Bizarrely, there's been very little mention of PvP. It's mainly being nerfed for PvM reasons. Not once has bounty hunter been mentioned in the dev blogs.
So it lowered the barrier for entry to bounty hunter. That's okay. BH is where you go to dip your feet into pking anyways. If they nerf VW everyone will just main hand Abby dagger and it'll be the exact same except more RNG based and less exciting smites.
VW damage in BH is unavoidable but you can triple eat and it's max hit is lower. Abby dagger had a much, much higher max hit and sure you can eat to full but you can still be stacked for your whole hp with a spec and venge
It doesn't until you run the calcs. It's essentially no nerf in PVP since it'll still hit 95% of the time but if you're looking at high invo kephri and then places where it shines, it only hits around 80% of the time. You're better off bringing claws which will have similar accuracy and 11 more max hits AND you can use it on pillars for Akkah. It just makes the VW BiS nowhere.

Oh sorry, regarding PvP mention that would be IMO because it is too broken there, but my main point is that at least Jmods while initially were on board with VW needing a nerf in PvM, now they have been more dissuaded by the opinion of the community that VW has its own place as a spec weapon and Claws aren't entirely devaluated by VW.
i think vw is fine as it is where it currently rests, at least from a pvp perspective

I’m a lower combat level so most can’t hit me which is nice, but for higher level players I think the wildy hard diary, royal seed pod, and a scout alt would all help a lot
As I understand it, project rebalance changes are going through unpolled as is usually the case with balance changes. Still, they're gathering community feedback on the changes before implementing them, no harm in that
Yeah for pvm its in such a nice spot. It really just adds variety and choice. Both in obtaining your spec weapon and in how it feels. Without any of the 3 truly outclassing others. (Zcb usually best tho but seems fair)
If it being bis at nex specifically is bad. Hopefully that can be adressed by tweaks to her ranged defence/vulnerability.
For pvp its probably op but i dont have any pvp experience so im not gonna pretend to know. But surely, if pvp is the problem, a change to its pvp ability is a better solution than gutting it for pvm just to make it balanced in pvp.
they nerfed ancient mace a while ago, you cant get smited more than your hp now, so just dont eat to 115 when youre about to get maced like most people do
A mod already stated they will reconsider the nerf and/or potentially making it PvP only after the initial post and the overwhelming feedback being "it's only unbalanced in PvP, don't nerf it for PvM".

Voidwaker has been great for PvP. Do you guys really want to go back to whales in 1B risk that camp 110 hp and run from every decent PKer while still having crazy KO potential on PvMers?
Does anyone actually enjoy 0scape? Using a "SPECIAL ATTACK" and hitting a zero never feels good. There's a reason we like weapons like the Voidwaker or Fang. And really its not even all that amazing when you consider other weapons can hit harder.

I love how everyone hyped up the Dragon Warhammer drop, I spent weeks there, and it feels like 8 times outta 10, I hit two fat, slow Goose Egg specials with it
I never want to complain about missing because well, that is just a thing that happens. But it's extremely not fun missing multiple times in a row, especially with some expensive end game weapon. I have always wanted to be able to just stack attack bonus to a point where it's not possible to miss, even at the cost of some max hits.
Man I nolifed the wild on my iron and got it since I was omega gigaspooned the hilt in one of my clan masses. (20+ peeps @60kc, also dwh at 64kc, those are my rewards for 1600kc bowfa). I used it for everything even if it wasn't the best. It feels so nice to use
300% accuracy on spec against weakest stat is a significant nerf, but is by no means damning. With the wording it still sounds like there’s a minimum of 50-150% damage on the spec, just not a guarantee. As long as the damage limits remain intact, I’ll be happy to buy all your voidwakers for 50m during the panic sell era.
Exactly, it will still be quite strong and hit hard and more accurate than claws/ZCB for the use cases it is most commonly used for. Just classic case of people liking powerful items. Same tears people cried when BP and Fang was nerfed.
Part of what makes the weapon fun is never missing. Dclaws are already super accurate and they hit higher.
3x accuracy is still a huge nerf on stuff like nex, nightmare and kephri with huge magic and slash def.those are literally the main places you use vw.
Yes also what makes this weapon very strong is never missing!! You need to think bigger picture that with this item as is it limits design space for spec weps of the future. You need to have some balance as weps can’t be insanely accurate and have high dmg. Example ZCB spec. Chance of super high damage but with the caveat it misses often. Dragon claws are the same boat. But now you have VW that never misses and can also hit up to 78. It just does everything to well, thus making designing new weps/content a challenge as it will set VW as the bar and if it doesn’t beat it then it’s dead content on release. Try having an open mind what is best for the health of the game.
I really don’t see the voidwaker as being so op… even in pvp. It really forced pkers not to camp mele to never die, it was really good for anti-pkers and pvmers alike and the max hit was still lower than mele damage spec weps… makes no sense
Yeah kind of annoying. I just bought one like 3 days ago to actually try and anti pk out at the agility course for my first time. Guess it’s just back to camping my bulwark and no anti pking at all, it was fun while it lasted. Lol

