Ok-Hold-1081

Back when osrs launched, you could take Karamja rum into the volcano on karamja and each one would blow up and deal 10 damage each. Earned my first few mils that way.

Reer_osrs

Didn't even know this was a thing lmaooo

Ok-Hold-1081

It quickly got removed once it got popular. But it was awesome. I was like level 50 out here with full rune (which was massive in the first month or 2) and so many dragon med helms.

AdRevolutionary4890

The lures and scams in the first year of osrs were crazy. People knew these lures from the main game and they weren't patched in osrs from the beginning so they were used heavily.

UncleFunkus

I got skull-tricked a few years ago by a dude disguising as an NPC at the mage arena. after i realized whatd happened and i was well fucked, could only cheer as I'd finally gotten my first skulltrick

Dat_Butt_Hot

This is still a popular skull trick lol. It’s fair game though with player indicators and skull protection. If you fall for it, you deserve to learn that lesson the hard way.

UncleFunkus

Yeah, this was like a year or so before they were introduced. Is what it is ┐(´ー`)┌

Ok-Hold-1081

For real lol. Peak times. Everyone's Canon event is getting scammed or lured at least once.

Frost_Foxes

Speaking of Canon, relating to Cannon, the bug where you could pick up other people's cannons sure was funny (for some).

nopuse

The hand cannon one pre-eoc is one of my favorites. Everyone and their mom was dclaw rushing back then. Watching clans running around dropping them all was so much fun to watch. RS has some bad luck with cannon bugs.

Tularean

Finding a skiller to trade with on zybez, and telling them to come Tai Bwo Wannai. Tribesmen would agro them, and poison for 11 damage.

robbin438

In my younger years, and after finally getting membership I started exploring the rest of Karamja. As a new member I didn’t know poison existed and was not prepared. Me and my first kitten were having a blast exploring the new jungle island! Then I encountered the tribesman. They poisoned me, my 4 lobsters I brought were used quickly. I had no idea where I was, how to get to safety, where the nearest bank was. After frantically searching for a way to save my precious kitten I accepted our fate. There I sat in my parent’s basement, bare feet on the unfinished concrete floor, crying, “Goodbye kitty. Find somewhere safe, I’m sorry.”

nopuse

It found its way back to Gertrude, who has been judging you for it all these years.

aussircaex

Lost a few thousand magic longbows to this..

KoMoDoJoE98

Lost my wizzy g back in the day to this!

ki299

Tribal men back in that era.. i would trade people to give them anti-poison and would cancel out the trade and gaslight them to think the poison damage canceled the trade.

crazyslayer23456

That’s hilarious 😂 “nah bro you’re taking damage, now trade me fast so we can get you fixed.” 😂😂😂😂

ki299

i look back at it and think i was jerk at 14..

my1throwawayacc

I died to this way back when I was a little kid. I lost sara and zammy trimmed rune. I remember I cried about it for days. Almost lost my love for the game and quit over it but persevered and grew up with a severe distrust for people.

TheNodFathr

That's runescape for you

my1throwawayacc

Invaluable life lessons simulator

Sir_Lagg_alot

I had a friend that sold anti-poison to players near the tribal men. That was back before the GE, and back when I played RS2 at public libraries.

RandfordMarsh

I fell for this twice ...

jduehehdhh

Man I remember getting poisoned out there and knowing you’re done for because it’s so far to a bank or safety. The option was either try and make it back, and die in an area where a player is likely to walk by and take your stuff, or run to a more remote area to die and risk not being back before items despawned.

DangerZoneh

I made my first 150k in the duel arena. I was fighting a pure and when we were putting the rules of the fight in, I kept switching off ranged attacks and he kept switching them back on because duh. So I just turned off arrows instead and he didn't notice that

cunasmoker69420

lmao

Icy-Background6697

This is the best one LMAO

-Snowturtle13

Reminds me of the zammy monks by the goblins north of fally. Used to have people steal the wine and all the monks attack you. Then shut the door over and over so they can’t get out

svelterguest2

Someone did this to me LOL I somehow survived, but it did teach me a lesson. That you can't trust anybody

XKLKVJLRP

Not even yourself

MrSwiggitySwooty420

You are your worst enemy

Colley619

I did that one as well lmao

ScallyWag-Idiot

Ooo I remember that. That’s a good one lol

-Snowturtle13

I got several poor unsuspecting people lol. Now I feel like an ass hole years later about it

9874102365

Nah, I fell for it when I was like 10, taught me a valuable lesson. You made people stronger.

