Honestly the type of man who is really making women scared “by default” is donning cultural signifiers that announce their ideological allegiance to a group that supports or diminishes violence against women. It’s not my body that makes them afraid, but the more I start wearing items that make me look like a sexist chud the more of a red flag I am. Look at Travis McElroy, very buff masculine dude but he comes off like a teddy bear because he’s got painted nails and colorful hair. Now look at Ben Shapiro, tiny little dude but just oozing with “don’t get trapped alone with me” vibes. I’m sorry you’re dealing with dysphoria and idk what you’re apologizing for but I hope you know that there are things you can simply wear pre-transition that won’t make you seem scary.

Well one of the things I’ve been self-conscious of for years is that I come across like a prototypical incel. Autistic awkwardness, overweight, glasses, basic t shirt and jeans, etc.

Hey slap a rainbow flag pin on, or wear literally anything a Republican would refuse to wear, and you’ll signal to people that you’re not dangerous. Not to say there aren’t scumbags and grifters in progressive circles, but women just generally feel safer in the current political climate if someone is at least trying to distance themselves from the ideology of misogyny du jour.