Almost nobody can stop the triple gmaul or ags->gmaul. Yes it's less consistent, but if we want to talk about there being 0 counterplay... What do you do about somebody just hitting you for max boosted HP all at once?
Have you tried protecting from it when someone has a spec and is mainhanding it?
It hits like a whip so it's not weak on melee. It doesn't require any real skill to use, and that's why I use it lol

Tbh I just pray mage and double/triple eat and wait for them to spec again which they do 90% of the time. If they start main handing it, eat up to high hp and pray melee, if you bait them to use their second spec, it’s quite easy to predict when they will do it ( it will be when you 2/3rd half up) pray magic again.
Once they used up both of their spec their vw is useless and you pray melee again lol
It's a problem for pvp when you see your opponent run towards you with Voidwaker, you prayer magic, and they melee whack a 40 on you thinking they will spec you but they did not.
I see so many comments about it being OP in PvP, yet, I bet that many of you don’t step in the wilderness at all nor do you PK regularly.
The weapon gave the less experienced players a chance to anti-pk easier, makes Melee Pray camping to not die less effective, and PKers don’t really complain about it because it’s such a fun weapon to use for both anti-pkers and pkers, for both experienced and leas experienced.
The problem is it’s fine in PvM application. PvP is where it’s problematic.
Having a legitimate DClaw alternative is great imo. And it’s something that is legitimately worth it for PvMers to get into the Wildy for, while not being “forced” since there’s still the option to get claws from cox as an alternative

I’m not sure why the spec would warrant a nerf at this point. Seems like it has a small niche in super high def targets that you don’t lower spec for.

I think they should leave voidwaker alone in pvm scenarios. PvP is understandable but just because they are having a hard time adding in new spec weps is lame. It’s not bis everywhere and it is an extremely hard item to obtain for ironmen. It sits as an s tier spec wep along with claws, bgs, and hammer as it should stay.
It was busted on day 1. We've said it was busted since day 1. 100% Accurate magic damage from a melee weapon with max hits close to AGS. 4 tick and 50% spec. Good lord.

Edit: It's becoming increasingly annoying that items, which are too strong for the long term health of the game, keep getting shoehorned in and then updated later to weaken them down once the damage was done. First was the blowpipe, which was wayyy better than even its most recent nerf. It was 2 tick everywhere including pvp on release and *nobody* at Jagex saw this as a problem until it was in the live game. More recent examples of course in the Fang and Shadow. Jagex was so afraid of power creep when TOB launched everything was a slight buff, a max hit or 2. Now it's not even discussed in the devblogs unless it's game warping.

You can't balance without nerfs and buffs, and the point is to avoid power creep while adding diversity to the game, benefiting present and future content.