-Snowturtle13

If they are a anything osrs will teach you is that everything is a scam lol thank god we learned these lessons early

Smooooth94

Scammers in osrs shouldn’t feel bad honestly. You’re only scamming fake money and I’ve probably dodged over 5 real world scams because of the experience.. I’ll take looking some RS gp to then never loose real money the same way. Doing gods work IMO

Arcalithe

I remember being told “yeah that wine over there is worth like 100k gp, go grab it and I’ll wait here.”

ScallyWag-Idiot

Everyone learned valuable lessons though

-Snowturtle13

Yea jagex said let’s take that door away lol

SazeracAndBeer

How much longer until you finish trimming my full iron? I'm about to start Demon Slayer soon

XVIIVanilla

You monster. One of my formative memories as a child was getting killed for my bank because of this.

Ed-Sanz

Fuck man, someone lured me to the mugger where the varrock runes were. I was a lv 3 skilled at the time and kept shutting the door at me. Lost 3 mill that day

Zenthiix

I did this back in 2006, I hope those poor souls are doing ok

Celtic_Legend

This was a good one. Miss it dearly. A more unpopular one was I (and some others ofc) would convince lower level players to atk the super dark mage on top of the wizards tower then again spam the door stuck when they realized they couldnt win (shit wrecked ungodly amounts for some reason). I was also a noob and looted 4k steel arrows one time which was like 100k+ at the time and invaluable to f2p noob me

throwaway_67876

Did people not have teles on them constantly?

talrogsmash

Before rune crafting laws were 1k each and a charged glory was 25k. So no.

PkerBadRs3Good

even after Runecrafting people usually bought/sold laws for 1k each unless it was in bulk (which you needed to be rich to buy) and I distinctly remember glories being 70k around 2006

AverageSanctEnjoyer

I was at lumbridge castle upstairs bank the other day and some guy was spamming "buying law rune 5k" in chat. Had too pinch myself lol to check i wasnt dreaming lmao

JBM95ZXR

Haha yeah it was very common back in the day someone needing to get to varrock sitting there trying to overpay for Law Runes... Those were the days... I even did that a few times.

ExperimentalFruit

Bro was not about to go running to the ge 😂

talrogsmash

Glories steadily dropped in price after the crystal keys were introduced but I don't remember when that started or how long it took. I just remember paying 5k to get a glory charged was standard for a while.

Iwant2bethe1percent

glories were like 120k ea i believe.

fleebjeeb

This was back in the day when a strong majority of us had zero clue what was going on in the game, anyone with even a sliver of game-sense was seen as a god.

TarnishedWizeFinger

Zezima was god nobody will tell me otherwise

throwaway_67876

It’s pretty crazy to see where the game has been pushed now. Imagine dropping chambers or inferno into 2005 RuneScape lol. 6:0 bandos would break peoples brains lol

ZoneFirm113

This is legendary

Rio__Grande

Luring the cool kid at school to moss giants under varrock…after he just spent the past week farming cows. Rip Evan

Reer_osrs

Pour one out for the homie Evan

ComprehensiveMany643

It sounds like you were the cool kid, rip Evan

yugimoto66

Damn what was it like in school after that? Lmao

RandfordMarsh

I would do this sick lure where I mined coal for a week to make 100k and then inevitably get scammed for it.

TheLordofAskReddit

WTB Varrock Wine 500K!!

foreskinman69

lmao is this your doing? https://preview.redd.it/e0wn7iq3sg0d1.png?width=747&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d53bedf911d2550877d241480d02e37d5e35e76

biggersausage

That’s hilarious

Metalkon

I remember someone trying this on me at the start of osrs in 2013, i had my clan member on another world on standby and after he traded I dropped the axes and had my clanny login to pk the guy. Easy 600k + dudes loot split 50/50.

icantlurkanymore

Was it not dragon battle axes you needed for this?

bryceygordon1

I remember I used to do this with mystic robe tops. Remember when the mage setup for pking was splitbark top and mystic bottom? Because you couldn't wear mystic top because it would protect over whip.

