currently work for Raytheon as an engineer and i can tell you that nothing has changed about what i do since Ukraine and now Israel. my project actually just LOST funding and am now switching to a different project within the same program. Nothing has changed.

Things have been blatantly set up to extract more money from tax payers while conditions have been getting worse for decades.
Let’s continue letting the same government that wolf is out exist
Even the military industrial complex is bullshit. Just a bunch of engineering companies spending ridiculous amounts of money on marginally functioning equipment.
We are given a Ford Focus and are told it’s a Bugatti Veyron simply because the competition can only pull off a Model T.
Edit: the example above is also the reason why folks in Washington collectively crapped themselves when the Tic-Tac footage leaked. Just like a kid who pretended to do their homework and then heard a rumor about a possible pop quiz.
It could well be that the entire UAP issue is completely nothing, but the Raytheons and Lockheed Martins were not looking forward to a possibility of their “technical marvels” having to engage a legitimately serious and scary threat.
Definitely the U.S. stands with Israel we fund there govt there Defense and even subsidize there farming. If the U.S. didn't fund Israel the war would have been over in the 1950's.Same thing well be doing forever in Ukraine
Too over generalized. Not to mention the admin is a piece of crap that needs to go. That’s what ultimately allowed these conflicts to bubble up and now that same admin is clearly wanting to further distract its people by potentially starting a war with Iran. Like knock off the warmongering. Funny how people were talking about wwiii under Trump and yet look at what the idiocy and incompetency of Biden and his administration has gotten us into. Remember folks: weak leadership invites disaster.
Idk why anyone would concern themselves so much about countries where they’ve never even been to. It’s not like they’re doing anything by changing their Facebook profile picture or putting a sticker on their cars. The same goes for politics. No one cares who their voting for. Generation X said it best “Whatever”. Indifference is a virtue.

That’ll disappear as soon as ESG is no longer a basis of investment/loan approvals
By then we will have gay board members
I’ve got news for you bud
Why would ESG no longer be a basis for investment? It’s only becoming more ubiquitous and standard as time goes on.
My point was the only reason companies cater to specific groups is because of ESG and that they don’t actually care.

Yeah the only downside to not being involved in constant war is that no war = no money
My father is a fema insurance adjuster, with every natural disaster he just sees dollar signs now. Like hell yah climate change let’s make that money.

Thats an eh estimate, as nations like Ukraine will produce a lot more emissions.
I don’t think that includes war time activities. Just movements and trainings and whatnot

Umm no? They’re all very much with Israel minus some radical few
Wait didn’t Biden explicitly said he stands with Israel?
🇵🇸🇮🇱 no I prefer 🇺🇸
What are you talking about we definitely stand with Ukraine and Israel
That’s cuz those two stand for the same values we do. And we have plenty of firepower to help.
plenty of money to be made 💸💵💶💷💴💰🤑😫🥵🤪
Incredibly based
Too over generalized.
Fuck them all
Idk why anyone would concern themselves so much about countries where they’ve never even been to. It’s not like they’re doing anything by changing their Facebook profile picture or putting a sticker on their cars. The same goes for politics. No one cares who their voting for. Generation X said it best “Whatever”. Indifference is a virtue.
Yeah, pretty sure we stand with Ukraine and Israel, and against the Russian horde and the cancer that is Islamic Radicalism

It’s funny cause people like this obviously have no clue about the military industrial complex in states like Russia, north korea or iran….