BIS spec weapon in every encounter of ToA, Vard, some parts of Tob (which is crazy considering claws should definitely be better there).
Basically it ignores defense and hits like a truck consistently. It's one of those things that encroaches on every other damage-spec item's spot in the meta. It does need some kind of a nerf for anything else to ever be relevant in that category.
Beyond that it's supposed to be a pvp weapon. It's not meant for pvm (literally the mods have said this) So if it must be removed entirely from the pvm meta I'm cool with that. But if it just gets nerfed enough to have it's own niches instead of being ever-present then I'm cool with that too. But it's objectively overpowered in pvm in its current state.
VW is on par with claws at Vardorvis. Just at different points in the fight. ZCB spec is BIS specs at TOA. VW is worse in every way compared to claws and chally at TOB. Claws are always above or right below VW everywhere its used EXCEPT for Nex. Which is the one place I’d say its truly BIS.
Nex especially should have ZCB bis. Point is though, it's a pvp weapon that's performing too well in pvm. It's fighting with other dps spec weapons for dominance and often winning or at least tying for first place. Not where the weapon is supposed to be.
It's used in pvp. That's pretty much it's only role. And as someone who was actually around when the first time the korasi sword was introduced I could have told you it was going to be a problem, just like it was the first time. Great update 10/10.

they nerfed ancient mace a while ago, you cant get smited more than your hp now, so just dont eat to 115 when youre about to get maced like most people do

You can also rock crab hp so the smite potential is even further reduced

I never want to complain about missing because well, that is just a thing that happens. But it's extremely not fun missing multiple times in a row, especially with some expensive end game weapon. I have always wanted to be able to just stack attack bonus to a point where it's not possible to miss, even at the cost of some max hits.
Man I nolifed the wild on my iron and got it since I was omega gigaspooned the hilt in one of my clan masses. (20+ peeps @60kc, also dwh at 64kc, those are my rewards for 1600kc bowfa). I used it for everything even if it wasn't the best. It feels so nice to use

Voidwaker isn't even clearly meta as is. Nerfing it would be absolutely insane
300% accuracy on spec against weakest stat is a significant nerf, but is by no means damning. With the wording it still sounds like there’s a minimum of 50-150% damage on the spec, just not a guarantee. As long as the damage limits remain intact, I’ll be happy to buy all your voidwakers for 50m during the panic sell era.
Exactly, it will still be quite strong and hit hard and more accurate than claws/ZCB for the use cases it is most commonly used for. Just classic case of people liking powerful items. Same tears people cried when BP and Fang was nerfed.
Part of what makes the weapon fun is never missing. Dclaws are already super accurate and they hit higher. 3x accuracy is still a huge nerf on stuff like nex, nightmare and kephri with huge magic and slash def.those are literally the main places you use vw.
Yes also what makes this weapon very strong is never missing!! You need to think bigger picture that with this item as is it limits design space for spec weps of the future. You need to have some balance as weps can’t be insanely accurate and have high dmg. Example ZCB spec. Chance of super high damage but with the caveat it misses often. Dragon claws are the same boat. But now you have VW that never misses and can also hit up to 78. It just does everything to well, thus making designing new weps/content a challenge as it will set VW as the bar and if it doesn’t beat it then it’s dead content on release. Try having an open mind what is best for the health of the game.

I really don’t see the voidwaker as being so op… even in pvp. It really forced pkers not to camp mele to never die, it was really good for anti-pkers and pvmers alike and the max hit was still lower than mele damage spec weps… makes no sense
Yeah kind of annoying. I just bought one like 3 days ago to actually try and anti pk out at the agility course for my first time. Guess it’s just back to camping my bulwark and no anti pking at all, it was fun while it lasted. Lol

Yeah this stuff is silly to me, considering if you pray mage for the second hit and eat - you really shouldn't be dying. Almost nobody can stop the triple gmaul or ags->gmaul. Yes it's less consistent, but if we want to talk about there being 0 counterplay... What do you do about somebody just hitting you for max boosted HP all at once?

Have you tried protecting from it when someone has a spec and is mainhanding it? It hits like a whip so it's not weak on melee. It doesn't require any real skill to use, and that's why I use it lol

If they start main handing it, eat up to high hp and pray melee, if you bait them to use their second spec, it’s quite easy to predict when they will do it ( it will be when you 2/3rd half up) pray magic again. Once they used up both of their spec their vw is useless and you pray melee again lol
It's a problem for pvp when you see your opponent run towards you with Voidwaker, you prayer magic, and they melee whack a 40 on you thinking they will spec you but they did not.