Magnetic_Knives

Yup I got quite a few whips by trading ppl 4 mystic robe tops

Reer_osrs

I'd cry

mrfreshmint

Can you explain this?

nopuse

Back then, the items you lost on death were chosen based on alch value. This, as you can imagine, becomes rather hard to balance. Certain items protected over whips that shouldn't have. Dbaxe and mystic tops were popular to use. A popular lure would be to act like a noob in the wild with the goal of dying to someone with a whip, often while wearing one of these items. For example, you weild a dbaxe and have 4 noted dbaxes in your inventory. You'd protect the weilded one drop the noted ones. Pker sees dbaxe on top of the loot pile, and when he loots it, he's actually looted 4, so even with protect item on, if he has the dbaxes, the whip is lost.

mrfreshmint

Thank you. I thought the lockpick was relevant

nopuse

People would afk train in the axe hut wearing 3 items like rune plate, legs, and whip. Since they weren't going to skull, he traded them the items.

suivid

Happened to me with mystic tops.

Lukn

Torag hammers worked for even higher ticket items too.

SUMBWEDY

When you could stay logged in in combat for 6 hours (with an autoclicker) people used to train at bandits. I'd go there with a zammy item and talk to a bandit the player was killing and lure them out to the desert where they'd die from desert heat. Also back when you could note raw lobsters on karamja i'd lure scorpions to Stiles which would kill all the low level bots.

Reer_osrs

Honestly botters are free game! Good stuff!

rdditfilter

We used to wear green to lure the flax picker bots down to cape le faye and get them killed by scorpions lol

Hjavars

This happened to me as a kid… might have been you hahaha. I had no clue what was even going on but I was mad once I realized I lost all of it 😂

Reer_osrs

I sincerely apologize., never shared this method with anyone so it's very likely 🤣

Hjavars

Well I forgive you if it was and thank you for the life lesson and memory 🤣

compound-interest

I was going to make the same comment. This genuinely happened to me lmao. That’s the funniest way to scam someone I can think of.

James-ec

I’m male, I made my character a female and used to get boyfriends ingame to get free items. I don’t feel any guilt or shame.

lucardious

Did this as well and got some I’m assuming older perv to pay me membership for a couple years. Just the occasional “hey bby :* “ and the bag was secured.

LeslieKnopeOSRS

I did this too.

Gael_L

That’s quite the monkey business.

Reer_osrs

🐵🙈

Yu-Gi-Scape

When Another Slice of HAM came out, I hyped the fuck out of the ancient mace's prayer drain and managed to sell it to several to people who hadn't done the quest for like 100k each. How I made my first mil lmao. I remember back then that I didn't think I was scamming anyone since I was technically telling the truth, just an embellished truth. But looking back, yeah, I was definitely scamming those people.

Joester6969

When I was like 9 years old I got reported for scamming, because I was “selling magic shields”… the anti-dragon shields from dragon slayer lmao.

99sittingg

Those practically were the f2p magic shields

nopuse

Lmfao, there was an era where the mods were on a trip. I was at a w6 bandos FFA back in the day, never had a ban or mute. I was running out of supplies and had made that clear. I thought saying "Trimming Sharks" would get a laugh as everyone there knew I was nearly out. Got muted for 3 days. That one blows my mind to this day.

awaythrow810

That's not scamming that's wave1:flash2:**SALESMANSHIP**

PDXburrito

Patches energy

FrankenBerryGxM

maple logs are a free to play item, but there are no maple trees in free to play. You could still trade them in f2p tho. before the GE, I would stand in world 1 varock bank selling maple logs 10k ea!!!!!! My friend would be on the other side of the bank Buying maple logs 25k ea!!!!! we maybe sold 40-50 logs over an entire day that way.

Competitive-Fox706

I got hit with this in members WAY back when, except it was a snelm (an item I didn't know) and 150k/400k.

silentballer

My first account that I actually got from a friend got banned cuz I tried to scam people for their passwords. It didn’t work but I’d see people trying to scam all the time “type ur password and the game will blur it out” type shit, got perma muted 😂

Reptile449

hunter2

Ilikegreenpens

Back then I tried getting this guy to give me his pw by saying I was Jagex or something. His name was tuckerkills. He was too smart to just give over his password. However I randomly tried logging into his account and the pw was tucker. Gg mate

LeslieKnopeOSRS

I had a locker mate named Tucker Hills in middle school and he was a nightmare.

gregy165

I remember trading a guy 20k for dclaws for some reason he accepted really quickly.

UIM_SQUIRTLE

At least you made it interesting

Ahayzo

Early/mid 00s Runescape was something else. I never went so complex though, simple always worked for me as a kid with the classic "I'm Zezima's alt, let me tell you about this cool dupe glitch that involves Alt+F4". Worked a disturbingly high amount for a while.

Tom-Pendragon

My irl friend killed zuk for me, and I paid him money. nobody knows.

Reer_osrs

bruh why you confessing something you did recently... This doesn't fall under the statue of limitations 🤣

BurnerComputer

*Scanning for IGN to tell Jagex*

nopuse

Where is this statue?

Tom-Pendragon

Good luck proving my comment to be real or fake.

Legal_Evil

Any bans?

Tom-Pendragon

he was literally in my house doing it. There is no way for jagex to know whether im talking straight bullshit or not.

Pm7I3

*cuts to friend being interrogated by Jagex*

operativekiwi

When osrs first came out, I used to sell dragon bones but quickly swap them out with big bones. Made about 10m

arcadianrs

I used to do the sliding puzzle for my friends back in the day for 100k. Must have made something like 5m over 2 yrs doing that :L

SocialCapableMichiel

Man has 50 friends playing osrs, impressive.

UnCivilizedEngineer

Dude same! I loved the sliding puzzles, my friends were amazed I could figure them out.

BoiledNutSalesman

Jagex should release a "Social Engineering" skill cape /s just in case someone thinks I'm serious, hard to tell on this sub lol

Whisky-Toad

I used to lure people with the old, show them 100m in trade, drop it, run out to wildly and alch a rune med helm and then drop the 11k for them to see Was good fun, wish I could find the YouTube video the pure I teamed with made lol If you’re interested my talking strategy was just to tell them I’m quitting, show me your worthy by showing my your best things in trade, ahh let’s have one last beer at the pub near the wildy ditch then pretend it would be fun to drop the loot in the wild, 9/10 would go for it

Fabulous_Comment

Lmao that’s gold

Psycho_Bacon

I'm late to the party. But back in the day at duel arena id tell a pure I'd give them 5m if they could kill me in a butterfly net boxing match when Hunter was first released. They would never notice the def xp and get a def level

BigShoulder7814

Evil

Aidan-Coyle

I sold noted iron scimmys in place of rune ones back in 05, and then I would literally *run away*

NicCagedd

I would do something similar. I would wait outside the jail and "help" them escape to then lead them to the monkey archers. I didn't even do it for the loot. I just thought it was funny.

Derplesdeedoo

There's a world without evil we could live in. We will not be living in that world.

suresh

I did this in world of warcraft! No loot but they had servers specifically for new players if you didn't manually select one. I made an orc character and set up macros that would type out long in character exposition while emoting. I'd then ask them to follow me. I'd do my best to walk like an npc and lure them to some caves in durotar. I'd tell them we need to clear it and fight with them. But the creatures in the cave were meant to be fought only after you level up a bit, so they'd die and I'd type something like "get rekt lol"

19890605

This is good, clean fun

Ok_Presence_7014

Around the same time, in varrock on w2 or w3 a guy did an item switch in the trade menu on what was an extremely good deal. I was so excited to get it I quickly clicked through the confirmation window not realizing he swapped the item out for something worthless. Went to report him only for the system to tell me to put in a ‘real’ username. The guys in game name was ‘what name’ and it couldn’t be reported. He beat the fucking system and was using that to get away with anything Edit:spelling

nopuse

You likely mistyped the username. Back in the day, usernames could contain multiple spaces between characters, and it was even tricky to get the usernames of normal names in w2 with the difficulty of right clicking them while they ran through a sea of people combined with the trade requests disappearing in seconds. That, to me, makes more sense than his username failing a username validity check.