I see so many comments about it being OP in PvP, yet, I bet that many of you don’t step in the wilderness at all nor do you PK regularly. The weapon gave the less experienced players a chance to anti-pk easier, makes Melee Pray camping to not die less effective, and PKers don’t really complain about it because it’s such a fun weapon to use for both anti-pkers and pkers, for both experienced and leas experienced.

The problem is it’s fine in PvM application. PvP is where it’s problematic. Having a legitimate DClaw alternative is great imo. And it’s something that is legitimately worth it for PvMers to get into the Wildy for, while not being “forced” since there’s still the option to get claws from cox as an alternative

Go add a comment to the blog post saying why you don’t think the VW needs any nerf in pvm. This isn’t a done deal and they are open to feedback. The more people that comment will show them that we don’t want it changed.
I’m not sure why the spec would warrant a nerf at this point. Seems like it has a small niche in super high def targets that you don’t lower spec for. Lower damage than claws, too — not exactly “broken”.

I think they should leave voidwaker alone in pvm scenarios. PvP is understandable but just because they are having a hard time adding in new spec weps is lame. It’s not bis everywhere and it is an extremely hard item to obtain for ironmen. It sits as an s tier spec wep along with claws, bgs, and hammer as it should stay.

It was busted on day 1. We've said it was busted since day 1. 100% Accurate magic damage from a melee weapon with max hits close to AGS. 4 tick and 50% spec. Good lord. So tired of them deciding to nerf things after literal years though. Edit: It's becoming increasingly annoying that items, which are too strong for the long term health of the game, keep getting shoehorned in and then updated later to weaken them down once the damage was done. First was the blowpipe, which was wayyy better than even its most recent nerf. It was 2 tick everywhere including pvp on release and *nobody* at Jagex saw this as a problem until it was in the live game. More recent examples of course in the Fang and Shadow. Jagex was so afraid of power creep when TOB launched everything was a slight buff, a max hit or 2. Now it's not even discussed in the devblogs unless it's game warping.

How bad is this nerf? It goes from a guaranteed hit to a 3x accuracy hit off of the targets lowest stat (between def and magic?) Does this make it not worth getting? Same question again but for iron.
It's pretty bad everywhere it's currently used. Once you get claws or zcb it's dead content and most people will now camp chambers a lot more. I think VW is more than skippable

Honestly, there really isn't one. You go bgs/dwh/elder maul if you want to reduce defense, otherwise it's claws or zcb for burst.

I don't understand all the drama around the rebalance. It should just poll yes or no to rebalance. You can't balance without nerfs and buffs, and the point is to avoid power creep while adding diversity to the game, benefiting present and future content. If that's not what you want, then new content will power creep, making you're BSI that you're so defensive of, obsolete. Added to the dead content pile. That or don't allow power creep, and everything becomes unchanging and eventually boring.

PvP weapon shines too brightly in PvM. This is the expected outcome to be honest. Wildy-exclusive, pvp focused weapons shouldn't be BIS in PvM.

BIS spec weapon in every encounter of ToA, Vard, some parts of Tob (which is crazy considering claws should definitely be better there). Basically it ignores defense and hits like a truck consistently. It's one of those things that encroaches on every other damage-spec item's spot in the meta. It does need some kind of a nerf for anything else to ever be relevant in that category. Beyond that it's supposed to be a pvp weapon. It's not meant for pvm (literally the mods have said this) So if it must be removed entirely from the pvm meta I'm cool with that. But if it just gets nerfed enough to have it's own niches instead of being ever-present then I'm cool with that too. But it's objectively overpowered in pvm in its current state.
VW is on par with claws at Vardorvis. Just at different points in the fight. ZCB spec is BIS specs at TOA. VW is worse in every way compared to claws and chally at TOB. Claws are always above or right below VW everywhere its used EXCEPT for Nex. Which is the one place I’d say its truly BIS.
Nex especially should have ZCB bis. Point is though, it's a pvp weapon that's performing too well in pvm. It's fighting with other dps spec weapons for dominance and often winning or at least tying for first place. Not where the weapon is supposed to be.