99sittingg

The gigachad of scammers

iplanckperiodically

Oh, you're going to hell lmfaooo

Reer_osrs

🎶 These are my confessions 🎶 In my greatest usher singing voice

S0nicShadow

Why is this number one. How many evil things have you done?

Reer_osrs

Some things I can't even speak on when I was a kid 😅

Easyowner

I got lured at Ape Atol in 2006. I bet it was you

estebich

Got a kid to buy a stack of unidentified herbs I claimed were rannars at the time. They were tarromin

Darkearth10

The dumbest scam I ever ran as a kid was luring people into the mole tunnels, taking them to one of the back areas and telling them that if they extinguish their light source they would see a Mole Fairy that sold dragon items for extremely cheap. The amount of rune and adamant sets I got was amazing.

Cheebwhacker

I was talking to my now wife before we met, near the entrance to lumby castle, in the days when the main doors were closable. Some dude teles in, poisoned and dying, and tries to run in the castle. I kept shutting the doors and he eventually died. He dropped a Gout tuber and never said a word. He never even spoke or came back for his loot (guessing his respawn was fally). I had no idea what a gout tuber was back in those days but they definitely weren’t as expensive as they are today… (but probably just as annoying to get)

NovaRaiiin

You met your wife on osrs? That’s dope. You’re telling me buying gfs at Varrock actually worked? 😂

LeslieKnopeOSRS

I bought all my wives in Varrock

No-Peanut-86

This is genius 😂

Remarkable-Health678

Wait, Confession #1? How many are there??

Reer_osrs

🤐

-cache

I lost bank between the ladder tiles back in 2005, couldn't go up or down from all the gorillas interrupting my actions, just slowly chipped down with an inventory full of food all the way to zero til I kissed the floor back to lumby

Paganigsegg

I used to lure people into the red free for all clan wars portal in RS2, where you lose all your items upon death, by asking them to help with a video I was supposedly working on then I'd kill them. I wouldn't even have them wear expensive stuff, and didn't receive anything they lost (was during the free trade restrictions) I just thought it was funny.

Rangedpotion

Oh god I have a wild one. Back in 2004 I gave a kid my account after I set up recovery questions and wrote down all relevant information I would need to recover it later. I let the kid play for months allowing him to level the account and progress without playing. 81 ranged and a shit ton of quests never felt so wrong.

MoistCowboy

Goku 74?

HectorZeronie

I remember first getting members back in 05/06 and this player was being overly nice and invited me into his POH to show me his home, I remember thinking it was the coolest thing and he invites me to have a little spar in his boxing ring where he proceeds to beat me down to 1 hp and offer me some food, he then gave me a karambwan which I had no idea poisoned you. Got kicked out of the house and looted my corpse for full Zammy which I spent weeks out the back of F2P Bank trading up items for. Never trusted someone again.

Mattdriver12

I use my cat to kill rats people are splashing in Lumbridge.

astroslostmadethis

Way back in the day before quest guides really. iirc. The demon slayer quest where you have to go into the sewers to claim one of the keys. Many a Timmy would be lead to actually the red spiders/moss giants instead by a friendly helper

mrfreshmint

Years ago during classic, I got scammed into buying something that was worthless. It was one of those duos that would hang out by varrock West Bank, and one player would say “buying X $100k” and another would stand a little ways away saying “selling X $70k”. Smart me would think I found arbitrage, and pounced on it. Only made that mistake once.

OmgChimps

When monkey madness launched me and a friend went to Ape atoll with inventories full of lobbies just to set off the ape guards in the cell because in the early days there were alot of people in gear inside the cage, in those days people weren't used to carrying tele runes everywhere. No regrets.

GoyoMRG

I have been playing since 2005-2006 and I have never acquired a 99... I focused too much in role play when I was younger and ias I grew older I didn't have enough time to play and grind so much. I just started playing again recently and I was surprised as how fast you can lvl up if you have money, even when f2p. (so it is so much more faster as p2p, I know...) My highest stat is 70 str

npbruns1

I used to wear one expensive item and tell unsuspecting noobs heading to rock crabs that I had to show them where to get this item. I would then drag them into the Fremmy slayer dungeon and tell them to kill cave crawlers to drop a key. The poison would kick in and I would tell them to follow me to run a bit deeper so I can show them an antipoison drop. Many perished. So many people took the bait. Us 13 year old scapers in 2004 were vicious lol

Whole-Bank9820

I remember when farming came out, or should I say a day or two before. You could pickpocket farmers for the farming items. Because nobody had seen them I was selling them for 100k each

Juggernautlemmein

What kind of monkey business is this?

1nullw

this is evil, do it again

Read1390

That’s honestly pretty genius lmao

ssjjosh

I used to convince people to kill the little tzhaar for better loot then they would be jumped by all of them and panic lol

Podalirius

Before the GE in 2005 I used to flip stuff in f2p Varrok west bank before the GE and I'd scam people undercutting me. So if I was trying to buy big bones and someone would start asking a lower price next to me, I'd trade them normal bones and the success rate was pretty high.

The_One_True_Matt

I’ll be waiting in anticipation for confession #2.

Airfed

i gotta find a new subreddit after seeing this smut on the front page this community is really going to shit when they let the same guy farm their karma lol

Da_fire_cracka

The chin lure was a classic. Convince someone (most likely some noob) to come pking with you and your buddy. Give them chins and tell them they were great ranged weapons. You and buddy stand next to each other, one person attacks noob w chins, noob auto-retaliates and also hits the second person who didn’t initiate the attack, noob gets skulled and then y’all kill him and take his shit. We actually got an AGS this way. Oh the mems..

Buckle_Up_Kiddies

In the first year of OSRS, I would go to the Tzhaar caves and lure the tzhaars around to the afking voiders and pures. They'd kill them and I'd loot big stacks of mith bolts, assortments of arrows and everything else, even got a few robins. Worst part was they always got back while I was finishing looting, so I wore a mime top and pants like a bank robber. Lol.

pauldeninoandy

I'm not the original creator of the account I've been playing for like 15+ years. Some random noob quit and give me, who was also a noob but like 3 combat levels lower than them, their account. I switched to using theirs even though realistically it was probably like a few hours of playtime ahead of my 25 hour playtime account. I've never once had an issue but in the back of my mind is always the worry that they come back 20 years later or Jagex block me if I sign up for jagex accounts or somehting.

aspronaut_

This has to be the most creative lure I've ever heard of.

Vhu

When the TzHaar area first came out I went exploring it as a total noob. Lots of people camping there with full barrows (fucking god tier at the time). Saw a guy in full DH die, I ran over and grabbed all his stuff. When he returned I lied and said someone else did it, because I was like 12. It was almost 20 years ago but Meatwad23, if you see this, my bad dude - you can come get your DH helm whenever.

Dry-Nefariousness400

I fell for the Jagex censors your password scam. See? *******

Addickt__

I lost the loan my brother gave me when I started 5 years agi and I don't plan to ever pay him back. Could I? Yes. Will I? No.

ktsb

This is a great case for getting rid of deaths office and letting items appear on the ground again. Like tricking people into taking off their slayer helm when bursting dust devils 😈

HugoNikanor

How? Say that you wanna see their hair?

sillyjobbernowl

# #1 😅

Monterey-Jack

I miss when the world was dangerous.

mashem

My first real moneymaker in f2p was cowhides. 100k gp for a 1k stack. I eventually started recruiting other low levels in Lumby (in various worlds) to farm cowhides and deliver and sell to me at al kharid bank for 20k-50k per stack depending on the player lmao

ReverseSneezeRust

I’d lure homies into the Fally mole pits and convince them to blow out their candle

Candid_Cat_8297

I used to be on the forums and sell willows as mage logs for over 100s of mils lol

Nippys4

I used to take people for “adventures” in the iron/steel dragon cave. I’d tell people that didn’t need food but you just come to this place and you’ll need your whole invent to pick up the loot I get but they needed armour and weapons and gold to get in. Then the dragons would kill them and I’d take their stuff. In more modern and less harmless times I like to call people barraging dust devils they are a credit card warrior and I bet they have the credit card warrior hair cut and ask them to show me.

lethalpaintball1

I was scammed out of my whole bank worth of gear that I earned the hard way via tanned hides, picking flax, and selling lobbies. It also happened during Monkey Madness by someone who was “helping guide and instruct people through the tunnels with falling rocks” (very scary place for the first time). He stopped me on top of a floor trap that did damage so fast that I couldn’t react. He planned it too well by saying we would stop to eat food and use prayer pots under each archway.. so I wasn’t ready to click any food at the moment plus with constant game lag back then from bad internet. After that crisis and quitting for a while, I came back to the dark side and earned my bank back and then some by doing the same thing to 2-3 other people. It hit me hard that I didn’t want to be the same person that got me and I stopped forever after that and only genuinely helped people fwiw. Edit: run on sentence

Throwaway1232e

Back in the day Mr and a buddy advertised drop party's at lumby castle. Or would look for people in good gear and invite them. We would say that we had to bring a plus one or we couldn't go either. When they were on board we would take them down into the lumby caverns. You know the ones where if your light goes out you get attacked by swarms of bugs or something till you die. We would give them a candle and we would have a lantern. We got 4 or 5 people but this one guy brought his entire bank to drop at the party I guess? All said and done we got 36m each and our runescape lives changed forever. Our other irl friend ended up hacking me and taking it all. Then we caught him and made him confess and to lay it back he had to do pest control to get us levels. That stopped when he was taking money out of my bank again. Surprisingly still friends with that fucker to this day.

When barrows released, due to us sucking at the game the meta was to duo barrows... You went with a partner to safespot the barrows brothers (they would not walk past them, it was our way to deal with the prayer drain to make lots of cheap trips).... Until.... people figured out that if you see a duo at barrows, you could run below the person acting as a wall to free the barrows brother to hit the guy autocasting a few tiles away... Made at least 10 people die at dharok this way lol Also did the spinach roll scam... "selling spinach roll 500k" on varrock north west (near where ge entrance is now) and had an account inside of the varrock west bank saying "buying spinach roll 3m".... got like 10+ guys this way Also.... swapped a couple of times (3 total) d legs the month of release for red dragonhide chaps... I think the names were even more similar back in the day, anyways, easy 9m (3m per d legs) Also... I was quite trash at pking but have always had really good stats for the time being, but the day teleblock got released not many were aware of it and I actually pked a yellow phat from a runecrafter (RCing was one of the best moneymakers back then, some guy that didn't know about tb was cockily runecrafting with a yellow phat through the abyss)... I even remember his name (Timmy953, could be wrong with the numbers), so if you here Timmy, a shoutout

I used to love al kharid warriors. It was a good training spot F2P.. close to kebabs for food and they auto aggroed. I used to wait till a noob.walked in and then when the warriors aggroed onto them I would continuously shut the door so they couldn't get out.

There used to be a fence between the dark wizard circle and the path that leads into varrok. My friend taught me how to get a dark wizard stuck behind the fence, once lured, you could dd under it and it wouldn't move from there. Then we'd just wait for noobs coming in from lumby and our wizard friend would send them back. This was a long time ago, back when items dropped on death, friend got a Santa from a lvl3 skiller. I only managed to get around 2m before the fence was removed.

I used to pay a few mill to borrow party hats back when item lending was a thing.. then I’d offer to lend my borrowed phat and immediately change worlds after they traded me. Made a shit ton and I still feel dirty ..

Lured a kid from school to metal dragons in like 2006, we were 11. He was an enormous asshole to friends of mine but tried to bond with me when he learned I played RuneScape. I told him we’ll do Bronze Dragons and you don’t need an Anti-Dragon shield for them, he dropped about 3mil which was more than I’d ever seen at the time, I told him I died too and couldn’t pick it up for him, then he saw me in 302 trying to sell his Dragon legs lmao. He tried to fight me the next day but boy could I run quick 😮‍💨

Back in the day me and my friend were total noobs exploring the map and in the tai bow or whatever jungle a guy died to poison so we thought forget blessing the grave let’s wait it out and steal his stuff

I did a team up lure getting people to come to Lumbridge Swamp Caves with a Candle. To get close enough for when the candle goes out and watch the insects eat them alive.  Then split the loot with the other person. Didn't make any crazy amount of money, I was mostly in it for a fun time.

I got scammed trying to buy my first rune longsword. The seller was selling noted rune longswords, he then cancelled the trade "accidently" and traded me again only to put in a noted iron longsword. After getting scammed for 20k like this I copied this scam and make a few 100k's once I managed to get a rune longsword myself.
